    Meat dumpling appetizer. So good!
    Debbie G.

I am not a Polish food expert but I know one thing, all the food we ate was delicious! U Gazdy is a quaint cozy restaurant. I like the rustic look and big comfortable chairs. My hubby and I sat at the bar. Our server was very nice and she makes good martinis! I had the U Gazdy martini and yes another one, the cucumber martini. Both martinis were awesome! You get homemade bread and Smalec. Some of the best I have had. We started with the dumpling appetizer. Soft dumplings with a meat filling covered in a light sauce. So good and you get a bunch of dumplings. The sauerkraut soup with smoked rib is deep in flavor and tasty. The stuffed cabbage rolls were amazing. The potato pancake with beef goulash was really good. For sure order the dumplings instead of mashed potatoes. So airy and light, yum! All the food we had is definitely homemade. Fresh and flavorful. I think the prices are reasonable and we had leftovers. I'll be back for sure!

Second time here. Monika was our waitress again & all of her recommendations were excellent. Roast duck, goulash & chicken soup, potato pancake with beef. There are a lot more dishes to try.

Ridiculously good! Easy five stars! Setting, service, quality, quantity, price - this checks all the boxes. Spend the money for the sauerkraut soup. Well worth it. Outstanding! We will be back...

    Gołąbki with mushroom sauce

My parents, cousin and I had dinner here tonight. Everything was amazing. The staff were so friendly an: patient. We did not feel rushed even though they were incredibly busy. And the food was delicious. Everything was savory and had this comfort food feel. We will definitely be coming back. We shared an order of potato pancake and the pierogi. I had the Gołąbki and it was amazing. Definitely make a reservation if you go on a weekend. It was very busy on a Saturday. And it was snowing.

I've heard so much about this restaurant! I haven't been there yet , but I've made reservations for my birthday on October 1st.....I'm Italian and LOVE LOVE LOVE Polish food!!! We'll, I finally went and was extremely disappointed. The establishment is very nice, clean and in the Highlander style. Warm bread was served and we ordered appetizers. Pierogis were good but the zucchini patties were flat and rubbery. The meals looked good but we're definitely not prepared fresh. The meats, both pounded steak and rolled chicken were as hard as rock....definitely not prepared that day. The pork shank was spectacular but the bone came out effortlessly (which should be good) but was also dry. I'm a bone picker, and the bone was DRY. The sauerkraut was so overcooked (or old) that it was brown and melted away. We left a good portion of our meals on the table or threw away the carry outs. I really anticipated this to be great, but sadly it was not.

My husband wanted Polish food and he came up with this place and why wouldn't I want to eat here with a maiden name of Gazda? Dorota our server was working her first night and explained she didn't speak English well, she did just fine and she was very nice. I got stuffed cabbage with mushroom gravy and dumplings ( an up charge of $2) and he got a stuffed potato pancake (we can't remember the name of the dish) it came with the Polish salad that consisted of beets, cucumbers and carrots, all very tasty. They started us off with bread and a cup of spread, we have no idea what it was but it was heavenly, we also were offered a choice of soups. The portions were generous and everything we ate was well seasoned and very enjoyable. See you soon

It definitely has a lively atmosphere, and I could hear Polish being spoken at many of the tables, which made the experience feel authentic. There were also plenty of non-Polish guests enjoying themselves as well. The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff were friendly, attentive, and kept everything running smoothly despite how large and busy the restaurant was. The restaurant was also very clean and well maintained. The food was fresh and satisfying. Portions were enormous, and many dishes are easily large enough to share between two people. The flavors were mild and balanced, which I appreciated since nothing was overly salty or heavy. The sauerkraut was good, although I personally would have preferred it to be a bit more sour. Overall, the food was enjoyable, the atmosphere was unique, and it's a fun place to experience Polish cuisine while enjoying a lively social setting.

It was time to try. We expected a bit of a hole in the wall and that's not what we found - we found a very nicely decorated and maintained restaurant with a lot of dark wood overtones - we were seated immediately and given an extensive menu. I ordered a Polish beer, and we ordered a Polish plate - kind of a combination sampler plate if you will - and a ground pork cutlet dinner. Now before we could say anything? Some bread showed up with a lovely but lightly flavored hummus type spread- we enjoyed it because it also came with a nice big half sized pickle. When the Polish plate came? OMG we had sauerkraut - we had sausage - we had some pierogies, and when the pork cutlet came out? It literally covered the entire plate and was resting on a bed of freshly mashed potatoes. We shared the Polish plate and we shared the extremely large pork cutlet. Now to be fair? We loved the Polish plate immensely - while the cutlet was nicely breaded, and the mashed potatoes were great? I'm not certain I could say that about the pork cutlet. There was nothing wrong with it. I think the flavor was fine, but it was not something that I would order again. It just wasn't my taste that's all. So would we come again? Yes. Yes we would!

Admittedly, I'm not an expert in Polish cuisine, but this restaurant has greatly increased my interest in trying more! Outside of the food, there's many things to like about this restaurant. The decor is nice and modern, and the presentation of the food is good for this price point. The restaurant is comfortable and good for sitting in for a while, with service that is extremely friendly. This reminds me of another excellent restaurant A Thousand Tales, where we are treated like family on every visit - even on the first visit there. It's very clear how proud the staff is of the restaurant and the food they serve, and they take the effort to explain the food to the diner. Fortunately, the food is just as good as it looks. I've been looking for food that's prepared from scratch with high quality ingredients that aren't reliant on heavy sauces, and this really hit the mark. Everything from the bread with herbs and butter to the delicious soups was prepared fresh and tasty. Similarly, with the chips and salsa - it was clear that this was homemade with a great flavor to match. Unsurprisingly, the pastor tacos were full of flavor, with a generous amount of slightly fatty pork, fresh cilantro, and onions served with fresh lime. These were some of the best tacos I've had in recent memory from any restaurant, and I am definitely a huge fan of the preparation (the sweetness of the pineapple juice perfectly matched the bold mix of spices). The sampler platter was also a great option which gave a mix of many different items. The goulash was delicious with the mushrooms and sautee pepper. The pierogis had the perfect firmness and delicious filling. The sausage was flavorful and juicy. The potato pancakes could've been a bit more crisp but the flavor was still good. The breaded pork schnitzel was tasty and had just the right amount of breading. Overall, definitely recommend going to this spot for anything that's looking for high quality made from scratch food at a reasonable price point. The great service and elegant interior is a bonus on top of a very enjoyable and filling meal.

The place itself is incredibly inviting, all warm wood, cozy corners, very Bavarian lodge meets Polish soul. It was busy and buzzing, and Polish was the main language at nearly every table... except ours, which was happily bilingual in Spanish. It felt authentic, lively, and full of life. The service was friendly, fun, and patient, guiding us through the menu with enthusiasm. We shared a feast: pelmeni, Highlander-style pork shank, kiszka, Real Man's Meatballs (Męskie Klopsiki), and other delicious goodness that made the table groan (in the best way). Every dish was hearty, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. It was also my birthday, and just when I thought the night couldn't get better, the staff surprised me with dessert and sang Happy Birthday in Polish. I loved it. Big smiles, full heart. The food was so good that I stayed behind afterward to order takeout for my husband, stuffed cabbage (gołąbki) and pierogi, because sharing joy is important... and leftovers are sacred. Vegetable soup - Soooo good and affordable too. Much better than anything you can get at the store, even in their deli departments. Potato pancakes - The single best potato pancakes we've ever had. Sour Rye Soup: Not bad, but honestly, I wouldn't order it again... the fermented sourness was just too direct and intense. Polish Hunters Stew: Apparently a national dish of Poland. The first bite tasted like Italian meat sauce, with a rich tomato flavor and a slight smoky aroma; then I discovered the ingredients included sausage, cured beef brisket, minced meat, and sauerkraut, making it quite substantial and much more satisfying than Italian meat sauce. Overall, it was a rich, sweet and sour flavor, perfect with rice, pasta, or bread. Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi: Dumplings, but the Polish version. The sauerkraut was only slightly sour, refreshing and delicious with the mushrooms, while the sour cream added a touch of creaminess and richness. Unfortunately, the skin was thick and sticky, as if it had been boiled for a long time. For better dumplings skin, please turn to a Northeastern Chinese. Half Duck: Strangely, it reminded me of confit de canard. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone with a gentle pull; the melt-in-your-mouth texture was truly delightful. The cranberry sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, with a rich fruity and fermented aroma. The rosemary emerged in the aftertaste, enriching the flavors and cutting through the richness. The accompanying sauerkraut was even better than the duck, with a crunchy texture and a mild, pleasant sourness, enveloped in a rich buttery and creamy flavor. The accompanying fpotatoes were also soft and delicious, but the roasted pear was too overpowering in its softness and sweetness, not meeting my expectations for a palate cleanser. Table Bread: The bread itself was unremarkable, but the generous amount of butter was commendable. I cannot believe that there is only one server for all the tables.
