I'm not going to lie, my first impression was, "Ehh... I hope this is good," just because trying a new place for the first time can go either way. It's kind of like going on a first date and figuring out pretty quickly whether it's your kind of place or not. Fortunately, Ono Hawaiian BBQ ended up being much better than expected. California food has honestly been impressing me, and this place kept that streak going. Coming from Texas, I still believe a lot of things are bigger and better back home, but for the price I paid, the portion size on the #24 Island Fire Chicken was very solid. This was more than enough food for one person, and I could easily see two adults sharing it. The Island Fire Chicken was the highlight. The heat level was just right. I would describe it as mild, possibly medium for some, but not overly spicy. It is definitely nowhere near Hot Cheeto or Taki level heat, so most people should feel comfortable ordering it. The chicken itself was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Paired with the grilled onions, it was a simple but satisfying combination. The plate came with two scoops of rice, a generous portion of macaroni salad, and steamed vegetables underneath the chicken and onions. The vegetables appeared to be cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. Everything tasted fresh, and the portion sizes were consistent across the plate. The macaroni salad stood out as particularly good. I also tried the katsu sauce and teriyaki sauce with the rice. The dish did not need any additional sauce, but both were flavorful. The katsu sauce paired especially well with the rice. The restaurant itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and the service was quick. Even around noon, the wait time was only about 7 to 10 minutes from ordering to receiving the food. The interior has a similar feel to Hawaiian-style fast casual spots with island music playing, but still maintains its own identity. Next time, I would like to try the musubi, which I did not notice on my first visit, and the ribs also looked very appealing. The employee at the counter recommended the beef and pork as popular choices, but the Island Fire Chicken was easily the standout for me. Overall, this was a great experience. Good food, generous portions, quick service, and friendly staff. I would definitely return the next time I am in Rialto. I can't speak for anyone else cause I'm not from Cali but I did enjoy my time here and when I go to restaurants I usually go for what they're known for and usually don't order off the menu items (unless they're known for them) if that makes sense hence a lot of reviews for restaurants (even this one) get blown out of proportion especially if you're grabbing Crab Rangoon's at a Hawaiin Spot, like make it make sense that's like grabbing a burrito at a donut shop and being upset cause they're known for their donuts, remember it's probably just an upsell item we're in America people big business is big business and every other establishment is your competition so why not copy and paste it at your restaurant as well, if that makes sense . And I'm not knocking Yelp just seems there are always so many bad reviews on here and yet you go on Google Maps and the reviews show otherwise. read more

Every time we come to this location, no matter the time, they're already closing up tables and chairs. It's honestly ridiculous! This place closes at 9:30 on weekends, and we arrived at 7 PM, yet as you can see in the photos, most of the seating was already shut down. This isn't a one-time issue either, it's happened to us as early as 5 PM! We came with a party of six, including a small child who needed a high chair, and there was nowhere to sit except those closed tables. When we asked if they could open them, we were told no because they're "short-staffed." But this happens every single time we come, so it's hard to believe it's a staffing issue. It honestly feels like the tables are being closed early so employees don't have to clean them later, which ends up pushing customers out during normal business hours. I've been coming here for years well not to this location, but Owen knows how I am barbecue and let me tell you if you haven't tried it. The teriyaki combo comes with white rice, macaroni salad, and the teriyaki and what I love is that you can get as many sauce teriyaki sauces as you want plus I love the atmosphere. It's always clean and the customer service is great. They always attend and help you out if you don't know what to order really recommend you come check them out right here in the city of Rialto. The food is great; the service, not so much. I went in with a coupon for buy one combo get one free. I have had it for months and clearly said it would expire on Dec 31. So I have a week left. The guy behind the counter asks another employee if the coupon is still valid. They are both looking at the coupon for a few minutes when I interject, "it says it's valid until Dec 31st." The guy is clearly annoyed and starts to reread the coupon. I just wait and he finally concedes that the coupon is good. It felt like they were taking it out of his pay or something. Carla upfront was the only one welcoming and willing to work. The other workers at 8:50 when I entered made me feel like they hated i was purchasing from there establishment. My orders were 363 & maybe 358 (i threw my receipt away) . I came here today with my family before a movie showing that ended with poor service. Manager Vicente gave our order to someone else. An easy mistake that could have been avoided if he had asked for the customer's receipt. I understand that mistakes happen but what I found to be the worst customer service was the way he handled it. After the young man that helped us at the register told Vicente what he had just done, he shows no concern and says to him "Just make a new one", and Vicente then turns back to talk to his friend. Vicente was too preoccupied having a conversation with his good pal that we received no apology from him or bothered to take responsibility for his mistake. Clearly Vicente lack of customer service skills demonstrates his need of retraining. Not all team members should be given the role as manager. We asked the young man that had helped us for a refund because we could not wait another 15min for our order and miss our showing at Cinemark. The so-called BBQ ribs was a mega thin piece of sliced meat that could have passed for beef jerky. We have a similar Hawaiian BBQ out here in the desert different owner different chain. Great food but the guys need to be a little more responsible. I was quoted 15-20 mins for my phone order. After paying, I would think I would get my food but decided to be patient, giving them the benefit of the doubt that one coworker would relay to the other that I have paid and waiting on my phone order. After waiting, now 30 minutes, I decide to take the lead and ask how much longer for my food. One of the guys, told me sorry and hands me the food waiting to be picked up. Communication is key.
