The playground is not covered completely, so bring the sunscreen. There is also limited seating near the playground with shade, so bring water as well. The playground has four kid swings, four toddler swings, a toddler playground and a big kid playground. AND, there's a nice cement path around the entire park and fields - seems like the ultimate spot to teach the kids to ride a bike. Love this place! Gave it four out of five stars due to the lack of shade.

There were always homeless people living in the park and it appeared old and rundown. But as I started to read more about it, I learned that it has a rich and important history here in the Valley. Eastlake Park was once called "Phoenix Park" in the early 1890s. The City of Phoenix purchased the park in 1914 and renamed it Eastlake Park. It was an important gathering place for African Americans in the early days because of segregation. Many Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth celebrations have taken place here over the years. It became a place of peace rather than confrontation. Today, Eastlake Park has a number of amenities. It has a baseball field named for former Diamondback pitcher Randy Johnson. It also has an amphitheater, a recreation hall, a peace memorial and a playground named after a pair of alligators that took refuge here. They have done a good job in making this a nice park over the years for people to enjoy while still honoring its past. Recently Phoenix and the NCAA teamed up to unveil the NCAA Men's Final Four Legacy Project. They did this during the 2024 NCAA Men's Final Four weekend that took place here in Phoenix. They refurbished both the indoor and outdoor basketball courts with new backboards, benches, bleachers, wall pads and hoops. A local artist painted a mural on the basketball court wall to pay tribute to the pioneers of Eastlake Park and its rich history.

My wife and I first spotted this neighborhood park on our way from our house to our friend's house…read more The incredible spider structure on the west side is what really drew us in because we thought our niece would really enjoy climbing it. This park is really nice. There is a huge grassy area from the main street all the way over to the side with the playground. The entire main playground structure and the spider structure are both covered with sunshades. Only the swings are offset and not entirely shaded. The ground is covered with a bouncy and soft kind of wood chip base and there are two picnic tables under ramadas and several benches in the play area for adults to relax and watch children at play. While we were there, two dads brought their kids to play. One family was from the neighborhood but the other had come from Mesa also. Really worth a drive if you're not in the area but have some little ones that love to run around and climb. I fully expect to be back soon with our niece.

Recently attended a softball tournament here. The fields looked pretty nice, but a lot of the girls…read moreslipped when they ran. It was a sunny day, so I'm not sure what was wrong with the field. They have plenty of benches at each field, but they're uncovered so watch out for flying softballs! We almost got hit by one from the field behind us. Definitely bringing umbrellas for protection next time. We were there for a few hours, so I had to use the bathroom a couple of times. The first time, the stall I went into ran out of toilet paper, but someone had left a bunch in there from another stall. There was only one sink, and the faucet is the kind that you press then let go and it should run for a short time. But this faucet stopped as soon as you let go. Fortunately I always carry hand sanitizer with me. Later I had to use the restroom again, and only the same stall was available. This time there was zero toilet paper. The bathroom was not like in the worst condition ever, but they should at least make sure the bathroom is stocked with toilet paper, especially when they know a tournament or other sports event is scheduled that day.

Me: "When will it open?" Pks&Rec: "Well - sometime in Aug" Me: "Aug? Aug when? There is no signage. Nothing." Two days ago I walked my dog at the main park, west of the pool facility, and fell in an unmarked irrigation hole. And let me tell you, these unmarked, uncapped voids are Everywhere. This set me back 6 wks into PT for my knee. It is literally too dangerous to walk thru the grass. The failure to maintain anything other than the soccer fields is a shame. Between the lack of upkeep& the homeless at the cabanas, Hobbs is doing a crap job with the parks.

3.5 stars This park…read moreisn't just a dog park. The soccor fields are massive and the fenced-in dog area is maybe a little less than half a soccor field. My only gripe is the insane distance between the parking lot and the small dog area. When I say it was a trek, it was a TREK...like 1/4 of a mile. By the time my dog got into the enclosure, he was already exhausted from zigzagging between me and the gate. With that said, there are 2 enclosures - one for big dogs and one for small dogs. The enclosure for the small dog area was nice and clean. The grass was pricklier than I'm used to, but quite nice. Highly recommend coming here if your dog loves to run.
