It seems that whenever I end up in Prince Rupert I always go to Opa Sushi. Over the years one thing has remained the same. Which is the quality of food they serve. This not the cheapest Japanese food I have ever had, but definitely worth it. I was there just a couple weeks ago on a sunny day (which does occur every once in a while in Rupert) and sat outside on the back deck looking up at a lush green coastal rain forest. We have made the trip from Kitimat to PR (over 200 km) on more than one occasion just because we enjoy eating here so much. We also try to make a point to eat here every time we visit. It is expensive, but worth it. They come up with some crazy rolls with ingredients that blow my mind! We always get sashimi as well, it's always fresh and delicious. I also love the rustic interior. Definitely make a reservation -- it's a VERY small space. Luckily, they have always been able to accommodate us. On one occasion, they accidentally made me a double cocktail, then told me after I drank it -- then charged us for the extra alcohol that we didn't ask for. That would normally make me withhold a star or two. But that was several years ago, it hasn't happened again and the staff is different now -- their service has actually become amazing since then. read more

This is my go-to place to eat when I am visiting Prince Rupert. I love the atmosphere in the net loft, the quality of the sushi and creative rolls, the presentation (especially the sunomono salad), and the excellent service. All factors considered, this is among the best sushi restaurants I have eaten at anywhere (even Vancouver). I highly recommend Opa sushi and always look forward to my next visit! read more

This is a really charming place. The sushi is pretty standard but I may be expecting too much coming form a great sushi city like Vancouver. The rolls seemed to be made a bit too fast and fell apart easily. Pretty good all and all... but not even close to the best I've had. read more

Although the decor is nice and the waitress was also, everything else about our experience was not. The food took forever--and even after explaining about our very serious gluten and shellfish allergies (drop dead kind of shellfish allergy)--two of our dishes came back with both gluten and large pieces of shellfish. A dangerous mistake to make. Not only that, but when you pay close to $8 for a speciality salmon roll, you expect there to be more than a very thinly sliced piece of salmon. The prices do not match the value of the sushi you are getting. You can easily spend $20 for two very small rolls of mediocre sushi, which is exactly what ended up happening. Also, they charge you $2 each for tea. Yes, tea. First time I have ever been charged for tea at a sushi restaurant. We also asked for our bill to be split up, but it was not (yet another mistake made by the staff). By this time we just wanted to leave, so we didn't bother asking her to redo the bills and one person ended up paying for the whole, very expensive meal. For us, it was a truly disappointing lunch that almost sent us to the hospital. Opa Restaurant owners, some advice: if you want to position yourselves as a classy establishment with high prices, then learn the standards. Then meet them. read more

Very fresh, very good. Next time I'm having the sashimi next time based on the freshness if the fish. No need with rice and fillers with the melt in your mouth protein. We did try some if their signature rolls. All were very good. read more
