They have a beautiful and unique wine selection! They are a micro brewery so have lots of different beer options that are brewed there on site. They have a small food menu with things like charcuterie and also have $1 snack cups that are fun! The beer was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful! 7/12/24 The ladies requested samples prior to purchasing a bottle from the male bartender inside. We sampled the Pinot Grigio Bocelli and Txakolina Zudugari, but settled on the Huia Sauvignon Blanc. The bartender was accommodating but was far from inviting. Various beers were also ordered as well as a frose. I preferred the peach rose to the watermelon as it was just a bit less sweet. The female young bartender outside was bubbly and friendly. Food n/a. We didn't eat but I saw people eating tasty looking pizza from an attached kitchen outside. Service 3 stars. This is our go to spot in Matthews! The wine selection is great, and their beers are varied and I haven't had a bad one yet. The food options inside are only small bites, which are fine, but the pizzas sold outside are stellar, so definitely order from the outside kitchen if you need a meal. I love Seaboard! This is a great spot to grab a drink right in the heart of downtown Matthews. This past weekend, we enjoyed a glass of wine at Seaboard then walked to another business on the same street for dinner! I just love nights like that. Their wine selection is updated and maintained by their sommelier who is so knowledgeable. I meant to grab his name. We also did a wine tasting with him on a Tuesday for $10 which was so much fun. I have never eaten food here so I can't speak to that but the charcuterie boards are made to order and look fantastic! They have a Wine Club membership for $50/month includes 3 bottles of wine, a monthly pickup party, and other discounts as well! All in all, I highly recommend Seaboard. read more

We come here on a Friday night to enjoy the spring weather in downtown Matthews fall in joying a few local beverages. The wine and beer selection was pretty big, anywhere from bocks, stouts to ipas on the beer side, and virtually any wine you want, they have it. The patio area is pretty good, with 2 Pizza places right nearby and a cigar shop right next-door, and lots of other walkable options. The atmosphere was relaxed with all varieties of people enjoying themselves on the patio and inside at both the bar and tables. You can even text your order to the wait staff, which I thought was really neat. It was only missing a wow factor think. The prices were very high for what we got, so I think that brings it down a star. I will surely be back when visiting the area. read more

The wine was yummy. Buuuutt... the service and experience needs work. **For POC connoisseurs only** First vist. I have to admit my review is coming from a POC POV, so may not be relevant for all. But umm yikes. The minute I walked in I got stares and looks from the staff. No one greeted me and the ONE black girl was the first to speak and give me the run down. After my party trickled in, we paid for double tastings ($10 x 4 pours), was told our server David would be at the table shortly. David never showed. I went back to the front to let them know we were ready to get started (20mins later) and finally the same ONE BLACK employee eventually came over to start the tasting. My friends and I made the best of it and the wine helped but no no no. I won't be back anytime soon. Shame, because the wine was good. Truly disappointing. More context: I'm newer to Charlotte and haven't explored much of Matthews. However, my party was quite familiar with "Downtown Matthews" lol. I guess I had to see and feel for myself but bleh. Interior has high top and some bar seating - outside is a large streetfront patio with well seasoned picnic tables and a side/courtyard with more seating. Seaboard has a great selection of local and regional beers and the wine bar is nice to have as an alternative. Service is step up at the counter, friendly and efficient. The adjacent Exchange offers salads, a few frilled cheese sammich options and some excellent wood fired pizzas ordered from a window at the small blockhouse at the back of the courtyard. Great for people watching both walking through the town center or patrons swimming in their drinks, this is a very good choice if Moo and Brew is too full or not your thing. read more

We popped in for a quick drink while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. Seaboard is located next to a busy set of railroad tracks. As such, Seaboard is named after the old Seaboard Railroad Line. Their beers are named after defunct railroad lines or trains. I sampled the Silver Meteor IPA, Orange Honey Wheat, and Silver Comet Imperial Hall. All drank well and smooth, full flavor and body but not too heavy. They offer a number of visiting taps as well. Seaboard also offers a wine bar with a wide range of smaller, independent wineries. All wines are available by the glass or to go. There is a large patio that is dog-friendly and indoor seating too. The patio is well shaded from large trees. Next door is The Pizza Exchange. It is a takeout pizza place that you can bring in to eat. read more

First time coming here and it was a great experience! My husband works at a brewery so we were excited to taste something different than from his work. I had the tigers blood and it was very good. Not too sour but some unexpected flavors that I loved. We had the charcuterie, we got the pick 7, with extra baguette. It was plenty of food and it was all super fresh and delicious, the strawberry preserves were my favorite part! Definitely recommend for a fun date night. They were kind enough to sub the bread for pickles since I'm keto. I went to sit on the front porch and it was like I was at a playground. This is one of our Matthews local favorite! The place has indoor and outdoor sitting and just ample space, even enough for an event. The location is dead in the center of the nice quaint downtown Matthews. The place I believe was named because there use to be a railroad line (Seaboard) that ran goods up and down the East Coast and I believe there was a stop right around the corner. I am not an historian so please fact check me as I don't want to deliver fake news. Anyways! The place has awesome choose of drinks from non alcoholic to alcoholic and a wide variety from beer, wine, wine slush and etc. I knew it was a taproom but lo and behold a brewery as well. I honestly didn't know that and I feel ashamed I didn't get any their beers to taste as I have become less of a beer drinker by the day. I did try this new hard kombucha which was delightful and an acquired taste but satisfying. It was nice and simple but elegant. My favorite, absolute favorite thing here is the PIZZA! What you talking about Willis!? That pizza is so good! A guy in front of me ordered $100 worth! I was like man. He feeding the whole block lol. Try the pizza and everything else! We were looking for a quick bite to eat with the kiddos in downtown Matthew's and happened to stumble upon this location. Outside beside the restaurant, there is a little shack where they make pizzas. You go and order what you would like and then go sit down and they will bring the pizza to you. There are plenty of places to sit. There is outside seating all over the patio, and you can go sit inside the restaurant. We opted to sit inside. There is plenty of seat selection as well. In the back of the restaurant, there is a bar where they sell Frozen Rosè and I was super excited! I don't know many places that sell that, so I know this will definitely be a favorite spot during the summer. The pizza was delicious. The crust was super fluffy and not hard at all. Overall, it was a nice place, and I will definitely be going back during the summer for the Frozen Rosè. It wasn't too packed, but we did have to wait a bit for the pizza, but nothing too bad. They have wine and beer options which is an added plus because a lot of breweries don't have them. I liked the ambiance and decor and the staff were friendly and explained the beer menu, flight option, and their limited food menu. They did offer that they do always allow outside food & they have a pizza place that is a separate business outside on the patio that will deliver the pizza to your table. I was a little disappointed they didn't have more of a substantial food menu since they have 10 beers on draft that a more hearty food selection would accompany. They also seemed to be a wine bar as well and have a "create your own charcuterie board" option that seems like it was designed more for their wine section. I saw that they have a wine club as well. I don't hang out downtown Matthews much but I may need to start venturing further out from uptown more. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Such a nice place to enjoy some beers if that's your thing but for me the wine I selected was fabulous and not one you see on many menus around town. With a cigar lounge next door this makes for trouble as they also allow you to smoke on their patio. It I chose not to out of respect for the many kids around. I went here on a Friday night and it was incredibly busy - a packed house inside and out! I was lucky to snag a spot at the bar with a couple friends, though, and we were served promptly. The atmosphere here is chill and felt welcoming to beer drinkers and wine drinkers alike. It really felt like a place you could bring anyone and no matter who it is, they could find something to enjoy on the menu. As a wine lover, I appreciated the wine list here. Lots of good options and plenty that aren't your basic Chardonnay from California. I also really appreciated the service here. A couple bartenders checked in with me but it wasn't excessive. Seaboard is not only a Wine Bar/Taproom but now has the distinction of being the only brewery in Matthews. The look and feel of this place fits in well with rest of the area. Go through the gate and up the stairs to what almost seems like a cool California style house. I am in love with the doorknob. Inside you'll find several seating areas including two bars with plenty of stools. I'm a beer guy and can definitely appreciate what they had on tap. During our visit they had 7 of their own selections, nicely complemented by brews from Mikkeller, Oxbow, Grimm, American Solera and some great German ones to boot. I chose a full pour of their Silver Meteor IPA, a nice refreshing representation of a West Coast IPA loaded with some of my favorite hops like Mosaic and Citra. For wine drinkers, you can purchase by the glass, bottle or just buy retail to take home. The word is that they have over 1,000 bottles to choose from. The outside patio is spacious as well with an area where you can order pizza and wraps, "Exchange Pizza Depot". Great little place for wine and beer drinkers alike, with MOJO and the OG Beer Temple nearby. read more
