Probably the best meads I've ever tried. I always thought mead was so strong and too sweet. But it's actually really pleasant to drink and so refreshing! We found a lot of mead options we would like to introduce to our friends. They all taste really good with ice and flavored sparkling water. They also have wines as well for wine lovers! ***dog friendly!!! Love that already*** Located in Renton/Tukwila area Decor inside is so cute and has a lot of stories to them. Really likes the lanterns! Owner couple were so great and kind to chat with us and explaining their journey to us. We became a member to this place from this one visit!! You just have to buy 3 bottles every quarter, you get 20% discount on bottle purchases, access to club-only releases, etc for member benefits! I wish they offer better glasses options next time.

I didn't know mead could taste this good! I have never cared for mead, but my friend likes it and a couple weeks ago I bought him a bottle of Skullduggery upon seeing it at Renton's Farmer's Market. He drank the entire bottle in 24 hours and proclaimed it the best mead ever, so going to the tasting room seemed like a logical thing to do. Located in a commercial complex Contrivance has a steampunk theme with the coolest logo. Their steampunk bee was what caught my attention! We were entering as a couple was leaving - it's not a very big space probably only able to fit six comfortably which is going to be a problem for them because word is going to get out and people will fill this place up! My friend did the mead flight. I tried the wine flight. The wine flight was solid with the Riesling in particular standing out. After having a sip of one of the meads I opted for the mead flight and that's where they shine. The meads are amazing! I personally like jammier flavors while my friend prefers earthy flavors and we found flavors we both loved! I was so terribly impressed. The mead maker / owner is wonderful. He explained everything we drank providing history and context. He was critical of his work - flavors I loved he noted where he wanted to make improvements on. The man is an artist! We bought several bottles as he noted his inventory was running low on our favorites. He is also always creating so it will be exciting to see what he comes up with next!

This place was so fun!! Great tasting meads and solid wines. The steam punk decor was awesome, too. We would totally come back the next time we're in town.

My co-worker wanted to try this place out for their wine tasting. All the wines were good and some had an interesting taste. The Cabernet Sauvignon had the perfect taste. The Airship Red Blend 2018 was smooth taste and the Syrah, 2018 had great taste. The Mead wines were very distinctive. I'm not really into sweet wines. I must admit one of the Mead wines smells like the breath of a coffee drink and smoker. But if you can get past the smell. It is a delicate and delicious wine. The owner was superb in explaining each wine delicately. If you're ever in Seattle, WA please stop and enjoy the wine tasting and help out your local winemaker. Yelpers, let's continue to eat and drink our way throughout the world. #FOODIE4LIFE.

Delicious meads!! A must visit in the area. Kind people that run it and a fun, steampunk feel.

Probably my favorite one however is the Lady Grey as it is a Earl Grey flavored mead which is simply out of this world.

After reading all of the great reviews, I stopped in this afternoon to try a flight of Mead. I am…read morenot much of a drinker but I have been told that I would love Mead because it is so sweet. The few times I have tried it, I enjoyed it, so I wanted to explore that. When you arrive, you will see a sign directing you to the rear of the building. There is plenty of parking. The meadery is well decorated and welcoming. They have large tables and small ones and a more cozy couch type seating area with a fireplace. They had lots of table games on offer and signs for D&D (another thing I know nothing about but my son loves). I really enjoyed the music they were playing and the ambiance was lovely. The flight is $12 before tip end you get six different needs to taste. Currently they are: Traditional, Cherry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Bearskal and Dragon's Blood. I enjoyed the traditional mead but it was much less sweet than any I had tried before, which makes sense as it was listed at a sweetness of 3 out of 10. The other samples were earthy and tart and tasted like fruit wines I have tried but again much less sweet. The highest sweetness on the flight was 6/10 but that seemed high to me based on what I experienced. I actually found the 3/10 original to be sweeter than any of the others. I am sure, especially based on the reviews here, that to alcohol connoisseurs they are delicious, but as I said, I have a novice palate and they were just not for me. When I returned the flight and went to pay, the young lady working asked me if I liked them and I answered honestly. She explained to me based on what I was saying that I would enjoy much sweeter, more honey based meads and gave me a taste of a peach mead they were almost out of. I quite liked it. She also said it sounded like I would prefer meads on tap as opposed to bottled and now I have a much better idea of what to look for in the future. I had a nice time here and appreciate the opportunity to experience the different meads and learn in a friendly environment. I would gladly come back again, especially when they have some sweeter meads on tap :)

He suggested one or two of the meads that we would like and got a couple of glasses to drink while chatting. The place is so spacious but a little on the cold side. I'm sure when there are more people it warms up quite a bit since it's a warehouse like location. They have games you can play with your group and since they do not really sell food besides a few bags of chips you can bring your own food to eat as long as you clean up after yourselves. Also the place is dog friendly as well.

Super fun, kind of hidden, cute spot!…read more I've always seen the sign but never came in until this past week with a few friends! This was my first time trying mead and I really liked a lot of them! The bubbly ones on tap were lighter and really yummy! I definitely like sweeter drinks, so the dessert ones (black magic and isilu shadow) were high on my list. They had lots of flavors with most of them being fruity. There are a few options for flights, and the choice to try every single flavor! The actual indoor area was pretty small, with only enough room for the bar, one table for 6 and a little bar top seat, and the bathroom. Because of the size, the bathroom is literally 2 feet away from the table and is inside a sliding door that does not fully seal shut. It was decently loud inside with the music playing but definitely not the place to go if you need privacy in the bathroom. They had another couple tables (2/3?) outside but it's tucked in a narrow alley so it was pretty tight out there as well. There is a stack of games to play inside and it has great decor! Overall, the drinks, vibes, and service were great! We had 7 people and completely filled the inside of the shop, so I would recommend a smaller group. The shop is down a narrow set of stairs between 2 building and another few stairs from the door down to the bar. I'm not sure if there is another entrance, so I believe this would be inaccessible for someone who was unable to use stairs. 4/5! Would definitely come here again and recommend to someone who wants to try something new! Very hidden spot type place!

Blue Skye was a real treat and to be honest I like the mead more at this place than some of the other places in the far south Seattle metro area. We ducked in here and although the place is small we got to taste several meads which proved to be great! While drinking they weren't too think and ran down smooth and light. I have a slight issue with some mead where it just seems a tad too thick as it goes down but I found no such issue here. We bought two bottles to take home and really enjoyed them! The space for this meadery is small and there isn't really a place to sit and enjoy the mead but as far as I'm concerned taking it home is just fine too! One of the bottles we got was the Serenity which was a blackberry mead that had a great aroma and tartness to it! The other bottle we bought I think was my favorite, the Bloody Bog.This great mead had blood oranges in it and locally crafted cranberries that were grown in Long Beach, WA. This mead was not too sweet as it may possibly sound with the ingredients. Definitely well crafted mead and a place I will eager to back to. I will keep an eye out for any future meads that this business will put out!

The meadery is a quirky, welcoming, family-friendly spot and for this event they featured live music, cosplay (sword fighting in full armor) and fire dancing, along with food vendors. They have picnic grounds, a great taproom, and plenty of mead flavors. Bring your own food, because they don't serve food, only drink here, typically. Or visit during a special event, when they'll have outside vendors as guests and food available. For Summer Solstice they had Whidbey Pies (known for strawberry rhubarb, marrionberry and cherry pies) and a local wood-fired pizza maker. A hierophant is a guide to sacred mysteries, which feels like the perfect name for a spot prepared to introduce you to the mysteries of mead. Lots of sunny and shaded outdoor seating with some on a patio and some out on the lawn with picnic tables, or inside the building. This is only the second meadery I've been to, and I feel like their flavors are much lighter, without any that I tried leaning towards the sweet dessert style mead. They have flat and bubbly options, as well as some really cool flavors. They have preset flights but on certain days you can create your own, so that's what I did! I personally really liked the spiced apple, PNW chai, and the hopped meadjito was my favorite! They don't make food but they do have a fridge with some items to make mini charcuterie boards! I found out that they sell their products at pcc's and metropolitan markets so I'm excited to grab some more from there!

But before I broke out that mead a trip to the Olympia area was already in the works so I figured I'd go to their taproom in Lacey. I was quite impressed with the mead here! The first mead I had was the Pink Bike Helmet mead. This had a great blending of pear and apple and of course honey. The balance was well handled and I enjoyed it. But the mead that I liked best, even after I broke open the Death Metal Guys bottle on Thanksgiving was their Hatch Chili Mead. Oh, man! I'm very partial to hatch chilis in the first place but the fact that I came across a pepper mead was just wonderful! It had a nice heated kick to it with the smoothness of the honey that followed. A fantastic mead and one I'd definitely seek out again. Then like I said I broke out the Death Metal Guys over the Thanksgiving holiday. This was a syrupy, blackberry mead with a boozy flair to it. It was good too and perfect for the holiday! But my mind will always drift back to that Hatch Chili Mead. Just writing this review makes me want to plan another trip down to their taproom so I can have another glass!
