Kyndra McCrary owes us over 1600 dollars for a deposit made for an event sceduled during covid lockdown. As a result of the lockdown the event (a wedding reception) was cancelled by law. Every other business involved in the event returned our deposit money immediately. The contract with Kyndra / ooh la la catering was unexecutable and the court has ruled twice that Kyndra McCrary owes the money. (Court ruled against her on our original case and on her subsequent appeal). We had asked for the return of our money months in advance of the date of service. She said she would return it and never did. We are retired. The loss of this money was painful. We have gone unpaid now for nearly two years. This has been a very unpleasant experience. She has her own ideas about fairness, skewed strongly in her behalf. Beware. read more

I can't recommend Chef Kyndra enough! We were looking for a safe catering option for our intimate wedding in the wake of COVID. Our planner found Chef Kyndra's services perfect for our small gathering, as she was able to prepare the food and deliver it to our venue, for serving by hired staff on our end. We expressed that we wanted chicken, a sweet potato dish (our fave!), and seasonal vegetables. When I tell y'all that this food was DELICIOUS... like... my mom doesn't even like sweet potatoes one bit... she ATE her mashed sweet potatoes so quick. The chicken was tender, everything was cooked perfectly. We had the arugula + watermelon + feta cheese salad... SO GOOD. All of it. We could not have asked for a better dinner on our big day. I put out a call to a few caterers for a last-minute party (4 days away) and Ooh La La Catering was only one of two who got back to me right away. Lynn Greenfield - the Executive Assistant - walked me through the entire process of figuring out the menu, pricing, logistics. She made it very easy. And on the day of ... Kyndra (the chef) and her assistant were on time (meaning, early), very professional, laid out the food fresh and very beautifully at my home. The first and ONLY choice for your catering needs! This is a long review, but only because I think it's important that you know exactly WHY Ooh La La Catering should be your ONLY choice! For our wedding, my fiancee and I have called and researched a number of catering companies in the L.A. area, but the first impression, their customer service, was rather cold and distant. I found this peculiar, because what business would want to portray themselves that way to attract new clients? A friend of ours knew of Ooh La La Catering from a baby shower he attended and would not stop about how great the food was. We were hesitant, but it behooved us to see what Ooh La La was all about. We initially met with the owner, Kyndra McCrary, over the phone and was immediately drawn not only to her professionalism, expertise and culinary knowledge, but also to her warm energy and genuine enthusiasm to work with our ideas. The dishes on her website were very elegant and formal and we were worried that our country/vintage style theme may actually be below her culinary stature. Not so! She suggested a southwestern bbq menu with some dishes that originated from longstanding family recipes that are not on the website's menu. Talk about impressive and we haven't even tasted the food, yet! When we finally did a tasting we were floored! The tender bbq fell off the bone and the sauce was the right balance of sweet, spicy and tangy! Her selection of appetizers was also very delicious and she was willing to work with us and make just minor adjustments to accomodate potentially finicky eaters at our wedding. Our wedding was a do-it-yourself, vintage, semi-formal, country style, backyard wedding in Pasadena. My wife and I started to plan the wedding ourselves and even dabbled in arts and crafts to create much of the decor. But here's one of the amazing things about Ooh La La Catering: when we were researching other vendors, Kyndra took it upon herself to be somewhat of our coordinator/go-between to make sure we got what we wanted for our special day. In most cases, we would simply ask her if we could do this or have that and she would take care of the rest. I can not stress this enough: Kyndra went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our requests were met. Her high level of service and dedication to our event was unsurpassed and a welcomed breath of fresh air in a city that seems to have lost its sense of customer service. The day of our wedding, I could not have been happier with Ooh La La Catering. We hosted a Christmas dinner party for my husbands staff last month. Kyndra was very helpful. We worked together on the menu and after a tasting we ended up serving goat cheese tarts, cucumber stuffed with smoked salmon, and bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese for the appetizers. Next, we chose a poached pear salad. For the entree we had braised short ribs or chicken buerre blanc with mashed potatoes and green beans and upside down bourbon apple pie for dessert. Kyndra and her staff catered our backyard wedding last month and everything was DELICIOUS! We had done a tasting with her months prior and knew she was our caterer. She offers amazing, fresh food for such a fair price. Kyndra also contracts with rental companies so my husband and I only had to deal with one invoice, which believe me, is a blessing once it's crunch time. Guests raved about our appetizers - bruschetta, jumbo fried shrimp, and spinach artichoke phyllo cups. The Chef herself, delivered our meal to us dressed in a crisp uniform, with a calm and courteous manner. I'm really remiss in writing this review. We've used Kendra for several events, from my husband's 50th birthday party, to an office holiday party for his employees which we threw at the house. She has always come through. She is dedicated and caring. She really wants the food to both look beautiful and taste amazing, and her flavor combos are always unique and delicious. I had raves on the food at both parties. I also appreciate all the choices she gives me, and the way she works with me to figure out the best combinations, while staying in my budget. The food she brings is always fresh and seasonal, and it's really a joy to talk to her about food.
