    I have been banking with Navy Federal for over 25 yrs. When reading some of these 1 star comments I…read moream wondering to myself "what bank are they talking about"? Because I have never had a problem with them. I read about long waits on phone. But they have where you can get a call back instead of waiting. They tell you where you are in the list so you have an idea how long the wait may be. Depending on the time you are calling as with any business you should expect a wait. Read about denying payment. They send an alert to your phone for suspicious activity all you have to do is reply to text. I am amazed that they are getting bad comments about protecting your account!! Especially when all you had to do was text yes that you acknowledge the transaction. We all know that when we deposit checks into our accounts that all money will not be available until it is verified. They give you a certain amount immediately but the brunt of deposit is on hold for a couple of days. Most banks do a hold but do not let you have any of the money till funds are verified. I also seen something about scams. I had fallen for a few scams myself. When I informed bank of these they immediately stopped anything coming from that debit card and told me they would send me a new card by the next day or I could go into a branch and get one same day. They put funds back in my account and investigated issues. I was also informed that I would have to pay back funds if they found that I was not being honest about the scams. They also told me new card was available to use immediately. I was given my new debit # so I could go into my account and change my info on all my bills that I had auto pay for. I believe that some of the issues people have with this credit union is of their own doing not the credit union. I have always had great customer service in person and on the phone. I have used Navy Federal in numerous states and the service is 100% everywhere. I tell everyone that Navy Federal is the best bank I have ever had. And they truly try to protect the accounts of all their members. Keep up the great service Navy Federal I know I appreciate everything you do!

Their mistake caused my husband's credit score to drop 12 points. Then Saturday night I logged into my checking account and noticed that there were 6 charges from Hong Kong! I get an alert for every transaction and didn't receive any notifications for any of these charges. I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get this resolved and they said they couldn't explain how someone was able to access my account. They finally agreed to close my account and open a new account. Then they wanted to charge me for new checks.

There is always a long line inside because 1 teller is on duty. If you're lucky, a 2nd teller may be around, but for the most part, they come up to you while you wait in line to encourage you to use the indoor ATMs. Pretty personable, right? I'm not going to lie, I really do enjoy walking into banks where there are 5-6 employees behind the counter and most of them will know your name. If I'm in a hurry, I'll use the outdoor or drive thru ATM. But honestly, this place is ran by a bunch of robots.

Each year I see a decline in customer service and free perks that used to be available for members. An example a notary is no longer available for the sale of your car. Also, last I checked there was not even a notary any longer at this bank. I suppose my last straw was after finding a $25.00 monthly fee added to my account. I went in - as I was not able to do it online to figure out what was going on. I was told the $25 monthly service fee was added if at each monthly statement period: An average beginning day balance of $15,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying deposits/investments must be met. So, shame on me for not following through and switching banks last year. I am now in the process of switching all of my direct deposits and bills over to another bank. Lesson learned. The only positive is the lollipop they give out to ease the pain of the banking experience. I guess it equates to going to the dentist and having a root canal.
