We were sent to a room with my friend and I together. When it was time for our massage, my friend received a Swedish massage and my masseuse was standing on top of me. I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience here. I booked a 60-minute couples massage, and while my husband had a great experience with his masseuse, mine was the complete opposite. The person who worked on me didn't seem to know what she was doing at all. There was no real technique or flow, just random elbow pressure on my back the entire time. I even asked for more pressure, hoping it would improve, but she just kept using her elbows in a way that felt uncomfortable and unskilled. On top of that, she kept stopping throughout the session, which made the whole experience feel disjointed and unprofessional. What made it worse is that she didn't even massage my hands, arms, or feet, which I would expect from a full 60-minute massage. And to be clear, I didn't even get the full time. We started around 6:52 PM, and she left around 7:35-7:40 PM. That's not 60 minutes. Another thing that really bothered me was how the oil was removed. She used a dry tissue or paper towel to wipe my back, which felt rough and uncomfortable. Meanwhile, my husband's masseuse used a proper warm/wet towel on him. I don't understand why the service was so inconsistent between the two of us. I left feeling worse than when I came in. It looks like the business has changed ownership from Ocean's Spa to Lotus Spa recently. We first discovered this place because it was the only place that did the Ashiatsu massage (walking on back) and the former owner's therapists did this very well, and used the bars safely. Unfortunately, however, the new business owners have crossed the Ashiatsu massage from this price list, which is a big reason why we would come to this place to begin with. I highly recommend that they consider putting this service back on the services list (they still have the bars for the Ashiatsu massages but apparently just don't offer it anymore). Given that, my partner and I both got the deep tissue massage from a female and male therapist. It is pricier than before $60 instead of $50, but the massages were firm and there was adequate pressure. Both therapists were experienced and I think that the massage worked well. We always try to tip the workers a fair amount since massage work is not easy. However, the main issue about this place is that it is adjacent to the T4, which of course has a lot of blenders to make drinks and blend ice so it can be pretty loud in the rooms. The music covers a lot of it, though the sounds can take away from some of the relaxing atmosphere. Overall though, we might put this place in our rotation for massages, but given that the place no longer offers Ashiatsu, we might opt to go somewhere closer to home. I think the price differences between what you pay for using a credit card versus cash is also significant, and may deter others from coming if they don't have the cash because they'd rather not pay so much more for using a credit card for their transaction. Today after our 1 hour couples massage (50$ each massage) I really felt (compared to the other times I've been here) my massage with this masseuse wasn't up to par like normal. My fiancé was happy with his so we tipped his masseuse 10$. I always ask for Swedish and I just noticed lots of things were (sorry to say this) very half assed. I normally NEVER feel this way after my massage here, but today I felt more touched by an inexperienced masseuse than actually massaged. I still tipped, just only 5$ so 10%. As we were walking out the receptionist commented and said that we tipped one of them less than 20%. I explained and said yeah I tipped my fiancé's 10$ because he really enjoyed his and I didn't really enjoy mine. She says that it's custom to tip 20%. As a fellow business owner, tip is never guaranteed. I also am a service provider and this scene she created over 5$ less of a tip, was ridiculous to me. Especially if as a client/customer is vocalizing that it wasn't up to par like usual. It's easy to pass it by so make sure your paying attention. The woman who greets me is always so sweet even though I never made an appointment she finds a way to accommodate me. Both massages I got was a Swedish massage with the full body scrub and it was amazing! The masseuse really does and amazing job, I've had two different ones and they both were great. They Really listen if you want something done different. The vibe of the whole place is really clean and calm with nice dim lights and soft music, puts you in a relaxing mood. I've been to this establishment 2 times before. The 1st time, I got a mediocre massage, but not so terrible I couldn't give them the benefit of the doubt and try a different therapist. My 2nd time, I had a much better experience. This encouraged me to come back a 3rd time. As usual, I requested a deep tissue massage. The therapist I got this time clearly was not trained in deep tissue, which means the owner or management mistakenly thinks strong pressure equals deep tissue. As a professional massage therapist of 24 years, trained in Deep Tissue work, I can tell you with authority it is not. So either they're hoping clients don't know better or they're not making sure their therapists can competently provide deep tissue work. Either way, they're not selling as advertised. But worse than that, my therapist didn't feel motivated to do a good job. She slogged through an obviously cookie cutter routine, not paying attention to my body. And unlike her previous 2 colleagues, she didn't even try to communicate or solicit feedback to try to give a quality massage. Finally, when leaving, she was waiting by the front desk when the receptionist asked if I wanted to give her a tip. As a massage therapist who has worked at several establishments over the years, I immediately cringed at how awkward and inappropriate it was to make this request with the therapist present. I explained to them as much, adding that I've been a professional massage therapist over 24 years, then told the receptionist that what I received was not a deep tissue massage. She wouldn't even give me the courtesy and respect as a return client of looking me in the eyes as she looked down and muttered "OK" dismissively. No apologies. Not even a false display of humble contrition, much less an effort to make it right with an offer to give me a complimentary visit in the future with a promise to provide a qualified deep tissue massage therapist. I don't think she was the owner, as I had a more mature receptionist before who carried an air of skilled management. When we got there he could hear them preparing for us. 2. Rooms were clean and warm with in room heat control to suit your preference (also heated table). 3. Came here for the first time several months ago on a whim with my sister, we hadn't a massage other than those painful ones they offer at the county fairs...ouch. Have to say each time I come, I am more and more pleased! Tia is my GIRL! My first visit was with another woman, can't recall her name right now, but the last 3 visits have been with Tia and I will not stray. They've always been very flexible scheduling my sister and I in, we've called same day each time we've gone in and there was only one occasion when we could not be seen that same evening. We've only ever got the "couples room" because we go together. It's a large, dimly lit room with two beds. They give us some time to get undressed, and it's Swedish massage aka relaxation city from there on out. We pay for the hour massage, and for me, it's the perfect amount of time. The first half of the massage is over a bed sheet face down; second half is directly on skin using oils and for a brief part of the massage at the end, you are on your back.
