I visited this spa today and booked a couple's massage. My husband's therapist was okay, but mine was extremely unprofessional and distracting. Throughout the full two hours the woman kept looking at her phone and the massage itself was ineffective. She spent a lot of time working on only one hand and at times her nails were poking which was uncomfortable and repeatedly pulled me out of the experience. At one point, I even had to speak up and told her: Why don't you finish texting first, then resume my massage?" She responded that she was texting customers.This was the entire two hours. Honestly, it felt like a waste of money. I came for a relaxing massage and instead had to endure poor service while the therapist was constantly distracted. This should not be acceptable at any spa. If you want a real massage experience, I do NOT recommend this location. read more

I frequent New Moon Regularly. Over the years the ladies have changed so I'd like to update my previous years. There has been turnover over the years but all the ladies have been and still are skilled and professional. I will admit not all of them speak English well but I come from a family where English is not the native language of anyone except me so I'm very patient. If you can get around that, you'll have a great massage. For those that think $10 is a good tip, I suggest you stay home. Ivy, (the manager) keeps the place clean and has updated the signage. I was taken in by Lillian on Tuesday evening - from what I remember, their hours are now 10am-10pm. Requesting the 70 minute massage, I was directed to a back room for undressing. It was very quiet and relaxed, and was treated to what I can describe as a very thorough and encompassing full-body massage, with 30 minutes being a foot massage. Her techniques and attention to knots in muscles were awesome. I think I almost fell asleep, or was relaxed enough to do so. This will be my and my husband's go-to place for great and affordable massages. Jasmine was my therapist last month and Ilya this month. Both appear to have different styles, but are good at asking for feedback frequently e.g. pressure, etc. In addition to the wonderful massage experience, here's what I like: 1) There's plenty of parking 2) the establishment is clean and rooms are quiet 3) the ladies greet you warmly and are welcoming 4) no problems with communication and we converse well in English 5) they offer you water bottles at the end of the massage 6) they respond well to texts for appointments/rescheduling It's basic, but that's all we need. read more

I love new Moon spa. Ivy is a wonderful massage therapist. Very good at massaging very deep as I like it. Ivy listens to your concerns and massages where you want her to. New moon spa is clean and very accommodating for your time schedule. The prices are amazing and you can do 6075 or 90 minute massages for such a great deal. They also give you water at the end of your massage and you can pay using Venmo cash or credit card. I go to her may be more than once or twice in a month it's that great. read more

I have been to this business multiple times and never been disappointed. It was nothing like the review Eva T left. Based on my numerous interactions, my only comment is this woman must be a real Karen. Looking at other reviews she has left, it only confirms that label. The $3.00 credit card service charge is not only normal in this line of work, it tends toward the lower end of the charges expected at other massage businesses. The prices are also reasonable and in line with other businesses in the area. Located in an older section of town, the interior is clean, neat, and comfortable. Every person I have ever dealt with there (owner, receptionist, therapist), has been accommodating and pleasant to encounter. The massage therapists are skilled and attentive to the customers needs. I've numerous times hobbled in due to my back issues, and left feeling much better. They uniformly seek to provide a good experience and it is evident they care and are truly trying to provide a relaxing and therapeutic massage. I was skeptical about coming to New Moon Spa because the reviews were hit or miss and it wasn't clear to me if they were QQ Spa, which has horrible reviews, or actually New Moon Spa because it's marked as QQ on Google Maps. Turns out New Moon Spa is the current business that took over QQ w/ new ownership six years ago...they just haven't changed the answering machine and business name on Google, apparently. That said, I'm SO glad I took the risk and went. I flew my stupid ass off of an e-scooter last week, and my neck and back have been super stiff since, so I was desperate. I called at 8:30pm and asked for a 9pm couples appointment for my husband and I w/ two female therapists, and they booked us no problem. $85 total before tip. My husband had Emma, and I had Cindy. My husband said Emma was good, and I cannot rave enough about Cindy. I've had chronic back, neck, and arm pain for a couple decades now, and I've been to many massage therapists, both Chinese and Western. I'm always trying to look for the best quality for price point because it can be a bit much to pay the standard $150 + 20% tip for a licensed Western massage therapist, but the Chinese foot massages, although cheap, can sometimes be unsatisfying and not quite what I need. Cindy, at New Moon Spa, is like the best of both worlds. She provides the level of quality of a licensed Western massage therapist - intuitively finds all the spots that hurt, tailors the massage to what you want, and really works out the areas that need the most healing - yet at Chinese massage prices. I'm not trying to say that Western massage is necessarily superior, but lets be honest, Western massage therapists do tend toward the individualistic "tailor everything to exactly what the client wants" service, which I'll be honest, I really like because, well, I'm a privileged American, what can I say? Cindy worked really hard and gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. The only bad thing about discovering her is that I'm going to go broke coming in all the time. I recommend paying in cash because it's always better for small businesses so they don't have to eat the credit card fees, and I recommend a $10-30 tip because they truly work really hard, it's still way cheaper than a Western masseuse, and it's only because of our racist and classist system that these places charge so much less than American licensed therapists. Exactly what I expected from a foot massage type of place- clean, polite and perfect amount of pressure for an affordable price. We got the 60 min couple's massage. My fiance and I are so use to paying a lower price for this kind of massage in the southbay but in all of honesty, this is fair for 60 min of service. You go to those fancy aromatherapy and pay so much more. Don't come here thinking you'll get a medical problem fixed. Definitely had a good experience, better than anticipated! I came here on a whim because I reeeeally needed a massage and my regular therapist moved to Fremont with conflicting schedules. I called in on a Wednesday at 11:00 and asked to book with Emma, just based on a few of the yelp reviews. She was available and we got started right away. She explained that all of their therapists are very experienced, and that most do tend to start with harder pressure. Do let them know of any discomfort you have or any strength preference. This is not a gentle, rolling, relaxing, pampering swedish massage.... this is a fully efficient, precise, work out all the knots firmly with hard pressure type of massage. If swedish and spa like and pampering is what you are looking for, this will not be the place for you. If you are able to communicate directly, looking for a body worker that knows what they're doing, and prefer harder pressure, this would be a good choice. read more

New Moon Spa is a hidden gem; a happy getaway from my day-to-day grind. I came here for a relief after a 16 hour shift the night before and it was so wonderful. After my prepayment of the $30 Service I had chosen, I was placed in room right away. Although they didn't give me my change right away, my masseuse did give it to me before she started. I thought that was strange but, I didn't mind much because after a wonderful massage I just want to get up and go and not fumble around trying to pay. I loved my massage. My masseuse was so skilled in her work. Asking me if I'm okay or if the pressure she was applying wasn't hurting me. For the $30 Combo I had 30 minutes of body + 30 minutes feet. She focused on my shoulders and shoulder blades which I appreciated because that was the most tensed area. She did an AMAZING job on my feet. My job had me standing for 16 hours and 12 hours the night before. She really went into my feet working every pressure point. I felt like she gave me a new pair of feet haha. My (now) husband and I came here a couple of days before our wedding to relieve some stress and loosen up before the big day. I made an appointment a couple days before and were able to accommodate us. The prices were decent ($75 for couples massage/1 hr) and was fairly clean. We paid before we got into the room and then we just got ready and they started. The massage was really nice. The lady applied a good amount of pressure and always asked if I was okay. Even the massage table was heated! That was really nice and even more relaxing. Eventually, I fell asleep during the massage since it felt so good. Best part was the end with the hot stones. Only thing about this place is that the walls are thin and you can hear people coming in and out. Also, the masseuses were talking to each other throughout the massage, so it wasn't too quiet in the room. Overall, this place was definitely a great find especially hidden in San Leandro. After a run, I decided to show up to this place for a massage. I was greeted and asked to pay up front. The receptionist allowed me to freshen up and then guided me to a room. The masseuse had no idea what she was doing; just imagine having someone rub oil all over your body for an hour (I'm not complaining, however my knots were big). I asked the masseuses (throughout the massage) to spend time on my shoulder knots and calf, she decided to rub those areas extra hard. I ended the massage early. On my way out, the masseur demanded I pay a $15 minimum tip which I politely refused and explained how ineffective the massage was and therefore not worthy of a tip. She said ok. read more

My back felt very tense due to many hours of driving to Las Vegas. I needed a massage bad so I yelped this place and walked in on a Tuesday at 2:30PM and there was no wait. There was a lady sitting at the front and she spoke Mandarian and asked what kind of service I want. I said one hour and she was like that would be $40 and she wants me to pay first. Paid then she lead me to a room and told me to undress. 3 minutes later, a 40ish old lady came in and started the full body massage. Easy scheduling, simple but nice facility, parking lot. Pay before the massage (credit card ok). Bring cash for tip unless you want to blindly tip beforehand. Reasonable prices ($40/60 min body massage). I came in because of muscle tension that has been causing me pain. Unfortunately, my massage ended up being more stressful than relaxing. -My masseuse had zero intuition -didn't notice or adjust when I would flinch or tense up -didn't seem to be looking for knots, or know what to do when she came across one -motions were sometimes spazzy and thumb-stabby -too rough from the get go (I like deep tissue massage...IF there's finesse) -couldn't communicate things like 'less/more pressure or 'slow down' or 'that hurts' (she would get frustrated), except 5 minutes in when we paused the massage to have someone translate. -she wasn't very gracious when I thanked her, tipped her and left. (I still gave 15%) -didn't pay attention to modesty (keeping certain parts of me covered) especially when the door was open. I'm shy and I felt weird about that. There were some good portions, but I wasn't able to relax in her care. I usually leave a massage wanting more, but I didn't mind that she spent less than 60 min (it was 50-55 min). I would consider going back to try out another masseuse, because it seems like a good business overall, but might see about other places in SL before I do. read more
