Double billing customers even after official cancellation of services at one location and swapping to a new location... even after multiple calls emails with various complaints THEY STILL ADAMANTLY HAVE IT INCORRECT in their favor. I have been an Optimum customer for over 20 years. We were paying $289/month for rental fees (router, cable box) to get cable TV, internet and a landline we never used. After spending 45 minutes on hold, I finally reached someone to discuss my package and got disconnected twice. I canceled Optimum last week. Started Verizon Fios ($64/month) and YouTube TV ($65/month). The service from Verizon has been outstanding. The installation was professional and simple. The Verizon Fios fiber-optic network is much faster and more reliable than cable. So glad we cut the cable tv cord and cancelled Optimum. read more

This company has set up obstacles to terminating service. It's insane. Three times I was asked if want to keep the service I already transferred before I could disconnect my old service. Optimum just completed my migration from cable to fiber for internet and tv. I have a big 100+ year old house with wire lathe and plaster walls. Wifi signals do not penetrate these walls. Optimum came in to my home and figured out what had to be done and they made it happen. My WiFi signal has never been this fast and the coverage is perfect. They have fully exceeded my expectations. Terrible internet service. I cancelled my service in late Feb because I moved. They continued to charge me until June even though I cancelled in Feb and called customer service several times because I received a bill a month later. Customer service said to disregard issue is taken care of, which was not true. I continued to get billed and now it's in collections. I cancelled Feb, enquirer about bill and reminded them I cancelled in March and continue to try and dispute bill even now. It is suppose to be under investigation and Optimum never followed up. We canceled our services due to moving. I cannot tell you how infuriating the process has been. We have been called over 15 times since we canceled 5 days ago. We have explained endless times that we do not have a residence at the moment to even have a television service and yet without fail we continue to get accosted and harrassed by the "retention" department. Years of being a customer and cannot say enough BAD things about OPTIMUM. A simple call to update a credit card for auto billing turned my stomach. AWFUL. One person cannot accept this change for privacy reasons. been with them for 5 years and change, out those 5 years I had poor internet for 4 years, every time I call it's an automated its an issue to get an agent to speak to, and they do the same thing every time, tell me restart my router, a technician came by and didn't even check the ethernet cable to see if It had any shorts, he stayed for no more than 5 min, and looked at me and told me he's not interested In going back on the ladder because it's too hot outside, his advice was paying for a new router from optimum, first off I had to purchase my own router because theirs was terrible, no way I'm spending a penny more with these thieves, every year I get an email stating there would be a bill increase due to them the increase happened because they claim they put new wires around the state for better WiFi. This is going to be my rant because I am trying to be objective but there is no possible way. I called Optimum three months ago because my neighbor left Verizon and switched. He got a great deal from Optimum because he is considered a new customer. When we're talking I started thinking why am I the loyal customer not afforded the same rate and service? Oh they have my money so now I'm a number on the shelf ok, customer service, hardly. I called and got a representative that I could hard speak to because of a language barrier. I know this may sound harsh but I am tired of listening to if you would like assistance in Spanish please press 1. Where is the I would like a representative that speaks English please 2? That leads into probably a reason that my service was never upgraded. Long story short I agreed to keep the service for more channels and faster internet. For a slightly lower bill. Good deal? So, I thought. I went away to an Army school for four weeks and noticed while FaceTiming my girls that the service was horrible. My wife would have to such off the WiFi on her phone to get a good signal. That is unacceptable! Why pay for upgraded service you have to turn off in order for it to work. The real issue was that the internet was never upgraded only the tv channels. I spoke to a representative today, we'll barely because of that language barrier yet again. The cards are from them telling me that I need to install them but they do not come with instructions to install, they come with a number they have you call. OK, no problem...Now all of a sudden, there is a $4.95 "modem fee" AND $5 for something else. for three months I was charged $65.33, and now this month it went up to $70.33. Their Salesmen have been going door to door in my area. This one guy has came back to my house 3 times already in the past week. Today (the third time) he was waiting for me as I pulled into my driveway after coming home from work. Its basically harassment and disturbance at this point. If I could give negative stars I would. Contacted Optimum three times to order an upgraded modem, as they advertise. Each time I was told they would send it to me and I would receive it in 5-7 business days. Waited at least 10 days each time to receive nothing and contact the company again. Finally told that I had to go to the Optimum store to pick up the modem because they didn't have any to mail out. They never answer their customer service phones so you can speak with a person. Scripted bots are a pain in the ass and nothing is accomplished. Can only get a response through chat with someone, who knows where in the world, who also just follows an irrelevant script.
