This place deserves a 0 star rating and I would give one if I could. These guys are rude, unprofessional, and possibly racist. I had the same experience as described by "Edita" in her review. My wife and I stopped in for a simple frame repair question (1 missing screw) and I was told by some lady at the desk to take a seat at the left to speak with a repair person. This guy made absolutely no eye contact with us for what seemed like forever. Instead, he was busy speaking what I think was Persian with a Persian customer while continuing to completely ignore us.When we finally asked how long before we could ask a simple question the guy said in a very condescending tone that it could be another 5 minutes, 20 minutes, and finally that he actually had no idea how long before a repair technician could see us to answer any questions. He then continued speaking with the other customer in a foreign language and we stormed out of the store furious. I wish I could give this place a higher rating because my first two visits were straightforward and the lady I worked with (Raina? I'm foggy on her name, really friendly Pinay) was pleasant and helpful and took plenty of time with me to fit frames. 100% of that star above belongs to her. Unfortunately, her 4-5 star service is entirely obliterated by the worker Ken. I went back recently with my boyfriend for what should have been a simple task. My optometrist (not from here - I will write about Dr. Dao from Costco later - he will not co your Cost) seemed to have messed up my prescription and since he's from out of town, he asked that I go back to Optometrics just to ensure there was no mistake on the lens maker's part. If all was kosher, Optometrics just needed to call Dr. Dao and verify they made the lenses correctly. We'll take it from there. sigh. Apparently we walked into a whipping party. This bugger Ken barely listened to what I said before he started demanding to know how long I had been wearing glasses and accusing us of not understanding how glasses work. I attempted to explain to him that I have been wearing glasses for over two decades. He called over the doctor and said to her, "THESE KIDS HERE want me to call their doctor, I have no idea if we can even do that" and on and on. I quickly explained the situation to the doctor, who shrugged and said to Ken, "So call him." Ken, our lovely assistant, gets on the line with Dr. Dao's office and begins to discredit us saying we have no idea how glasses work. After the phone call, my beleaguered boyfriend and I wearily gathered my glasses back. Ken stomps off without a word into the back room. Wow. I can't even make up service this bad. It was so traumatizing I had to blog about it. There are a TON of optometrists and glasses shops with service people who don't hate customers. read more

Where do I start: Optometric Options is a place you should strongly hold off on visiting. They do NOT pride themselves in the customer service sector (via telephone or in person). They are actually as bad as it gets. Once they make a mistake, good luck trying to convince them on cooperating with you to reach a mutual understanding. They are extremely hellbent with any of the many irrational, ill-advised decisions they make on a daily basis. I visited Optometric Options yesterday for the 7th time after having to come back in for mistakes made from their end. Please avoid this store if you wish to prevent any more problems in your life. I agree with Sophia S. 100%. The service needs to be improved. I no longer get my contacts at O.O. I had such a nightmare ordering them earlier this year. I requested them to ship my lenses express, and I never got them! When I got back into town, I demanded a refund for the express shipping, and the employee would only credit me 1/2 of the shipping. Terrible service. Oh and when I wanted to renew my contacts, they wanted me to get another exam (a year had passed, but I knew my vision was the same). Horrible service...waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged...only after I chased someone down was I checked in for my emergency eye appointment. Asked if doctor was running behind...receptionist told me she had no idea and to ask the doctor if I saw him. (that's a verbatim quote.) Finally saw doctor 1 1/4 hours after appointment...no acknowledgement of my wait. Other patients in waiting room indicated that this is an ongoing issue. when checking out, the doctor (who it seems is also the receptionist) waved my insurance card away when I tried to hand it to him. "you don't want to use your insurance (he had no idea what my plan was), just pay me $60". when i insisted on using my insurance (copay: $10) he claimed that the insurance only allowed one visit per year (not true, especially as this was an emergency appointment for an eye infection). read more

The customer service is awful. I lost my glasses and went there for the second time to purchase a pair of glasses and the service was so slow. They lock up all of their glasses so it takes forever to try them on. They open one compartment at a time and then walk away. It has been almost 3 weeks and I've yet to receive the glasses I purchased and when I tried calling the lady she put me on hold for a ridiculously long time. The total call took 20 minutes, all I wanted was the status of my glasses. She was rude, told me they might be on backorder and wouldn't assist further until the following week. It's never taken me 3+ weeks to get a pair of glasses- that's just ridiculous. Everytime I attempt to speak with this lady she cuts me off and says, "ok we'll call Monday and find out, bye" and hangs up.. Their glasses selection is great, which is why I go there. It's a shame because when I went there last year I had a great experience. What a bummer- This lady would benefit from customer service training. read more

Going here and seeing Dr. Moscot was one of the most annoying experiences; and I have been seeing an OD for many years now! He kept treating me like I was a child: calling be "honey" and not taking me seriously. He kept pushing for me to buy daily disposable contacts and when I told him that I can't afford them (after already saying twice that I'm not interested in that type of contacts), he just retorted: "Maybe you should consider drinking one less latte per day, and then you'll be able to afford them!" He was so presumptuous! This is no way to treat a patient; I understand that daily disposables are better for one's eyes, but it's not as if I have a major problem with allergies and I really must wear that type of contacts! Dr. Moscot was not saying anything of the kind either! In the end, I convinced him to prescribe me regular disposable contacts. And don't start me talking about glasses: everything is so expensive in that shop, and Dr. Moscot does not let you choose what you like and think will look best on you. He just says that basically you must chose the frame he wants and pay for the lenses he wants. Well, I wanted to have nothing of that sort. So I asked for the prescription and he didn't want to give me one initially. I had to insist that it's the law: he has to give me a copy of the prescription, and in the end he did that. Not to mention that he charged my insurance for contacts without consulting me first. Of course, I had to ask him to undo that, because I got my contacts online, just like I did my glasses. Very very bad customer service. We walked in and asked about repair service. A lady at a reception desk told us that we should wait for a person near the other desk. We waited for 10 minutes, no one came and talked to us, nor made any eye contact. I finally decided to ask a man ( can't recall the name, something starting with M) whether or not the wait will be long. In which he replied in a VERY rude tone that he doesn't know, whenever some one is available, and turned around the way so I won't have a second to say anything else. I've been a Yelp lurker for two years. But what incentivized me to finally leave my very first review? The Ziggy-worthy "why me" nightmare that is Optometric Options. The good: The eye doctor in residence gives me a really thorough exam. The bad: Multiple customer service nightmares ensue: - I make 5 visits to pick up my glasses... they are wrong each time. - On the fifth visit, defeated, I just ask for my Coach sunglasses frames back empty (they are my own). They say sorry, I have to talk to the manager for a refund of my $325 for still nonexistent sunglasses lenses. - However, that requires someone to answer the PHONE at Optometric Options... Which never happens. - So I wrote a letter. Polite, friendly. Please. Gimme. Refund. My family and I are patients! Something wonderful happened over the last two weeks. I developed an infection and was unable to wear my contact lenses. I asked to be seen on an emergency basis and they fit me in the same day and worked within my insurance confines to treat my problem; and then expedited the re-fitting for new daily contacts. Altogether they saved me time, money, and have always been wonderful to each of us and we are so fortunate to have them for our eyecare professionals!!! read more

I originally came because they take my insurance. They have a great selection of high end glasses. The sales people were very helpful and let me try on as many pairs as I wanted. She helped me choose frames that were in my price range and look good on my face. After choosing frames, I waited for about 10 minutes then saw they optometrist. I have been a patient here for a couple of years and felt like their service was always decent. I was always seen by a part-time Dr., but then I saw Dr. Moscot about a year ago and had the best experience. Not only is he a true professional, but he really cares and listens to me. The last two times I have been in, I have left with some good tidbit about my eye health and proper use of my contacts. It sounds boring, but he really has some good stuff! I was tempted to go somewhere else because they have a somewhat fancy shop and thought I might be able to get a better price on the exam and contacts elsewhere. It turns out that their prices are on par or a little lower than the chain I was tempted to visit. His staff is also very helpful, and there was never any pushiness from any of them about buying more than I needed. Val is the best. After 5 years of 20/20 vision from my eye laser surgery... Lost my 20/20 thanks to my use and abuse of the eyes and decided to visit this office because of the convenience of the location. Metered parking is available in front of the store, but parking is plenty on the residential streets (read the signs well for cleaning days + 2 HR limit!) Was overwhelmed by the sheer number of frames the store offered (choices galore!), decided to take a chance and purchased the frame online, loved the frame and brought my frame in for lenses. Service CAN be a little slow (depends on the time of the day) and frames are on the pricier side compared to their competitors, but this place also offers $99 for complete glasses set option and is pretty good for people with in-network vision insurance. Val is a friendly, warm and kind no frills person who helped me choose the best option for me without the feeling of being on the receiving end of hard selling, and I was in and out in 10 minutes. I love the service I was given, dr moscot is professional and very thorough. He's very personable and gives you the best advise for your optical well being. The staff is very professional and quick. The downside is they do not hurry or rush which means you might wait a little longer. However, they answered my many questions about my prescription. Dr. Moscot took a lot of time with my exam and finding the correct lenses for my very troublesome eye issues. With my poor vision, I prefer a doctor who takes his time to find me the right lenses and contacts. Therefore, I would recommend this place for someone who has some patience and wants their lenses done exactly right. I have experienced other places (Costco) and their "rush" policy. I don't find it beneficial to rush through an eye exam or with trying different lenses until you get exactly the right fit. They have many choices in frames. Absolutely best possible experience having my sunglasses repaired here today. The plastic bridge pad on my beloved old Prada shades had snapped, and I went in to have them repaired seeing as this place was so close to me. Not only did he repair the broken side in less than 2 minutes, he noted that the other side was starting to get fragile and repaired it as well. The new pads are a much nicer and smaller silicone piece than the original ones- great attention to detail. The place is lovely looking, parking is easy, and his pricing was extremely inexpensive for this quick repair. I will definitely be back when I need an optometrist, when someone has great attention to detail at one aspect of their job, it's certainly a great sign all of their work is of high quality. read more

Got my eyes checked here this past weekend. Wasn't planning on buying glasses, but they have so many options, I ended up leaving with a pair. They have so many options as far as frames, and designer styles. Also, they got my glasses ready for me in one day, which I hear isn't normal. Usually takes 5-10 days, I guess. They were very nice, professional, and just all around helpful. Would recommend them to everyone. On a side note, if you go on the weekend (yes, they have weekend hours), make sure to park in the neighborhood areas in front of a house. Many many things were wrong with my visit to Optometric Options. Firstly, I had booked an appointment with Dr. Moscot, but upon arriving was told that I would be seeing another optometrist, Dr. Truong because. This "bait & switch" I thought was incredibly unprofessional, verging on unethical. Nonetheless, I continued with the appointment. For the problematic factors of the visit itself: · Mis-diagnosis - Dr. Truong, while seemingly very confident in her demeanor and gestures, ultimately misdiagnosed my eyes and spread false information to cause quite a scare · Outdated and faulty technology - The ocular tonometry machine gave several inaccurate, false readings. Visits to other visits featured newer machines with gentler mechanisms and more accurate results -The retinal screening device would not load, rendering it useless for the visit. · Clear ulterior financial motives - Retinal screening here costs $40, where it is free at other places for general checkups. This in and of itself is questionable. - Many other optometrists will stress the adaptability of the eyes. Dr. Truong was very quick to prescribe and suggest new glasses right off the cuff. This family-run business is clearly trying their best to make a quick buck rather than considering the long-term viability of your vision. Steer clear. read more

This is the most amazing optometrist in the LA area (maybe even more broadly). Dr Moscot is an incredible diagnostician. When my daughter was younger she would get horrible headaches. The school nurse sent us to Optometric Options. She checked out fine for her vision. Dr Moscot took her right back into the exam room when we asked about headaches. Turns out her eye muscles where confused about what jobs each were supposed to be doing. He set her up w glasses and the headaches disappeared. She continues on as his patient well into adulthood. Fast forward to present day when I get slammed with something bizarre that suddenly happens where my eyes are so dry I can barely have them open. I call all of the major eye institutes in Southern California as far away as San Diego. Unable to get an appt in any sort of meaningful time frame. Eventually we think of Dr Moscot, call up and they fit me in the same day, as soon as I could get there (I live in Ventura now). When I walked in my eyes were literally beet red. He examined me and we worked out a different plan to try out (the plan I'd gotten at urgent care was NOT working and I'd had an incorrect diagnosis). I walked out feeling hopeful again. A few days ago, I broke my glasses. I have a major lifecycle event in 2 weeks I'm planning for, with no time for crises. Unfortunately, my replacement glasses don't fit my face as well as the glasses that broke, and the right lens has a noticeably wrong prescription. Time to get new frames! I walked into Optometric Options today thinking that I would have to pay a lot for new frames, with the glasses ready in more than a week. The place was quiet, so I was seen right away by Mehdi. He spent a good chunk of time trying to find me all the frames that would fit my lenses. He explained that it's somewhat difficult to fit lenses into frames, and there usually aren't too many options. He came up with 2 frames - neither perfect but both better than the my replacement glasses' frames. I chose one (after soliciting his and Crista's and a friendly co-customer's opinions). He fitted the my lenses into the frames right then! He showed me the small gap between my lenses and the new frames, which was barely noticeable. I paid $85 and left wearing my new glasses (new frames, old lenses). Wow! I really appreciate Mehdi's professionalism and care. He worked diligently to get me the most choice in frames he could, and came up with good ones. $85 is not a bad price for these frames, I believe. And no charge for the labor! Both he and Crista are competent and very solicitous of the customers. And no one can beat that fabulous same-day service. Not to mention the great price! I am impressed and grateful. I've been coming here for years and years now... I used to love them... But then I got prescription sunglasses and literally the week after I got them the lenses started falling out... Now they are completely scratched up and there's nothing they will do for me... They won't even switch me out the lenses... They said I have to tighten the screws EVERY WEEK to make the lenses not fall out. I've never heard of such a thing before... I will never go back to this place again. They have a good selection, but be sure you have lots of time free when you go, lots of time to wait for the glasses to come in, and deep pockets for the up-sell. I bought several pairs of glasses from them a long time ago when they used to be in the Westside Pavilion, but hadn't been in for a long time. They do have a large selection, so I decided to stop in last month when it was time for a new pair. There are many options available, which is useful. They definitely steer you towards the more expensive options, but that seems to be common with glasses stores. The experience went downhill after I'd picked out my frames, however. They took my insurance information and started preparing my order. It turns out that in addition to getting the insurance info (which they were able to find easily), the optometrist had also put together the whole order, including which lenses and options would be included, without consulting with me or presenting me with any options first. They were simply presented as "here's what I'm ordering for you". When I asked about other options, I was told I wouldn't want them anyway. With more information about the various options, I might indeed have chosen the more expensive lenses anyway, but I definitely walked out feeling upsold. Any special warranty that might come with the lenses is also moot, because I've moved away from LA so I can't easily just bring them in. The glasses themselves also took longer than expected to come in, and each time I called for an update, I was told that I would get a call back the next morning, but I never did-- I always had to call and hound them. Unfortunately, I was leaving town 10 days after I placed my order, and they didn't come in time, so they had to ship them. When they arrived, they didn't really fit my head right, and I tried contacting them for suggestions, but they never replied to repeated emails, and rather fliply refused to offer any suggestions over the phone. (Obviously, I understand that they can't do anything to adjust them remotely, but when I asked for some specific suggestions, like what kind of nosepads I might try, they just said that if I'm getting them adjusted somewhere else, it's my fault... So, in the end, I'm left with very expensive glasses that I can't wear, and I have to wait until January for my insurance to "roll over") read more

I was passing out today while exploring the optometric and eyewear shops around, by a simple compare, you'll see their prices are extremely high, the same ray band model that I compared was 50% more to the neighboring shop. Worst and rudest office manager I've ever encountered. After I set up an appointment as a new patient. Mehdi, the office manager, left me a message cancelling it 4 hours beforehand. When I called him back to reschedule and told him that the cancellation was inconvenient because I had already put in to take time off of work, he became very defensive and kept interrupting me. He told me I should be grateful that the office called me to let me know the appointment was cancelled and then hung up on me as I was trying to figure out other options. I don't know if the doctors are good here or not, but I wouldn't want to see any doctor that employs office staff like this guy. read more
