Oh my mead!! So, so good!
    Teresa M.

I'm super happy to have found this place!! Mead usually isn't on my radar - it's pretty hard to find and can be pretty pricey. BUT a few weeks ago I overheard a customer in the grocery store asking if they had mead (they didn't) so that got me thinking.... Turns out there's a meadery basically in my backyard. Wow, I've been missing out!! I had put them on my "to-do list," but when I learned they had a sale of 3+ bottles through the end of the year it became a do-it-now list. Located in a business office, it's super easy to get to from Southcenter and they have a tasting room that will be great when things go back to normal. Along with the mead, they have an eclectic section of various art products for sale, most (all?) of which are actually made by the employees! Definitely one of those times that I find myself really wanting something, but not 100% sure where I'd put it. Excellent customer service! I knew I wanted the limited edition Elderberry, but what else? I asked about their signature products and was told that semi-sweet is going to be the closest thing they have at that moment, but "dragon's blood" should be in stock around March (now that sounds like their signature mead!). I opted for the semi, elderberry, and barrel aged. The price was as I expected to be; more than I want to pay on a regular basis, but it's fun to get it here and there as a treat! All three meads were really awesome and I'm definitely looking forward to trying other offerings. I'm especially looking for the tasting room to open back up. Apparently they don't serve food, but you can bring takeout in. SOLD! Let's be real: I'm going to go back in for another bottle or 2 (or 3 or 4??) before restrictions open up again, but I'm still definitely looking forward to trying their products right from the tap. Awesome local company with an awesome, locally made product. Get it while it's cold :-)

I didn't know that I liked mead. I only knew that I and hindsight drank cheap mead which makes a difference. The first thing that you notice walking into this establishment is the layout. It's like walking into a great hall with plenty of wood and fur accents, and it's also decorated with colorful paintings and some really cool ones with runes. It looks like it's definitely a tabletop gamer's paradise as well. I liked how spacious it was yet we were able to fit over 30 people easily. The owner John was very talkative and knowledgeable, So as the party was warming up we asked him questions about me and he answered them extensively. John, let us try a bunch of different samples and I'm going to have to recommend the dragon's blood for sure, what she says is not only his best seller but most dangerous for its high alcohol content. My husband really liked the semi-sweet dry traditional.

I didn't even know this meadery existed until Steve and I went to a meadery in Tacoma and was referred to come to Oppegaard to try. A few weekends we did take up on the suggestion and paid a visit. The taproom is open for to go bottle and merchandise sales but alas the tasting room itself was closed still as a precaution of covid-19. Despite that we were greeted in a very friendly fashion not to mention a very informative one too! We decided to get a bottle of the Elderberry Mead and a shirt. We tried the mead a few days later and absolutely loved it! The mead was very well crafted and flavorful. Definitely a far cry from bland! I'll need to try other meads from this business in the future. I'm quite sure whatever I may by I will immensely enjoy it.

They have excellent mead, which I guess is the biggest thing. They do a variety of styles and flavor profiles and limited edition. They also sell cute crochet things that benefit local causes and some nerd odds and ends. Overall very happy with the good and service even during Covid.

Super fun, kind of hidden, cute spot!…read more I've always seen the sign but never came in until this past week with a few friends! This was my first time trying mead and I really liked a lot of them! The bubbly ones on tap were lighter and really yummy! I definitely like sweeter drinks, so the dessert ones (black magic and isilu shadow) were high on my list. They had lots of flavors with most of them being fruity. There are a few options for flights, and the choice to try every single flavor! The actual indoor area was pretty small, with only enough room for the bar, one table for 6 and a little bar top seat, and the bathroom. Because of the size, the bathroom is literally 2 feet away from the table and is inside a sliding door that does not fully seal shut. It was decently loud inside with the music playing but definitely not the place to go if you need privacy in the bathroom. They had another couple tables (2/3?) outside but it's tucked in a narrow alley so it was pretty tight out there as well. There is a stack of games to play inside and it has great decor! Overall, the drinks, vibes, and service were great! We had 7 people and completely filled the inside of the shop, so I would recommend a smaller group. The shop is down a narrow set of stairs between 2 building and another few stairs from the door down to the bar. I'm not sure if there is another entrance, so I believe this would be inaccessible for someone who was unable to use stairs. 4/5! Would definitely come here again and recommend to someone who wants to try something new! Very hidden spot type place!

The meadery is a quirky, welcoming, family-friendly spot and for this event they featured live music, cosplay (sword fighting in full armor) and fire dancing, along with food vendors. They have picnic grounds, a great taproom, and plenty of mead flavors. Bring your own food, because they don't serve food, only drink here, typically. Or visit during a special event, when they'll have outside vendors as guests and food available. For Summer Solstice they had Whidbey Pies (known for strawberry rhubarb, marrionberry and cherry pies) and a local wood-fired pizza maker. A hierophant is a guide to sacred mysteries, which feels like the perfect name for a spot prepared to introduce you to the mysteries of mead. We recommend checking out their online calendar, to catch an event here.

Lots of sunny and shaded outdoor seating with some on a patio and some out on the lawn with picnic tables, or inside the building. This is only the second meadery I've been to, and I feel like their flavors are much lighter, without any that I tried leaning towards the sweet dessert style mead. They have flat and bubbly options, as well as some really cool flavors. They have preset flights but on certain days you can create your own, so that's what I did! I personally really liked the spiced apple, PNW chai, and the hopped meadjito was my favorite! They don't make food but they do have a fridge with some items to make mini charcuterie boards! I found out that they sell their products at pcc's and metropolitan markets so I'm excited to grab some more from there!

But before I broke out that mead a trip to the Olympia area was already in the works so I figured I'd go to their taproom in Lacey. I was quite impressed with the mead here! The first mead I had was the Pink Bike Helmet mead. This had a great blending of pear and apple and of course honey. The balance was well handled and I enjoyed it. But the mead that I liked best, even after I broke open the Death Metal Guys bottle on Thanksgiving was their Hatch Chili Mead. Oh, man! I'm very partial to hatch chilis in the first place but the fact that I came across a pepper mead was just wonderful! It had a nice heated kick to it with the smoothness of the honey that followed. A fantastic mead and one I'd definitely seek out again. Then like I said I broke out the Death Metal Guys over the Thanksgiving holiday. This was a syrupy, blackberry mead with a boozy flair to it. It was good too and perfect for the holiday! But my mind will always drift back to that Hatch Chili Mead. Just writing this review makes me want to plan another trip down to their taproom so I can have another glass!

Blue Skye was a real treat and to be honest I like the mead more at this place than some of the other places in the far south Seattle metro area. We ducked in here and although the place is small we got to taste several meads which proved to be great! While drinking they weren't too think and ran down smooth and light. I have a slight issue with some mead where it just seems a tad too thick as it goes down but I found no such issue here. We bought two bottles to take home and really enjoyed them! The space for this meadery is small and there isn't really a place to sit and enjoy the mead but as far as I'm concerned taking it home is just fine too! One of the bottles we got was the Serenity which was a blackberry mead that had a great aroma and tartness to it! The other bottle we bought I think was my favorite, the Bloody Bog.This great mead had blood oranges in it and locally crafted cranberries that were grown in Long Beach, WA. This mead was not too sweet as it may possibly sound with the ingredients. Definitely well crafted mead and a place I will eager to back to. I will keep an eye out for any future meads that this business will put out!
