Enjoying a beverage a MSH during Xmas Market

Came here for Saint Patty's day weekend and it's off the hook! Bagpipers Irish dancers I'm a slowly good people looking for a good time. This is the first Saint Patty's Day party here since they took over the old beer temple building on trade Street. I think everyone that lives in Matthews is here! Anyone who likes to have fun anyways. Good times good drinks great atmosphere good music! Only complaint is pendant light hanging in front of the TV blocking my view while I'm hoping Man City whips the snot out of West Ham. Check it out when you can! Cheers!

Rustic Irish pub vibe , very welcoming and focuses on community . The venue perfectly blends cozy indoor charm with expansive outdoor space. Inside, the pub feels intimate and traditional like a genuine neighborhood spot in Ireland with a pool table, live music, and a bar that encourages conversation. You can tell that whomever designed this place designed it to foster social interactions with the long tables where strangers can intermingle and converse . Hours are generous: weekdays from 3 PM to midnight (or later in the lounge), and weekends from 11 AM to 2 AM, making it versatile for brunch vibes, afternoon hangs, or late-night drinks. Food centers on a Social Burger truck with simple, well-executed options: classic cheeseburger, Carolina BBQ burger, and Aloha burger (with pineapple and signature sauce "crack sauce"

This is probably my favorite bar in Matthews! I love a good Irish pub and Matthews Social House is a very charming one with great neighborhood vibes. They actually recently took over the former Beer Temple spot next door so they now have two indoor bars, along with their outdoor beer garden. The inside of the former Beer Temple feels a little more high end while the original building is a little more dive bar like but both are great spots to post up for a drink. They have plenty of outdoor seating along with heaters and fire pits for the colder nights, and lawn games and food trucks as well. Overall this little corner of Matthews is a great place to post up with friends and get your drink on!

On a visit to Charlotte, North Carolina, this apparently was the place to be. Matthews is definitely a small town in my opinion and the fact that this amazing family friendly bar was opened up was just the perfect addition. After I was picked up from the airport, we headed straight to the bar top and ordered some whiskey drinks and burgers from the food truck outside. Just to be clear, this is a whiskey bar. How can you go wrong with this place. I ordered the jalapeño burger, which was pretty good, but I honestly could've used more of a kick. My spice levels are not the same as everybody else's so it could be plenty for you. If being inside doesn't work for you and or your family, there is a large outdoor space with plenty of picnic tables, cornhole and even an ice cream truck. There was an update on Instagram that they opened up their outdoor bar as well, which is very convenient if you need to keep an eye on your kiddos. I honestly would be a regular if I lived in the area because this would definitely be a great place to come hang out with my friends on any given day.

I'm hesitant to write this post. Not because MSH doesn't deserve five stars, but because I feel this is an awesome hidden gem in Matthews. Matthews Social House is a small pub stashed just off the main drag in town, with a comfortable quaint bar area inside and an area as big as the pub itself out front. Outside offers up many picnic tables for gathering with friends, corn hole, and an ice cream food truck conveniently located just to the right of the pub if you have kids to bring with you. There's also a food truck serving up burgers and, from what I hear, amazing fries just to the left of the pub. The burger truck can be ordered from inside the bar. The inside of the pub is relatively small, that to me is what makes this place great. It will get crowded at night and on the weekends but it's the perfect type of place to grab a pint after work and not feel like your in a gymnasium. It's comfortable with 50 people or two. Feel free to check this place out, but don't go telling every one of your friends about it, I don't need them taking my seat at the bar.

I stopped by MSH after my Sunday league soccer game ... we took a 6-0 beating, but man did this place fix me right up. Beers were ice cold. Food was incredible - one of the best pub burgers that I have EVER had in my life. Wow - just WOW. And the fries were also amazing! Riley and Jacko behind the bar were stellar! This place is a great addition to the area. Do yourself a favor and go check them out. -Marco

I'm talking top tier, Veuve Clicquot Brut service...with a little spice...Best! He was so accommodating and keep us laughing the entire time. He went out of his way to make my day special! We started with beignets, oysters on the half shell and cocktails. Espresso Martinis, a Dirty Martini, and a specialty cocktail made to order. It may sound like a weird combination, but it all paired well together. I was in the mood for beef. So, I ordered the Wagyu Brunch Burger- 1/2 lb Wagyu, Over-Easy Egg, Grilled Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Hollandaise, Avocado Spread, Brioche Bun, Garlic and Herb Fries. The fam had the Veggie Ranchero omelet- Seasonal Beans, Grilled Corn, Pico de Gallo, Poblano, Cheddar, Avocado, Tortilla Strips, Ranchero, Chipotle-Lime Crema, and a Hashbrown Casserole. Fingerling Breakfast potatoes, with a side of bacon and eggs, and another Hashbrown Casserole. Everything was cooked to perfection. I had such a great time and can't wait to return. While I take full responsibility for arriving 15 minutes late, I was shocked at how rudely the hostess--who we later learned was the manager--handled the situation. Rather than a simple acknowledgment of the delay, or improbability of getting a table, she made a point to shame us, emphasizing that accommodating us would be an extra burden for her. This set an uncomfortable tone from the start. When she begrudgingly seated us at a table that had somehow magically become available, she made another unnecessary comment, implying that I should do my part to not make her job so difficult again. My partner was immediately put off and suggested we leave, but I decided to give the restaurant another chance, assuming the manager might just be having a rough night. Unfortunately, things did not improve. The food, best described as uninspired frozen bar fare from the main Duckworth's kitchen, took over 30 minutes to arrive--and even then, it was served before our drinks. When the drinks finally did arrive, they were nothing exceptional. I ordered a French 75, and my partner had a Paloma, only to realize that even the drinks had come from downstairs at Duckworth's. Given the restaurant's supposed reputation, I was surprised that it didn't have its own bar, unlike how things are set up at The Cellar. The only redeeming aspect of our visit was our waitress, who was pleasant and professional. However, what puzzled us the most was that despite the manager's initial reluctance to seat us, nearly half of the restaurant remained empty throughout the evening. With at least three or four servers working in a relatively small space, it was clear that staffing wasn't the issue--so why the hostility? It was hard not to wonder if other potential diners had been similarly turned off by the manager's deplorable attitude and the underwhelming menu. Overall, the experience left a bad taste in our mouths--both literally and figuratively. Between the lackluster food and drinks, and the uncalled-for attitude from management (she is bald and was wearing a dress on the evening of 2/14/25 at 9:30PM-11PM), I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.
