Tom Yum Soup
Ron R.

We sample Thai food everywhere we go and visited here while in the area. Sadly, they did not live up to their high average ratings. The atmosphere is eclectic to say the least with no consistent theming and the bathrooms had an odor of sewer gas. We tried to overlook that and hope for the best. Fortunately the food was flavorful, but sadly the portions were small given the price. A cup of soup for $8.95 is pretty steep. It was good, but not that good considering the size. The tea also tasted like some type of low cost instant tea. Sadly we would not return.

On this beautiful Saturday we decided to stop at Ginza for lunch. We got seated right away. near…read morewhere the sushi counter was. I couldn't believe how many people make sushi along with other dishes. Our sweet server Gabby, gave us lunch menus. I had green tea served in a little pot with extra tea bags and sugar. We noticed that the menu had changed a bit. Gabby told us that they added a few things from the dinner menu. So we started ordering. Steamed chicken dumplings, chicken katsu. Shrimp tempura, marinated snapper. Hibachi shrimp etc. Also shrimp with vegetable rice, Shrimp tempura roll, dynamite roll and David's favorite " the Bubba. Gump Roll",We ended with sharing fried cheesecake and that was something so delicious! Gabby helped us with our selections and we really enjoyed our lunch. The only negative thing I can think of is the loud music mixed with a lot of people talking lol! The portions might have been a little smaller but this gave us an opportunity to try different things. It was a great experience!

Where to eat special on a gorgeous Saturday? GINZA !!…read more So many nice options on the weekend $24.99 pp. On a newer menu. The Bubba Gump (8pc) is my new excellent. Additionally my lunch today had Yellowtail (raw)., Dynamite roll, shrimp roll, chicken Katsu, red snapper Teriyaki, Shrimp-veggie fried rice, shrimp tempura- fried (YUMMY) cheesecake- WHAT a FEAST! Small portions but mostly seafood and full but not high carbs. Need to have lunch here with my Yelp friends. More taste options to share. Our server, Gabby, did an excellent job keeping our hands and mouth busy. Primary negative- too noisy with music, cleanup crew constantly passing, the hubbub activity. The experience is always a taste treat.

The hibachi was SO GOOD. Tasted like authentic hibachi. Looks like it's really popular for take out also because there were a lot of people picking up orders. Good to know, especially after a Long Beach day.

I'm so sad we haven't been in sooner because it really is a hidden gem! The plates and rolls were priced well for the portion sizes! We got the krab rangoon to start (it comes with 5 big pieces) and they were delicious. For our entrees we got a kid's habachi plate and an adult habachi plate! I got two rolls: the rock n' roll and the Philly roll. I'd come back just for the rock n' roll. It was phenomenal! We ate until we were stuffed and still had leftovers to take home. It appears that this restaurant is family owned and operated by a young family. One of the owners stopped by our table with her baby to say hi which was so sweet. She brought by treats for our boys! It makes me emotional seeing young families pursuing their dreams. With the rising cost of goods, rent, and crazy overhead costs, restaurants are doing everything they can to survive. Give this place a try if you're looking for great sushi and Japanese food! You won't regret it!

This is my first visit to Mahi Sushi - Thai Cuisine and Pho. As I walked in, I quickly recalled I was here many times under a Mexican restaurant. The ambiance is well spaced out with many tables and a small Sushi Bar. One look at their Sushi Bar, I decided to forego the Pho and Panang Curry. Yes, there was one roll I recalled that was very popular here, Magic Eels. I normally have a Saporo or Kirin or Heineken with this dish but because of the cold weather I opted for a hot tea! The Magic Eel roll has the BBQ eel (Unagi) as its topping. This is cross between salmon and chicken without any fishiness. The meat is soft and fluffy with some tempura flakes for crunch and cream cheese for silkiness. Avocado and cucumber add freshness with a drizzle of eel sauce! I was in Seven Heaven! While the restaurant is named Mahi Sushi, it is a full-service Japanese and Thai spot with Pho! OMG, my excellent experience with Magic Eel will draw me back to Mahi Sushi forever!
