I am very disappointed with the level of service I received at this office, particularly from Optometrist Ye. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. During my phone conversation, I found her demeanor to be rude, impatient, and unprofessional. When I asked questions or expressed concerns about my eye health, I did not feel heard or respected. Instead of taking the time to explain or discuss options, she appeared dismissive and irritated whenever there was any disagreement. As a patient, I believe it is completely reasonable to ask questions and participate in decisions regarding my own health. I also felt that the focus was more on financial aspects than on patient care. Eye health is important, and patients should feel that their well-being is the top priority--not sales or additional charges. A successful healthcare practice requires not only technical skill but also strong communication, empathy, and professionalism. Customer service and patient relationships are essential in any medical setting. I truly believe that additional training in patient communication and customer care would greatly benefit this practice. Based on my experience, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. I hope the office reflects on this feedback and makes improvements for the sake of future patients. I am very nearsighted and have astigmatism - so I've been to a fair number of optometrists over the years. I can say without hesitation that Dr Annie Yeh and her staff have provided me with the very best eye care experience I've ever had! Dr Annie is so knowledgeable and she shares her wisdom so patiently and kindly. She's just a joy to work with . I came in for an annual exam to renew my contact lens rx, and was surprised to learn I have cataracts in both eyes. I will have surgery for that but first needed to pass my vision test for my DL renewal . Dr Yeh spent a ton of time and effort to get my prescription just right - she was more thorough than any eye care professional I've seen previously - that includes ophthalmologists, too. She made time for me and never seemed rushed despite how busy her schedule is. Her staff is awesome - they always greet me by name and with a sincere smile , and they're all efficient and helpful too. I'm not one to gush but omg I LOVE Optimus and I highly recommend Dr Yeh! read more

The doctor was fine but didn't seem as thorough as my usual options as she didn't ask many questions and sped through my appointment. The employees at the front desk who help you order glasses are not helpful and do not not have your best interests in mind. They failed to present the itemized bill before ordering my glasses and ruthlessly added on features that were unnecessary. I spent nearly half an hour waiting for them to tinker with their system to get my glasses order in and when they couldn't figure out how to use their own system after so long, they sent me home, assuring me the invoice would come later. Don't like their customer service and their overall service went down the hill. I'm usually a carefree person who goes to see the optometrist once a year because it's covered by my insurance, so I come here once a year. I was here before they changed their office and when it was Nguyen and Yeh working together. The office has changed since where they had a new make over, Nguyen no longer works there and the front desk person is horrible. Now, I don't ask for much. I usually go in for my routine eye exam and have purchased sunglasses, eye glasses and contact lenses. However, this time, this one time which was today as I was picking up my eye glasses, I had asked if the doctor can see my right eye because I had a tear cornea about 3 weeks ago (I was in a different state, paid $150 out of pocket to see a doctor and my baby had kicked me in the eye when changing diaper). The healing went all right, no side effects, no blurred vision and no pain, however I just want to see a doctor for a minute to see if it completely healed, that's all. I had a routine exam with them last month, so I don't need a full eye exam. The front desk receptionist then proceeded to tell me, it's not part of my vision insurance and that this is a medical need and if I want to be seen by the optometrist I'd have to pay out of pocket. I was mind blown. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She didn't even ask the optometrist if they could have a minute to check up on me. Now here she goes stating, time from the doctor is valuable and it costs money and I'm here voicing my opinion stating I've been coming here and I just need a minute and there's clearly a lack of customer service. If that's how they operate, I won't be coming here. I like a place that's friendly and courteous and this place sounds like it's greedy, all they want is my money for their time which it isn't a place for me. I feel the current front desk receptionist has a chip on her shoulder, as if I owe her something. She doesn't have an approachable manner. This is a new year (writing this the first week of January), so maybe it's time for me to look for a new optometrist place. read more

5 star service from start to finish. My eyesight has been pretty gnarly for a while now. I just moved back to San Jose, so started my search for a place to get my eyes tested. Optimus Vision came up as an option that was very close to my place. When I saw the great Yelp reviews I called to make an appt. I received a text back. They prefer text communication, which I think is super convenient. I was also able to get in for an appt that same day. I needed an authorization for a new eye exam this year and the lady (I don't remember her name :( ) was able to secure it within minutes. She also was great helping me choose frames that fit my face. The office is clean and organized, and the equipment is state of the art. I had tests run that I've never had done before. It was cool to see some of the great vision technology that they have these days. Dr Yeh and her asst were both very friendly. They explained everything they were doing. Dr Yeh took her time examining my eyes and was gentle and thorough. I felt like I was in good hands at Optimus Vision. I'm looking forward to getting the glasses that were ordered for me. Today I picked up my new eyeglasses, the services all good, they have new receptionist but the services always sweet. Appointment is very easy to make on-line. Dr. Yeh even personally helped me to adjust the frame on plastic parts, metal parts and both nose pad. that is overwhelmed services. The vision measurement is perfect, two years ago already perfect, since i am 2 years older and vision had some minor change, I am so happy to get a new pair of eyeglasses here, how can I express my thankfulness! My bi-focal line is perfect, very happy to share my happiness! When I driving home, I can feel and tell that my world is back to so clear and beautiful. Optimus is super good!! I received very good care here. The only thing I would recommend is if you haven't gotten your eyes checked ever or in a few years you should opt for dilation because it's a more thorough way to check your vision. Sorry I can't explain further but here's my story: I paid the $40 for the new machine to take pictures of my eyeballs so I wouldn't have to get dilated. Was diagnosed with myopia. Got my glasses and contacted them because my vision was going blurry from time to time with them. Went back in and got dilated to discover I had pseudomyopia and the corrective action was to wear glasses for up close work and do eye exercises to regain distance vision. Also need drops for MGD. Didn't like the transitions I got because they were too dark on cloudy or rainy days and they gave me a store credit which is much better than nothing for a product I simply didn't groove with. They are a very busy office if that influences your decision in one way or another. Dr. Yeh was very thorough and attentive and Victor was very respectful and good at adjusting the glasses. read more

Dr. Annie Yeh has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful over the years. She has performed meibomian gland expressions that relieved my dry eyes on a few occasions and has provided advisement on home treatment methods and preventative maintenance. I have never encountered an optometrist that has even mentioned expressions as a possibility in the past. Dr. Annie Yeh is also very well versed in glaucoma symptoms. She is currently testing for low tension glaucoma due to my family history and OCT results and is working on getting a prescription for an in home tonometer. Her staff has also been very helpful in filling my prescription glasses. I was extremely impressed with their willingness and ability to work with me on getting prescription sunglasses with polarized lenses where the polarization direction matched exactly to the direction of the polarization film I had applied to my glasses. Overall the help I have gotten from Dr. Yeh and her staff has been atypical and above and beyond what I would expect from the average optometrist's office. read more

As perfect or maybe even more great than it could've gone! I was afraid of visiting a new optometrist post-grad after getting used to the one in my college-town but all my fears have now subsided. :-) Dr. Nguyen was so amicable, approachable, and amazingly knowledgable. She answered all my questions with an understanding and open attitude, so much so that I didn't ever feel too afraid or too shy to raise up any concerns. It felt like I was addressing my concerns to a friend, rather than someone I've never met before. Her cheerful demeanor and professionalism was so fresh and appreciated, and now I have no more worries about finding a new optometrist. Thankfully, I've found the one and that's Dr. Nguyen! She helped me go through my options for contacts, glasses, etc. and was never pushy or overbearing. She provided me all the possible options available to me and reminded me that I can always come to Optimus for help whenever I need. It was easy to make an appointment without waiting a million years like some other offices do. They were not only able to make an appointment in a swift timeframe, but were also able to accommodate to my schedule. I think that's really an underrated quality about places nowadays. So cheers! I had an awesome appointment with Dr. Nguyen: she was on time, she's super smart, has a great sense of humor, and does a thorough job explaining how (poor in my case) your vision is. She was also very fast, which I really appreciate. She moved me quickly through the exam, and trying new contacts. I would definitely come back to see her. My only advice would be to try to get the front desk staff to be a little warmer. I was greeted by name when I came in, but was then pretty dismissively given an iPad to do my pre-opp paperwork, and just generally didn't get any warm fuzzies. Given how awesome the doctors are (I've also had a great appointment in the past with Dr. Yeh), it is surprising that the front desk staff doesn't provide the same level of service. read more

I'm new to the area so I was nervous about having to find a new optometrist (especially during COVID). I'm so glad I chose Optimus! As a millenial, I was happy with the seamless process of booking an appointment online and communicating with the office through text message or email. Dr. Nguyen was extremely nice and actually took the time to explain what she was doing. I've had a lot of optometrists over the years and she was the first one to actually make me feel comfortable enough to ask questions about my vision. She also helped to explain my eye insurance benefits so I could maximize price efficiency. The staff is also great. Been a patron for about 6+ years now, can't complain. They're efficient, friendly, accommodating, and professional. They are increasingly augmenting their technological applications of customer management, for better or worse. Appointment scheduling is internet-based, but for some reason, only internet-based. I couldn't get an appointment scheduled over the phone. I suppose there were some other health questions that are streamlined by just having the patient fill it out online. The doctor(s) have always had a good bedside manner, and will answer any questions you have. The last doctor I saw was new (reported to my previous doctor), but was very friendly, and had very good explanations for all of my questions. Excellent service! Where is the 10 star rating here. Everyone here is so sweet and caring. I found this place courtesy of VSP and it was the best decision I ever made. If you have a health care plan that is not Kaiser they will take you in and get you on your way. My mum needed vision care because she was seeing floaters and had trouble seeing. Doctor Yeh got straight to work to hear the issues my mum was having. She heard every word said by my mum and addressed it is a professional manner. Who knew service like this could be found in Santa Clara County. The facilities are really cool too, you can get your eyes checked, lens set and also utilize other healthcare services if you have an appointment with another person who works in the business park. Poor customer service, no regard for customer satisfaction, they try to upsell you items you don't need! After asking for the upgraded lenses I was sold on to be replaced in my new frames, they messes them up again and I still do not have a pair of glasses I am happy with. To top it off I am out $$ because they sold me on lens upgrades and when I was unsatisfied and had the lenses replaced, cheaper without the upgrades I was told there would be no refund of the difference. Details below: I am very unsatisfied with my experience at Optimus. I felt sort of sold into getting the blue light reflective and the new anti-fatigue lenses. When I received my glasses I was not happy with either add on. The blue light is awful! It reflected so badly on my computer and any sort of lighting, very distracting and annoying. I also was not impressed with the anti-fatigue lenses so I asked for them to be fixed and replaced with the same type of lenses I had ordered from them with my previous glasses. I was told since I had not had any issues previously that I could get them fixed and told that I must be really sensitive to the blue light blocking coating. I was assured multiple times that I would be getting the same lenses as my previous glasses. Four and a half weeks later I had my new glasses, however the lenses are not the same, even though I was told again when I picked them up by the gentlemen at the front that they were. They decided to order me the highest level Crizal anti-glare which has a blue tint! Not the same as the actual blue light coating but still has a blue tint to them. The blue tint reflects more than any glasses I've ever had and it's very annoying and distracting. I also do not like how it looks on my computer when I am in video meetings. So here I was told I'd be getting the exact same lens type as my previous glasses (which do not have a blue tint) and the explanation was it's just the "new" anti-glare coating. There are 3 other Crizal anti-glare coatings to choose from that do not reflect blue, yet they chose to make my glasses with the one that does even though my main reason for asking for a replacement was because I didn't like the blue reflection on my lenses! And as stated by them, I am very sensitive to the blue reflection. And to top it off, I ended up taking possession of glasses that were cheaper than the ones I was sold on with the upgrades, so I am out $80 as well. And the process took nearly 2 months between my first pair being made and then the replacement pair. I will not return, I am so disappointed in the lack of regard for customer satisfaction. Also I asked for an actual document with my new frames so I could visually see what was selected on the new ones and compare it to what I was given for the first pair and was denied that, I was only verbally told what the replacement pair costs and what lenses were selected. Now I have to go pay out of pocket again to get new lenses put into my frames so that I can have a new pair of glasses that I am happy with. read more

My 5 star review started with me being super impressed with how they are handling our visions needs during COVID times. They limit the amount of patient appointments to ensure social distancing, have you sign forms via text, confirm via text and when selecting your glasses they give you ample time and space to try them on without feeling rushed or pressured into buying in to things you don't need. The staff was courteous and friendly and so glad they take my insurance!! I didn't get my eye exam here but I hope they continue working with my carrier because they are amazing at what they do and if the staff is this awesome then I know the Doctor(s) must be! Dr. Yeh gave me an incredibly thorough eye exam for my prescription from the standard 'which one is clearer, 1 or 2' to dilating my eyes to look inside, and even putting on a headset to check my optic nerve connection. I went into the office in order to obtain a prescription for a pair of lenses and this was by far one of the most accurate prescriptions I have obtained. I wear contacts at night (CRTs) and so by nature the prescription shifts each day you don't wear it. Dr. Yeh was able to extrapolate and get the perfect prescription for my eyes. In addition, since I'm still relatively young, early 20s - there are still options of doing LASIK or PRK depending on the shape of the cornea. Not only did she clearly explain the benefits of each but also the tradeoffs that can occur. PRK requires a much longer recovery time compared to LASIK. Besides the quality of the exam, the logistics were just as straightforward. I had no trouble getting an appointment time and the price was incredibly reasonable. read more

My wife went last year at their old San Jose location and Optimus charged her for a glaucoma retinal eye scan exam which was an additional charge not covered by VSP but they failed to actually do the exam. When I went in for an exam they gave me a hard-sell to get the scan. I had to go back and get a refund processed. I am finding a new optometrist this year for my exam. read more

We paid 750$ for READING GLASSES!!!! She gave my wife READING GLASSESSSSS!!!!! When all my wife needed was PRESCRIPTION GLASSES. After they were done with her exam, while she was looking for her frames, staff kept harassing her and watching her as if she was going to steal something. Worst place ever, over priced and not good. Thank God she didn't wear the glasses or she would've ruined her eyes with the wrong prescription. We had to go to another place to get the right glasses with the right prescription. read more

Went to Dr. Son Nguyen because i am getting old and no longer could differentiate two dots from one...The exam was quick, the staff help styling me with a spec...It was less stressful and more fun. I hate people fooling around with my eye balls. Optimus Vision works with the insurance (VSP) to take care of most of the bill and work with me for the rest of the bill (HSA). Well, it turns out i need a special lense, coatings,..., and...well of course the most expensive frame ( my husband does not believe this at all...his problems, not mine) Love my specs...Oh and it works both during hot mess YOGA and in the OFFICE. I spent a lot of time reading their policy and completed the paperwork in order to schedule an appointment online. I did not get an email of text confirmation so I called the office to confirm. The receptionist told me that they have a new policy that all patients have to pay $69 for a retinal screening. I said I already see an eye specialist and do not need this service, but she said it is required. I cancelled the appointment. The online policy did not state this policy or I would not spend all my time doing the paperwork and scheduling. This is an unjust policy because doctors should not require patients to agree to services that they do not want or need, AND require them to pay out of pocket for this service. I have gone to other doctors who always offered it, but never required it. It is a form of discrimination to patients who have insurance coverage and cannot afford to pay extra charges out of pocket. I am reporting this office to the BBB. read more
