Her initial rate was $3000, nearly twice the other quotes I received. However, I loved Arianna's work and felt that the steep price point was worth it to ensure high-quality service far in advance. Two months after I signed the contract and paid the deposit, Arianna's assistant Annu emailed me that "Arianna is unfortunately unavailable for your date as she will be traveling that week for another engagement that was confirmed before your booking." I was frustrated and very disappointed. They said that as a substitute, I could work with a team member (Himani) for a nominal 10% discount. This felt completely inadequate given the inconvenience and late notice, and above all, the fact that I was stressed and wasting time dealing with something I thought I'd finished. Keep in mind that Arianna is the owner. Her business is not branded as an agency with multiple stylists. You're booking with Arianna, and I specifically booked based on her portfolio. Even if it was an agency, her rates (as the owner) would be higher than her team members'. When I asked for Himani's rates, they reiterated the total discount provided and said "the rates for our team artists have already been provided to you." I find this hard to believe, but their lack of transparent pricing online makes it hard to know. After weeks of back and forth to get even a slight additional discount, I asked them to just refund my deposit. Ultimately, price was not the deciding factor. I just did not comfortable working with them anymore, especially if something else went wrong in the future. I felt like I was asking for concessions despite the fact that the error was on their end. I understand that honest mistakes happen, but our exchanges made me start to doubt they had double-booked me by accident. It seemed more and more likely that a more lucrative client with a multiple-day wedding had come up. Arianna seems very skilled with hair and makeup. However, I'd caution that if something goes wrong with your booking, her team may not handle it professionally. That's just not something you want to risk with a bridal vendor. Re: owner's response: Arianna, I appreciate the response, but there were many chances to make it better. You did not communicate directly with me at any point, despite responding to my review within an hour of posting. I had to negotiate for additional discounts, they were not openly offered. And while I received my deposit back, I did not get a single response to my email to confirm this or close things out. I made the decision to post this review after a lot of thought. You say we "didn't get to experience working together," but my experience was that I was not ever able to due to the error. I wish you the best.

The main reason I did not go forward with booking with her was because of the haphazard nature of the hair part of the trial. Vian did not part my hair, comb my hair, or use hairspray, and just draped the headpiece on instead of tying it to the hair. She told me the trial is to only get an "idea" of what the hair would look like and made me undo the hairstyle after getting pics so she could get the hair piece and pins back. I was pretty stunned because I paid almost double to include hair in the trial rather than just makeup, so I was expecting to get more than just an "idea", I wanted to see how the hairstyle would stay throughout the day. The end result was messy hair (attached a photo) and my sister who was watching commented after that she could have done a better job. In addition, Vian told me I needed to get a haircut for curtain bangs before the wedding in order for the hairstyle to work. This felt like an excuse, I'd expect her to work with the hair I have and make the best hairstyle possible, not fault me for it not looking good. Afterwards I had a hair and makeup trial with a different artist for the exact same price. At this one, I got a full hairstyle with combing, hairspray, pins that stayed on for the full day and I wasn't told that I needed to cut my hair, and it looked much better. I ended up proceeding with booking this person for the wedding instead. For the makeup, later that day I noticed that there was a smudge on my eyebrow. I checked photos and it was there in the very first photo my sister took of me after the trial was completed. I was surprised Vian didn't notice and fix this and this made me question her makeup skills as well. Style wise the makeup didn't match what I had on my Pinterest board that I showed her -- those had softer, lighter colors but I was given a darker, higher contrast look. To be fair, she asked what lip color I wanted and I told her she could choose because I didn't know (not experienced with makeup). However, the second makeup artist was so much more thorough -- she looked through my Pinterest board and asked things like, "these are all warm toned but this one is cool toned -- do you want warm or cool toned" and was able to distinguish what I liked from that, and I ended up with a look I was much happier with. Perhaps Vian would work better for someone who has a strong idea of what they're looking for, versus someone completely new to makeup (me).

She hired an assistant to the wedding, he was also late. The assistant had to show Tracy how to use the airbrush sprayer. Sadly, the assistant was not an updo professional. He put on no hair protectant and had to keep trying to smooth the curls, with a very hot iron, because he spiraled them way too tight and short next to the face. He was shown a picture of a half up with a bun. He did not do a bun he pulled the sides back and put in a bunch of bobby pins over and over again, calling that good. I almost cried before my daughter's wedding due to this stressful situation. The mother of the bride missed her daughter getting into her gown because Tracy's assistant had to keep trying to redo hair that ended up looking not that good. It was very stressful and my hair was fried. The person he did before me at least had time to redo her hair. The bride's hair was not done the same way as in the trial since Tracy did not take a pic and could not really remember how she did it so it took much longer and made one of the attendant late. It's in June, a wedding peak month, so after calling so many makeup artists recommended online, Chimi was the only one who called me back. I booked with her for a 3-hour lesson. We met at a conference room in her apartment complex. When I arrived, she had prepared everything and set up everything we needed. Before the lesson, she texted me to bring my own makeup and skin care products to the lesson, so I also brought my own. She carefully reviewed what I had used, and she gave me her advice on those products based on my skin conditions. We started from the basic skin care routine as getting well-conditioned skin is the foundation of pretty makeup. Then she applied makeup on my half face to explain to me all the techniques. After she finished my half face, I followed her instructions to apply the other half face. I am not a crafty person, so I kind of had a hard time on detailed eye makeup. Chimi was able to use a technique that simplified the process but achieved the same result, which was amazing. She also went over my current makeup products to tell me which one didn't work for me and which one I should use more. The advice helped me get rid of unnecessary makeup things but keep the essential things. We actually used more than 3 hours as planned. I was a bit anxious, but Chimi told me not to worry as she's happy to extend longer time to make sure that I learned what I needed.
