Having a hankering for calamari and seeing that OPA offered it, I took my chances and ordered a cheeseburger and calamari. Weird combo...but I'm overly picky. This is easily one of the best in town! I love the Kopanisti chicken in a gyro or salad. When they are serving the half chicken, it's delicious with lemon potatoes. Mushroom soup is so good and can't go wrong with any of the dips. They frequently have specials so you are always able to try something new. None of the food is bad! They have a good variety of beers and make a good dirty martini as well. Service is always great so you won't be disappointed here. read more

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. The food tasted cheap, the waitress was so incredibly racist and there was one other lady standing there glaring at everything, especially my table throughout the whole meal. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and it was not good AT ALL. I have eaten a lot of frozen dinners and my meal tasted worse than the $1 microwaveable frozen dinners I used to eat. I can't believe I paid $13 for that. The racist waiter and awful atmosphere was just the cherry on top to an already highly unpleasant outing. If you are a person of color or you like good tasting food in general, avoid this restaurant at all costs. Never going here again. read more

Our first visit here and I can't say enough about the impressive bar selection, the service, and the food. The owner took the time to talk with about bourbons and whiskeys and visited our table twice. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful, but it wasn't just our waitress. I noticed all the servers taking the time to talk to the guests. The spicy chicken gyro was to die for and the fries, crispy and delicious. Opa's is one of our favorite restaurants in Delaware. There is always a friendly and warm welcome from the staff and the owner when we go {which is often} and the food is done very well. We love the Greek dressing {which is on multiple things, not just salad}, the gyros, and the Kopanisti feta dip, above all. We visited on a Thursday evening and, to be honest, our dining experience at Opa was a bit awkward. Upon entering, we were told to seat ourselves anywhere we like. Which reminds me, they really should purchase a sigh or assign a host rather than continually yell. There were only a couple seats open, which seemed like a good sign. We wound up at a seriously wobbly table. While that alone is not a big deal, a wobble does lead one to look around and realize, "hmm the decor and a welcomin, positive atmosphere is kinda lacking." It was also difficult to hold a conversation with two televisions showing a history program about Nazis over top the music. Our server was not outright right rude, but there was no interaction that could have been considered friendly...and we tried. It seems they were caught short staffed. Moving on to food, my Pita Gyro was okay. But the gyro meat did not taste as if they cook it in house which kinda defeats the purpose of going to a restaurant, no? The pita, however, was good as was the overall portion size. The Calamari Platter--salad, choice of fries, pita, rice and calamari, was also just okay. But once again the purported star of the meal, the calamari, was not so good; tasting rubbery and lacking flavor. Maybe we would return, but it is unfortunately going to be awhile. read more

I overlooked this wonderful restaurant for some time, before finally trying it this past year. They feature a delightful menu, and I must say that I've really liked everything that I've tried. I always struggle when ordering, as I want to try more items, but absolutely love the gyros (simply the best), which win out about three-quarters of the time. The staff is great; I've not had a problem yet, and the owner is the nicest guy that you will ever meet. Also be sure to explore the bar, as the selection is amazing. I lived in Delaware for 4 years and never ate here ... I definitely regret that now ... Opa is a solid place with with good food and friendly service ... The fried calamari rings for the appetizer were very good ... I highly recommend the kopanisti gyro its so good, ask for it with garlic sauce on the side ... Went here with about a dozen ladies from our golf league. Absolutely no problem with the food. They were accomodating to make my lunch more of a scampi versus al fredo. Good prices on cocktails. Waitress remembered all 12 of our orders down to the detail without writing it down. Impressive. Service was very good. For some reason it took a while to get my cocktail. Everything else was good. Recently remodeled. Amazing bar! Food was absolutely delicious Owner walked around talking and joking with customers. It made for a really fun atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit. Tons of beers on tap. Biggest selection of bourbon I've ever seen. Our waitress Timon was great. Funny, happy and super knowledgeable about the menu and the beers. I bought takeout for my girlfriend and I. The service was inattentive and the food was not good. Maybe I just hit them on a bad day though. Specifically, the lamb gyro didn't have much flavor -- like it was possibly frozen or microwaved. The fresh cut fries were soggy, like maybe the oil wasn't hot enough, or they were frozen. The greens were nice and the green peppers fresh, but the dressing wasn't that great. Her meal was similar. FWIW I didn't feel great after the meal, but didn't get sick. They have a lot of potential and the atmosphere is nice though. Hopefully it was a one-time thing and that if we try another meal it'll be better. read more

This is a great Greek place in town. The specials are always delicious and we have never had any problems with the waitstaff. In fact they usually anticipate our want for extra pita to go with the tzatziki sauce instead of us having to ask later. Finally Opa's has the best fries in town easy. I went here for lunch recently with my daughter, husband, and my friend. At first we were excited, but then our server kept forgetting things. We ordered mussels, she forgot to put them in. We asked for a different salad dressing, they literally gave us olive oil with a pinch of salt in it. We asked for to go boxes, they never came. On top of that we all (minus my daughter who thankfully only ate fries) got sick a couple hours later. Never again. I hate to do this but I have to give it 3 stars. This was my first time here, but my many at various Greek restaurants. I had the chicken lemon rice soup and a regular gyro. The soup was surprisingly unfamiliar looking to me the minute it was served. (I order this any chance I can) it literally looked like a white rice pudding. I tried it and it tasted exactly as it looked. Like wet rice. No flavor at ALL. The gyro was sadly just as bad. Meat had absolutely no flavor at all. I'm not sure if it's some kind of Greek tradition that I've not experienced before, but I am sure that it was not good. My boyfriend tried it and agreed. The service however was awesome! Both items were removed and we were served a free baklava which was great. I'm hoping it was just a glitch in my taste buds, but both items lacked seasoning that made them virtually inedible. I ended up finishing my boyfriends chicken Philly gyro and fries which were both delicious. read more

I get a veggie gyro which is fine (but you can't mess up vegetables on pita). My boyfriend doesn't like their gyro meat, and I've tried their tzatziki a couple times and it really just tastes like sour cream. Fries are greasy. My family (7 adults and 1 toddler) went for dinner on a Saturday at 6pm. I called ahead to make sure they had room for a party that size (they did) and when we showed up, they had our table and high-chair ready. Super friendly on the phone and all the staff was incredible. We were able to sample anything from the bar before ordering. The owner was talking about ciders with my brother and was sorry that he was currently out of his favorite-- but he walked down the road to where he knew they sold it by the bottle, and brought one back! Our booth only had 2 place settings. There were 4 of us. I had to ask for two more place settings. Our appetizer came with pita bread.
