Each time I've donated blood in New Tampa (Walmart parking lot), it's been the staff of the Lakeland Branch who has greeted me, questioned me, taken my blood, & sent me packing w/ a beach towel or shirt, along w/ a gift card. (The current promotion is a beach towel & $45 in gift cards; it ends Aug 31.) If you're in Tampa or Wesley Chapel, finding an open appointment online & reserving the time takes a minute or more. Once you arrive at the big red bus (currently in a mask-- regardless of vaccine status), you'll answer a few oral questions after answering questions on a Tablet. Then you'll be taken to a bed, offered a beverage & snack, & be stuck; I have yet to ever feel more than a non painful pinch. Once the blood has been collected; the needle is removed; & the gauze is attached w/ a wrap, it's time to go. I've used the Lakeland OneBlood mobile unit 4x-- each time in the Walmart parking lot in New Tampa. No parking issues! No long wait! No hassles! Staff has always been friendly; the women have varied each time. Some of the busses are newer & shinier than others, but all have appeared clean. The entire process from reserving an appt time (on-line) to leaving the bus to go home after the donation has always been INCREDIBLY speedy & easy. I'll continue to donate blood every two months regardless of promotion, & I'll continue to rely on this mobile bus unit. OneBlood makes donating simple!

This center may be difficult to find because the address shows up as Arby's in Maps. It's actually right next to the Play It Again Sports to the left of Publix in the shopping center by the Lake Square Mall. Usually my iron is too low to donate blood, so I stopped trying for several years. Recently I started taking a really good iron supplement and decided to give it a shot with The Big Red Bus. My whole blood donation went perfectly, so I thought "why not try platelets" while I wait for my next whole blood donation. Keep in mind that it's a double-stick and you'll be sitting for two to three hours, unable to move, which is really taxing for people with restless body issues or ADHD. You'll probably feel extremely cold, but they have heating pads and blankets. You can also watch whatever you'd like on a personal TV with headphones (to oneblood: please get the extended versions of LotR lol).

Hmm I explained when i was filling the papers ; she didn't seem happy that was her problem ; anyway I went back Saturday which the have to use the other arm which to tell the truth I can barely see it; but this time the phlebotomist was awesome ; she did it quick , no bruise , no pain ; her name is Allie; she is wonderful. The place is super clean ; they are pretty organized. Thank you Biomat!

The last time I was there I hardly felt a thing. I've only almost passed out once (my fault for not eating prior) and they were quick to take care of me. Within 15 minutes I was out the door, feeling fine and back to work. So before you go...EAT before coming, make sure you are hydrated and take it easy afterwards.

The entry has two small fridges with waters and juices plus a variety of cookies and snacks for when you leave. I ate some beef the day before and hours ahead of going in, and I passed my iron test. The interview was done, and I was able to select where to lay as my blood was taken. Wonderful experience was due to how professional and friendly everyone was.

I've been to 4-5 different plasma centers, both Biolife and other brands in Florida and other…read morestates, and this Biolife center in Lakeland is easily the most well-run location of any I have been to. Everyone (mostly) here is so kind and pleasant. I know it's not always super enjoyable taking vitals or being a phlebotomist, but the workers here are so enjoyable and really make the experience much better. Tiffany, Darrell, Olivia, Madison, Jay, Naheeda, Daylin, Kevin, Ryan, Jose, Danielle, Alyssa are all just awesome. And my girl Jessica, it's always a pleasure seeing any of them and getting to chat. They do a really great job here of getting people in and out even if it's slammed busy. Except maybe once in awhile if they're understaffed, the longest I'm there is 90 minutes. I've been to plasma centers where the expectation that it'd take at least 2 hours every time no matter the time of day, and 90 minutes was a quick day. But here, there are plenty of days where I'm in and out in an hour or less (of course, it helps to be hydrated so the actual donation goes faster). Efficiency is something they have down here. I'm super impressed. Not only do you get paid, but you're helping save lives by donating plasma. It's a win-win, and Biolife Lakeland gets an A+.
