Won't lie that this was not on my radar for Eureka Springs, but my partner suggested it so we checked it out! When we found the visitor center (down some ramps that were pretty steep!), we decided to do the cheaper, non-guided tour because we were on a time crunch. We received some headsets with the audio loaded on them, and started our trek. (if I went back, I'd get the more expensive tour to get the guided tour element, which seemed to be an extra 30 minutes with a guide after you go through the caves). As we went through the caves, there is an audio overlay that tells you more about the caves. Unfortunately, some of the sign posts were no longer in place (We weren't sure where a couple of the stops were because the signs weren't there!), but it was easy enough to get yourself oriented with what the audio guide told you. Honestly, it was such a fun time, learned a lot of trivia, and a cool way to spend about an hour (we took forever in the caves bc they were fun!) on our weekend vacation. 4 stars due to the missing sign posts but 5 stars for the random fun to be had on the tour! read more

She was super knowledgeable and took her time to point out extra interesting things about the cave and answer all of our questions. I recommend doing the audio tour WITH the guided tour. Not the best cave I've ever visited but certainly not the worst. It has a very old time feel. Yes, I know caves are millions of eons old but I was speaking about the entrance, gift shop, and even the added conveniences in the cave: poured concrete walkways, lights, railing, etc. And, I've never been in a living cave where so many of the stalactites and stalagmites have been broken or sawed off. Since the cave was discovered over 150 years ago, it is probably due to earlier ignorance about the need to protect the natural beauty. It is a fairly quick tour - self guided but with headphones - about 20 minutes. You will see some lovely sights. Not a bad attraction for about $17 per person. read more

The self guided tour was absolutely awesome and the experience was enhanced because of an audio playing in individual headphones passed out before you went into the cave. We didn't wait long for the tour expert to meet us for the extended guided tour. Definitely worth the add-on purchase. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and very interactive we got to see and learn about even more of the caves. She even took it a step further an searched for living creatures for us to see like salamanders, frogs, and crickets. This is a perfect cave for kids and seniors as well. My husband was looking for some adventure on our mini vacation and we came across Onyx cave as an option. I had no idea what to expect but I am always up for an adventure! When you arrive, you go down a couple of large ramps and enter into a gift shop. You then pay, it was a little steep for what it is, but we were on vacay and didn't care. We were then asked to wait because they space everyone out. The wait wasn't too long and then we were handed headsets and sent on our way. The cave itself was SO cool. I just loved it. The reason for only three stars is that I could not stand the voice and content of the man talking on the website. I literally had to take it off because it was bothering me that much. I would have preferred a live guide, and for that price I don't see why not. Or just update the voice guide to be more modern. read more

We had a newborn with us in the group and didnt realize we wouldn't be able to use the stroller, But you can definitely walk it with the car seat. I had a small black light flash light with me and he said oh no you need something better, and handed me his personal black light to use on the tour. An exquisite experience! The first part is a self guided tour where you wear headphones that directs you and explains the history and science behind the caves. I did the part where you get a tour guide to show you the other parts that you can't see with the self guided tour. Highly recommend! James was my tour guide and he did not miss a beat! He showed and explained all of the history in the caves. They have other activities as well. One of them I ended up doing was you get this sand with a bunch of pretty rocks inside and you sift them out like panning for gold. Truly an unforgettable experience! read more

We had a really good time at the cave today. 1st of all it did not cost an arm and a leg to get into. I loved the cave, it was nice and cool. It had beautiful formations. I loved getting to use the head phones that told us about the caves and the history of the cave. I love the little things as it told a story like when you walk down into the cave on the right is an old still. It was pretty awesome. I was hoping to see a bat today but didnt but that is ok. I visited onyx Cave Park cause my friends said not to miss it, while i was in Eureka Springs. I had my mom with me who has trouble hearing and sometimes walking. Well, they have disabled parking, which we used for her. Then, we walked a mile, so it seemed to the shop. The shop was fair. Then we were given antiquated players, and quickly instructed how to use them with the limited blue tooth connection (probably not blue tooth)in the cave. We walked down another path to the entrance, and both of us used the hearing devices. It was such a bad recording,that I could hardly hear it, I knew my mom couldn't hear it. The inside of the cave is gorgeous, but so/so. Beautiful, but frustrating full of man made photo ops, with a short path and repeat to the entrance again. I've seen lot's of caves, and would not return to this nor would I take anyone to it. It's interesting once, if that. They need to improve on a few things. We left, walking through the shop which again is so/so. read more

don't waste your time here. my friend and i had scheduled axe throwing and drove a good distance (3 hrs) to make our time slot and when we got there the staff told us we couldn't do it because the boards were wet. no courtesy call to let us know or anything, which is frustrating since we could have used our time doing something better. we saw the "axe throwing" area outside and it's just plywood. very janky and overpriced for the looks of it. the cave tour is stupid and takes about 15 minutes. we were given headsets where most of the time we are listening to elevator music. if you enjoy elevator music and a short walk in the dark then this tour might be for you. also the website for this place is so dysfunctional don't even bother unless you like misleading tabs that lead to nothingness don't waste your time here read more

The highlight of the trip!!!! My cousin and I visited Onyx Cave Park Saturday and it was honestly the best experience I've had in Eureka. I was so nervous since I have an old leg injury and a fear of enclosed spaces. However, I have wanted to do this for years and wasn't going to let that stop me! I'm so glad I didn't. The entrance was deep and took a bit of patience down the steps, but once I got past that, it was worth it. Onyx Cave has hand rails so it's handicap accessible. You can wear headphones and listen to a narrator at various points along the way. There are many points for great photo opps and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Being able to conquer my fear was worth the 7.50 entrance fee. It's an experience I'll always remember and highly recommend to anyone who visits Eureka Springs, Arkansas, read more

We enjoyed our visit at Onyx Cave. A lot of places were closed this time of year so we were happy they were open! We liked being educated through the headphones as we walked through. Walking back we were able to take the headphones off and just take in the rest of the cave. We were bummed that we didn't see any bats, but that's not uncommon for this time of year. read more

If you have young children this can you experience is perfect, it is not long and it is easy to navigate. You will see many amazing formations and I recommend purchasing the gym or fossil find. The kids enjoy getting a bag of dirt and pouring it in the sieve and running it through the water to find out what treasures they have. Nice place, reasonable priced, when bringing young children keep a grip on them, some of the gates in the cave at the bottom a little one could easily slide under. All that is needed is to put some concrete anchors in bottom for a place to attach bottom of safety fence to so they can't push through. Staff was nice. read more
