"Dreams are something you have to believe in. I almost gave up on mine. To all of you out there,…read moreplease keep your dreams alive." - Ke Huy Quan, 2023 Oscar Winner for Best Supporting Actor When I was child in the 1970s, I loved watching television and the stories that the actors would convey over the screen. I loved how shows captured my attention with their laughter, escapism, or storyline. So, after 50 years of denying my dream and retiring from a 30+ year career, I started taking classes at the Actor's Studio of Orange County (ASoOC) in 2023 and studying the Seven Pillars Acting Technique. The Seven Pillars Acting Technique is a comprehensive acting technique that teaches you how to analyze scripts and how to "live truthfully under imaginary circumstances" because acting is so much more than just memorizing lines! Yet, the techniques are only words on paper. At ASoOC, I learned how to behave, speak, and feel as the character from all the wonderful instructors who brought the words and techniques to life! All working actors themselves, the instructors taught, encouraged, nurtured, and gently pushed/challenged/stretched us from the very first class of Living Truthfully to the very last graduating Showcase. All the while, they created a community where fellow students/actors encouraged, rather than competed with, each other. Lastly, students also learned the "business side" of acting, such as preparing their resumes, shooting their headshots, creating a biography, figuring out their casting types, etc. The business side (I needed to provide a biography) immediately came into play once I graduated! By nature, I am an introvert; yet, as I went through the classes at the ASoOC, I found myself emerging from myself and stepping up to the challenges of the given script (a shoutout to Victoria M. for nudging me!). Having recently graduated from the program, I am now making people laugh, allowing them to escape, or capturing their attention with the storyline. ASoOC is a wonderful community to learn the art of acting! Please keep your dreams alive!

He is extremely humble, considering he's made a career out of acting. He never treats an actor as if they've 'arrived'--rather it seems he values growth and reflection. Whether you are a beginner or have years of experience and credentials, you'll learn a lot from taking his class. He also offers students practical advice for working in the industry. We were recommended by someone we know that went through their summer camps and spoke very highly of AAFK. I was definitely nervous in the beginning because we didn't know what to expect and we're also protective as well (as many are too). All of my questions were answered when I texted them and as we got closer to the start date, a detailed and waiver were also sent out outlining all of the information. Signed up for Wicked Part 2 and K-Pop Demon Hunters. I can't express enough on what a positive experience it was. We were in awe what the students were able to do in less than a week! Incredible!!!! The lighting, the sound, the stage, the props, and costumes brought everything life! How exciting it was for students to see the inner workings of theater and all of the magic and hard work behind the scene. To top it off, it took place at an actual theater, which made it official and exciting. Mr. David, his assistants, and the theater staff were all wonderful. Mr. David is charismatic, fun, silly, and knowledgeable, yet can also be serious with the students when needed as well. We loved how he added life lessons and teachings where he could in a way that came across as a casual conversation. It really stuck with my student; we appreciate it. Love how he can switch to a different voice when interacting with the students and adults. He knows how to communicate effectively, yet also encouraging and motivates the students as well. Yes, if you go to the Newport Beach location, there is a tree and rolling hill in the front. As much as it's the staff's responsibility to keep your students safe, it's also your responsibility as parents to talk and explain to your children what you expect of them and decorum when you are not there. The same goes for what parts they get in the show. Before attending, we had a conversation about not getting certain roles we may want and how to process and deal with that. It doesn't take away from the experience if you prepare your students ahead of time. Skills my student learned after two weeks: Following through and not giving up even when things get challenging, believing in yourself, be and do your best no matter what, being a team player--by helping others, taking ownership and responsibility for the role you get, and understand that things can happen on and off stage--dust yourselves off, but the show must go on!!! Most importantly, TO HAVE FUN! Will definitely back!!!! We hope they will offer Hamilton and Wicked Part 1 later on in the summer next year!

My son absolutely loves Australian Swim School, and I can't recommend them enough!…read more One of the biggest reasons we chose this swim school is the water temperature. It's by far the warmest pool we could find, and it's the only place where my son happily stays in the water without shivering. Our regular instructor is Mr. Nori, and he has been wonderful with my son. He's patient, encouraging, and fantastic with all of the kids I've seen in his classes. We recently missed a couple of lessons and had to attend makeup classes. For whatever reason, my son suddenly decided he didn't want to go back for his lesson. Miss Kaylee stepped in and was incredible. She tried everything she could to gently encourage him to go to the back pool, but when it became clear he wasn't going to do it, she didn't give up. Instead, she offered to work with him one-on-one in the front pool where we already were. She even promised she wouldn't put his head under the water. In the end, he became comfortable enough that he chose to put his face in the water on his own with her guidance, but she honored her promise and never forced him. That meant so much to me. I don't know if she was on her lunch break, between classes, or supposed to be doing something else, but I know that impromptu private lesson wasn't part of her day. She took the time simply because she cared, and it completely turned the experience around for my son. The best part is that it worked. Today my son happily got back in the water with Mr. Nori, and I honestly think it was his best lesson yet. Mr. Nori was so sweet, so encouraging, and genuinely proud of him. Seeing his confidence come back was such a great moment as a parent, and I really credit both instructors for making that happen. Every single person we've interacted with has been kind, welcoming, patient, and genuinely wonderful with kids. I honestly have not had a single negative experience here. The first class is free, the warm water makes such a difference, and the little splash pad was a huge part of getting my son's initial buy-in. From the instructors to the front desk staff, the entire team is amazing. If you're looking for swim lessons for your child, I highly recommend Australian Swim School!

We've been going to this school since they were in Fullerton, and they've always been great. My daughter started with Mr Nori and he's one of her favorite instructors. She's gone through a few instructors and we've never had a bad experience. My son now attends the school too. This morning, my daughter had a make up class and had to go into a different swim lane with a new teacher. She's been apprehensive about leaving her current school and starting kinder next year, and the emotions came out today. She started crying and holding onto me when she saw the new lane and instructor and said she doesn't want new things. Within seconds, Mr Scott came over and began comforting her asking if she'd like to see her other instructor Mayumi. Mayumi wasn't even dressed to go in the water, but rolled up her jeans and sat in another lane with her. Mr Nori came by to say hi and comfort her, and Mr Christopher gave her a private lesson for a few minutes while she adjusted. He eventually asked her if she wanted to join him in the new lane with the new instructor, and she said yes and was happy the rest of the time. Mayumi also came back to check on her. This is the level of care any parent looks for in a school and I highly recommend coming here.
