I've been attending this church since January of this year, and it's been a truly meaningful part of my life. As a single woman in my twenties who attends almost every Sunday, I come with an open heart, eager to listen to the word of God--and this church has consistently nurtured that desire. From the very beginning, I was struck by Pastor Jim's sincerity. He preaches directly from the Bible with clarity and conviction. In today's often politically charged world, I deeply appreciate that his sermons stay grounded in Scripture. Never once have I heard anything political --only the truth of God's word, delivered with honesty and compassion. Every person I've encountered here has been warm, welcoming, and kind. Even though walking with God can feel lonely at times--especially when you're doing it on your own--I have felt supported and encouraged by this community every step of the way. I'm beyond words after listening to sermons by this pastor. Preach the word and not the interpretation.... Your interpretation. We know the design for marriage. It is defined in God's word, I understand this. Are you suggesting people stay in abusive marriages? The abuser sees it one way and the victim another. There are so many comments you have made in the few sermons I have watched that are disturbing. You made comments about other pastors.... I visit Orchard Church on a irregular basis, usually on-line. I'm 85% sure you'll never find a more spunky, exuberant, full of energy, fueled-up on high-octane speaker such as, Pastor Jim. HOWEVER, his sermons are to predictable when it comes to his cute quips & funniness. Getting his flock to laugh is definitely high on his priority list. I find myself getting a bit bored with his favorite same ole', same ole' one-liners. I was especially disappointed that Pastor Jim did NOT mention out of SYMPATHY, COMPASSION, RESPECT & HONOR a single word about the murdered God-Loving, Charlie Kirk. I was not a follower of Charlie's but I know many people both young & old who were greatly impacted by him. Their lives, as well as MILLIONS around the world were changed for the better because of Charlie. NO!, Pastor Jim he was not 'an idol' as you mentioned but more like a prophet. Currently, I am not a member of this church. But I was interested in joining, so I listened to the service online today, Jan 26th, to get familiar with Pastor Jim. At the beginning of the year, (outside of church) I started reading the Bible. I am just finishing Genesis....and honestly, it has been very hard for me to listen to. It seems that women in early times were only valued for their beauty and how many children they could produce. It was extremely disheartening to hear this in the Bible, as women are soooo much more valuable in numerous ways!!! But then to hear Pastor Jim go on today about women's roles and responsibilities in the marriage, and being especially critical of women's faults, it just upset me all over again. He came across as very hyper-focused on women's shortcomings and made very few references to men's. Apparently women are supposed to stay in abusive marriages because it is a woman's responsibility to make the marriage work!!?? Never-mind the abuse they may be experiencing at home, either physically or mentally or both. We are also supposed to be respectful in tone to our husbands. But no mention of the things that men do which may lead to women being disrespectful in tone. The truth is, the reason women are choosing to leave their abusive, oftentimes cheating husbands is because we now have the means (financial means as a result of higher education) to do so. We don't stay in loveless / abusive marriages like women did 75 years ago, because we can leave these horrible marriages and find a better way of life and support ourselves! As far as speaking to our husbands with respect...of course we will do that, when they deserve our respect. And the same should be true of husbands...they should speak respectfully to their wives when they deserve respect. But the latter was not mentioned in your sermon today, Pastor Jim. Maybe if men were less concerned about valuing women's looks / beauty, while focusing almost entirely on sex, and they were more concerned about finding a partner who had things in common with them....we would not live in a society that valued sex and appearance over everything else! When men (since the dawn of time) make sex and beauty a commodity, then women will capitalize on it! Men have created the monster. As far as young men not wanting to get married these days....newsflash.....young women do not want to get married these days either, only to be treated as second-class citizens!! There are more young women than young men in college today. Maybe that's a phenomenon that should be examined. Women will continue to give themselves options so their only role in life doesn't have to mean being a wife and mother if they choose a different path for themselves. The truth is, the misogyny that came through in today's sermon was very offensive to me. So I've decided this is not the church for me. And it seems I was not the only one who felt the need to comment on the sermon today. In looking at the recent reviews, another woman who chose to speak up had similar concerns about today's message. read more

First, I am not writing this because I'm offended, but rather because I'm offering constructive criticism. This is simply an observation from my first visit to this church. I am someone who values critical thinking and the pursuit of truth and accuracy. While I already have a Christian church that I regularly attend, I decided to visit this one with a friend since she needed someone to go with her. I appreciated being greeted by the greeter and enjoyed the nicely printed sermon page available at the door. For that reason, I've rated this experience more than one star. However, there were a few things I found disturbing. For instance, when Pastor Jim made comments about women, I found them to be inaccurate generalizations. I didn't expect such remarks, especially since the sermon was about a godly woman. I have never heard a sermon on Abigail that included so many negative side-comments about women. What happened in his childhood or later in life that has led him to hold such animosity toward women? Jesus, the Son of God, loved and elevated women--not just those without a divorce on their resume. Pastor Jim said that women today, when faced with minor issues in marriage, will just leave. This was in the 12:30 pm service today, so I'm not sure if this was said in the other services. Women, by nature, are life-givers. We want families. We want homes. We want children. We don't expect a perfect man, but we do expect one who tries to take his marriage vows seriously. A woman with children won't walk away from a marriage easily, unless there is a serious issue. And not all men repent of their wrongdoings after marriage therapy or counseling or prayers. A good woman won't walk away unless the situation is truly destructive to her or her children, or unless there has been a major betrayal. Such a decision can cause her to lose friends, her mental health, and her social standing. It's not something women do lightly in general. There are some who do, though but that's not all. There was one woman who had seven husbands in the New Testament, but even she was met by Jesus (the Son of God) with love and kindness. Finally, Pastor Jim made some comments (during the 12:30 pm sermon) that were inappropriate for the children in the audience. I'm not easily offended by foul language or non-PG topics. I sat through some interesting comedy shows in my lifetime. I support free speech, but I believe a good speaker should be aware of his audience and their age. If the audience had been adults 18 and older, it would be one thing. But there were young children, as young as six years old, sitting right in front of me. Pastor Jim casually mentioned that we should look at the church app instead of "p***" on our phones. He said it so casually, as if men do this like they're just checking sports scores. He also referenced "O*** Fans" in the same casual tone, as if it were just a Netflix show. One person sitting in front of me had children in their row. Knowing your audience is crucial. If the audience were all adults, that's one thing, but even then, the underlying message was that "boys will be boys" and that women are really the problem. The message should be: "You're playing with fire. You're supporting an industry that's involved in the trafficking of minors and undermining God's design for what intimacy should be." Ironically, David (man and subject of the whole series) was a good king, but he wasn't perfect. He murdered a man (Uriah) who did nothing wrong simply because he wanted his wife as his own, and God wasn't happy with him. The only perfect King is Jesus. Attending church here has taught me that even though someone may read from the same ESV Bible version, it doesn't mean that our theology will be the same. I never went to Seminary, but I know that Jesus preached without prejudice toward any nationality or gender. "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." I have recently regularly started attending this church in the last month and had come a few times in the last year. I have in the last 15 years attended two other churches in the valley, where I was always blown away by the pastors and their sermons, but something was lacking or just missing for me in the church as a whole. I can fully appreciate that it may be that it wasn't the right time for me at those churches as well as personal observations in choices the churches made about various aspects of their leadership or ministries. The Orchard however, has proven to be a church where I finally feel a belonging. There isn't pressure or apathy from the leadership. The congregation is friendly, but not forced. Every pastor that has spoken at the pulpit has been sincere and genuine so far-and wonderfully human. The detail and thought put into various aspects of this church and what it offers is apparent, and for me appreciated. I am looking forward to my future with this church. read more

We just started attending orchard church a few weeks ago! The moment we walked in we were welcomed with nothing but kindness and compassion! The first day we brought our kids into the church and our little was having a fit. I got up to take him outside & as I was getting up one of the employees came up to me & informed me we did not have to leave. They didn't care if he was screaming I could sit back down. Obviously we stepped out but it was just the fact he took he took the time to come up to me & saw me struggling during the service! Now our little goes to the preschool program!! Every week we go I have grown closer and closer to god and in my faith. Pastor Jim speaks to me in his sermons and I have been able to gain so much knowledge just by his wisdom & words! This review only reflects my opinion of the messages of the church leadership and pastor and is not in regards to the attendees of the church, all of whom were welcoming and friendly when I went to service. If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ family, an ally, a feminist, or someone who does not believe in the necessity of traditional gender roles, then this church is not for you. The sermon shared by the pastor this past Sunday focused on the "correct" role a woman should have in her marriage and in life. From the start of the sermon, the pastor emphasized that marriage is between a man, who should be masculine, and a woman, who should be feminine, and he backed up this by sharing that the church was hosting a camping weekend for men, where they would be eating meat and taking part in "violent activities" and that the women could participate in their own separate event, a tea party. We then moved on to discussing the passage "God made wives to benefit their husbands. So, unless illegal, immoral, or unbiblical, they are to submit" with the pastor stating we should "circle the word submit". We covered that "A godly woman should have a humble and quiet" and in breaking news, the pastor next shared that there are no barriers to women holding any job in the workforce that they want, but that instead, women choose jobs that foster their natural instinct to build relationships and help others. This (male) pastor has clearly never been the only woman sitting in an engineering class, or been told that she can't submit a résumé to a certain company because they are "a boys club". Per this pastor's sermon, independent women with high powered careers should instead be more focused on their home lives and are selfish. We covered that the majority of divorces are women's faults and that although men are, and this is a direct quote, "r*t*rd*d, and I mean that as an insult," women should stick around and show forgiveness. Apparently, us women are much more forgiving with our friends than we are our husbands. I think he forgets to take into account that we do not share bank accounts, or households, or life's major responsibilities with our friends. A friend saying our shirt is ugly (an example used in the sermon) is not equivalent to a man cheating on his wife. I will concede that there were a few good points that I did take note of, such as that a marriage should be a team, and that you should try to live life tranquilly (although I know this review does not necessarily reflect that), but overall the sermon left me angry and sick to my stomach, concerned about the children in the audience and this kind of indoctrination. read more

I've heard a lot of "hype" about this church so wanted to check it out. They are doing a Fruit of the Spirit series and today was on kindness. The church starts with worship, baptism, sermon and communion. The worship and sermon were very "average". I didn't feel moved by either. The pastor is very repetitive and not inclusive in his sermons at all. He was talking about a man being kind to his wife and a wife being kind to their husband, over and over. He FINALLY mentioned kids at very end and one reference to neighbors. What about the widows, what about the young adults not married, what about those in relationship that haven't married yet, what about everyone ELSE that doesn't fit his "husband/wife" tiny little box he went over and over on? I walked out in awe at the end wondering what the "hype" is all about. Not a place I would return to. Just very generic and not inclusive at all with his sermon. Absolutely love this church family. Authentic, caring, and lovers of Jesus. I drive over an hour to get there from O.C. - Not many places have this kind of straightforward message out of scripture. Heart piercing. God moves my heart every time. Strong discipleship here; stellar Deacon ministry, military and first responders, prayer group, small groups, single parents, celebrate recovery, grief groups, tons of community outreach, women's, men's, awesome youth programs and children's ministries. This church is the real deal. Real people with real love for one another. It's been some time that I've been in attendance because I was in another state for like a year, and I arrived back in Temecula in the Covid summer and was sooooo impressed with how The Orchard has managed to still operate as a true service to the community during such a time of need. I had previously wrongly associated them with some other churches in the area that seemed too much like a biz or club. It's clearly not like that with The Orchard and all their staff and volunteers, and it shows even more during these challenging times how much they care. Sooooo, I had to come back and update my review to five stars. My family had attended The Orchard for a couple of years and were interested in membership. My daughters enjoyed the youth group and we enjoyed the services even though they are very law oriented. Then I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I called to get on the prayer list. I received no follow-up call or any support from the church. I then called to ask if a pastor could come to the house and marry us. Because my fiance moved in a couple of weeks before our planned nuptials the church refused. I asked if they would be available for family counseling or couples counseling and again they refused. My family was at that point without a church as I battled cancer. Again, no phone call, no letter in the mail, and no follow-up. I guess because we lived in sin for two weeks we were no longer their concern. The pastor I spoke to on the phone said he couldn't stand before the gates of heaven knowing he married someone that was living together before marriage (regardless of our 4 children and cancer). If you are perfect, sinless, blameless, and waited until marriage, or you just want to attend a service without the support of a church family this is the place for you!! Two years later I'm having a hard time attending a church without viewing it all as hypocrisy. I am cancer-free and still Christian, but this experience was very upsetting for my entire family. read more

My son and I are members here. We moved to Temecula 2 years ago and went to church after church looking for one that we liked and was a good fit. Finally, someone recommended The Orchard and we never looked elsewhere. Pastor Jim and his staff are amazing. He preaches from scripture with a sense of humor and holds us accountable for our actions. I seriously get something from every service. Recently joined the Women's Bible Study group on Tuesday evenings and have found an incredible group of supportive and enlightening women. My faith is stronger now than it has ever been and I am so excited to be a part of this great church! May I also add that Amanda's negative review of The Orchard doesn't make sense. The Orchard has my phone numbers and email address, and I have never had a call from them asking for money. The only emails I have received from them are to share good news, make announcements, etc. Never once have I received one asking for donations. I stumbled on this church about two months ago. I have to tell you, the first time I attended a morning service, I thought that something was a bit strange. Everybody was extremely nice, friendly and genuinely seemed to happy I was there ( I thought to myself this is a Stepford church). Most churches in the valley the people are somewhat friendly, but sad to say a bit cliquey and surfacey ( I know not proper grammar). I felt the teaching by the lead Pastor Jim Jackson was spot on ( expository, verse by verse) he made going through the scriptures thought provoking and enjoyable. What really got me hooked and excited about this church was the mid week in home bible studies, fortunately for me I happen to pick the best in home group, and the host were so loving and caring (ty, Luanne & Phil). I could go on for days, so if you're looking for a local small town home church look no further then The Orchard Church in Temecula, they have four services starting at 8:00 am up until 11:59. read more
