I have been waiting for 9 months to have a cable buried in my back yard but no one from Optimum will come do their job. Last February an Optimum tech asked for access to the box in our backyard to turn on service for someone nearby. Over the next few days several different techs came saying the signal was bad. The last guy said he would need to run a "TEMPORARY" cable from the box 2 houses down from ours. He said a crew that buries lines would come in the next 2 weeks or so. Never happened! I tried calling their customer service line but we do not have an account as we use Tachus so they said they can not help me. I went to the office in Kingwood, the ladies were nice and said they would let the technicians on site know. That was back in April! I realize that several utility lines are in our back yard and we are ok with repair techs needing to get to the box in our back yard but I don't think I should have to have an ugly orange cable in my yard. I have to be careful when mowing the lawn and my dog has tried to eat the cable once. I would never recommend Optimum. read more

Their customer service feels like a maze built specifically to break your spirit. To make things even worse, they offered me a "free mobile service." I never received a phone, never activated anything--yet they still automatically charged my card without my consent. When I tried fixing the issue, I was met with endless runarounds, scripted excuses, and zero accountability. After reaching my limit, I attempted to cancel the service. That turned into hours of being bounced between representatives who refused to cancel, tried pushing promotions I didn't want, and--when I declined--conveniently dropped the call, forcing me to start the entire process again. we've been with this company for 20 years. They were seabridge spectrum now optimum all of a sudden we can't seem to get cable Internet and phone all connected with them. They fix it and within a few hours nothing gos out again then we are told we have to wait till Thursday when a technician is in our area. We've gone through this for three weeks now today is Monday. The cable went out on Friday and we have to wait till the following Thursday and they'll fix it. Rates continuously increased and it literally took me 4 phone calls (over 2 hours) and a trip up to the location to return my equipment to close my account. Optimum is by far the worst telecommunications company I've ever worked with. I am now 69 years old, and was once a telecommunications technician. My job was to maintain a large telecommunications network across much of the western US. From Texas to Utah to California to Washington and more. I've dealt with more telecommunication companies than I can remember. Diagnosing various issues across multiple networks, and resolving them as quickly and efficiently as possible. Never before have I encountered the level of incompetence (stupidity?) as I have over the past five years dealing with Altice/Optimum/Suddenlink. (i.e. Altice and its subsidiaries). Optimum trains their personnel to placate their customers' issues by any means necessary. Lie to them, insult them, blame them, verbally coddle them - whatever it takes. We have been with Optimum Internet for about a year now and this is the most unstable service I have had in the past decade. Internet outages of 1-5 minutes 7-15 times daily. Outages of 2-10 hours twice weekly on average. The apartment complex we reside in has required all tenants to sign up with Optimum. They are currently searching for another provider due to frequent daily outages impacting their business. We are being told that we will have other options soon (other providers expanding their business). It can't happen soon enough!!! We pay for 1Tb internet service but all speed tests run between 1/4 to 1/2 Tb. The day they installed we were running .8 Tb but it dropped by the end of the day and never improved back to the original speed. If you have options, go with a competitor. They are cheap but deliver a horrible product in my opinion. We are in the Kingwood area as well. read more

Optimum has been exceptional with really good speed and price... until now. last month I was charged for a HBO MAX subscription through Optimum and I already had my own separate account, and was not advised of the change. I had the customer service cancel MAX going forward and was not granted a refund. then the exact next month I was charged AGAIN for HBO and AGAIN denied a refund despite having canceled it one month prior... Okay, I know Optimum, formerly Suddenlink has had a bad rap for many years, here to confirm that since this is our third time returning to Kingwood but I must share this. For about a week we were having issues with our television reception. We were getting pixels and bars on many cable channels, voice and sound cutoffs, and blank screens that would say channel is not available. I was not looking forward to calling Optimum call Center but did utilizing the chat. Not sure where I was calling these days but the poor guy worked with me for about 1.5 hours before we got disconnected or the line dropped off. I had taken photos of my issues however they would not upload. Last resort was to go to the Optimum office on West Lake Houston Drive here in Kingwood, Tx. Okay, they had about five folks there and only one customer so I was taken care of right away. The lady met me right away before I could even reach her desk and asked if she could help. I explained my experience with the call center and they young man on the phone who did everything to take care of my issues remotely, showed her the photos I had taken of my tv, and asked for help. She went to her desk pulled up my account and said someone would be at my home between 2 and 5. Wow that's fast. The technician called and showed up just before 5:00 p.m. His name was Mark. He worked on the tv, channel tv box and would not give up until he got it fixed. You know what, he did just that, he Fixed It. Mark was exceptional, and what was great was he loved our black lab and our ab could tell Mark loved her. So long story short, I had to provide a great if not exceptional review for Optimum. The chat guy was great, the lady at the office was great, and Mark was as great if not exceptional. Job well done. Thank You. read more

If you're moving to an area around Houston Tx with Optimum as the only service provider to that address and internet is a big factor, pass on that address and find another place. I pay for a gig speed and I can't even get 100mbps (for those who don't know a gig is 1,000mbps). Normally, I don't write any bad reviews, but I had the worst experience with Optimum and wanted to share with everyone. They contacted me to convert my home internet service to fiber, however, after two months with multiple appointments, still has not been completed. I lost two days of work, nothing was done. Instead, they cut off my TV service and emailed me a new bill informing me my service upgrade has been completed with an increased invoice amount. I am extremely frustrated. From the start we had daily intermittent outages. This is an ISP, and it did not provide good internet service, so that alone is really enough for a poor preview and low star rating. But there is more. Technical support did not know what a DNS server is, and would not or could not help me change mine (the router software is cloud based and the web interface would time out every time I tried to change it myself). With two people in the house working from home, the outages were not acceptable, so we canceled and moved to fiberoptic internet. The cancelation process was not smooth or easy. Their phone customer service is about as bad as their technical support and their internet service. I also went in-person to return my router, and literally waited for over an hour, only to be told by a laughing customer service person, "why did you wait so long? You could have just dropped it off and left." I didn't know I could just drop it off and leave. But since I was waiting over an hour, and for most of that time I was literally the only person in line, standing there holding a router, why didn't any of the employees in the store think to tell me I could drop it off without waiting? I got no answer to that question. Word of advice: they have a 60 day money-back guaranty if you are not satisfied with your service and you cancel. HOWEVER, telling them you are unhappy with the internet connection, the technical support, and the customer service, and then canceling, is not enough to automatically trigger that money back! You have to specifically tell them "I am unsatisfied and I want my money back," and then be lucky enough to have someone who knows what you mean, is able to do it, and cares enough to actually follow through with doing it. I got a quote in the beginning of July, 2024 for a new Year's contract to match the previous year. The end of July, 2024 I saw à $40.00 rate hike for Aug. 2024. When I called Optimum and talked to Customer service the Agent said he can't see anywhere that my new contract was done. The previous Customer service Agent just told me what he thought I wanted to hear to get me off the phone.
