We used TGIS Catering for our wedding in San Clemente, and the food was the clear highlight. Our guests raved about the hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour (the lamb chops in particular were a big hit), and the tri-tip at the buffet dinner went over really well too, even with the critical aunties. We did a tasting beforehand, which was helpful since it gave us a chance to swap out a few dishes we weren't as excited about. They cooked onsite at our venue on the day of, and the food came out delicious. Some of our guests mentioned it was among the best wedding food they've ever had. There are just a few logistical areas for improvement: response times during the planning process could be slow at times, and we also occasionally had to catch a few missing details during our planning discussions (e.g., guest counts, high chairs, seating layout). On the day of, they forgot to serve the bride and groom food and water until they were reminded by our coordinator. George, the CEO, gave us a tour of the facility and the options TGIS can do for your event. They can do boxes meals to plated options. I also loved the grab and go option! This team is diverse in experience, culinary skills, inclusive of celebrating cultures though different dishes, and mindful of dietary restrictions. We also loved how they shared where their food comes from here in the state of CA. If you're looking for a catering company that can also support sustainability practices, TGIS is your team! So this review is from a former employee and a client (kind of). I use to work for TGIS when I was in college. They were always good to me, they were super flexible before being flexible was cool. I was paid well too. All of this was like 10 years ago. Anyway, I recommended them for my cousins wedding. The wedding was a bit far off so I wasn't sure if TGIS would even be able to cater the wedding. Luckily it wasn't an issue. The reception ran extremely late into the evening, we didn't have any issues what so ever. Of course I didn't recognize anyone there including the gal in charge. Used TGIS to cater our wedding on 6/18/21 and our rehearsal dinner at our wedding venue the night before. Experience from start to finish for over a year was excellent. Great communication from Jeremy Smith from the get go. He answered all of our questions and happily made multiple revisions to our original quote with no hesitation. The food and staff for both events was fantastic. Had many comments from our guests about the quality. We had steaks at the wedding and they were all perfectly cooked (very difficult to do at scale). We used TGIS to cater our wedding at MOLAA in Long Beach. They have a partnership with the venue, so we had to use TGIS. I'll just get right to the point and say that the food was delicious! We and our guests were so impressed. We chose the Mediterranean buffet and every dish was so tasty and flavorful. We chose chicken shawarma and stuffed eggplant as the mains, lemon potatoes and Israeli couscous as the sides, and a Greek salad. Every dish on the plate was fresh and tasty! We loved being able to have such a nice vegetable-forward buffet dinner. The eggplant dish is vegan and gluten free and was also somehow the *most* delicious thing! That was a great way to check our boxes for all of our folks with dietary restrictions. For drinks, we chose the 'mixer bar' option in which TGIS provided the mixers, ice, etc., and we provided the alcohol. It was a great option and saved us a lot of money compared to paying for the open bar through them. They had mixers ready to use with our 'signature cocktails' which were a paloma and a whiskey ginger. I peppered our coordinator, Drew, with so many questions throughout the whole process and he always had really clear, prompt, patient answers. I remember being nervous about our menu since I couldn't find a lot of reviews naming specific items (considering TGIS does a huge range of items), so I hope anyone thinking about their Mediterranean buffet menu will read this review! TGiS recently did our daughter's wedding reception at Giracci Vineyards and they were AMAZING! Guests were raving about the food and still are a week later. TGiS went above and beyond to make our daughter's reception truly spectacular and special. George and Staci helped every step of the way. They even coordinated with the rental company Signature on our behalf which helped alleviate much stress. We were wowed at the tasting with all the offerings which made it so hard to choose. Every single item was A+! Some standouts on the apps were the Thai noodle served in mini take out containers with the happy couples initials on it, tuna tacos, and some sort of buffalo chicken in home made mini waffles --WOW! For dinner we had braised short ribs (oh my gosh, melt in your month delicious), truly to die for spicy pasta, 2 types of salad, veggies and lemon potato wedges that held their flavor the entire way through (not just the outside). In lieu of a large wedding cake, TGiS suggested & served a butter crumb cake with home made caramel and ice cream -- OH MY GOD the guests were besides themselves! Their staff that evening were so professional and kind as well. The bartenders were all personable and great at making drinks. We had 2 signature drinks, one of which was a Cadillac Margarita. Literally people were saying it was the best they ever had. No surprise since TGiS hand made the mix themselves from high quality ingredients. I can't rave enough about TGiS. Hosting a wedding is stressful enough but I will say that from the moment I arrived at the venue, I was able to relax because I knew we were in good hands with George and his TGiS staff and I was able to enjoy myself. I hired TGIS catering for my wedding on 10.12.13 as they were a preferred caterer for my venue. All in all, I would hire them again as we were, for the most part, very pleased. Mark Rivera is the contact for weddings and he is prompt with communication and sent us the various food menus and pricing quickly. This is an extremely well-priced caterer for all things considered when it comes to weddings and the variety of food options is endless. They do a once a month tasting event for potential clients which my fiance and I did attend since food quality was right at the top of our list when it came to spending money on our wedding. We were very happy with the food we tried at the tasting so went ahead and decided to book with TGIS. They use a event production company (Signature Event Rentals, see my review of them separately) to bring in all the tables, linens, tableware, glassware, utensils, etc. so we had to have a meeting at the venue to go over everything a few months in advance (take note brides: another day off off work). My original quote for 75 adults and 15 kids (4 buffet-style stations and 3 passed apps) with all the linens, tableware, etc. included was $7500, exactly what I wanted to pay (~$100 pp). However, once the meeting with Signature happened, the price escalated to $12,000 because they now informed me that they have to build a kitchen on site and there are a bunch of other odds and ends that weren't in the original quote. Luckily, Mark was able to work with me and we got the final quote to be $9,000 (I had to give up a few things and TGIS lent Signature their stove ad made some other concessions) but that was so much added stress with the back and forth of red lining quotes that was SO not needed for this poor bride. I do have to say that TGIS more than made up for the price difference with how happy my guests were with the food and the added effort from their waitstaff to help my mom set up, break down, and clean up the reception area. They also let me bring in all my own alcohol and provider a bartender to serve it. This was a huge cost savings and the bartender was even so accommodating to make my signature drinks with the recipe I provided to him. Reviews on the food itself: We were SO happy that TGIS could accommodate our wishes which was to have food ready and available for people to grab and take so they could mingle and chat (both with the apps and with the buffet stations). We also wanted a lot of variety from different cultures and vegetation options as well which they delivered on. Passed appetizers - loved all 3 of these! I could have eaten them all night long!!! 1) SPOONS OF SOFT POLENTA topped with Maple Glazed Duck Finished with Caramelized Onion Confit And Chives 2) FRESH PEAR TOMATO BRUSCHETTA with Yellow and Golden Halves Tomatoes Over a Herbed Ricotta Served atop a Char grilled Ciabatta Finished with Balsamic Syrup 3) SPICY TUNA TARTARE served over a Crispy Wonton with Creamed Wasabi, Soy Sauce and Topped off with Black Sesames Buffet-Style Stations: 1) RISOTTO BAR MARTINI - Tossed With Choice of Parmesan or Gruyere, Sherried Mushrooms or Creamy Spinach, White Wine and Lemon Chicken or Garlic Marinated Shrimp, Finished With White Truffle Oil Accent. TGIS is by no means dirt cheap, or cheap for that matter, but they serve up beautiful, delicious, 5 star food. I just have mad love for this place -- in that the food is just really something special. When we attended our niece wedding at Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, I was thinking this is not a very traditional wedding. What I mean is usually, weddings are held in a church. But when we got to MOLAA and once the wedding began it was not bad to experience for the first time an out door wedding at a museum. We had some finger food which were not bad and drinks while we were waiting for the dinner reception. Again didn't know what to expect from a wedding dinner buffet at an out door reception. We have been to a few weddings which served typical American food, steak, mashed potatoes, salmon, salad, they were just ok, in fact some of them were a tad on a salty side. The menu was Butterleaf Salad, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Vegetable Cous Cous, Chicken Balsamico and Carved Tri Tip, we were the 6th or 7th table in line to get the food. While relatives and friends walked by with their plate of food, it looked like a traditional buffet plate, was I wrong. When it was our turn to get the food, I didn't get a lot because I didn't want to waste the food if they were not up to my expections. Once I sat down, I had the salad first, it was one of the best salads I ever had, the taste was just perfect. Next I tried the chicken, it blew me a way, I never had chicken with staffing in it, and the taste was just perfect again. Ok so two out of two so far, next I tried the mashed potatoes, again it was just right and not overly salty like from other places. Finally, I tried the trip tip, it was one of the best I ever had, cooked perfectly. Once I finished my first plate of food, I actually went back to get more salad, chicken and tri tip, they were that good. If they weren't I wouldn't have gone back for a second eventhough if I was still not full. I know some of you didn't have quite a good experience as I had, and I am sorry that happened, wish it was a different experience. Overall this was one of the best American food buffet I ever had. Would I recommend this to anyone, yes I would. For now it is a five stars rating unless I experience something less in the future. We had our wedding 9/22/18 at the Palos Verdes Art Center. Our contact person was Vanessa Pro, and she provided such helpful and accommodating service. Everyone raved about the food! Many guests approached us during the wedding to tell us how bland wedding food typically is, and how our wedding food was some of the best they had ever had! For two foodies like my (now) husband and I, this was exactly the feedback we were wanting to hear from guests after carefully planning out our menu :) For apps we had the black bean empanadas, mini lobster rolls (guest favorite!) and spicy wonton cups. The double entree was buffet style with balsamico chicken and ale and maple braised ribs- both were phenomenal! Sides were leek poached potatoes, baby carrots, wild mixed field greens. We had a number of vegetarian/vegan guests and they also talked about how great their entree was. We used their wedding cake vendor 'Sweet Traders' and were pleased with their service as well and the cake was beautiful. read more

After dealing with snooty mc-caterpants and snobby cateringson I was a bit unsure about meeting TGIS. What? No superflous schmancy showroom? No 15-course complimentary tasting? Nope. But you can definitely do a tasting, and who needs a showroom. Pfft. It's for just that: show. I've worked with TGIS on a ton of events in the past, and of course, on my own wedding last year...and they rocked it. They're run by a brother/sister team, and have about three sales-people handling the catering world. Monica helped me with my wedding and I couldn't have asked for better. So when you go to your fancypants caterer and they tell you mashed potato martinis, calvin klein glassware, shiny pintuck linens, and waiters all wearing hot pants...just keep in mind TGIS can do every single one of those things (probably even the waiters in hot pants, if that's what you really really really want) just as well...but they won't make it seem like a requirement, and, hell, they may even try to find a way to help you save a buck or two. Oh..and the food. I almost forgot. After working in events and dealing with a bajillion catering details, I almost forget that they serve food too. Well, turns out they do serve food. Fact: I had a house warming party (a few years ago) and 65+ people were on the guest list. Problem: Do I tackle the daunting task of cooking all the food myself WHILE trying to host the party too? Oh HELL no! Solution: Have the party catered. Enter TGIS (Thanks Goodness its Sophia) catering. I called and scheduled the initial meeting. Sofia herself came to my house for the consult. She explained a bit about her services and we started discussing menu and service options..... and there are SO many options to choose from! We decided to have 4 different food stations with a server at each station. Our choices were: A Hand Carved Beef (dip sandwich) station, a made to order Stir-Fry station with a choice of chicken or shrimp, a Mashed Potato Martini station and a Dessert Crepe station with a choice of 8 different toppings. Everything was just delicious! Personally I loved the mashed potato martinis, such a cool and FUN idea! You may already know, but it is mashed potatoes served in a martini glass with a buffet of different toppings to add. Chili, cheese, chives, bacon, mushrooms, sour cream etc. etc. It was a huge hit! They brought all the equipment, tablecloths and a few decorative items to spruce up the yard too! The staff was very professional, very friendly and after a few hours one of the team approached me and asked if I'd had anything to eat yet... I had not! She then fixed me a plate and brought it to me, totally awesome! I took a few bites, set it down and I was off being a host again! LOL OVERALL: This was my only experience hiring a caterer and it wasn't cheap, but with the quality of the food and professionalism of the staff and the service they provided, everyone had a really great time and that's what matters. I have to say... Jeremy Smith... you are AWESOME! I had my wedding at the Betty Reckas Cultural Center (Greek Church) and TGIS catering catered the wedding. So first, I started by contacting Jeremy. He responded back quickly and gave me the run down on the packages and gave me a tour of the venue. I LOVED the venue and with the prices on the packages... I LOVED it even more. When I purchased my packages, it was in 2011. I planned my wedding WAY in advanced and got 2011 prices - but Jeremy told me they really don't change their prices at all. WHAT?!?! Other places increase their prices by $1000 A YEAR. Yes. This is true... why do you think I started in 2011... So that was a plus! They have many packages that were great! I was really shocked by the prices they offered and this wedding was totally in my budget! The packages included: * table cloths * champagne/cider * tray passed or displayed hors d'oeuvres * WEDDING CAKE - WHAAAAAA... They provide the wedding cake!!! Whaaaaaa * Napkin color * Kitchen and Service staff * Cake cutting and serving * Dance floor * China and glassware * SECURITY!!! * Clean up and set up! * Parking Whaaaaaaa?!?! NOT EXTRA?!?! Nope. All INCLUDED. So I pretty much signed up for their services and it was a done deal for me. PAYMENT: $1000 deposit Half the amount a month before the wedding Rest of the amount a week before the wedding FOOD: American Food I went to their food tasting which they arrange at their catering site. They set up the plates the way they normally do for weddings and passed out different types of hors d'oeuvres. Delicious. We didn't get to try the fish during the tasting - which I wanted to try because I don't eat beef and I wanted a fish option. My hubby choose the beef dish. We ended up with Short Ribs and Red snapper fish. I was very pleased with my red snapper even tho I did not get to eat much of it cuz the bride and groom NEVER eat on their wedding. The salad was a butterlettuce salad and it was DELICIOUS. Jeremy recommended it and it was AWESOME. The hors d'oeuves I picked were: Lobster shooters - OMG, YES. duck confit - yes! chicken basket - yes! AND Jeremy arranged the staff to bring us the food while we were doing our photoshoot so we could eat! I was SO happy. EXTRAS: I am Thai. I wanted to have a bit of my culture at the wedding. So we asked Jeremy if we could bring in a table full of Thai appetizers. He was fine with it as long as we didn't have his guys serve it and that was awesome! I was SO happy with it because I got to show my people's food. I had a Flash Mob during my wedding ceremony. Jeremy was totally cool with it as long as they didn't stay for the cocktail and reception. Awesome! BARTENDERS: I ordered open bar... I mean come on. Open bar makes EVERYONE happy (except if you're Mormon... respect.). The bartenders were SO awesome and SO accommodating. I know my friends and family are a bunch of drinkers and they really made use of my open bar. Awesome. I even made a signature drink named after my bunny Kirby! Nice! ADDITIONAL HOURS: No matter what, the venue won't let you stay there til Midnight. So 11pm which was fine. I loved the fact that I could buy extra time BEFOREHAND to have more time for the reception and for only $400 for two extra hours! :D That's a steal if you guys don't know Wedding Lingo. LIGHTING: They provide lighting for a great fee. Their prices were really competitive. CHAIRS: Chivari!!! Jeremy will explain and help you with this part. He saved me a lot by using the chivari chairs during the ceremony and then the reception! COORDINATOR: Jeremy is not a DAY OF coordinator. He works with your coordinator (who you need to hire independently) to make sure everything goes smoothly. He works with your coordinator and the banquet manager until the dancing begins. AREN'T WE IN A RECESSION??????? I am getting married and WILL NOT be hiring this company. TGIS = decent food, terrible service. I really wanted to have my reception at MOLAA, which is contracts TGIS to cater all events ( which is the ONLY reason I would have hired this company). However, upon meeting with them they were unwilling to negotiate someting that fir into my budget and I was made to feel as though my business was unappreciated. Again, AREN'T WE IN A RECESSION????? No problem, I am taking my money somewhere else. Long story short, I was treated as if my business didn't even matter to them. They ran off a lengthy list of celebrities and corporations that they cater for and made me feel as though my tiny wedding wasn't too important to them. They are SUPER EXPENSIVE. If you are getting married you know that it will cost but seriously these guys are like triple the cost of some other catering companys. My advice= shop around , these guys aren't the only catering compnay out there. read more

Talk about some amazingly good pulled pork sliders. Had a taste of them at the dia de los muertos festivities and my goodness, they are out of sight! I overheard that they can cater parties in the hundreds or.. just with two people. Maybe I'll have to look into that when I'm feeling a little lazy in the kitchen. They were so good I went back for seconds on the sandwich. It was seriously really good. Their chowder was also out of sight and hits the spot perfect for when you're feeling cold and need to warm up. Talking to them for a bit, they seemed like great guys and were pretty funny. The 2 stars is for the billing. We used them for 2 events on one weekend. Working with Mark was great. He is very helpful and worked with us on menus, setup etc. The servers and food were great. We received the bill and for our in-laws portion, they were billed for a Captain and 2 servers. There were only 2 people there working. We waited a week to call to see if the bill would be updated. No update so we call. They said they would have caught it. We assumed otherwise. They acknowledged the mistake but then recalculated the bill and said they were there an extra half hour. We never asked them to stay over and the party was done on time. If you use them scrutinize your bill. read more

T.G.I.S catered and managed my wedding at the Betty Reckas Cultural Center two months ago. We worked with Jeremy from the very beginning and he was absolutely amazing! I was a very organized and detail oriented bride and Jeremy had immediate, helpful answers to every question I had (and there were a ton of questions!). When we went to the tasting at the T.G.I.S. offices, we were blown away by how delicious everything was. We decided to go with the Ale & Maple Glazed Short Ribs and the Eggplant Napoleon for our wedding entrée. We also had an amazing salad with Champagne Vinaigrette and three delicious hor D'oeuvers that were passed throughout the cocktail hour. I don't usually like short ribs, but after the tasting night, I couldn't stop thinking about those ribs for months! Of course, we bragged to all of our guests how amazing the food would be, and T.G.I.S did not disappoint. Our guests were telling us all night that it was the most delicious and beautifully presented meal they have ever had. The night of the wedding went seamlessly from our point of view. If there were any issues that did arise, the banquet team handled it perfectly. We had a few guests that changed their mind about food the night of, but the banquet team and chef made sure everyone was happy. Loren led the banquet team and kept everything moving smoothly throughout the day. We would have been lost without him! He even brought me water and champagne later in the night because he had noticed that I hadn't had anything to drink (too much dancing!). T.G.I.S. also provided 2 bartenders for our open bar and we heard they were amazing. Some of our guests didn't even have to order---as soon as the bartender saw them, he remembered their drink and had it ready. The bartendars were obviously really experienced and the drinks were great! Our friends are actually really picky about drinks and bartendars, but they were all very impressed with the mixing and the service. Everyone at the wedding assumes we spent a fortune for the venue and catering, but we were actually able to work out a reasonable budget with T.G.I.S. Our total included all the food, the venue rental, all the reception tables, chairs, uplighting, dinnerware, linens, 2 bartenders, security guards, and the wedding cake--for less than what I've seen many of my friends spend on the venue rental alone. One of the biggest money savers for us was that they allowed us to bring our own alcohol. We did have to pay a per-guest fee to be able to do that, but they provided all the mixers, coffee, tea, and soda. Even with the per-guest fee, we saved a few thousand dollars on our alcohol bill. They still have an option for them to provide all the alcohol though, if you'd prefer they handle it. One other small thing that I loved was that when we went to our final planning meeting, they had reserved a parking spot for us with a sign that had our names on it. It was the small things like that which made it so easy and comfortable to work with T.G.I.S. They make you feel like your event is their top priority. I would definitely recommend T.G.I.S. for catering services. We are still getting calls 2 months later from guests who thought it was the best wedding ever, and we couldn't have done it all without T.G.I.S. with their amazing food and staff. I had my wedding ceremony and reception at the Centre at Sycamore Plaza in Lakewood, catered by TGIS Catering services and i can say confidently that i would highly recommend them! For the entire year i was planning for my wedding, we worked with Azalea Perez, the event manager. Her advice, referrals and overall help has made the entire process much easier. She was very kind and kept in touch with me, answering all my questions and even referred us to couple vendors for the wedding. She was available and flexible with her time whenever we felt we needed to come in, whether to take a look at the venue space to take measurements or to sit down with her to go over details. I felt like we were taken care of, i highly recommend anyone to check out The Centre, it is a great venue and Azalea would be more than happy to help you coordinate your next event! We had both our ceremony and reception in the Weingart Ballroom upstairs and everything turned out great! Guests were raving about how delicious the food was! We served our guests a duo entree with both chicken medallions and filet mignon steak, mashed potatoes, asparagus and carrots. It was so tasty! The service was professional, kind and quick. We were shopping for a caterer and came upon TGIS because they contract with many wedding venues in the Orange County area including Norris Pavilion, Latin Art Museum and the Betty Ruckas Cultural Center. Each venue has their own TGIS contact person and some are more hands on whereas some are more hands off, just depends on the venue. We have spoken with Adrienne who was an absolute pleasure to work with, as well as Jeremy Smith who was a little less "friendly" in our interaction, but still courteous and professional. We attended a TGIS Catering Tasting a few months ago. I was very impressed with the professional standard that was upheld through the tasting. We were greeted, food was brought out by servers, and everything was nicely presented. One of the owners of TGIS came out to speak to their ingredients and process for catering an event which I also very much appreciated. Unfortunately, although the food was presented nicely, I just wasn't impressed with the taste and decided to go with another caterer. It was kind of bland and mediocre. we have had multiple catering events where TGIS was the catering services and all the guests and myself included were very happy! i truly have to acknowledge Miguel who was taking care of us at our most recent event in Irvine. this man is VERY knowledgeable about the food, is extremely friendly, and professional. it was a pleasure talking to him and i was blown away by all the DELICIOUS food that was served. they aided in helping set up and clean up the event food and beverages. highly impressed and would recommend to anyone looking to have great food and a highly professional team working your event. again, the food it amazing... especially their crab cakes and spanakopita!! read more

The staff who worked the party were great but the coordinators were absolutely horrible. They always seemed to be in a bad mood when we met in person and the pricing was unbelievably expensive, definitely way out of our range. Technically we shouldn't have needed to use them at all as it was not in the contract we signed with the venue used (MOLAA) and we were told we could use our own catering and bar service by MOLAA themselves. We also had already paid non-refundable deposits for the services. Even after all this, we were still forced to use them. They quoted us almost $10,000 just for appetizers alone, which we never wanted or planned to have as a part of our celebration. We eventually were able to settle on just having them handle the beverages, but here's the kicker- we already had all the alcohol that was to be used, they would just be providing the juice mixers, ice and 2 bartenders which came out to almost $4000. For juice! What a joke! And the cherry on top was all of this happened literally within a month of the wedding, even though this was originally contracted more than a year ahead of time- as if there wasn't enough to worry about without having to deal with this on top of everything else. It's a shame really because based on other reviews, they seem to have great food and service, but whatever deal they have with MOLAA got messed up when MOLAA told us we could use our own vendors and it felt like they took it out on us. Based on our experience, I would personally not recommend them due to their extremely high pricing and bad attitude/work ethic. read more
