This was my second visit to this office and my first time seeing Dr. Trien. My first experience here was great, which is why I returned but unfortunately, this visit was very different and left me feeling uncomfortable and unsupported. Dr. Truong attitude felt impatient and dismissive throughout the exam. I received unexpected news about my eyes and needed time to process before purchasing frames. Once I said I wouldn't be buying them that day, her demeanor completely shifted, and I felt more like a dollar sign than a patient. I simply asked for copies of my exam and previous prescription, and was questioned and met with clear frustration. It shouldn't be difficult to access your own medical information. Overall, I did not feel supported or cared for, especially during a vulnerable moment. I hope they improve customer service and communication, but I personally will not be returning. read more

Extremely uncomfortable experience from the second I stepped foot in there to the second I left. I booked an eye exam with Dr. Truong but for some reason was treated by a different, older male doctor who did not introduce himself so I don't know his name. Nobody said anything about it when I said I was checking for an appointment with Dr. Truong. It felt like an odd lack of professionalism for a medical service. The front desk staff and the doctor both made me feel uncomfortable at some point or another, they were not necessarily impolite but very very far from friendly and professional. My final straw was the man who tried to sell me glasses, he literally pouted and stuck his lip out when I said I couldn't afford new frames at the moment. Like... if you want to pay for it, that's fine (: I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. If you're considering this place, please look elsewhere (especially if you're a young woman). read more

Chose to come here for an eye exam because of they supposedly have one of the largest collections of frames. Mistake. The staff - rude. No greeting upon entry. The lady started asking about my insurance before she even looked it up. The salesman was an actual pain to deal with. He was mumbling his words, would barely make eye contact, & started having an attitude after the 2nd pair of glasses I tried on. With each pair I tried he seemed more frustrated. Their selection is mediocre, but nothing that can't be found anywhere else. I just read a lot of reviews which appear to be very similar to what I have been through several times. The staff acts like they don't see you as if you are invisible. Nobody welcomed or greets you when you come in the store. If you're waiting for the doctor after signing in, don't let someone come in that looks like the staff because they will through your chart on the back burner. I have excellent insurance and I will take it where they do not discriminate. If I get charged for an eye examination they'll be reported for insurance fraud and the BBB. My appointment here was very professional and Dr. Moscot is very friendly and supportive. The man who I picked up my glasses from and helped fit them was extremely rude and dismissive. He told me that it was my fault that my glasses felt weird because I didn't get the anti glare. It was never expressed to me that getting the anti glare on my glasses would help with how I would see, only that it would be aesthetically better. He said I could return and pay for the add on which I refused to do considering this was their mistake. I left feeling uncared for and unappreciated. I highly suggest avoiding this establishment if you want to receive quality customer care. I feel badly that Dr. Moscot has a team this careless. read more

I have been coming here for about 18 years. Dr. Moscot's office was originally based in the Westside Pavilion mall. They have always had a great selection of eyeglasses, which I love. I do tend to sway toward the name brands. I think both Doctors are great Dr. Moscot and Dr. Tran. Over the last couple of years I did notice the sales reps can be rude at times, which can be offensive. Yesterday, it seemed more than usual for the big push on me getting glasses vs. contacts. I only wear my glasses at home or once in a while going out. So, thats my reason for wanting contacts. I thought the customers should be be able to get what they want and not be made to feel guilty for using the eye insurance toward contacts. I kept telling my rep that I prefer contacts when going out or using it for work. She pointed out a few times that I wasted my insurance on contacts vs using it toward glasses and I would need to wait two years to be eligible again. I told her to stop scolding me for my decision. All I could think was why the heavy push on glasses. Did they need to meet a commission or quota? Nonetheless, I should be able to decide. The year before I wanted to get glasses, but apparently I was there 30 mins till closing. One of the reps said well we close in 30 mins. Just the the tone was rude. So, I said well I still want to look around. Luckily, I found a pair of La Font eyeglasses and he seemed to change his tune. Like I said, I do love the Doctors here, but due to the reps on the floor. I am thinking about going elsewhere next year. I shouldn't be made to feel bad or guilt for my decision. Also, I shouldn't feel bad for choosing stylish and high end glasses. read more

I have been purchasing from them yearly for the past 7 years and I am not sure when the paradigm shift occurred, but this store now offers ZERO customer service. You walk in the store and no one even acknowledges your presence. Not a "hello" or "can I help you?". I brought my girlfriend in who bought 2 pairs of prescription glasses. We go in to pick them up and they only made one pair and misplaced the other frame she picked out - no apology to her whatsoever. They acted is if she was a burden. In April I called to order a pair of sunglasses they did not have in stock. The woman took all my info - never returned my call. I have a pair of sunglasses I purchased from them 1.5 years ago and went to the store because the mirrored coating on the lenses is wearing on two spots just from sitting in the case. They said they would look into it and called me and said "we spoke to the manufacturer and they won't repair it". Considering I went the manufacturer's website myself and found they have a 2 year warranty on their eyewear - I am led to believe these lazy SOB's didn't even call. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Let me start off by saying that Dr. Truong is great. She is very detail oriented and knowledgeable However, the billing department is beyond awful, and for that reason, I would not recommend others to come here. I was charged for my contact lens exam and fitting, but during my follow-up appointment, the employee who checked me out tried to double charge me. It was not until I ask, did he then verify that I did not have to pay. Not only this, but my insurance was incorrectly billed $60 dollars even though I paid out of pocket for my exam. When I tried to purchase lenses from a third party, I was told that Optometric Options had placed a hold on my insurance so I would need to wait to be authorized. I was waiting at the third party vendor and called Optometric Options to get the charges cleared. But after waiting over 30 minutes without a call back, I ended up calling them, only to be told that they were busy, would not be able to call my insurance at the moment, and were unable to give me a time frame of how long I could expect to wait at the third party vendor. It was only until I had my insurance call them directly, did they finally clear the charges. This in total took 2 weeks of back and forth phone calls and almost 2 hours of physical waiting. I want to caution others so that more people do not need to go through what I experienced read more

We have ordered eyeglasses from this business in the past. Due to their very large selection of frames, we decided to try them again. we told them who our insurance was through, they looked it up and told us that our insurance did not cover any of the frames the store stocks and the best they could do was to offer a percentage discount on the frames they sell. We called our insurance carrier while we were in the store and were told that our insurance benefit covers ANY frame we choose up to a certain dollar amount. upon further questioning of the store's employee, who was rude and dismissive, we were then told that the optometrist made the decision to only offer a percentage discount, not the amount we are entitled to. The ironic thing is that this store is an in-network provider, and we believe they are supposed to abide by the agreement they have with the insurance company. we even asked the employee to call our insurer and get the right info. the employee refused and stated he didn't need to because he already knew what our benefits were. unfortunately, he didn't know what he was talking about and managed to waste a considerable amount of our time. we left this store and went to another in-network provider down the street who was wonderful to work with and honored the insurance benefits we are entitled to no matter what frame we chose. we will never set foot in Optometric Options again, and, for obvious reasons, will never recommend them to anyone. read more

I give them 2 stars because they all wore masks and there was a coffee machine which came in handy in my 45 minutes wait. I contacted them because they take my insurance, are close to my place, and they have fairly good reviews. I should have taken note of the 'fairly good'. I arrived 5 minutes early to an unmanned reception desk but I could see three staff attending to clients. So, I waited...I was early, remember?. The wait turned to 20 minutes with no one coming to the desk or acknowledging my presence. At 25 minutes, I approached one of the busy staff and asked about the process. She came to the desk and asked me to fill out forms. I filled the forms and returned to the empty desk. It's now 30 minutes into the so-called appointment. Keep in mind they called the previous day to remind me of my appointment. And that alone, made me think they care....I was wrong. 35 minutes in, three staff came to the small reception desk, each with their client. So there we were, 7 of us...no social distancing in the small reception area. Welcome to 'let's spread the coronavirus session'. One of them, (the lovely lady who gave me the paper work) took my forms and began entering my info in the computer. The next minute, a gentleman took over. The process was quick. The new wait to see Dr. Thuytien began. I waited... still, no one apologized for the delay or explained the process. I found myself asking questions...'where do I go now?' The place is like a little maze, which was fun. In the new meantime, a new client had just entered Dr. Thuytien's office while I was at the reception. After a 45 minutes wait, I walked out and decided my time and money will be valuable somewhere else. Someone please teach customer service skills and support to this business, including the art of honoring appointments. read more

I'm not sure they're aware, but Optometric Options has been my only optometrist since my 20's - 25 years ago - when Dr. Moscot and the store were still located at the old Westside Pavilion mall. That's longer than any doctor, or even store, that I've ever stayed loyal too. I trust them implicitly and they have a wide range of frames that have suited every income level I've had since being a poor, debt-ridden college grad. Never a complaint. Dr. M and Francisco both made today's visit a very very unpleasant and awful experience, for someone who's family has been coming here for a decade. Upon entering the store I was left neglected and unwelcomed. After making my glasses selection, I was treated so rudely when addressing the usual insurance provider coverage on the frames. Was told not to question anything or anyone when there was confusion on THEIR end. I've Been going thru the same process to get my glasses for years and today suddenly they tried to claim the process has changed and rudely told me not to inquire about it. Gosh. They are slow. Ordered 2 pairs of glasses from them. They said they would be done in 4 days. 2 weeks later I called and they were still not done. I called again a few days later and was told that only one pair was done. I said that's fine (distance glasses is better than no glasses). Went to get them and was told that the other ones will be done tomorrow. So 2 weeks later I finally get a call to pick up the second pair. I come in and nobody is paying any attention to me. In fact 2 other customers came in and got serviced before anyone talked to me. The guys name whom the optometrist asked to get them is Francisco. He's the one who didn't pay attention. read more

I went in on a random Saturday no appointment or anything and was immediately greeted by Lorna and she helped me out the whole time I was there total time of maybe 45 minutes. She was also able to get me an appointment with Dr.Truong who was very helpful and pleasant for that same day. Got a call to pick up my glasses the following Friday a total of 6 days. Reason for me going to this place was that after having bad experiences at other local optometrist I decided to give this place a try and it was worth it. I found this Optometric Options (Dr. Moscot) earlier in the year through my insurance provider. Through my referral, my boyfriend and I both got our glasses from here. We both had great experiences at the time. Fast forward to today: I called to ask about my prescription information. The lady answering the phone rudely told me that the doctor had left the office, and to call back the next day. I then inquired if the doctor was the only person with access to patient prescription information (because that sounds odd), and mind you, all I wanted to know was my eye prescription because they had never given me my prescription on an actual piece of paper. She said something about coming into their office if I wanted to buy or order something (?). I then repeated that I just wanted to know my prescription information (which I am entitled to!); she put me on a brief hold, came back to read off my prescription quickly, then hung up the phone! It baffles me how unprofessionally this team treats existing customers, once the slightest suspicion is raised that people might be ordering glasses/contacts elsewhere. I wasn't planning on that when I had made the phone call, but now I will for sure be taking my business elsewhere! read more

(Besides the Dr.) This past weekend was my ABSOLUTE LAST TIME going to Optometric Options. Of the many years that I've supported this business, not ONE time have I walked in and been greeted by staff. Not even when I've made eye contact with one of them. My kids have asked on several occasions, "Mom why do you do business with these people, they're rude, they don't speak and they're not even doing anything?" My answer was always, I come here because they have nice frames. This is ridiculous! I'm embarrassed for myself to have even put up with this mess for so long! I have had glasses and contacts made for my entire family over the years and the energy and customer service they have displayed towards me and my family is disgusting and quite shameful. I will never step foot in that business again, last weekend just pushed me over the edge. I walked in thinking things would be better this time, as I always did. I'm not sure if color plays a factor, but it's hard to think otherwise. It definitely doesn't hurt to say, "Hi, can I help you?" As I walked around the store feeling and getting more and more upset inside, I just had to go and quietly speak to the gentleman at the desk to express my disappointment. The Gentleman tells me, the reason nobody greeted us the entire 10 minutes we had been in the store, was because they're busy....WHAT?! Two customers is not a good enough reason, or an excuse not to speak. You claim to be too busy, when there's 4 employees on staff, where's the freakin customer service! Is this a cultural thing!? You want to be ignored when you walk in the door, but watched like a hawk when you're walking around the store to look at the selection?....this is the place for you! You want an employee to squeeze between you and your family to get to the desk, without saying "hi", or "excuse me"?.....this is the place for you. I plan to go where my BLACK DOLLARS are appreciated, where great customer service is a priority to a business and the employees that work there. These people here cant find your file. They take 15 minutes to find it. Twice this happened. They will not give you a different pair of glasses if the ones you have are faulty. I took this pair in twice. They said they can only replace it with the same crappy glasses. Then someone called me and blamed me for damaging the glasses. I took my prescriptions and will be going to the fab new optometrist in Century City. read more

This place is like the Cheesecake Factory for glasses! What a selection! So much so that it took me, literally over 3 hours to find the perfect pair. Okay, so maybe I'm a little OCD, but if I'm going to throw down $$$ on a new pair of frames, I want them to be just right. I felt both Rick and Kristen went above and beyond to be helpful, which made the process so much easier. They seriously do have hundreds of frames to choose from, so you're sure to find something that is a good fit. The prices were also very reasonable and they took my insurance. They were very thorough in measuring everything perfectly and making sure I was happy with my choices. I can't wait to pick up my new frames - mostly because I'm freakin' blind without them. read more

I'm giving Optometric Options a 3-star rating only because of Val (who is a 5-star gent) and their coffee/hot cocoa machine in the back. Val is an optometrist and the only reason I continue to patronize Optometric Options. Val is not only knowledgeable about eyewear, but about the types of lenses that best suit the needs of his clients. I've referred clients to Dr. Elliot Moscot, the owner of the establishment, for nearly 2 decades, yet he has never been remotely appreciative. He gives them discounts while charging me full price! They have a nice selection of designer eyewear, which I am honestly not impressed with, because I own some of everything under the sun. But if you're looking for current styles of Givenchy, Prada, Tom Ford, Dior, etc., this is a good place to look. The rest of the people in Dr. Moscot's employ are a joke. They don't acknowledge anyone who isn't the color of daylight. *clears throat* Yet, they've been there forever and will likely die in that office. They aren't as knowledgeable, kind or caring as Val, either. He helped my mother find the perfect frames for her new, pricey, but much needed lenses. I hate to be the guy who only leaves negative reviews however, I expect good service and when I don't get it, you get a bad review! I walked into Optometric Options and was ignored. I walked to the counter and waited a few minutes. Then I walked around the store and picked out three frames that I was interested in. Even though there were two associates helping two other customers they did not greet me or tell me that they would be with me in a moment. They just totally ignored me. Even as I write this review one of the customers walked out and I'm in full view of the store and they couldn't bother to ask if I needed help. Laughable! After many visits to different clinics my wife finally got the right perscription and high quality lenses. I've been coming to see Dr Moskot for years and have always found him to be thorough accomodating. He's always been up to date with the latest technology and styles. I moved away recently and went to a different optometrist which only made me appreciate dr. Moskot even more. I was having a hard time finding contact lenses that took care of astigmatism, but he was able to have some custom ordered that have been great. It's worth driving 100 miles to see him. read more

In the past he has even asked why I stopped purchasing contacts from him. When I told him that costco had the best prices, he decided to match their pricing. Awesome! I've been going to Dr. M for years and he always takes such good care of me. I recently had to replace my glasses and Val worked with me to pick out what we thought was a great pair, but they weren't. When I went back and told him that I was unhappy with my new glasses, he patiently worked with me to pick out an even better pair, fix/adjust them to make them absolutely perfect. Dishonest, terrible customer service, would give no stars if possible. They charged me for 1.74 high index polarized lenses, but when I finally received my sunglasses (took a whole month), they seemed way too thick. When I complained, the technician blamed the thickness on my choice of frames and refused to refund. I then overheard another technician say that polarized lenses aren't available in 1.74, only in 1.67. So they tried to pull the bait and switch, and after I figured it out, the technician still wouldn't refund me! I had to demand talking to the Dr before she would issue the refund, and can I say, the Dr never even came out to apologize for the mistake. The technician wasn't good at choosing the right frames for my features or high prescription. My husband came here too, and a different technician mixed up our insurance and charged things all wrong. I had to keep on calling to find out the status of the glasses because they didn't call me back. When I got fed up, they kept on refusing to refund. Then they pulled the bait and switch and never once apologized. Really, really awful. There are so many other options in LA and online, I don't see the reason to waste time and money on this shop. read more

My family and I have been going to Optometric Options for over 20 years. Dr. Moscot is great and the staff is excellent. I especially appreciate that he's worked with the schools over the years providing screening exams for kids who might not otherwise get their vision tested. My exam was great! However, Laura, the Office Coordinator, was a bit incompetent. She had me waiting for 15 minutes while she called the wrong VSP #. She then asked me to do her job and call the # on the back of my insurance card for her. I politely declined and said it was best for her to do it as I only had my lunch hour to spare. The optometrist came for me moments later. After my exam when checking out, she insisted I owed over $300 dollars for my visit. I asked her to break it down only including the exam and contact lense fitting because I had no intention of purchasing anything outside of my exam. She really should have asked prior to insisting. I ended paying $70 for my exam with contact lense fitting as a co-pay outside of what VSP covers. My whole experience took over an hour. read more

Dr. Chen (I believe was the name) gave me a WRONG contact lense perscription. I found that out after calling Optometric Options after wearing a wrong perscription for nearly 2 weeks, which ended up leaving me with a horrible headache. On top of that, I called and Andrea (employee) who picked up the phone eventually told me that the reason why I received the wrong prescription for my contacts were because I did not order it from them despite having a written note from the doctor about my prescription for both eyes ( which makes absolutely no sense since it should not matter whether or not I decided to order contacts from them - especially since the optometrist already made a mistake with my prescription for my $300+ glasses). Andrea also kept telling me they are busy and they couldn't deal with the issue and I had to call back 10+ times. They blamed for not ordering contact lenses from them and not even covering my loss. I've spoken with a few more employees but they are all slow, rude, and pushy. I was rushed to choose my glasses and I STRONGLY regret coming here. All in all, if you want to avoid headaches via the glasses you receive from them or headaches from having to borderline argue with their staff, I strongly recommend considering using their services as a last resort.
