I returned a dead cable box to the Roslyn store and picked up a new working box 2 months ago. Despite the fact that I was given a receipt upon returning the box, I keep receiving phone messages and postcards indicating the box was not returned. At 8:45pm we received a call for the technician indicating that he would not be able to come and our only option was to allow him to come out two days later. Just moved into the Optimum area. I thought Spectrum was bad, Optimum really sucks. 1st they offer no legible, printed channel guide so you have no idea what's HD an what isn't. You are left to deal with their word and 2nd, they don't seem to be too interested in doing anything more than telling you to reboot your system which is the first thing anyone does when they have a cable issue. 3rd, in order to get the same level of performance and customer service that I had with Spectrum, I'd have to spend $10.00 per month even though i'm supposed to be getting comparable service. read more

DO NOT go with Optimum. I lost my DVR service on two of my cable boxes for 4 days. Finally I called and they had to reset the box remotely. I asked for a credit to due losing service for something that I paid for which is CABLE SERVICE and they denied me. Why? They said I am currently not being charged for the DVR's due to a promo so technically I can't get a credit on something I'm not paying for. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I said I was unable to use a service "cable", that I'm paying for and they got all nasty saying I"m not paying for that specific equipment. Talk about nickle and diming your customers. Put such a sour taste in my mouth I"m leaving them them the minute I get a chance to call FRONTIER!!!! They are so much better! I'll take my business to Verizon. I am disgusted with the horrific service with Optimum. Calling three times, to secure my technician being at my business between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, being told I will get a call back multiple times, and never receiving this. Then walking out of my business at almost 6:00pm and THEN the technician shows up, and they won't even get me an appointment this week to compensate this technicians awful service! That's insane! Trashed my home media enclosure and still charged me $80 for the visit event though the tech told me their would be NO CHARGE. That's why I wasn't to aggravated at the end of the visit. But 20min later a charge of $80 came through. They wouldn't budge on the removal of that fee. So I paid $80 for what looks like a 3 year old "fixed it". By fixed I mean it works enough until I actually get the parts and fix it for real. Considering their is static in the phone line now do to a crappy twist job of wires. Very good customer service. Was with Verizon FIOS for 10 years. My last year with Verizon was the worst. One hour hold time, and average hold time 20 minutes vs Optimum 2 minutes wait time. Optimum employees fixed my problems with poor internet and TV service vs Verizon that came for less than 2 hours and did nothing to fix the problem. Verizon refused to give proper credit, and most employees have very little authority to do any real credit unless they can sign you up for another two years and give you a credit over 24 months. Hey no surprise here. Very low value for the $. Customer service is usually pretty though (that's what the start is for). A couple of weeks ago, my bill increased $30, from $120 to $150. Called to drop everything but my internet and was told it would result in nominal savings. The internet only teaser rates are only for new subscribers. But the customer service rep was able to extend a discount to me, at least to keep my rate at $120/mo. At least for one month. The following month resulted in an increase of 16.95/mo for multiroom dvr, a feature I have never used. So glad net neutrality was repealed, the telecom carriers will be raising the daylights out of subscriber rates. Bottom line is municipal internet is the way to go. read more

The Incompetence here is like a parody of modern-day inefficiencies. We organized our move around their 2-5 time window for setting up service, at 5, they called to say they would definitely arrive by 6, at 6 they said 7, etc. until 10pm when they stopped answering our calls and never arrived. Then did not show up for the rescheduled appointment, then arrived late for the THIRD appointment. The technician was unpleasant and clearly did not care- vaguely connecting one room of our house with WiFi and leaving us to plug in the extenders without instructions. By the time he left we had no WiFi and, somehow, lost our landline as well. Attempts to complain to a supervisor require a few steps: you call and wait on hold for a salesperson, tell them the complaint, they will fill out a form, someone will read said form in 72 hrs. I can only assume this delay is based on their extensive backlog of complaints. I would advise you to book an appointment a week before you need it and follow up with a separate AV company for the following day to correct any issues. read more

My family have been customers of Optimum/Cablevision/Altice for over 20 years and I've about had it with this service. We currently pay for 150+ megabit service, yet, every night between 6-10pm our internet service slows down to less than 1% of the speeds we are subscribed to which indicates that our connection is being shared with others in our locale. Our service has gone down every day this week for 1-12 hours each time. I am trying to run a business out of my home and service interruptions are costing me thousands of dollars! Because I have my phone tied to my modem, that means my phone service is down as well. Meaning that should something happen to my 90 year old grandmother, she can't reach out to anyone using the house phone nor can anyone call the house to check in on her. After being on the phone for hours today explaining the situation and trying to reason with technical/customer support, I am extremely disappointed that despite being a customer for so long it didn't seem like optimum was willing to go above and beyond about my situation, deferring to a technician visit 3 days from now which would bring my total to almost 1 full week of no internet or phone. My disappointment is even further amplified by the $6 credit I was offered for the service interruptions (my bill is almost $200 a month!). This barely covers the cost of the money I've lost because I cannot work without internet (there is no optimum hotspot near my house) and the money my family has lost adjusting schedules to ensure my grandma isn't left alone. I'm very disappointed and highly encourage anyone to seek service elsewhere. read more

The absolute worst experience I have ever had with any company ever. They were supposed to put me on seasonal hold instead they canceled my service put me in collections. Trying to get a service technician out was nearly impossible. When they finally did come the man told me that I should get Apple TV and not pay for their boxes to be rented. Then he left saying he can't connect I have to call and they'll connect my service and activate it. The technician just didn't feel like doing the work told me that he couldn't do it and left. A giant step backwards in telecommunications. Remember when you'd move and change your phone number, the phone company would 'push' calls to your new number? Or provide a recording of your new number? Yeah...well, Optimum doesn't do that. And it takes a maze of automated phone detours to get to the right person, and then a few others to understand what you're talking about. Customer service is disappointing. Also, it's expensive. And if you cancel mid-billing cycle, you'll be billed for the entire cycle. Let's review: expensive, bad/uninformed customer service, customer un-friendly. And what they've done to the local news - a major reason to subscribe to Optimum - has become atrocious under new ownership. Never thought I'd root for the Dolans to be owners again. Why can't I give no stars? Optimum you idiots! You cut my cable on Christmas Eve thinking you cut my Neighbors line. I called up and you said it would be on in an hour. So I waited and nothing. I called back and billing was gone for the holiday. I called Christmas Day and got a woman who I guess is there just to answer phones and she said the earliest they could fix their own mistake was next Monday December 31st. A week later. My son received two video games that he was planning on playing with friends during their week off. So hos friends were able to play and my son had to sit with no games, no tv, no interent connection at all. Somehow we were a le to connect to optimums WiFi that you can use on your phone when your out. I was able to get his game running!!! For about 1/2 an hour. That's when Optimum cut that connection too. Again all during the holidays, their mistake and to make it worse my neighbour who's service was suppose to be cut had all services all week and we could see through their window everything they were doing. Playing, games, watching movies etc. This was the worst Holiday ever for my kids. If they offered full service all pay per view for life with the highest internet speed I'd spit in there face. Next they asked Us to return the box because they closed our account again because of another mistake of rather then schedule Us to be reconnected they put it in as cancel service. Another call, they said I'd have to speak to sales. At this point I'm looking for cameras? Where are they and who's going to jump out and say this is all a prank! Sales said because we canceled, LMFAO!!! WE'd have to pay to have it reinstalled. I asked the person in sales to please give me a second, then when I got back on I asked her to listen as I threw the Altice box out down into the driveway. I asked if she heard that and I said that was an Altice box that was left at my home. She said I'd have to pay for it and I said how??? You just said I don't ha e an account with optimum, all on tape. Optimum requires you to return equipment to the store. Each visit to the store requires significant time as the customer service representatives have personal conversations with each other and customers while there's a long line of customers waiting to be helped. There's signs everywhere explaining not to place equipment on tables while waiting for what seems like an eternity. Stay away from this company at all costs. If Fios is available it's a no brainer for better speeds and prices. Also returning hardware with Verizon is as simple as mailing in for free with a prepaid label. Two days ago we called optimum due to no internet. They troubleshot over the phone and told us we needed to have someone come to the house. It was scheduled for two days later. I rely on my computer for my business. I couldn't spare the two days so in the interim, my son checked it out. I drove all the way to cablevision, exchanged the router, my son attempted to replace it, was unsuccessful. Cable came the next evening, corrected a couple of things and charged me $85.00 for the visit. We were never informed of this disgusting fee to service their own equipment. Turned out the visit was under 10 minutes and required a wire exchange. When I called the billing department the next day I was basically told too bad...disgusting pigs. I am waiting for another service to step up and stop taking advantage of their customers read more

Absolutely the worst service I have ever dealt with in my life. We have been without any phone, internet and WiFi for TWO MONTHS. Every time we call we have to go through the most awful phone system to finally get someone on the phone that ultimately sends the wrong technician here that cannot fix the problem. We have taken off from work. Waited for "supervises" that never call back. Are you kidding me. The rest of us would be fired if this was the way we operated. After all of this, we have still been billed the last two months and those phone calls are equally unsatisfactory as someone tells us " the system only allows for a $54 credit" when we auto payed $232.
