If you want your food warm and delivered quickly, don't use the online order for delivery. They default to Uber and there was no option for me to choose (and pay for) faster service/express delivery. I texted the driver and he called me back only to tell me there were 3 orders to be dropped off before mine, and he was at that time waiting for an order took forever finish. And before you think, "then don't tip" first, it's really not the driver's fault, but also, you have to out the tip amount in when you submit. I was initially told it would be at my house in 20 minutes which is a little slow when I chose ASAP, but that became 30, then 45 minutes. I would have gone and gotten it if I'd known up front the time it would take. Went the other day around 5 or 6. Ordered one plate of food. It didnt take too long at all. However, what I was told came with the plate I ordered it did not come with. It was suppossed to come with rice and mac salad. However it came with rice piled high and a couple pieces of meat for the fire chicken, for the Katsu there were 3 pieces of chicken. Cold, rubbery and gross. There was no mac salad, it was a green salad with no dressing at all. I mean they werent even that busy. Absolutely love Hawaiian bbq because of the huge portions! You can always eat it for two meals. The restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Service was friendly and greeted us warmly. They had a fair amount of tables inside the restaurant. My boyfriend loves the chicken katsu and I usually go for the short ribs. Ordered the Ohana meal online and pick up time was in about 25 minutes, happy about that. This was the second time I've ordered this meal, and sadly it fell short. I ordered the chicken Katsu, white fish and the barbecue Hawaiian beef for my 3 proteins. The meal also comes with white rice, macaroni and veggies. Chicken Katsu, island white fish, rice and macaroni were all delicious. The veggies on the other hand, were disappointing. Nothing but cabbage and two broccoli florettes is what I was given. If I would've known, I would've removed the veggies and added more macaroni or rice , which was an option online. The Hawaiian barbecue beef had great flavor, but many chewy pieces. My first experience with the Ohana meal was a few years ago and was great. After this meal experience, I know what not to order in the future. Also, the island white fish description is very ambiguous. A description of what type of fish that is being served, would be very helpful online when ordering . After picking up the meal, I headed over to grab a couple of sauces, no option to add to your order online. I was given plenty forks and napkins, The meal says it feeds 3 to 4 people. Crappy service, placed an online order on the Ono site for delivery and under special request I asked for 10+ teriyaki sauces $57 and some change the total came out to and received not even one sauce. I called spoke to a female she said call back in 15-20 mins manager is on break, called back again manager is on break call back in 15 mins. Called back got a female and asked to speak to manager and got a female explained everything was told "I am sorry we got a catering order and got busy and forgot to add the sauces". I said so what can you do to fix it, she said you can come in and get them, I said I placed it for delivery because I have no vehicle right now. She says yeah I don't know what I can do, I said are you the manager she says no, I said I want to speak to the manager she gives the phone to Manuel and I explained it again. I am told to call Uber Eats to get a refund, I said I didn't place my order with Uber Eats I placed it on your website and he argued that I placed it on Uber Eats when I do not even have the app. I have the screen shot of the order from your site. I had ordered my food, everything was fine until midway through eating it i realized there was a maggot in my food. In complete shock i asked my husband who was also eating his own plate and he confirmed it was indeed a maggot. Ingredients for those are hella easy to come by here in the States. Hubby orders Kalua Pig/Katsu mixed plate while I order katsu for our 4 kids and me. The Kalua Pig was not Kalua Pig. It didn't have any smoked flavor. Not even Liquid Smoke. Even the katsu was just meh. Not bad, just meh. And they fill the bottom of the plate with cabbage and broccoli, which um, what? Just. No. And no katsu sauce either. Even my baby, who eats cat food and bugs, didn't want any of the meat. She just ate our rice. Which was sticky rice, thankfully. Service was decent. Staff seems friendly and professional. Seems like this is geared more towards the Cali folk. But if you're a Hawaii Local looking for a good plate lunch place, it might be best to go to L&L, or better yet, just make it yourself. Craving for Hawaiian BBQ, my family and I decided to visit Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Menifee. We ordered three of the chicken katsu plate and one grilled chicken plate during our visit. The chicken katsu was delicious. It was perfectly crispy while also keeping the moisture of the chicken intact. Underneath the chicken was boiled cabbage. This balanced out the katsu sauce that was provided making the combination with the rice terrific. The grilled chicken was savory and soft. Exceptional food. We were skeptical walking in because we go to Hawaii and get the real thing there. The bbq beef was SO tender and so flavorful. The rice was cooked perfectly and the Mac salad was so authentic as well. Perfectly salted unlike most places which leave you with bland tasting Mac salads. Love this place! Reminds me of the o.g. plates back home. Nice portions and the staff is always nice. Not huge inside, but enough seating for a few parties of 4 or 5. Located near Krispy Kreme with lots of parking available. It can get busy at night and during weekends but there is plenty of parking in the lot of the shopping center. The prices aren't bad for what you get. As always, inflation is inevitable and the prices have gone up over the last few years. I don't mind because whenever I get the itch for good island food, this place hits the spot! They do have a few selections of Aloha Maid drinks which is nice. Just seeing them makes me want to go back home for a vacay!
