Optimum has the worst customer service in the world! They were supposed to connect my service after a move in the same city & stood me up. Then they sent me a contractor who refused to see where the feed line was & didn't know what he was doing. Then it took me 3 more days & a complaint to a manager for them to send a real cable guy who said it was an easy fix! It was 6 days without cable, phone or internet service! In addition, they gave me a new account instead of a continuation of the old account AND a NEW phone number that they were NOT authorized to do! I have had other issues in the past with horrible customer service...Frontier is looking better & better! read more

If I had any other way to get internet at my apartment, I would be rid of Optimum as quickly as I could! They are HORRIBLE. I have never had such bad customer service in all my life. Their tech support people are completely ill-equipped. You can tell that they are reading from a manual because they say things word-for-word and do not skip steps even if you tell them things like, "I know the batteries are good in the remote, because the TV still turns on & off." I had five different tech support folks make me go through the steps of taking the batteries in and out of the remote to "check them and make sure it's not an issue with the batteries." Like I said, completely ill-equipped. There was ONE person who was able to help me, after about three hours of various "tech support" conversations over a couple of days. She gave simple instructions to re-sync the remote to the cable box. I asked her why these instructions are not available online for customers, and she could only confirm that they are not online. If you don't want customers to be able to help themselves, then at least make sure that your "tech support" employees are actually capable of providing tech support! One of these idiots even told me that I was going to have to drive down to an optimum store (which is 25 miles away, btw) to get a new remote -- and he had not even determined that the remote was the issue. I've been a customer for over 25 years and have had some good and many not so good experiences with this company. On my last visit, I wanted to get rid of most of my services because my rates would go up each year and I'd have to call to try get them to lower the bill. It was something I dreaded, as they seem, in my opinion, to be less than honest in how they do business. This is based on many of my personal experiences mostly with phone support staff trying to "negotiate" rates. I grew tired of the threat that all my other services would increase if I dropped one of the others. So the person at the Norwalk office was nice enough and helped me drop all but my Internet service. He told me that my next bill would be $75 before taxes. So when my new bill for $135 came, I was surprised. I put it off calling them until I had a day off and could put in the wait time that inevitably comes with calling Optimum. This ended up being a four days before the bill was due. The guy on the phone couldn't figure out what I was talking about for quite some time (30+ minutes?) I had saved the receipt from the equipment return dated 12/31. The new bill was for 1/1-1/31. He finally told me what amount was actually due (half the amount) and I paid it from my bank the next day. On my next bill there was a $10 late fee. When I called today to ask that it be removed I could barely understand the woman on the phone. She sounded like she was calling from the International Space Station. There was so much static and noise. I was in my house so it wasn't on my end. She explained that because I paid the bill late (two days BEFORE it was due) she could not take the charge off. She did not want me to talk to her supervisor when I asked. I had one other late charge a few months earlier due to the fact that I was considering canceling most of my services and also because it seemed that Optimum was charging me for a month in advance (a practice I still don't understand.) She felt very confident that I indeed needed to be punished for this, even though I've faithfully paid my bill on time for 25 years, for services I rarely used. Ask yourself if you need hundreds of useless channels, mind numbing programming and ads, phones that don't work in power failures and mysterious fees that just keep growing in number each year. Is it really worth it? I say, no. Update- After posting this review on Google, I got a message asking me to get in touch with customer service. The woman I spoke to was very pleasant but said she could not remove the late fee. She did find though after looking at my payment history that they had overcharged me by $10 (the same price as the late fee.) What a coincidence! Then I discovered that they had added a higher level of service without my knowledge. Guess what the additional monthly fee is? That's right! $10! read more

I've been an Optimum cust. for over 25 yrs. Used to have incredible reliability and cust. service. Since Altice took them over they have been horrible, the worst. Over 2 hours on hold for cust svc where it used to take minutes. The new support staff are rude and argumentative and of little help. I figure for the astronomical rates they charge they should be much better. Unfortunately they hold a monopoly on broadband in my area. They have an agreement with Comcast so as not to cover each others territory. Now there is an outage caused by a storm and I have no faith in them getting service back anytime soon. argh! read more

I cancelled my deceased father's service on 4/3/20. At that point we had paid for service in advance. I have tried calling Optimum over 10 times trying to get an answer as to why I wasn't seeing a refund. The Customer Service folks seemed to be making it up as they went along. One woman even pretended to be typing on a keyboard while she had me wait on the phone. At least 4 times I asked to speak to a supervisor to escalate towards an answer and each time they flat out refused to allow that. I later found out that Optimum is "entitled" to keep any money for service not used after cancellation because "that is their policy." What a joke - I would never, ever think of doing business with them again. read more

I have been an optimum customer for about 15 years. I called optimum to inquire why my bill had gone up $20 without prior notice. The recording said the wait time was long, so I opted for a call back. I received a callback from an optimum customer service representative about 30 minutes later. I could barely understand the woman through her thick accent. Anyway, apparently Optimum, without ANY prior notice, during a PANDEMIC raised my bill. I was very upset, and she said she would transfer me to a supervisor who could possibly adjust the bill. She did transfer my call and I heard a recording instructing me to wait. Guess what? I waited for THREE, yes, THREE hours for a supervisor, who, by the way, turned out to be another customer service rep and, in fact, informed me that THERE ARE NO supervisors at Optimum. And my bill? Nope. Nothing can be done. Of course, the rep doesn't even know who's in charge at Optimum. What a sad, unethical operation. The high ups should be fired and there should be a total reorganization. How about this? The higher-ups should breakdown their salaries and distribute it among employees as pay (employees will definitely earn way more money then they earn now!) and the management should make $11 an hour, but, then again, they aren't even worth that wage. It's little wonder why Optimum receives two-star ratings at best. Optimum deserve a zero star rating. Obviously, even though it's one big hassle, I'll be switching companies. I don't even like Frontier, but what other choice is there in my area? I wish another GOOD cable company comes along. I'm not looking for great, just a decent company. read more

The worst. Plain and simple. I used to have the triple play but dropped cable. I called recently to add it back but I was put on hold for an hour. I'm a customer that for some reason wants another service from them and I was put on hold for an hour! Just terrible. I'm a new customer who signed up for fiber internet. Optimum no showed for 4 out of 5 appointments over six weeks, and ultimately gave me cable internet. I haven't received any of the $80 no-show fees as credits that they charge customers who aren't home at the time of their appointment, and I've lost countless hours on the phone. We've been locked in an unvirtuous circle where the customer schedules an appt, the company fails to show, the employees of the company have no answers nor accountability, managers are nonresponsive, and the issue continues unresolved. This month's excuse is that the fiber in the street is damaged, which is an odd claim since they haven't been here since December. At least they are consistent in also no showing for street repairs. It blows my mind that a company can operate like this in 2022. They have tried to upsell me twice for mobile, which is comedic since they can't, or won't, provide the service I requested and am paying for. Customer service is the absolute worst. Unfortunately, they currently seem to have a monopoly on high-speed internet in Fairfield County. read more

So this is an update on 08/24.2020 about my senior citizens family member terrible Optimum Vist,Since Optimum tech would not wear boot coverings and could not ask question about the install,And Optimum would not get another tech out to the home for a unheard amout of time we cancelled the install and ask for a refund of $150 back,With Optimum its good to check and to call the credit card company,Because they didnt canceled the install ,they made another appointment without tell us for sept 21 2020,And would not port the number back to frontier,So after another 25 calls to optimum with no help but they sure are told to sell there new cell phone plan on every call,I had frontier port the number back request,We will see if that works,Really Optimum is this how you try to fool seniors citizens in there 80's into keeping your service,All you optimum worker who didnt help me today,Kama right back to you !!!!! read more
