I don't usually write a review but I think this place deserves one. We had a wonderful experience! Tammy and Yen took great care of us, and we were really happy with the results. They're both very friendly and clearly take pride in their work. They took their time to make sure everything was perfect. I got a manicure and pedicure, and my friend got a manicure--we could tell they really knew what they were doing. Unlike other salons we've been to, there were no gaps along the edges of our nails. 0 stars if I had a chance. I live in the community and I booked an appointment on the phone for Friday at 3:30pm. I got there on time and told the woman I had a 3:30 appointment. She said ok. I sat for 15 mins until another woman walked in and said she had a 4pm appointment . Only then Is when the manager looked at the book and said, your appointment is tomorrow. Really ! After I sat for 15. Can't help but to think that she didn't want to take me, not an appointment mixup. Either way, not professional or reliable. My mom and I have been looking for a new salon and stopped here to give them a try. While the salon looks nice and the pedicure chairs are quite comfortable, we were very disappointed in the overall quality of the service and observations of the staff. When we arrived we indicated we wanted to have our pedicures together. We were told they would happen close in timing. The first available technician (Tech A) started on my pedicure and was done in less than 30 minutes (probably closer to 20) as there was nearly no foot massage or leg rub involved in the treatment. My pedicure was done before a second technician (Tech B) started my mom's pedicure. As such my mom was left waiting while I had a pedicure in full, and then I was left waiting while she received her pedicure. Prior to starting the process we had made it clear we'd rather return at an arranged (scheduled appointment) time than have awkward waiting periods. They promised profusely it would only be 5 minutes for the second technician to be ready. In total, both pedicures took less than 45 minutes. While I was waiting for my mom I observed Tech A return to her manicure station where she took an emory board from the drawer to scrub her feet. She then used the oil for hands on her feet with the same application brush that will eventually be used on a client's hands. After observing that I will definitely pass on a manicure at this place!! This salon is on the higher price range and it most certainly was a huge let down. read more

Do not come here for waxing. They said they waxed but the lady looked more lost than I was the first time i ever had a wax. She had no clue what she was doing, tore my skin and then said it was because of where my hand was (I have been having Brazilian waxes for over 5 years now every month and sometimes do it myself at home- I was not the cause of my torn skin) and she continued after the skin was torn but I was so numb from the repetitive unsuccessful attempts she went through that I almost didn't feel it. Now I am home and out of commission for a few days because I can not walk properly due to the sting. Worst waxing experience of my life! Also, she dipped the same stick in and out of the wax many times, and reused wax strips in different areas. All together an unsanitary and unnecessarily painful experience. read more

I've given this place several tries and each time I've experienced sub par customer service. I can't speak about most of their services as I keep my nails pretty basic, but for a $16 manicure I still think I overpaid for what I got and the way I was treated. In a nutshell, this is not the type of salon you'd expect in the trendy, chic neighborhood of Park Potomac. There are flies in this salon no matter the time of year and no one bothers to clean the fans that dry your nails. It's disgusting how much lint and dirt have accumulated on the fans. The customer service is not good either. When you walk in the door, you're either ignored or someone yells at you to "pick a color." You're given no direction as to where you should sit down after you've selected your polish; and if you happen to catch the staff while they are doing their own nails or something else, they are very slow to stop what they are doing and attend to you as the paying customer. They hired an employee who worked at another nail salon I sometimes go to whom I complained about when he worked there--the man has a problem with touching his face, nose, and mouth and then touching your hands and nails right afterwards. On my most recent visit, I asked a simple question about the price of my service and the owner snapped at me and said that I should know how much the service cost by now. Considering how I've only been there a handful of times and on this most recent visit, I brought my own polish and refused to have my cuticles cut, I just wanted to confirm that the manicure was the same price as last time. Rather than kindly saying so, the owner belittled me at the register. I will not go back here ever. They don't even offer you a beverage and they constantly have both the television and the radio playing which takes away from the serenity of getting your nails done. read more

Did I seriously just pay for this?????? Worst manicure EVER. The gentleman used a drill to remove my gel polish and absolutely ruined my nails. He left them rigid and grooved and then painted them. He didn't give each coat a chance to dry and it was totally uneven. I posted a picture to show what a shabby job was done. Hopefully this isn't the norm but I def would not go back. I have been coming to Orchid since it opened. I've tried quite a few techs with nothing but positive experiences. I especially love working with Tammy. All of my pedicures have included extensive foot and leg massages. I have special medical needs for cleanliness to avoid infection and I am very picky about where I go for my nails. Orchid is clean and professional, and always tend to my special needs. I am sure some of the negative reviews are fake. I watch what's going on throughout the salon and I have never seen anything but great results. As far as prices are concerned, Orchid is below the average cost for this area. I have been to this nail salon twice now. It is very clean, organized and the atmosphere is pretty. The location is a little hard to spot at first, as it's beneath an apartment/condo complex and sort of hidden next to a bridal store. Overall, I am satisfied with their service. Both times my nail tech was Catherine. She's very diligent and friendly to talk to. She did my manicure last Friday and today is Wednesday, and I have NO chips in my nailpolish!! Love this place. My first experience was 50/50. after making an appointment at 5:30 I was asked if i can reschedule because my tech needed to go to the temple to pray. I came in a few days later at 6:00, not only was my nail tech running late by 20 min but they were yelling at others and asked the receptionist to clean the floors. it was very disturbing to have so much commotion while trying to relax. then started talking to me about how they need to RUSH because they need to go to temple.... I have nothing against religion however if you are going to rush work to leave early perhaps you should not come to work at a conflicting time where it will hurt the business. my nails started chipping the next day. a few weeks later some people in the complex i live in complained of similar issues. this place is a DO NOT go to. read more

Worst manicure I've had in a while, and very expensive for a drop in place ($16). They put several coats of polish on without waiting for any to dry at all in between coats. It still wasn't dry two hours later, and I ended up scraping it off because the polish kept getting messed up. The polish was lumpy at the outset and didn't cover my whole nail. read more

Feel ripped off. They charged me an extra $20 for putting vinyllux nail polish, not a gel polish. Online the polish costs $7. There is a sign that says something and $10 below it that I didn't notice. I even asked her if I could pick from those; and she said yes. We both walked out with the polish bubbling, and cuts on our cuticles (from the nail technicians). The ladies who were giving us our manicures were extremely rude and rough with our hands. Had a 2:00 pm appointment for pedicure with Tammy today. Got there at 1:55 pm. Was told it would be about 15 minute wait. Sat in pedicure seat and began soaking feet. Was still waiting at 2:25 pm. Asked receptionist what was going on; got a meek explanation of how appointments got mixed up and Tammy was working on someone else. Offered another nail tech, but I wanted the pedicure done by who I booked with. By 2:30 pm, I dried off my feet, got up, and walked out. Tammy still working on other person. Not sure what really happened; but, I don't think this is a fair way to treat customers with an advance appointment at a specific time. I am a regular customer of Orchid Nails and live in the Condo building over it. I highly recommend it for manicures and pedicures. The place is always clean and the staff is friendly and courteous. I always call ahead and make an appointment so I can walk in and be taken care of immediately. Staff is very thorough and careful, especially when I get a pedicure - which includes a removal of summer calluses on my feet, and a leg massage. Pedicures last me a month! read more

I have excellent experience with Orchid Nails. Nice friendly staff, clean salon (they autoclave the instruments, which is very important for me), plenty of parking. I come there for manicure and pedicure on a regular basis, and foot massage occasionally. My nail technician is Tram, and she is fantastic - attentive to details, with lots of creative ideas and advice, and highest quality. She is always prompt and accommodating - I sometimes have do a lot of last minute scheduling changes. Tram does great job transforming my very mediocre nails into a piece of art. Every time I really love what I see, and also enjoy Tram's cheerful personality and sense of humor. Highly recommend. And by the way, Tram's foot massage is much better than in many foot spas! read more

Having been a loyal customer for many years, I finally had enough of the owner not running on time most of the time (15-20 minutes late), usually not calling either and/or if you called and asked told to come in, so to me, not very good at honoring appointments. Seems likes many of the staff do not speak the best English either therefore the owner has to answer the phone and book appointments while staff seems to just sit there doing nothing at times with headphones causing an interruption to your service. And I have been cut a few times leaving bleeding and sensitivity too, so technique a bit rough at times too. All in all, aesthetically a clean place and my nails looked fine aside from the cuts at times. However if you value your time, look elsewhere. Seems to be many ladies who go there with nothing much to do and attitudes too so if they show up late for their appointment before you, maybe entitlement attitude, you pay the price in terms of not having your service on time or within a few reasonable minutes. And depending on the owner's mood and how busy she is, depends on the time spent on the massage (not consistent). However, again, my nails looked good, got fed up with the attitude! read more

Went and got my eyebrows done here. They are totally uneven. One is shaped totally different than the other. And when I complained the lady yelled at me and told me its my fault.
