Great first visit. I really like the fact that they are open on Saturdays, have amazing and friendly staff and modern technology. Nancy was able to schedule me in literally within the hour of my call. And no, not because they are not busy because there was a person when I got in and had a patient waiting for her turn when I came out. It's just everything and everyone is very efficient and know their job really well. I also loved new technology that Dr. Taranto used where full examination of my eyes was done without dilation. I had a thorough exam, wasn't rushed and yet had ample time spent with me by the doctor and his helpers, all under one hour including billing and insurance coverage overview. FULL DISCLOSURE: I came to this optometry solely based on the fact that they carry Celine and initially didn't even care about what the overall experience would be like. They could have been the snootiest people ever (they're not!) and I would have just been happy to get my new frames. Though, after having my appointment and picking up my glasses last week, I can honestly say that this is the best place ever to get an eye exam AND to get exclusive designer frames. I called the office in the first week of January to make my appointment and they told me to conveniently make one online via their website. This also allowed me to fill-out all of my patient paperwork which was a complete time-saver! They had quite a few openings and I was able to reserve a time that fit my schedule perfectly. At my appointment, Nancy did all of the initial eye tests, and even tightened my old prescription frames while I was with Dr. Taranto. My exam with Dr. Taranto was very enjoyable and he makes the best conversation in between all of his tests - one of which is apparently technology from Sweden that allows him to test eye pressure without the use of dilating eye drops - BONUS! On to the part that I was the most excited about - picking new frames! Nancy helped me again and it was a lot of fun getting her and my sister's (who accompanied me) opinions on my selections as I tried them on. I ended up choosing a unique semi-opaque, rose gold Celine frame with Crizal lenses. Nancy then proceeded to show me all of the money I was saving with my VSP insurance. About a week later, I got an email that my glasses were ready and was able to pick them up without an appointment. After noticing problems with my vision, I came to Studio City Family Vision Group for my first ever eye exam... and was beyond impressed!!! Starting from the outside, their showcase of frames look beautiful and appealing, even form the sidewalk. After walking in, I was warmly welcomed by the staff at the front desk. After filling out the general paper work (insurance, Dr. info, etc.), I was helped by Dr. Jeff Taranto. He was super caring, kind, and most importantly SUPER PROFESSIONAL with his work. He put me through a series of tests to asses my general vision, and rather the dilating my eyes and not being able to see for the rest of the day, their up to date technology, quick snapped a picture of my eye. Dr. Jeff was thorough in explaining the different problems many people have, and thankfully indicated, based on my picture that I did not have any severe problems or warning signs! We then did more specific tests to test test my vision and narrow down exactly how "good" or "bad" my vision was. Within ten minutes, my eye exam was over and I was ready to pick out frames. The staff the originally helped me were very helpful in picking frames that were both stylish, and fair in price. So I just moved out to California from Alabama and my eyes were bothering me from the dry weather. I googled eye doctors near West Hollywood and I found a place in Studio City which was only a 10 minute drive so I figured I would give it a shot. The Dr. was very nice and he flipped my eyelids (it didn't hurt!) and told me that I had these bumps under my eyelids which have been causing my eyes to itch. Why didn't my eye doctor in Alabama do that!!?? He wrote me out a prescription for allergy eye drops and since then the itching is gone. He checked me for glasses and he told me my vision was perfect so I do not need to wear anything! I did buy a pair of non-prescription sunglasses because I lost my glasses in the move. I will only be coming here for now on for all of my eye exams! read more

I came in for a eye evaluation and to seek advice about lasik, and Dr Taranto recommended that I get the Ortho-K. I had never heard of this procedure before, so I went home to do my research. A week later I decided to get to give it a try. After wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years, I was ready for a change. Don't get me wrong, I was still a little skeptical but after two days, my vision went from a -5.00 to a -1.00. For me that was a lot to celebrate about. Ive now purchased contacts and gotten an exam on separate occasions at Opulent Eyes, and I've been blown away by their no-pressure customer service. They were kind enough to squeeze me in for an exam when I had an unexpected eye-mergency, and were realistic with my wait time as they finished helping other customers. Dr. Taranto diagnosed my issue in a flash, and at a price well below what I would have paid at an urgent care facility. Best doctor ever!!!! Dr. Taranto has been giving me and my eyes the best treatment for about a year and I am so happy I found him and his team. They always get me in right away, especially if I have an emergency. He's beyond cool and his #1, Diana, such a gem! I had an eye infection and dryness, and when I called they got me in right away. He was very informative and was just as helpful at the follow up appt. He's very caring and very thorough with his patients. SOO many great things to say about this place. First, I'd like to lay a little context for fellow Los Angeles new-comers: I moved here a few years ago and had been on a painfully unsuccessful search to find an optometrist I liked and trusted. And I honestly can't believe some of the experiences I had while trying to do that. I won't name names, but OMG it was just a blur of wrong prescriptions, rude service, and upsettingly unorganized appointments. I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 10 so I know the importance of eye heath AND the importance of feeling like I can TRUST my doctor. So I'll spare you the gory details, but basically enough was enough and I went on a researching frenzy for a REAL doctor. Then lo and behold! Finally I found my little slice of eyeball heaven: Dr. Taranto and his staff are amazing. First of all, they cover everything I'm looking for in a doctor's office- they are knowledgable, patient, extremely good at what they do, and above all they make me feel incredibly secure that I'm getting my eyes the best care possible. Beyond that, I think Taranto is actually one of the funniest people I've ever met. AAAND their frames are gorgeous!...... which usually isn't a huge selling point for me because I have online places I like to order from, but it's sooo much nicer when you can actually see frames on your face first. Okay and wait, it gets better (even possible?): They. Cut. Lenses. IN. HOUSE! Which I realize that may not be a big deal to everyone. But when you know the pain of waiting weeks on end.... and then a few more weeks.... and then you get your lenses and they're wrong..... I recently started seeing flashes out of the corner of my eyes. I was freaking out a bit because I had read that that can be very dangerous. I called my regular ophthalmologist, but she was on vacation. I was in the valley, and a friend suggested I call Dr. Taranto. He was amazing. He calmly addressed my concerns and told me to come in. He saw me right away. He did a thorough exam and then patiently explained how those flashes of light were perfectly normal, and not the kind to be concerned about. He showed me pictures of what my eyes looked like, and then pictures of what they would have looked like if I had the dangerous condition. He was really kind and professional and wonderful. His Southern accent and good looks didn't hurt, either. I highly recommend him. I didn't need new glasses at the time, but it looked like he had a great selection of frames. read more

I came from Orange County to see Dr. Jeffrey because I had keratoconus since I was a kid the last eye doctor I saw prescribed me a contact lens that was hard in the center and soft on the outside. My vision was okay but my eyes are always very very red. Dr. Jeffrey fit me with scleral contact lens which have no soft part but they are way more comfortable then the contact I used before and my vision is way better. Now my eyes are bright white and nobody asks me why my eyes are so red. Before he fit me with the scleral contacts I had been struggling with contact lens for 3 years and Dr. Jeffrey found the solution from the fist visit; not just for the redness and dryness that was caused from the previous contact lens but he also gave me the best vision I have ever had. He's patient and professional, he cares about his patients a lot. I just want to say thanks to him here. I highly recommend him to anybody who has keratoconus and needs a specialty contact lens or anybody who needs their eye's checked in general. read more

I have always had dry eyes and allergies and every time I used the drops other eye doctors gave me they never seemed to work. Dr Taranto told me that there is a channel from the eye to the nose so the drops that I was using would not work as well as they could unless I got punctual plugs. Dr Taranto told me the puncta is the hole so by putting a tiny plug inside it would keep the drops in the eye. At first I was nervous but the procedure was quick and painless and now when I use my drops they actually work so my eyes no longer burn or itch. Dr Taranto and Nancy are always so polite and professional. I confidently recommend Dr Taranto to anyone. read more

I saw Dr. Taranto last week for my first eye exam ever!! He told me my prescription was so mild that I did not need to buy glasses. He put some drops into my eyes and discovered that I had a freckle in the back of the eye. He then took a picture and told me to come back in 6 months to check on the freckle. I've been coming to Dr. Taranto for a couple of years now. I've always gone to optometric groups that are large offices with several doctors, many patients, and a large staff, so my experience with eye doctors is that it can often turn into a 2+ hour endeavor. Being that this is a much smaller operation, I get the doctor and staff's undivided attention as the only patient they can examine at a given time. If I'm just there for an exam, I'm in and out in a half hour without a dip in any quality. I'm very picky when it comes to having an optometrist who knows what he/she is doing, and Dr. Taranto is just that. I had an excellent examination performed by Dr. Taranto, and he was very informative throughout the whole exam process. It was painless - he even had a machine that eliminates the need to send an air puff into each eye. I ordered three pairs of glasses - progressives for all around use, prescription sunglasses for driving, and prescription glasses for computer work. I sit in front of a computer most of the day. He had a great selection of frames and explained all about lenses and coatings. My all-around use glasses were ready in a few days and so were my sunglasses. My computer glasses are made of frames that come from Italy, so it will be a little over ten days wait for them. So far the two pairs that I picked up are great. When I went to pick up the eyeglasses, both Christian and Nancy, the two people who work in the front of the store, were extremely helpful and attentive to me. Prices were reasonable and I am told that they take vision insurance, although I don't have any. Dr. Taranto gave me a pair of contacts to try out too, but I have been too busy enjoying my new eyeglasses to try them. All in all, it has been a great experience. What a nice experience. Stopped in with my husband so he could get an adjustment on some new lenses, and decided spur of the moment to have my yearly eye test. I get nervous when things are around my eyes, so I'm not the world's easiest patient. Dr. Taranto was spectacular. He immediately put me at ease, explained everything without being prompted, and spoke to me like a person, rather than that annoying way some doctors talk down to you. His equipment was newly updated, and I felt like I was in truly capable hands. Also, when it came to the "adjustment" he pointed out that there was nothing actually wrong with the lenses (that another OD had done) and that the problem was just dry eyes. Not only did he not charge us for that, but he also gave us a free sample of eye drops to test out, and told us we could just buy the drops at Walgreen's. When someone doesn't try to up-sell me, they win my business. I'll be referring people here for a long, long time. read more
