Came in to donate plasma today and was so impressed with this location. It was really clean and…read morewell kept, and also easy to get to with lots of available parking. The staff members were also amazing. Everyone I worked with was super helpful, personable and professional. I was also super impressed by Anthony. I always have to donate from my right arm because everyone else either can't find a vein in my left arm or they miss it when they stick me. Anthony got it on the first try and was so fast that I barely felt a thing. I highly recommend this OctaPharma.

Although the center has improved over the last few years certain staff members are somewhat…read moreinconsiderate towards donors. Most donors like to listen to something on their phone or tablet but certain staff members like to crank up their radio in the donation area making it difficult for the donors to hear what they're trying to listen to. I think the staff listening to their music and having their boombox in the donation center is uncalled for. That should be kept in the break room. Not everyone wants to listen to the same kind of music that the staff wants. Despite using earbuds trying to drown out the staffs boombox having that music pounding is very irritating!

I looked up the time frames and when going through your own travel chart I am not disqualified. If I am reading everything correct it is a accumulation of 5 years if in Germany. (see below) If you have different criteria you should let the customer see it up front. I was there less than 2 1/2 between 1993 -1995. The site is very clean and everyone is very nice they just waisted my time. ************************************** You are not eligible to donate blood if you spent -- meaning visited or lived -- a cumulative time of five years or more from January 1, 1980 to present, in any combination of the following countries in Europe, including: The United Kingdom from 1980 through 1996 as listed above On or associated with military bases as described above, and In other countries in Europe as listed below: Germany **************************************** UPDATE I was called by a manager within 2 hours of sending a direct message and he explained that there was a question I answered wrong and it was reviewed wrong by the tech and that is why they placed me on the disqualified list. This places me in the national database. He said it will take a little while to get it corrected and then I will be allowed to donate again. He did say he would be contacting me personally when it is corrected.

And if you bring up the guidelines they love saying it's not preferred. It's not recommended. Butterflying around instead of outright saying it's not allowed, when their own website condones it.

So as many people get nervous going to the doctor I get both nervous and paranoid. My bp spikes and only a feeling of comfort relaxes me to the point of my bp returning to normal. Add donating blood and boom I have an instant 4 alarm fire going on. This is a special thanks to Ms. K. Smith for taking the the to talk me through the process, being patient with me as my first bp was slightly over the qualifying pressure and supplying me with all the free goodies that I received for doing such a simple act of kindness. The Big Red Bus was not only cool, cozy, and clean but a great source of service to be able to get out to areas that many people can walk or take public transportation to, adding a free fandango ticket and free appetizer is a great added bonus. I had a bad experience, giving blood at The Retreat At Grande Lake when the big red bus visited…read morethis location. The phlebotomist who took my blood, was very rude and inconsiderate. I'm a 70-year-old veteran and she treated me as a perfunctory task she had to do rather than as a human being with feelings. I have given more than 2 pounds of blood over the past three years, but I won't be giving to One Blood again.

However it's a little on the small side with just one office it shares the same space as the United Way. I've done a few Flagler College Fair's for this particular Red Cross location and it also provides an awesome ability to be a great place to volunteer for Flager College students as well. So if you ever find yourself bored with nothing to do get out and VOLUNTEER for your local Red Cross! It's alot of fun.

We gave the clerk a prescription for his blood draw that would allow him to donate every 4-weeks. We were told their location doesn't do those and he would need to make an appointment at a location across town. That was frustrating and it would have been nice to know ahead of time. I went ahead and began completing the questionnaire and the tech got me started. The staff offered me a drink and snack and made sure to keep checking on me while we waited for the blood donation to be complete. As always you get a thank you gift for donating. This time we took home a nice canvas tote bag and a stainless steel water bottle, both with the One Blood logo

She was able to find a vein in my arm very quickly and get a needle in with little more than an "ouch." The actual blood donation took about 10 minutes for me (basic whole blood donation), it took longer to do the computer work to sign me up. The whole experience was pleasant. After a few moments our instructor led us to the classroom . On the way there he kindly showed us where the restroom, water fountain, coffee machine were at . The building itself seems a bit outdated, but nothing that effected the quality of our course. The instructor was easy to follow and gave clear instructions . I felt like I was heard and gained what I needed to in this course. Overall, I would highly recommend this American Red Cross location .
