Then the second lady did my toes again and refuses to cut my side nails. Obviously they don't have how to clean nails. They have the audacity to kick me out of the salon and told me I am rude. If I am rude I wouldn't give them a chance to have the second lady try to do my pedicure. Made appt online for 1pm but received an update that it was changed to 2:30PM. Not what o wanted bit it was my daughters only day off. First of all there was no name on bldg but did notice lights were on. We checked in for our appt and was told to pick out a color. Which are colored "gel" nails with magnets on them. I was seated at the spa pedicure chair. My daughter was next and Selena did her pedi and was done while I was still sitting. Cass started my pedicure and they couldn't find the color I picked and then ended up with the wrong one but they found it finally. Selena then came over and finished it and had to do the parts that Cass missed. I was there from 230PM to 5PM! I mean it was a good pedi. But the time it took was ridiculous. If you're after GelX and you got mistakenly sent to Onyx from the Apres website, you are in for a surprise. Onyx has Gel-X but their techs aren't very experienced. My friend and I went to get my nails done for my wedding and they thought we had an appointment for two so even though she wasn't planning on getting her nails done, she decided to go ahead with it and she regretted it immediately. The soak for her gel polish she was given was boiling hot and when she told the tech, she didn't do anything to cool it down. When the gel-x were applied and she put her hands in the curing light, she felt the liquid gel burning her fingers. Again, she mentioned it to the tech, and was told "oh it does get a bit hot sometimes". She asked for a white tip with a V shape and a nude color underneath. I kept checking on her and she was so upset, she went to the bathroom to "wash her hands" - she needed a break from the "torture". My nails came out okay, a bit on the thick side and not shaped exactly like I asked, but nothing I couldn't handle. Hers? We found another salon to have them removed immediately. She was crying she was so upset at how bad they were. There was no neutral color so you could see her true nails in the V, the liquid gel was still not fully set, and was globes on her fingers. It seems like the gal she worked with may have been a first timer with a customer but if so, I'd highly recommend she practice some more before trying again. ****EDIT**** After a response from the owner, you can tell they are quite defensive. I get it -- people read Yelp reviews and you still want people to visit your business -- but to call me a LIAR on a public platform when I offered a review of our experience in order to help you improve your business and let others know how it was for us? Definitely a red flag. My friend is too kind to speak up even when she receives terrible service so she would never say anything, but she begged me to call salons along our route home just to have the work she had done here removed. She was in tears. She may have had previous damage, but when you tell the tech things are too hot, they should do something to help you, not advise you to suffer through it. When you leave the salon, your gel should be set and dry, not still tacky and in globs on your skin under your nail. She still paid for her awful nails AND to have them removed at another salon. Worst $90 she's ever spent. I reimbursed her because I talked her into having her nails done when she was just along to watch my toddler. The techs were great with my toddler, giving her the color books and samples to play with and Cassie did a great job on my nails despite having to stop and let me chase after my girl several times so I gave her a nice tip, but my friend's experience was not so good. Maybe instead of telling people who leave bad reviews they are lying, you could be apologetic and take the constructive criticism with grace and humility. Ask them to contact you without bad mouthing them and they may even delete or change their review. As for me? This response from the owner made me remove one of the two stars I have this place. The youngest M has this week off school, so I took a couple of days off to torment her. I know her preference would be to spend the week glued to a screen watching mind numbing videos. I decided to do a mother daughter spa day (thanks for the idea, Jill!) I'd not been to Onyx Day Spa before, but it's conveniently located and had all the services we were interested in (mani/pedi/mini facial). I called when they opened at 9am, and they were able to arrange for our pampering to begin at 10:15. Young M has never had any spa treatments before, so I was hoping it would be a special day. It was. When Cass offered me coffee as we settled in, she offered M hot chocolate. Good move! Salina did our nails, and we were both very pleased with her work. And her personality. She's warm and down to earth. As a bonus, the selection of nail colors was more expansive than most places. M especially loved the mini facial by Carrie. Two hours later, we walked out of Onyx feeling relaxed and happy. They have a great team of women! read more

My husband decided to surprise me with a full package at this spa. It was my birthday and as soon as I walked in, I was welcomed by smiling faces. The owner even shook my hand and said Happy Birthday. To top things off, she had even bought cake, flowers, and gave me some complimentary soaps that I enjoy so much. The services were the best I've had in a while! From the mani/pedi, body treatment and massage - I can't say enough! The staff were all professional and easy going. We actually had great conversations throughout each process- everyone was so friendly and made me feel super comfortable. I really appreciated the fact that this place is appointment only so you don't get the loud rushed atmosphere like other places. Especially considering the pandemic. I went in for a mani, pedi, and a prenatal massage. The mani pedi was ok and then when I went in for my masssage it was really uncomfortable. I had to ask for a pillow to keep my head up and it seemed like she grabbed it from the couches in the lobby. She was going to just massage me fully clothed until I asked if I could take my shirt off. Really odd situation. She also left mid massage for 10 minutes to speak with one of her employees. All in all, I went in for the massage at 3:20 and then it ended at 4:07 with a 10 interruption in the middle. I went to pay and asked for a receipt and she said it would be texted to me. I recently went here for my birthday. Got a massage and facial (my first facial). The massage was good, that is where my one star is. My muscles are tight so he did a good job concentrating on what I asked him to. I do wish i would've known it was a male masseuse because i personally prefer a female. The facial was not worth the money. I wish I could get a refund! I should've asked. They use products that I felt like could be found at TJ Max or Target. I had a sheet mask and multiple other ones for the deep pore. But my skin looked exactly the same. The establishment did not look like a professional spa but just a warehouse. The staff are nice but I'm not sure who's running the show but it's a mess and the business model is weird. Although I've followed Salina for a few years, this was my first time scheduling an appointment with her at Onyx. As I expected, she had a welcoming smile on her face and was ready for me on time. I'm also a professional in the beauty industry and I know all too well how a lot of talented people are big headed, gossipy and only converse with you to gossip about you to their next client. Initially said I could reschedule no problem, but then said I'd need to pay all over. I learned I was charged $275 with no receipt or breakdown of what the cost was for. Was never given the no-show policy when I booked, and even though I was told three different things later(the third time I was told I'd receive partial credit) you'd think they'd work with me. I just can't catch a break with this place. Last night I booked an appointment online for an acrylic fill at 3:00pm today. I arrived at 2:50pm and there was no one at the front desk. Every time I've been here the reception desk is empty so this was nothing new to me. Around 3:00 I decided to just go to the back in case whoever was there didn't hear me come in. I went to the back and saw that the lights were off and no one was there despite music playing. However, i loved being the only one in salon. Cons: -The black chairs seen in a few of the pictures are not the ones they use. The chairs they have are brown with a pattern and after sitting on them for more than an hour they are not that comfortable. - They do not use the gel you see in one of the pictures just regular powder Pros: -Not crowded - They do not use fake nails, instead shape your nail with a form and powder. -In majority of the nail salons they speak in a different language which makes me feel uncomfortable at times because i know they are talking about me. Let me first say that this is now the only place I come to for any spa service! Booking is super easy, a simple phone call and I get two text reminders of my appointment. The modern feel of the main building is really cute & then the facial/massage rooms are incredibly relaxing peaceful. I get a lot of things done here and I absolutely love the facials, I have problematic skin & coming here consistently has kept my acne/scars at bay. I also thoroughly enjoy the massages & body wraps... I naturally carry a lot of stress in my body & the hot stone massage gives me instant relief! Excellent customer service from scheduling an appt over the phone to receiving my pedicure. They moved to a new space which is quite nice. Cass was meticulous with my polish! The one critique I have was the lack of attention to cuticles which, along with polish, is what I look for in a good pedicure. (A great massage is always welcomed!) Particularly since it's a bit more here than nail salons. And yes, this is an upper scale salon so the pricing reflects that. But I would go back because this salon is really nice and close by. Salina is meticulous - so although the mani/pedi takes a long time - this means she takes the time to make sure my nails look good and I am happy with them. I have been to her 3 times so far. The second time - She spent a long time trying different glitters and polishes until I found the look I was going for. She is also very sweet - so the entire experience is enjoyable. I have tried a handful of other nail places in the area. My experience with other places is that the gel manicures didn't last a full 2 weeks before they started to either bubble, chip or both. I wanted to have a nice spa day for my best friend's 29th birthday. I haven't shared this since because I didn't want to ruin her day or make her feel bad about an experience that isn't her fault at all. So this is me finally sharing that experience, about a year later. First off, we walk into the salon and the place clearly looks like it is under construction which I completely understand, they just moved locations and sometimes you do what you gotta do when you are running a business. I requested a full spa day- facials, massage, and pedi. They reserved the entire place for just us 2 which was nice. We are brought to the back and turns out my friend and I are going into 2 separate rooms. I guess that was ok? I was hoping we'd be in the same room together like typical spa days I've had but I had to brush it off. Then a man wearing a headband comes out of the massage room. I was like hm...I'd figure businesses like these would be more mindful of women who experience sexual assault and try to schedule a female masseuse for women. Or at least tell me over the phone ahead of time...but whatever, we were already there. I get my facial first, my friend goes into her room for her massage. The facial was ok. I could have definitely done that service myself. She even used a spin brush that was out of battery so she was constantly pushing the button to get it to spin. LOL. Then it was time for my friend and I to switch- *trigger warning-sexual assault* I walk into the massage room and the place feels like a converted bathroom. Definitely expected a better environment. The masseuse requests I undress, so I did. He enters the room and begins to work on me. He starts to ask me questions about my tattoos, where I'm from, etc. The moment I say "my husband and I," he stops and looks at me wide eyed and says, "oh, you're married?" I'm like...YEP! :) I continue to bring up my husband to make things clear, just in case. He did a great job on my back because I was super sore from working out. Then, he walks over to the bottom half of my body. He works on my legs, then he moves up higher and higher toward my crotch area. I start to cringe and freeze as he repeatedly massages the groin through the inside of my underwear literally swiping my vagina with the side of his hand. Not a slight graze either. He was really in there. I have received MANY massages, and NEVER has anyone done this to me. I'm laying there questioning everything. I had no idea how to react in the moment. [Do I say something? Or should I just shut up because I don't want to ruin my best friend's spa day?] He finally stops. Tells me to flip over. He walks back up to my top half and asks "would you like me to massage here? It's very tight."- he places his hands on my upper chest area. I was super sore from working out so I said sure. I did not know he was going to go all in. He caressed my breasts repeatedly, made a V with his fingers as he moved down my breast to make sure he doesn't touch my nipples, didn't even work on my upper chest area. I was so uncomfortable. I was finally done. My friend seemed to have enjoyed her services so I didn't say anything. They gave us champagne while we waited for our pedicures which was an ok experience as well. I've had way better pedis. Paint job was uneven and there were small drips all over my toes. LOL but whatever...maybe the person that was working on me wasn't great at it. I just wanted to get out of there. We were finally done. Paid a lot of money. Definitely not worth it. Don't think I got a receipt either. 2 weeks later, our polish peeled off. And I am still grossed out by that masseuse. I hope he doesn't work there anymore. Never coming back anyway. Eck. *EDIT* One of the owners commented and is clearly dismissing my experience. She is deflecting by putting the blame on me for not contacting them sooner and calling the timing of this review "funky." Regardless of the time frame, THIS IS NOT OK. It is clear where their moral values stand. I do not wish these experiences on anyone else who chooses to come here. Upon scheduling your appointment, confirm who will be working on you as they clearly have communication issues stated in prior reviews as well. It is such a shame the owner, Sara K, lacks the capability to take responsibility for their staff member's actions, does not even apologize, and can not respond with even a little compassion. She starts her comment off with "This must be a joke" and still continues to dismiss my experience through private message. A phone call will clearly not fix this. read more

I went to Onyx Day Spa for my birthday (compliments of my lovely partner). I always wanted to try this location because of the reviews so I had very high hopes going into the experience. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. First, when I arrived, I was greeted by a male massage therapist who informed me that my appointment was with him. Initially, I was caught off guard because I thought my appointment was with a woman. It would have been nice to know beforehand. Because this was a prepaid gift, I rolled with it. With that said, he was very professional and gave a great deep tissue massage. The two-star rating is in reference to the "spa" manicure and pedicure that I received. I have definitely had better mani/pedi experiences. The manicurist wasn't very skilled. In fact, her technique prompted me to ask how long she'd been doing nails (it was that bad). Both services felt rushed (even though I was the only person in the shop) and the end result was poor quality. My manicure and pedicure began peeling two days later. They were sloppy, they didn't touch my cuticles, after a week it looked like they were ready to pop off, very fake looking (I know they are fake but with my job, my nails are just too weak to just had done a manicure) and I specifically asked for a "natural look". Now for the good stuff! Cass had tried so hard to get me in before my vacation but it didn't work out, but it was ok, I just dealt with it for the week. But as soon as we had the chance, she scheduled me in with Alex this morning. And, let me tell you...Alex took care of me! She knew exactly what i was looking for! I was ready to have her take them off and start all over..but another technician just advised we should just do a fill, shorten the nails. Then Alex said she'd shorten them, thin the acrylic, and instead of "filling" my set she use gel base. Then created a plan to strengthen and work on my natural nails!!! The bridesmaids and I chose this spa due to the best reviews!! - I got the four layer facial from Grace. She was so friendly and attentive to my skin's needs and recommended a simple skin care regime! I loved talking with her, definitely a wise woman who cares for each customer - I received a pedicure with paraffin wax from Cassie who was super friendly as well. She painted my nails so well and my feet were ROUGH and are now so soft and supple. - My manicure was done by Alex who seriously was so patient with me. I was very indecisive about what I wanted for my nails but she recommended some polishes for what I wanted and definitely listened to everything I needed. The scrub and wax was sooooo nice on my super dry hands. Alex was definitely a perfectionist with my nails. I recommend this place to everyone!!!!!! All the staff took care of us so well and I have no regrets in choosing this place for our little staycation with the girls. UPDATE 3: REDO of nail was great! Not sure why My nail polish chipped. My original post stands. UPDATE2: REDO SCHEDULED 7 PM MAY 3RD. UPDATE: 4 NAILS ON RIGHT HAND HAVE CHIPPED. WAITING FOR CALL BACK TO HAVE THEM REDONE ! I'm getting ready for vacation, so I decided to treat myself to a mani & pedi. I called Onyx and was able to get an appointment with Alexandra for this evening. I don't think I have ever had a more patient and dedicated nail tec. I could tell she truly loves her job. She did not hurry even tho I was her last customer. I was there for 2 hours. This will be my go to place for nails. Next, I want to try one of the many massages they offer.
