When I ordered their Pljeskavica with melted kaymak sauce, my server suggested it to me as my first European meal. Basically, it's a big patty with chopped parsley, green onions, and dried crushed pepper on top. This golden pool sauce covered the patty. Although it appears simple, it was amazing. It was incredibly enjoyable for me.

Well I discovered this restaurant on my way home from work this past Thursday as I was eating at my Bulgarian restaurant that I'm familiar with called Sophia grill. Well I made it as a bucket list to try and I am glad I did this because I was looking for something different and Eastern European cuisine is always interesting coming from eating to much of the popular ethnic food that I was getting tired of. One thing I noticed with these Eastern European restaurants as they don't give water when dining in. Anyways wanted something different than my usual popular mainstream ethic food and this was it. Well in comparison to Bulgarian they had much more variety. I started with the Balkan Serbian beef soup in which they also give bread and it was uniquely delicious well to me. It wasn't tomato base it was much more savory and gravy with the herbs in which you eat it with bread. The next dish was the Serbian Balkan sausage just called "Cevapcici with Kaymak" and it was also tasty too if not uniquely delicious. They put onions underneath as garnish and light spices. Ordered some mixed vegetables which was a good choice. It was zucchini and the sweet peppers and paprika that was grilled very delicious and savory. I also ordered another smoothie like drink both in strawberry first and in blueberry as a beverage to say don't give water. I like the blueberry more but the strawberry was good too since there's not too many blueberry beverages. I ended it up with the Balkan cake which was also delicious too in regards to the flavor it was like a cheesecake texture with strawberries and graham cracker bread as the base. After my low calorie diet for a month and a week in March I definitely will come back here and try some of the other specials they also have Balkan hamburgers Serbian style but I shall see next to Beef Stew with Mash Potatoes. Four out of five stars because they don't serve water. If they do it's bottle water and I did not want to pay. Somewhat expensive dinner at $50 I ordered worth of food alone but overall it was delicious

What a pleasant surprise. And unassuming restaurant in a strip plaza that turned out to be quite nice. Nicely decorated with a Serbian flair. I had the Serbian sausages served over onions with a cream cheese. Deliriously spiced and beatifully grilled. My friend had the goulash over a mashed potatoes. The taste was quite good. I started my dinner with the beet salad which was quite tasty. My friend had the Mediterranean salad that was pretty spectacular. I highly recommend this place. All fresh made and reasonably priced. The server was also quite good.

Seriously, this is one of the best restaurants for food that we have visited. If you put this food in an upscale restaurant with white linen tablecloth's and fine china you could charge twice the price! I can't wait to go back to try some of the other food items, especially this loaded mixed platter I saw brought out for another guest. If you're a vegetarian, go someplace else. They love their meat. They will be opening up a bakery next-door soon.

Odlicna domaca kuhinja na dobroj lokaciji. Uvek prijano osoblje, velike porcije. Razumne cene u odnosu na ostala balkanska mesta.

This spot gets everything right-…read moreplenty of parking, fast and friendly service, elegant decor, big portions, and delicious food! Admittedly, I'm not an expert in Polish cuisine, but this restaurant has greatly increased my interest in trying more! Outside of the food, there's many things to like about this restaurant. The decor is nice and modern, and the presentation of the food is good for this price point. The restaurant is comfortable and good for sitting in for a while, with service that is extremely friendly. This reminds me of another excellent restaurant A Thousand Tales, where we are treated like family on every visit - even on the first visit there. It's very clear how proud the staff is of the restaurant and the food they serve, and they take the effort to explain the food to the diner. Fortunately, the food is just as good as it looks. I've been looking for food that's prepared from scratch with high quality ingredients that aren't reliant on heavy sauces, and this really hit the mark. Everything from the bread with herbs and butter to the delicious soups was prepared fresh and tasty. Similarly, with the chips and salsa - it was clear that this was homemade with a great flavor to match. Unsurprisingly, the pastor tacos were full of flavor, with a generous amount of slightly fatty pork, fresh cilantro, and onions served with fresh lime. These were some of the best tacos I've had in recent memory from any restaurant, and I am definitely a huge fan of the preparation (the sweetness of the pineapple juice perfectly matched the bold mix of spices). The sampler platter was also a great option which gave a mix of many different items. The goulash was delicious with the mushrooms and sautee pepper. The pierogis had the perfect firmness and delicious filling. The sausage was flavorful and juicy. The potato pancakes could've been a bit more crisp but the flavor was still good. The breaded pork schnitzel was tasty and had just the right amount of breading. Overall, definitely recommend going to this spot for anything that's looking for high quality made from scratch food at a reasonable price point. The great service and elegant interior is a bonus on top of a very enjoyable and filling meal.

I called the restaurant about an hour and 30 minutes after I picked up this order. I spoke with the same person who handed me the order, who related over the phone he has been serving this food for 13 years and no one was ever dissatisfied. He apologized for my experience and offered to refund the $75 I paid, or issue me a coupon for a couple of free of charge meals. I declined the meals and requested a refund. This occurred on 15 May 2026. Today is 21 May 2026. I'm still waiting for the refund...

Don't refuse the big portions of pita bread, when offered; the pita was warm and fluffy. The Serbian salad of tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and mild cheese , all ingredients marinated in a mild, clear sauce , was a meal that can be shared by two ( or more). My spouse had the marinated mushrooms with chicken , which was very flavorful; the accompanying fries were a joy to eat. I had the signature 'stew' , which went by a local name, with subliminal spices; also very good in quantity and quality. When the food is accompanied by a thoughtful waitress , the experience is really enjoyable: she made recommendations and ensured ou experience was engaging. Said it's what they grew up with and they've not had better. The friend I was traveling with was on board so it's how we both ended up having Serbian in Chicago. Lots of parking. Small private lot. Street parking galore. It was a sleepy evening. There was only one party (of four) when we went in. I have to admit, I was skeptical. But the aroma wafting from the kitchen ... My friend and I shared everything. Generous portions. I stuffed myself beyond what I should have. But I couldn't get enough of the grilled meats and roasted vegetables. I could have eaten nothing but the lepinja and kajmak but putting them altogether was so tasty that I just kept eating and eating. The one woman show - she was awesome. Not much English but wasn't needed. She was so pleasant and welcoming and the barrier wasn't an issue - at least for me. As she was a one person team FOH, there were times I wondered if she was also in the back cooking as she would be gone here and there but would show up right when she was needed. I don't know of many Serbian restaurants here in SoCal but when I do (and remember that is), I'll definitely go and see if it compares. I just know it was an excellent meal on my last evening in Chicago for my summer road trip.
