I ordered my son chicken katsu and the chicken was still pink. Went to the worker to ask if they can cook it more, he told me that the chicken will be pink but it's cooked. Umm, no it was raw! I told him I'm from Hawaii and we order chicken katsu all the time, he then proceeded to tell me that this is not an authentic Hawaiian restaurant, I get it, but to serve my son raw chicken is uncalled for. They took the plate back and he said he will ask the cooks to make a new one. I got my son's food back and it was literally still raw. They basically just reheated it in the microwave or something. We just threw it away, not worth going back and forth with it. Never again eating here.

Great Food and it's a hit or miss on the cashier. Some could use a little more training but there's a youthful vibrant dirty-blonde haired kid that ALWAYS makes coming here worth the drive. I found out his name was Jessie tonight after visiting again... His customer service skills are beyond amazing! Wish more places had a Jessie in them! I live in the Merced area and I drive out here for the great food AND continue returning because of the great service Jessie gives. I usually order the family meal. The great thing is you can pick and choose from their extensive menu. I normally order the steamed veggies, White rice, crispy sliced chicken (Chicken Katsu), BBQ teriyaki chicken (no sauce). And then buy a coconut drink. Literally you sip from a nice long straw straight out of the actual coconut they offer. You take the coconut home to eat when your done. Yum I absolutely recommend this place, especially when the service from the kid is so great.

BBQ plate with no rice and extra veggies (cabbage).

Not a fancy restaurant but good for a fast meal! Ordered online and food ready at time promised. Food tasted fresh and order was correct even with our special requests. Employees pleasant. If you eat at the restaurant the atmosphere is not like transitional restaurants. Just tables in a big room. Also you order at the counter and pick up. Veggies consist of cabbage only. I like it but know that you will not be given carrots, etc. Also parking is terrible!! But they give you a lot of food so you may want to walk off the extra calories.

Ordered a mini chicken bbq plate Got two small pieces of chicken Not a full scoop of rice and not a full scoop of Mac Not coming back to this location

Wrong drinks. Should be two diet Cokes, and a sprite.

Ordered on Uber eats. The driver that does not speak or read English is expected to fill the drink cups when they pick up the order from Ono Hawaiian BBQ. Unacceptable!! He brought 3 large drinks filled with water, something dirty water looking and something orange. This was after hi to g around the building for where he dropped off my order. He didn't even follow the delivery instructions and you expect him to complete the food order! Absolutely unacceptable. Horrible customer service.

Food was fantastic. Staff was great and had no problem not adding cabbage and adding extra Mac. Food was really good. They allow dining inside now. Will be returning again

Placed a 2 plate order for a scheduled pick up 2 hours in advance. When I arrived for my order, they were just putting it in the bag which made pick up easy. Everything I ordered was there when I checked! I ordered a Shrimp & BBQ Chicken Combo plate and a Pick Two Aloha plate with Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and Grilled Teriyaki Chicken. We opted for more rice instead of the salads which worked great because the rice was fantastic! The veggies in the combo plate was just cabbage, no broccoli. The Hawaiian BBQ Chicken was great, even as a leftover the next day. The Grilled Teriyaki Chicken pretty good too. My only complaint is with the shrimp. They were too greasy which kind of made them soggy. They weren't inedible but it might be a big deal to someone who wanted crispier shrimp. Each plate came with two sauces which was enough for our order. Overall it was a good meal for an average price.

This Tri-Tip was so tender I could've sliced it with an old butter knife from Grandma's kitchen drawer and never missed a beat. And the flavor? Absolutely unreal. I swear that cow was out in the pasture happily munching on fresh grass about two seconds before it made its way to my plate. Every bite tasted so fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor that it almost seemed unfair to every other Tri-Tip I've ever eaten. This wasn't just dinner--it was a full-blown meat experience. Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked so perfectly that it should probably come with a warning label: "Caution: May permanently ruin all future Tri-Tip for comparison purposes." 10/10. I'd gladly skip a salad, ignore my diet, and make questionable life decisions all over again for another plate of this masterpiece.

I ordered the pork belly sandwich, but it wasn't what I expected based on the menu. Instead of the tender, sliced pork belly I was anticipating, it came with three large chunks of meat covered in barbecue sauce. It honestly didn't resemble what I would typically consider a pork belly sandwich, and I found myself a little confused by the presentation. The macaroni and cheese had good flavor, although it seemed a bit dry and firm, as if it had been sitting for a while. I understand that everyone has different styles of barbecue, and this may have simply been an off day. I'm sharing this feedback in the hope that it's helpful, because I know many people speak highly of Big Vic's. I truly hope this was just an exception, and I'd be willing to give them another try in the future.

They've got two picnic tables under tents and a small parking lot (about 10-12 spots), plus plenty of additional parking just across the street within easy walking distance. I ordered the 2-meat combo ($25) with brisket and ribs, choosing collard greens and baked beans for my sides. My wife ordered the tri-tip sandwich with yams and baked beans. They were cool enough to sell me a 1-meat plate instead of forcing the combo, which saved me a few bucks--and I appreciated that. There's a $1 credit card fee, which didn't bother me at all. My wife loved her meal and said it was a lot of food and everything tasted great. My brisket had a nice bark and a legit smoke ring. The ribs were tender and fell right off the bone. The baked beans were solid, but the collard greens really stood out--some of the best I've had at a restaurant. Prices are average for BBQ, portions are generous, and I had enough left over for dinner later. You can tell this is real BBQ--they've got a huge BBQ pit smoking meats, and it shows in the flavor. The BBQ sauce was very good. The two guys working inside were friendly, answered all my questions, and made ordering easy. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back.

We traveled from Modesto, and after trying the food, I'd gladly make that trip again. Whether you're planning a special gathering or just looking for a reason to take a quick drive for incredible barbecue, this place is worth it. If you're dining in, the shady outdoor seating is the perfect spot to relax, enjoy your meal, and the welcoming atmosphere. We ordered enough to feed about 15-16 people, and every single person left happy. That's saying a lot because we have some pretty picky eaters in our family! The ribs were tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, while the mac and cheese quickly became the crowd favorite. You can tell there's real care and attention behind every dish...the flavors are bold without being overwhelming, and everything tastes homemade with its own unique touch. The staff was welcoming and friendly from start to finish, making the whole experience even better. Great barbecue has a way of bringing people together, and this meal did exactly that. Between celebrating the holiday and seeing everyone go back for seconds, it made our Fourth of July even more memorable.

This review has been drafted for a while and as I'm clearing my storage I reflected on our time here & it was memorable. The food was absolutely delicious! Only reason I held back on a 5 was that not everyone in my party had a great experience with their meals. The Mac & Cheese here is not ideal, it's missing some seasoning and more cheese. My hubby's ribs were overcooked but Ivan was quick to check in on us and correct our issues. For my entrée, I ordered the hanger steak cooked medium--it came out perfect. It was served with Roth Fries, which might honestly be the best garlic fries I've had in a long time. Fresh garlic, Parmesan, parsley... just done right. The steak was topped with chimichurri and came with two dipping sauces--everything worked. Even though the restaurant wasn't busy, the service was VERY slow. Luckily I was not in a rush. After my first experience and a few weeks later, I decided to go here for a steak dinner. I figured service would be slow, but I didn't care. I wanted good food. The burger was good the last time I was here, so I figured the steak couldn't be bad. WRONG. Ordered the Prime ribeye ($36). The ribeye quality was poor. If i had to guess, it was not prime but was more like a low quality choice steak. It was chewy. There was a big chunk of fat and it felt grisly. Honestly - if I had to guess what cut of steak it was, I would have said it was a "choice cut of chuck." (Note: I am not accusing them that it was a chuck steak, but felt like I was eating a chuck steak.) Then for dessert, I ordered the creme brulee cheese cake to go. I rarely order dessert, but I love both creme brulee and cheese cake. Back in my hotel, I opened up the desert and was disappointed. It was basically a cheese cake there they had a THICK hard caramelized sugar on top. I guess it was the caramelized sugar that mad them call it creme brulee. You couldn't eat the sugar because it was HARD. Disappointed in the dessert. I would go back there for the same burger. However, I don't think I would ever order anything else from this place. If I had to rate this restaurant, I would have given it a 4 on my first visit but a 1 on my second visit.
