A look at the pastry case and some of the chips available for purchase
    Shushanik P.

After my doctor's appointment in Westwood, my son and I came to this quaint little cafe in Century City for some much needed lunch. Located just across the street from the Westfield mall, it's tucked away on a quiet, residential street with a lot of its clientele coming directly from the surrounding neighborhood. They serve sandwiches, salads, and breakfast-oriented egg dishes, but also have a cold case that includes items like meatloaf, salmon filets, chicken salad, etc..like an upgraded version of your local supermarket deli. They also have cute little candies, jams, honey, chocolates and shirts for sale, among other things. There's a freezer full of items like cookie dough and scones that you can take home to bake fresh in your own oven. If you would prefer to have a pastry here, they have their own pastry case full of goodies like cookies, rugelach, Apple turnovers, banana cakes, muffins, etc. We weren't really in the mood for sweets so we just got straight to the point with our sandwiches. My son got the Turkey Caliente sandwich which he loved and said was delicious, and I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (add avocado and roasted cherry tomatoes). We both thought the food was great and completely devoured every bite and licked the plates clean. We also shared a Caesar Salad between the both of us. Even their Tropical Iced Tea was delicious, along with the can of Passionfruit Agua Fresca my son chose from the cold case. The service is nothing special. No one was rude but they weren't really welcoming either. No one checked on us during the entire time we were there or cleared our table for the whole duration of our experience. The bathroom also needs more attention. The whole sink area was wet and I had to squeeze a bunch of times to get the last drop of soap out of the dispenser. There were also several scattered pieces of toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor. It was clear that no one had cleaned it for a while. I went to the bathroom again before leaving and it was still in the same condition. As far as parking goes, there are a couple of spaces behind the restaurant that are reserved for customers of Clementine and the pizzeria next door. Not sure if I will be back since it's so out of my way, but it was a good place to check out since we were nearby and starving!

    Bought before expiration date.

MOLD! Please be very careful.... double check their refrigerated food items. I purchased their Shepherds pie and had to return it the day after as it had MOLD on top of the mashed potatoes. Expiry date on bottom of container was days away. I was asked by Raul to return the product...Which I did immediately, then In front of Angel (on duty manager?), I went back to their refrigerator section to pick out another Shepherds Pie .... yet another had MOLD all over mashed potato! Manager merely said: "It must've just been a bad batch." I got the sense they really didn't care at all! This used to be my local breakfast/lunch spot.... They credited my credit card for the price of the Shepherds pie.

I love when we find cute + yummy places when we venture out and this place is definitely one of them! They have a great selection of pastries and a few breakfasty menu items; we shared the breakfast scramble and a blueberry muffin, and it was pretty darn good. Definitely love the ambience. We sat outside, which was perfect for the warm weather. We also had drip coffee and it was a pretty good cup. Bonus tip: there is parking behind the restaurant, which is amazing for this area, especially when parking is so impossible to find. Happy eating!

Specials of the day - the brisket melt was phenomenal

Was in the general area to take my grandma to lunch at one of her favorite casual spots in Westwood but failed to realize they were not open for lunch on Sundays! Quickly went on Yelp to find another option and Clementine looked like the perfect spot, though I was a little worried about finding parking and seating. My grandma had been to Clementine before to pick up baked goods years ago but had never dined in so she was excited to try somewhere new. There was some parking in the alley behind the restaurant and we were lucky enough to grab the last handicapped spot. However, it was a little difficult for her to navigate the alley to the front entrance with her walker due to the incline and poor condition of the pavement (lots of cracks/bumps). When we left, I was able to pull up to the side of the building and have her get in this way which was much easier for her. We were able to grab a two seat table inside and the employees were helpful when it came to helping us and finding a safe place for her walker. The menu had so many great choices but we both ended up getting the brisket melt special which was sooo goood! My grandma said it was one of the best sandwiches she ever had. She loved the combo of the gruyere and caramelized onions and the brisket was so juicy and tender you didnt even need the au jus it came with. I also got an arnold palmer which was made with their fresh brewed tropical iced tea and ginger limeade - so so good and not overly sweet, I hate when arnold palmers are really sweet. It was a bit pricey at $5 but that allowed for refills including a refill to go. They charge slightly less if you order a drink to go. I also got a blueberry sour cream muffin which I ate the next day for breakfast and loved it. They had so many goood looking things! I am not in the area often for brunch/lunch time but my grandma and I both agreed we would come back again.

    Classic Smoked Turkey Sandwich

We had a movie preview at AMC Century City and after looking online at the mall restaurants I remembered Clementine was nearby. Parking can be challenging but we found a space. The place has salads, sandwiches and soups with a lovely selection of baked goods. There is a large section of to go soups, quiche, pot pies, etc. Hubby ordered a bowl of tomato soup and I had the smoked turkey sandwich. The soup was in a LARGE bowl and it was so creamy, buttery and tasty that I got an order to go. Sandwich was big and I only ate half. Couldn't leave without taking some bakery items but it was near closing time and the selection was small. Bought the peanut butter cookies. They were delicious. Service was good and we weren't rushed to eat as it was close to closing time. Love this place.

we came in to get a quick sweet drink, and we were unfortunately met with rude service. i ordered a strawberry and oat smoothie, and was satisfied with my drink. however, we asked about one of the menu items and received a snarky remark, then one of the workers misled us about what was in the drink. overall the drinks were fine, but we were ultimately disappointed with the service

The whole time that we ate inside during our meal, I saw him greet every single customer who came in- even if he was busy, he acknowledged every one immediately and said he would be right with them. I saw him speed grabbing 3 online orders and put them together SO fast (one of them was mine) and it came out perfect with all my modifications correct. He was quick, accurate and attentive to customers. This was earlier today on 5/16 in the afternoon. Corporate needs to highlight this guy as employee of the month if they haven't already. Walked in on a Sunday around 11:30am, restaurant maybe a quarter full. Seated in a corner with incomplete silverware, no menus for several minutes, no water for even longer. Waited another 10-15 minutes with menus in hand before anyone came to take our order. The food wait aside, what really stood out was the lack of basic check-ins. No "sorry for the wait," no acknowledgment, and when I finally asked for the bill, the manager came over with the terminal, took payment, and walked off without much of a follow-up except to hand over boxes. Just a little warmth goes a long way! Food, when it arrived: * Landwer's Pancakes: the highlight. Three pancakes tall with seasonal fruit, whipped cream, Nutella, and maple syrup. Delicious and a generous portion. * Croissant Sandwich: disappointing. Tough, chewy croissant with thinner filling than the bread size warranted. Hard to get a clean bite. My friend and I made a reservation for outdoor dining for brunch. We arrive right around our reservation time to find nobody at the podium. After a few minutes, a woman comes up and asks, "For two?" before immediately turning around and walking the other way, to which point we stop her and say that we actually had a reservation which we gave her all the details for. She stopped for about half a second, grabbed menus, then turned around again and brought the menus to an indoor table, then just walked away without making eye contact. She did not even tell us to follow her nor say a single word to us once we were seated. No worries, right? Wrong. We perused the menus and waited for about ten minutes, with no staff members coming by to help us. We started looking around to try to flag someone down, but each staff member was either not looking in our direction and/or wearing a different outfit from the next staff member, with some outfits almost having a nightclub aesthetic than wait staff. Eventually, another individual comes by our table and, again, without greeting us or making any eye contact, aloofly says, "Just order off the QR code," which we didn't see because the menus were covering it. Now, my friend who I was with works in the mall, and I know the restaurant offers a discount for mall employees, so as the employee was walking away, I called out and asked if we would still get the discount if ordering off the QR code, and he said yes. Note that in all the times my friend and I have eaten here in the past, it was always traditional table service. Then, we go to place our order, and after adding everything to the basket, it tries to charge my credit card. At this point, almost 20 minutes had gone by since we arrived, with still no single greeting or water or silverware set or anything. I get up to speak to another waiter who was helping nearby tables, to which I am again told to just order off the QR code but was reassured that the mall discount would be applied once the tab was settled. So we oblige and place our order through the portal. Several minutes later, the same waiter who I had most recently spoken with had come to our table (mind you, this is the first time someone came to our table in the entire time we were seated) and said that the restaurant was out of some of the items on our menu. And it was at this point that we FINALLY got waters. At this point, we had to look through the menu again, but it was getting to the point where we were going to miss our movie, so we had to just abandon ship and eat at the mall food court. Upon leaving, the only acknowledgement we got was from the first woman who "brought" us to our table, which was a petty smile and wave. Allow me to make myself clear. I hold no animosity against any establishment for being short-staffed, for requiring QR code ordering, or for being out of ingredients. This stuff just happens. What I do have an issue with is the astounding lack of any grace or hospitality, without even a simple "Whenever you're ready go ahead and use the QR codes on the table" or even a welcome. It just felt as though every person was just trying to get by with doing the bare minimum, and every employee had attitude. Even the couple next to us, who had been seated before we arrived, never got acknowledged. It's honestly a shame, because many of the items here are great, and the offerings are unique, but if this is how Cafe Landwer chooses to operate and treat its customers, I won't be back.
