Ghosted me for not one but TWO events they reached out to me for and said I would be perfect. First was their recent Charlotte Bachelor series - I applied online and then they emailed me saying I was chosen and to reply if I was still interested. I replied and was super excited... then they ghosted me and never gave me a date. Then I applied for Charlotte Idol - my friend did it last season and all my friends were telling me to do it because I also sing. I've been paid for college shows and done plenty of performances - so not to toot my own horn but I know I can sing. They emailed me AGAIN for this event saying I was perfect and to send a photo and snippet of me singing and then they would email me next steps aka what date I would be. You guessed it I sent my photo and video and then crickets... ghosted AGAIN. This time I said enough and I replied to them via email after a few days and again NOTHING. Super humiliating and unprofessional to continually reach out to someone, get them excited, I told ALL OF MY FRIENDS, and then you don't give me dates. It's embarrassing I hate to admit but I want other people to know what I've experienced so the same disappointment doesn't happen to them. This was my worst experience at an establishment in my 5 years of living in Charlotte. I called ahead and explicitly clarified that my dog was registered as an emotional support animal. I was told that was fine. At the door, a second employee checked his ID and also said we were okay to go in. We sat outside on the cement patio, 20 feet from other guests, just to be extra respectful. My 25 lb hypoallergenic dog sat quietly at my feet. It was a hot weeknight, and most guests were inside, so the patio wasn't crowded. The manager, Cole, came out to say only service animals are allowed, and asked me to leave. No warning. No chance to finish my drink. I was kicked out in front of colleagues after being told twice that it was allowed. I mentioned I had called ahead and asked who I'd spoken to. The staff member next to the manager admitted it was him. To be clear: I don't have an issue with the policy. The issue is that it was miscommunicated twice by their own staff. I had taken only a few sips of my drink before being asked to leave. The manager comped it, but that doesn't undo how humiliating and poorly handled the situation was. There was no compromise offered. Even when we offered to move my dog to the public sidewalk, Cole said no. This was a complete failure in communication and basic decency. read more

I was provided no service, the cups looked dirty, and the bracelets they provided were extremely dingy. Finally made it by OpenTap and it did not disappoint! South Charlotte has needed a family friendly spot like this for way too long. The whole place is a dream! The interior is so well designed and very modern - the indoor and outdoor furniture is all very comfortable. Such a great beer/wine selection as well as non-alcoholic options all on tap. The back area is fenced and has turf so it is awesome for kids. There is a self pour water machine with cups and lids too. There is a family bathroom with an adult and kids potty which was a huge hit with my 4 year old! They have a permanent food truck covered port which is an awesome touch - 5th Sin food truck was there yesterday and was phenomenal. They are putting the finishing touches on their shade garden which features more seating and a putting green. All around must visit spot for anyone - especially families! read more

I really enjoyed OpenTap at one time. I've been frequenting it since they opened. Great selection of wine, beer, mixed drinks and non-alcoholic. Food truck is always on point. However, last night we went around 6:15pm. They had live music. It was excessively loud inside and packed, the space isn't large. We knew aparty was also going on on the back patio and side room. So we went to the side area outside where it was sunnier, few people as it was hot. Saw a sign that said reserved for 4:30 party. It's 6:30 so we sat down just the 3 of us and were enjoying a nice drink and talking. Someone who worked there after about 10 minutes asked if we were a part of the party and if not we needed to move because they had reserved both areas and it needed to be open should they choose to come there. It was empty on this side. Mind you it was packed everywhere and you couldn't talk inside it's too loud. She said they had reserved it from 4:30-8:30. Needless to say we finished our drink as we walked inside and left after less than 20 minutes. We really were enjoying our time and planned on more drinks. We won't be back. Obviously their $200 for 4 hour reservation is more important than customer service and satisfaction. It's Friday, you should be able to have space and not allow reservations for 4 hours especially if it's not being used! Do better! read more

Pros: Nice enough atmosphere, nice enough patio areas, good for bringing kids to with some toys they can play with, a good food truck is always there. Cons: 1. The biggest beef I have is that you serve yourself the entire time, clear your own glasses, and then as you leave they ask you for a "20%/25%/15%" tip on a bin that you have to return your wristband in. I'm not against tipping by any means, but I'm not tipping what I tip a full-service waiter/waitress for an hour-long meal to someone who merely swipes my credit card and occasionally walks a cart of glasses to the kitchen. To me, that's not something you should tip for. That's something the owners should pay their workers for, but instead put the pressure on the patrons to subsidize their employees' paychecks for serving themselves. 2. The wine is extremely expensive ($2.39-$2.70 per oz) which for a 6oz pour is about $15 for mediocre glass of wine at best. 3. Sit on the astroturf patio for a few minutes and you're bound to smell a funk in the astroturf that is hard to describe. I've smelled it every time I'm there and it's like a pile of sweaty gym shorts rotting in an old locker. They try to deodorize the smell, but it's still there, which makes it even worse. All in all, we go there occasionally because it's 3 min from our house, and a decent spot for us to bring our kid and have a couple drinks on a patio, but we always end up paying way more than the experience is worth. read more

OpenTap did not disappoint! This is a great place to spend an evening with friends and family. They have great seating options--sometimes the upstairs can be full for private parties. Outdoor seating is nice--I do wish they had more tables. Many people start by sitting at the bar chairs outside before claiming a table others are leaving from. They have a variety of food trucks that come by which makes for a unique experience each time. They had a great variety of beer, wine, sodas, juice, and kombucha. It's easy to wash your glassware before refilling and to try out a drink before you pour a whole glass. You can cap out your ounce-age allowance and have to go to the front to renew it to get more. Once done, you can drop your bracelet (connected to your card) in a tip box and leave. I don't love this, as I don't feel the need to tip 15% when I poured all my own drinks (and not as well as an actual bartender would have) and had little interaction with staff. If you go to the front desk they will print you a receipt and you can tip that way. On all the drinks it tells you the price/oz and alcohol content along with a short description. My party sat outside in June and it was comfortable, but could do with some overhead fans just for some air circulation. Parking was great, it can fill up--but this place is just that popular. Dogs are not allowed inside nor are they allowed anywhere on the property outside other than the parking lot we only found this out after driving all the way there and attempting to bring a dog. We had such an amazing time! The decor is cute and it's very modern! First you come in, your ID is scanned and you're given a wrist band to be able to scan to pour your beer. The drinks are paid per ounce. They also have non alcoholic beverages and wines on tap. There were glass r r inserts so that you can change your beers very quickly if you wanted to taste another. Very reasonably priced and there's a food truck there every day so you can eat and drink. It's a family friendly atmosphere. We decided not to bring our children this time even though we will be back with them! We also purchased a 32oz growler to go. If you decide to come back and fill your growler again, they give you half off the fill! When you check out, you can either do it with a cashier or drop and go in a tip box, 15%, 20%, or 25%.
