After my experience with the Optic Outlet in Lady Lake. Now I know why their rating is 3.5 out of a 5.0 The visit felt like you were purchasing a used car, with final price being hidden. Wait! It gets worse. One of the lenses fell out. My wife went to have them fixed. She was told the glasses were over four years old, and I would need a full eye exam and must purchase a new pair. Not even close. The glasses were about two months old or less. Update. I went to the same location that my wife went to. I was curious about how I would be treated. Very nice young lady. However, the first thing was to try and get me to take out an insurance policy for the new lens. When we got to the price for one replacement lens, I was quoted about 25% more money than the original glasses cost. I am in my early 70s and have never made a negative review in the past. I felt obligated to warn others of what they could experience if they are using Optic Outlet in Lady Lake Florida. read more

could've had better communication with what I was paying, was thinking I was paying for contacts and have been waiting to only be told I paid for only an eye exam and get a trial contact. why the hell would I only get an eye exam and no contacts, common sense. My husband and I had an exam and purchased glasses. We were totaly blown away by the incredible staff ! From the front checkin to the time we left. Our Doctor ( Alycia Chlarmonti ) was the best I have ever seen, personality and knowledge. I have been wearing glasses for 42 years and she was outstanding in her field. After picking out our new frames we were helped by a young lady Angela, she also was grest! she was able to get the things we needed in our glasses as well as having a great personality . I called ahead and was told we didn't need an appt. just for glasses with our own prescription. My husband and I walked in and were greeted by the nicest and kindest young man, Johnny. He was very helpful and we were in and out in no time. He told us the glasses would be ready within 2 weeks. A week later we were notified they were ready for p/u. Yesterday we went in and again was greeted by Johnny who by the way, was still friendly and nice. We didn't need any adjustments, they fit perfectly. Scheduled appointment way ahead of time because it is hard for me to get transportation and when I got there they said doctor had left because I don't have active insurance that they could find. I was self pay. They even called the day before to confirm my appointment and made no inquiries about insurance then. read more

I had an appointment for my son here. They double booked me and canceled my appointment leaving my son without much needed optical care. When I called they were sarcastic and rude on the phone and basically told me they didn't care, I could take another appointment more than two weeks out or find someone else. I'm very up set, how our appointment was canceled for being two minutes late, and was told by those at the from desk, that the eye doctor had canceled our appointment, because she needed to leave. What nonsense, why didn't she come out and tell us to our face. Then they insulted us, by brining a person of Latino decent to repeat to us what the front desk told us, that we needed to reschedule an appointment, like if we didn't understand English, shame on you Optical Outlet. Our father in law is 87 yrs young, as I explained, and for being a couple of minutes late, you cancel, doesn't make any sense because, she had to do the exam, and that takes time, and was going to be late for where ever she was going. I don't like to bring this up, but, don't these businesses know, what it takes as I explained, to dress, carefully bring them to the car, drive there, carefully take him out, only to be canceled. They asked me again, and said if we would like to schedule an appointment. I simply said no, there are plenty of other vision centers to give our business to, and the Latina replies, okay, and just walks away. I would suggest, as I saw many seniors there at the waiting room, if you need an eye exam for a senior of age, 80 or older get there 15 minutes earlier, or be subject to your appointment being cancel. It's not fair, when a business over books their appointments and make you wait for any amount of time, but will cancel your appointment for being 2 minutes late and that was how late we were because it just takes a little longer to bring in a 87 yr old into the clinic. The owner should be reading these reviews and making changes accordingly, because receiving these bad reviews will lead to loss business. I will be seeking an explanation of why my father in laws appointment was canceled for just 2 minutes, because the exam was going to take at least a 1/2 hour, and canceling because she had to leave was not an excuse. Don't go to this business for anything, they are rude and the doctor will not come out and tell you face to face, why she is canceling your appointment but leaves to her minions to do the dirty work... read more

I just purchased glasses from this place on June 17th which were ready for pick up on Monday the 24th. I picked them up that day and immediately realized that I should have spent the additional almost $150 for the "high definition" progressives rather than go for the middle range lenses I could comfortably pay for. A customer sitting in the waiting area actually cautioned me against choosing the mid-range lenses and tried to explain that the "high definition" lenses were well worth the extra cost. Being my first pair of progressives, I didn't understand what that meant so I went with what I could afford which was $475 for a regular no frills no thrills pair of glasses. Big mistake. That's my 1st problem. The Optical Outlets representative certainly did not elaborate on this topic with me at all and was more concerned about getting done with me and moving on to the next person. At any rate, I picked up my glasses a few days ago and have been attempting everything humanly possible to get used to them. I doubt it's going to work. It's like trying to see through a kaleidoscope. 2nd problem is that despite cleaning these things with nothing more than an alcohol/water mixed solution and the little soft cloth thing PROVIDED to me by them, my lenses now have what appear to be several scratches on them. I did not scratch them. I didn't drop them. I did only what I was advised to do with them and they're scratched. I called the office number to inquire about this and the rep (who was clearly from an answering service and not in the actual office) first asked me if I had bought the no scratch coating. I said I had not but that nobody had told me that they would be scratched within 4 days of handling and cleaning exactly as advised no matter what. That's unacceptable. I had to leave a message to be called back within "24-48 hours" even though it's only 2 pm on a business day. I had better hear back from someone in that office today saying bring those defective suckers back in and we'll make it right as soon as possible. read more

With the rock-solid belief that no human or business is perfect, you have to judge a place like this by looking at the big picture. Did I get decent glasses for a good price? Yes. Did I get a good exam for a great price? Yep. I had a new doctor there (Alycia) and she got my RX *spot on*, the best I have had in years. Did the staff treat me nicely, even when it was busy in there? Yes. This was my third time at this location, and this time I had not one little problem. The previous times, small ones were handled immediately. I never wait even a week for my glasses. The manager, Samantha, and most of the help has been there for years and do their best. Like I said--no place is perfect. I recommend this place since it saves me big money and the glasses are good quality. read more

Don't use this company. That are money hungry and rude. My insurance covers a free pair of glasses. Optical Outlets gave me very little frame options. When I got my glasses one of the arms was loose. I went back a few times and complained. They told me they could not give me new frames without trying to fix these ones first. After being fixed, the arm would come loose again in a few weeks. The glasses were also digging into the back of my ears. The rude girl at the counter didn't care. She said that's the way they fit and I picked that frame. After about 4 trips there the arm finally fell off. When I took the glasses back I insisted on a new frame. They charged me for the frame even though it was the same as the broken one, no upgrade. The girl said I should of came back right away. I told her I have been back several times and she waited on me. She said do you expect me to remember everyone that comes in. The new frames also dug into my ears. I took them to the Eyesite store by Brownwood and they fixed them in less then a minute. read more

Not happy at all with the service. Glasses ordered 2/27 and told a week to ten days. I finally give up on waiting on them to call and called them on 3/26, just to be told glasses came in the night before. I don't know if that was true or if they had been just sitting there for a couple weeks. They had no clue what took so long. They have no system of follow up if there is a delay for any reason at lab. They really did not seem concerned for the bad service. Stay away. The staff is totally unprofessional. Glasses arrived wrong. Went back third time and they refunded my money. They are one of the places listed with my insurance (the other being Walmart and my optometrist). While they have much cheaper frames, not worth the aggravation. You get what u pay for. read more

The doctor, who we had not met before, was unusually casual which made me uncomfortable. The optician did not make helpful suggestions regarding frames. When talking lenses she made recommendations - the most expensive lenses they carry. Then changed that selection when filling out the order form. My glasses were measured wrong. But instead of acknowledging it, they tried to adjust the frames to account for it. The nose pads were nearly vertical and I was never comfortable or able to see correctly. After 30 minutes, they finally redid the measurements and ordered new glasses. My sunglasses were no better. They changed the angle of them and now things do not appear straight -- it is like looking thru a fisheye lens though no where near the exaggerated. They only offer 30 days to get things fixed and that is simply not enough time. Every time you go, there are different staffers and you have to explain everything from the beginning. I've been wearing glasses for 64 year and have never been in an office that was run so unprofessionally. Machine for testing glaucoma didn't work properly. Staff was non-existent as they were spending their time in a backroom. Never took people in order even with appointments and at least one doctor seemed to care less that he was there. Wouldn't even consider getting my glasses there and will never go back for an exam. Anyone heard of puppy mill? This is a puppy mill for eye exams and glasses. read more

I previously gave them a one star however after my recent visit I have to upgrade them to a five star. I was welcomed as I entered the store and was helped by Ava to select frames and I've picked up my frames with lenses and love them. Did not need any kind of adjustment. My wife and I stopped in to pick up some glasses at the Optical Outlets shop in Lady Lake, Florida. We were a little surprised and a somewhat concerned that they had only one female employee working between six and seven in the evening. We were concerned that it might not be safe for a lone worker by herself there. However she gave excellent service and I asked her name so I can commend her. Have gone back multiple times to get my contact prescription correct. Each time I haVe gone there is all new staff at the front office and a different doctor. I went three doctor's at least twice each and none of them can seem to get my prescription correct. I called several times to order a box of contact with most recent contact script and about a month later I still have no contacts. Called 8-8-14 and spoke to "Manager" who stated she would call me back at 5:30. Ten days later no call back from her. I called again this morning and was told once again that the manager would call be back in 20 minutes. Well it's now been over 30 minutes and still no call back. Really!
