Botched Job! Went in for an upper eye lift to see better and after he did the procedure my right eye lid is lower than my left he redid it and still did not correct the issue. He said I would need to have a brow lift to fix his botched job which is more invasive and 2.000.00 more than I already paid. I paid 3,500 for the eye lift. I said absolutely not! I wanted a refund and he said he would not give me a refund for deforming my eyes which are uneven now. I left a review many months ago and this is a follow up on that. Dr. Bunkis' office did contact me within an hour of posting my last review. I was asked to come in and discuss my complaint directly with him and I did. He offered to do another surgery to try to fix the issues that were the source of my original complaint. This would have been his 3rd attempt to give me a positive outcome of the removal/replacement of my old implants. He has assured me he was going to make them beautiful for me, they were horrible, I went directly to him shortly after having my bandages removed & he offered to provide his services for free but it still cost me over 5k in other fees (anesthesiologist, operating room, cost of implants). But I happily paid in the hopes he would fix. Unfortunately, it increased the amount of money I wasted going to him. I so regret it. When I asked him what he would do differently on the 3rd attempt he had no plan other than just more of the same. I was not willing to take more time off work, undergo the risk of being put under AGAIN, in addition to having to repeat all the pain and begin the healing process all over again when there was no real game plan on how this time there would be a different outcome. When I met with him after my negative review he said something to the effect of "we are only as happy as our least happy customer" and he told me he wanted to make me happy. This is a nice sentiment & sounds like a great business motto but with no game plan on what would be done differently to fix it, those words were just meaningless fluff. He asked me to call him in February (the one year anniversary of his 2nd attempt) to schedule surgery for his 3rd attempt. I decided I was not willing to give him a 3rd chance as I think a professional plastic surgeon should have been able to give me beautiful results the 1st time. But I understand everyone can have a bad day so I gave him a 2nd shot. Still a horrible outcome. If the doctor really meant what he said about only being as happy as his least happy customer you would think that he or one of his staff would have followed up with me in February when I didn't call back or at some point afterwards...but nobody ever has. At this point I do not want them to. I have had numerous women that saw my last post who have contacted me explaining that they also had the exact same nightmare with Dr. Bunkis that I had. Giving him as many as 3 attempts at surgery to fix his original bad job and even after the 3rd attempt they are still mortified by their results. All this to say....keep looking for a different surgeon, this guy should lose his license and should not be allowed to take anyone else's money with the promise of giving them beautiful results as a plastic surgeon should do. read more

I had the absolute BEST care at Orange County Plastic Surgery Center. My doctor was Dr. Bunkis, he is AMAZING!!! I'm beyond happy with the outcome of my surgery. He has a wonderful caring bedside manner and he is very professional. He's that one doctor your looking for to get the results you want. There really aren't words to express how terrible this surgeon is. I went to him for a simple implant replacement. I woke up with my right breast filled with fluid which he passed off as Normal swelling. Having had previous surgeries I knew this was incorrect. The swelling eventually subsided but lead to a capsular contraction within three months. I was told to come back at 6ths at which time Dr told me it had to come out. Charging me full price again I went back into surgery only to wake up to an absolute nightmare. My entire body was twice it's size, I was told it was because I was so skinny. Not possible! When I laid down my right implant slipped under my armpit. My scares were atrocious. When I went to see Dr Bunkis He and his assistant looked visibly disturbed but took no responsibility and gave a cavalier response of " I guess I could go in an up a stitch in it in the future"Distraught, my husband and I left. The next day I began leaking blood from my incision. I was seen by another physician who concluded that Dr Bunkis had left a bleeding vessel in my breast and I had a hematoma. He removed 100ccs of bright red blood. I bled for almost 2weeks. Dr Bunkis had removed all breast tissue from my right side as well as part of my chest muscle. Unwilling to allow Dr Bunkis to touch me again I found a few Drs for consultation, all condemning Dr Bunkis work calling it negligent. I settled on a surgeon and have started the reconstruction process. I have had 4 surgeries in 18mths. Dr Bunkis was unwilling to take responsibility and at minimum return payments to him. I paid him $23,000 total for this mess. It has cost me an additional $24,000 to try to repair his mess. Never mind the pain, time off work and mental anguish. He should not be allowed to get away with this. He does not care about his work nor his patients. Please read all reviews and you will see I am not alone. I had otoplasty (ear pin back surgery) last year through Orange County Plastic Surgery. The entire process was very rushed--consultation, surgery prep, surgery. I told Dr. Bunkis I wanted my ears pinned all the way back, but he told me I'd look better with them slightly out. I felt intimidated standing up to him, so I went with his suggestion. All the way up until the day of the surgery, I felt dissatisfied with the plan for my ears. Still, Dr. Bunkis assured me that he knew what he was doing. My questions and doubts were quickly dispelled as if Dr. Bunkis knew the way he was pinning back my ears wasn't correct. One year later and my ears are sticking out again. I wasted over $5,000. My post-op was, again, rushed and there was no consideration for my pain. While I understand that not all plastic surgeries go according to plan depending on how each body heals, this procedure was not done correctly and it was obvious until my last post-op that Dr. Bunkis knew that. I'm extremely frustrated and feeling insecure about my ears all over again. While I might be just another "out of sight, out of mind" patient for you, you've hurt my self-esteem, and I'm feeling anxious about my appearance all over again. So this review is a second review. I had implants removed and breast lift performed and it did not go well. My incisions opened up post surgery and were not able to be sealed and had to be opened up and healed with wet dressing. 7+ years later I have the absolute worst scars. They're purple and deep and a huge wide scar where the incision opened. They're beyond noticeable and a bathing suit is out of the question. My nipples are so high now so a push up bra or low cut shirts can't even happen. I was told in a few years everything would settle and scars be minimal. They are not. I can't even describe how insecure I am with my breast. I went back after 3 years and was quoted more money to fix his mistake. I am happy with my results. My insurance company made this more of a task for me that I feel it ever should have been. This is not the office's fault, however I will give my quick run down.... I was told by Aetna, that I needed to see one of there providers, of which two names were given. I went to one in Laguna Beach they tried to up-sell like and tell me how I should get these other procedures done. I reviewed their work and asked the simple question of how many belphs had they done. They could not answer and the pictures they had we obviously touched up. They claimed it was lighting..... I shopped around a bit and in Newport there is a lot to select from. Some of these guys state appointments months out and claimed it to be just that busy....come to find out some of these guys are not full time. So I went to Dr. Bunkis -- who is out of my network, but had really good pictures on his site. I asked him how many he did and had a full catalog of eyes, plus at-least two of his staffers. The results looked amazing. I considered the price difference from in network to out of network, then very quickly decided on Dr. Bunkis. Great guy, great personality, and a no BS personality. The answers were spot on, when I asked about what the Aetna Dr recommended, he quickly pointed out the flaws (ie feminizing the face ---as a guy NOT what I would want). I also asked about some other body work and he recommended a book by Ornish that gave some fixes via diet --- (actually he gave me his copy) --- It appears to work). Back to the procedure -- All good the surgical center was next door --- they were nice, and professional, very comfortable. The Anesthesiologist was easy going. Everything went as described. All good. Dr. Bunkis followed up over the weekend, gave me his cell phone number for any issues (of which I called and he answered). I was a bit nervous as after you do a bleph, you get a bit of distorted vision. Dr. Bunkis put my unease at rest. And here I am a few weeks later and my results look day and night better. The follow ups were little wait and very easy going. Collette and Jo have been awesome in helping me process the Aetna PPO self claim papers. Really good guys. Dr. Bunkis is very approachable and has an amazing story. I am very glad to have found him and am proud to give an endorsement of him to my friends. What could have made this better.....Well the office was near perfect.....Aenta on the other hand - not so much......I see why so few would be in there network. This was my first visit to Dr. Bunkis office in Newport Beach. The receptionist was very friendly and explained the procedure. I used Groupon and waited only a few minutes before going in. His Associate explained how the numbing cream worked and how the IPL was administered. The Dr. came in and explained everything in detail. The procedure only took about 10 minutes and was pain free. He said I should come back for two more sessions. He explained what to expect and how to treat my face. I was happy when I left thinking I would pay something for the procedure but it was free. The dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente found basal cell cancer on my left cheek just below my eye. It turned into a nightmare for me. I called Dr Bunkis sobbing from Kaiser Permanente he wanted to see me that very same day. We had to let the horrendous job done at Kaiser Permanente heal before we could start to repair my face. Needless to say Dr Bunkis took care of everything and I have one small surgery left. The repair included needing a lower facelift to pull my face back up where it belonged. I have paid this doctor over 20 grand for one botched boob job second that had a hematoma and led to capsular contracture and a nose job that made my nose look worse than before operated on. I wanted the bump taken out and the bump is in fact (don't ask me how this is possible) WORSE and more noticeable after surgery. I strongly recommend you take time when considering a surgeon and meet with multiple doctors and would advise you go elsewhere I have spent another 20 grand at a different doctor on a revision to fix the boob job and lift mess he created and now will probably have to spend another 12 grand on a revision rhinoplasty Not that I have the $ right now. Save your money and time and go see somewhere else. Thankfully my other doctor fixed my boobs and are perfect now have to find a revision rhinoplasty dr bc I feel more insecure than before surgery. I have spent over $25,000 elsewhere to attempt to fix his mistakes and still do not have great results. The only thing I can say positively about Orange County Plastic Surgery is that the staff and Dr. Bunkis are nice. Unfortunately, I went in for an IPL and Dr. Bunkis burned me so badly that I still have marks (what he called "brows") on my face. To add insult to injury, I went in to have him look at the burns and not only did he say it was normal (WHICH IT IS NOT.....I have had plenty of IPLs in my day), but he prescribed me a cream to put on them. This is my second IPL at this office. I've had plenty before and this was by far the worst experience I've had. My first time was with a nurse here and she was great. Took the time to evaluate me and see how much sun exposure I had and what level I needed for the IPL. Although I didn't get the results I wanted (no changes at all), I can now be thankful that I wasn't burned. This time, however, was a nightmare. They left me in the room to wait for the numbing ($20) to set in and forgot about me until I came out to ask them when I would be out of there. When the doctor finally came in he quickly shook my hand, didn't say anything else except if I had seen a difference from my last appointment. He didn't remove my numbing cream and said that he will up my laser level since I didn't see results last time. I asked if he could see the sun spots that I needed extra attention to and he said not unless he had his glasses on...are u serious? so he was working without having clear vision? GREAT, another red flag I foolishly ignored. He couldn't even see my skin!! And then he rushed through the entire process!! When he started zapping my forehead it hurt so bad and I asked him to stop but he said he would turn it down a notch. He kept zapping!!!! The pain was unbearable and I started CRYING! only then did he stop. While I was cleaning the numbing cream off my face, they gave me some cream to apply when I got home I asked the front desk lady (Tracy) and she said she usually leaves her numbing cream on. That is unheard of!!! I hope she wasn't lying just to cover up the doctors mistakes. Driving home my face was burning and I was in so much pain!!
