I called around to a couple places and was met with businesses who made me feel like an inconvenience for asking questions or ones who wanted to charge me an extra $40 for them having to use a ladder. There was also a place with an F rating with the BBB. Least to say I was definitely not feeling comfortable with what I was finding. Then I got this advertisement in the mail for BTU Comfort Solutions. They were offering a cleaning or diagnostic service for $69 so I decided to give them a call and see if they were going to try and bamboozle me as well. I spoke with Ann who was immediately pleasant and friendly, she did not try and rush me off the phone, instead she patiently explained the services they offer, answered all of my questions, and even told me she'd have one of the service techs explain everything in detail to me since I confessed I was pretty ignorant about the a/c. Something else that was great? Their price was their price. They weren't going to charge me $95 for 30 minutes then $90 an hour after that like some other companies. There were no extra costs unless I needed products like more coolant (freon). They also had evening hours (5-7pm) and had a spot open for the very next day! Day of there was an issue with my appointment time being delayed due to a longer work time at the appointment before mine and a lack of communication between the tech, the office, and me. So I was a bit frustrated in being hot, sweaty, and not knowing what was going on. I got a hold of Peter, the owner, and he sincerely apologized and explained what had happened. This was a fluke and did not represent how they normally do their business. Christian, the tech, finally showed up and did a thorough job of checking out my a/c unit, showing me where the filter was, and explaining everything that he was doing. Turns out my circuit breaker was not switched on and that was the problem. (I know, I know, I feel silly, but in my defense how was I supposed to know the previous homeowners turned it off? I know, still not a good excuse...). Ann called me the next morning to further apologize and to offer me a comp towards a service if I still wanted one. I declined since everything worked out in the end and my a/c was just fine. I even told her that because of how they handled things I would be using their company again in the fall for a yearly check-up of my furnace. Mistakes happen, what was important to me was that BTU seemed to be genuine from the start. They recognized their error, they still had their tech check out my a/c unit even though it was getting pretty late, they sincerely apologized, they didn't charge me, staff was educated on the importance of communicating, and they even offered a comp towards a future service! Good job BTU! You're alright in my book.

Having been burned once before myself I started asking questions about the quoted coupon price and quickly learned this seemed like another bait and switch (cleaning was $59 but didn't mention the $130 service fee to come to your house, etc). On a whim tried Climate Service that installed parent's system 30 years ago and found that the original owner's son is running the business. They quoted a price of ~$99 (don't remember exactly) that included everything including the service call. The owner and his wife came when they promised, were professional, their prices seemed fair and most important I never felt like they were trying to pull a fast one on me. I knew the system was old but I felt like they knew exactly what they were doing and were honest in the recommendations, never trying to push me towards the most expensive option. Having older parents I worry about unscrupulous vendors. Very nice family run business, definately would recommend!

He was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and explained things to me clearly (without condescension!). Campbell's Heating and Air does hot water tank installs, heating and air conditioning installs, cleanings, and repairs and ventilation work. Dale's licensed and my understanding is that he does free estimates.

We called the hvac company that we had used for years and they told us it was a 2 or 3-day wait. Our realtor said call Safco they responded immediately and did a terrific job. Lenny serviced one of the properties. he was on time didn't keep me waiting said the unit just needed some minor cleaning not a big deal . the technician that went to the other property took care of the no heat problem for the tenants without us having to even go there.. what a pleasure. Also Mitch came out on a Saturday to assess another property. They understand what it means to be in the service business.

Not only were they there in less than an hour, they also were able to make the repair (cleaning the flame sensor) without any unnecessary charges or hassle.

I don't think I can say enough positive about this firm or it's owner. My whole house air conditioner's compressor died. He said he could replace the compressor, but this is the last year parts would be available for this unit, ( it's gotta be 25 years old.). It would cost about half of what a new unit would cost, and any future repairs would likely not be possible. We went with the new unit. The next day my house and yard were swarming with HVAC guys. One team replacing the unit outside, the other in the attic removing the old coil,evaporator pan, etc. and replacing them with new. There were, at various times during the day, two company trucks and three private cars parked in our drive, all engaged in the job. Finished in one day, a technician dropped by the next day to check out how things looked in the attic, ( I found out later it had to do with the drainage of the pan and such.) Unfortunately as we had just experienced a huge rare August cool-down, we hadn't turned on the air as of the time of checkup. The next day the heat returned the air went on and all was well until my wife went through the room below the newly replaced coil and pan, and the ceiling was dripping water and sloughing the plaster topcoat from the ceiling. The evaporator pan was not draining properly. Despite the fact that it was about 8:20PM, the contractor raced over, rigged a temporary fix to drain the water outside, and said he would take care of the cost of the repairs. The drywall guys are scheduled to come Monday. So this contractor knew enough to do a drainage check the day after the install, but as luck would have it, the check took place before the problem could have appeared, due to our not having turned on the air, and rather than trying to turn the "finger of blame" towards me for whatever reason, he was appreciative that I wasn't yelling and screaming about the damage, and just said he'd cover the expense. Kudos to him and his upbringing for being honest, forthright and acting with integrity regarding the entire affair. He's definitely my "go to" guy!
