Was looking for a new place to get a pedicure. I don't do it often and am a bit picky! I live close by and decided to look into Kosmo Nail Bar. I read reviews and they're mostly great! I made an appointment online. Very easy. Picked which pedicure I wanted, any extras etc. they let me know that I would be emailed or texted to confirm which they did. Parking is ample and plenty! I parked right across from the salon. Upon entering it smells divine!!! Like lavender and lemongrass.. not sure what it was but it was so good ! Clean, elegant and quiet too. Not too big, not too small. My nail tech was Kristy. I showed her a picture of the toenail polish design that I wanted and she said "ok, I can do that for you". I chose the full moon pedicure that includes scrub, cream, paraffin wax and a 20 minute massage. It was wonderful and well needed !!! Kristy then began the nail polish and design. She took her time and even then she was quite fast. The design came out exactly as I'd asked. BEAUTIFUL!!! I was so happy and let her know. Kristy was kind and friendly throughout and so was the front desk assistant. There's an ATM inside for cash tip. I asked Kristy if she had other payment options (for tip only) and she shared her Venmo handle with me. Overall I was very very happy!! This is my second time here and I'm pleased with the service. I was a long time customer at Vivi Nail Spa up the street, until they closed. The previous owner is now at Kosmo so naturally I came here. I was a walk-in both times but will make an appointment next time. It was busy in here both times. Asked for Anna for repeat gel manicure and was told she's not available and that Lily would do my gel manicure. Lilly did it and somehow needed to give me 4 coats which was unnecessary and looked lumpy especially on my thumb. I complained about how it looked and she redid my thumb. The online booking service is easy, provides pricing information and helps you plan ahead. I walked in this afternoon and Dan was ready to seat me. Do not show up or book an appointment after 4 pm. Even if you book online and itemize what you're looking for in terms of design, style, and length. This place is Trap!!! I should have known better, the first time I book this place, the very next day my nail broke opening the door to my car... for 2 years I did not go back. 3 months ago I tried this place again because I saw the good reviews and they were featured on one episode of the Housewives of Potomac. I expected a quality service. Wrong!!! My 2nd experience was a 6 of 10. My last encounter was a 0 of 10. I really debated on sharing this experience but ultimately it should be known. I'm not a confrontational person but if this happens to someone else, the reaction might not be the same. I work till 5. My appt was at 5 pm. I skip lunch so I could leave and arrive on time. When I got there even tho I was forthcoming, I booked a appt for dip powder, design; extension and gel pedi, I was met with pressure to downgrade to no extensions because it was nearing closing time. The last time I went to as the last straw. I felt robbed and extorted because of the staff inability to communicate with me. My appointment again was at 5 pm. This place closes on paper at 7pm EST. I was there on time, we started with the gel pedi, they asked if it was ok to have someone else to do my hand nails, of course, I get it, no one wants to work over the clock but block off your appts accordingly to your staffs requests. The lady tell me because I have some natural nails ( meaning some nail shows over my skin) she would have to cut it off, I said no because I'm trying to grow my real nails, hence why I paid for dip powder to damage my natural nail beds less, she informed me she could NOT do extensions over my real nails, she would have to cut them off and started to talk to the nail tech in another language telling me it's not possible, and this isn't my first time getting nails, that's a lie, I can clearly and visually see she doesn't not want to do my nails, if I want extensions I need to cut off my nails was her response, so I told her it's ok, no extensions just color them any Color you want, paint them white if you want like my toes being done at the time. She tells me ok but no designs after I clearly booked an appt with designed accounted for. She said ok but simple design. I asked for a Glossy French tip, too much, I asked for star design too much, ok well then at that point, my extensions and nails were shaped stiletto. I got suckered in to getting extensions and shaped my nails by that point. The lady gets up and walks away after I showed her the designs and I told her just paint them any color she wants again as long as she does them properly, the receptionist comes and re tells me no designs can be done but at this point I'm upset because it's not my first time getting my nails done. Clearly, they were under staff, this lady did not want to do my nails from the beginning, but got force to do them, tired to lie to me and tell me she couldn't apply extensions on my natural nails unless she cut them off, when the lady gets up another guy Tom, sits down and takes over without telling me his willing to do whatever design till after the fact, (not fair to him honestly cus when I got there he was doing someone else's nails) he fix the job in terms of the nail shape cus the other lady did not wanna do my nails and it was a terrible job. But by that point I just wanted to get out of there. They never communicated until after Tom finished he was doing "designs". They offered me $20 off the bill after they suckered me into paying for dip extensions, shape and length. I declined because in my mind I got hassled for more. I have gotten my nails done at Kosmo's four times now and every experience has been a little different. I always get SNS dip powder and request nail art. On my fourth visit I learned if you want nail art, you have to request Trinh in the appointment notes. She is the top nail artist at the salon. She did my most recent manicure and I am really happy with the results. I like entering Kosmo's and seeing how clean and new everything looks. The salon has a great aesthetic. They do have two complimentary wines and bottled water to sip on during your visit. I have had 4 different nail techs and each one has taken a lot of time to make sure my nails are all shaped equally. I appreciate the attention to detail. My first nail tech attempted nail art on my nails and it was a little rough. I asked her to pick my base color and that color did not turn out well. Because the base color was so hideous, we ended up doing nail art on all my fingers instead of just two like I had planned. I ended up paying more money than I intended and was in the salon for 2 hours. My second visit I had Trinh and everything went really well. My third visit I had another nail tech and she did an ok job. My fourth visit I was given a nail tech that was able to do everything but the snowflake design, so I had to wait for Trinh to be available to finish my manicure. Then I was recommended to just request Trinh during my appointment to ensure my next visit goes smoothly, and I can get the design I want easily. This salon only accepts cash tips which is challenging for me. I wish they were more ok with accepting tips through Venmo. So make sure you have cash on hand, and I do hope they accept Venmo tips in the future. Since this salon is a little limited with the nail techs that can do nail art well, I am giving it 4 stars. However, if nail art is not your thing, all the nail techs will do a great job giving you a polished manicure. read more

I really didn't want to leave this review and literally waited weeks but my interactions with Rachel at the front desk have been distasteful and I won't come back. She refuses to acknowledge you if you are on a phone call when you walk in, even if she is on a phone call as well and standing right in front of her waiting for her to finish her call. She gets annoyed if you the customer are on the phone, period. Which is ironic because they routinely take phone calls in front of clients standing at the desk all the time. If that phone rings they are picking it up. Also if you are late she has a nasty-nice energy about it, although if you show up on time you are going to sit and wait anyways for a nail tech to be available. The rude energy is unnecessary for this type of business where women come to relax. No one wants to be met with this type of welcome at the door. The other day, I had an appt at 10:15 I came in at 10:24 and she refused to take me saying the computer automatically cancels the appointment after 10 minutes. lol. I'm guessing she thought my appointment was at 10 am but wouldn't give herself the opportunity to even think about what was happening. She was adamant about canceling the appointment and not servicing. If it's at 10.15 and I'm there at 10:24 that's less than your cut off time. She looked like she was ready to argue with me and it wasn't worth my time. Mind you, she asked me to wait on her to finish a phone call today before processing payment. The nails at kosmo are ok, I haven't seen any regular or creative design or anything inspiring. Probably because I don't ask for that. It's a good place for nice basic colors which is all I get anyways. I enjoy working with Linh, Dominique, Bella. Sadly I've referred many people over the time I've been coming and it's sad they all won't be bothering to come anymore. If this is how she treats loyal customers, then Rachel will strategically make sure she eventually gets rid of all the great customers one at a time for this business. I was surprised and happy they had an opening because every time I try to make an appointment they're usually booked. I was super excited to try this place. I've been to many nail salons and I'm super picky when it comes to nail treatments. This place is hands down THE BEST. It's not your typical nail salon set up - it's clean, beautiful, and sleek. My boyfriend and I came for pedicures. We opted for the margarita pedicure and it did not disappoint. I wish we had chosen a longer pedicure, but we'll definitely pick a different one when we come back. Our nail techs - Tammy and Nam were great. I actually enjoyed that they didn't try to make small talk, as I was trying to relax and nap. They did occasionally check in with us to make sure everything was okay, which my boyfriend and I appreciated. As a person who has friends that own nail salons in other states, my suggestion would be to get the name of your nail tech especially if you liked your service. Whenever you call to make your next appointment, request that nail tech so you aren't surprised or disappointed with the outcome. This location makes it easy for you because each nail tech has a name tag. So even if you haven't formed that bond with your nail tech and having a full blown therapy session, at least you'll know who to request for next time. I scheduled a last minute pedicure as a Mother's Day treat to myself. The scheduling process online was super easy. When I arrived I was warmly greeted, temperature checked and provided with hand sanitizer. Tammy is the tech who did my pedicure. She was warm and kind. Clean, professional and high quality mani-pedis! A little on the pricier side, but the service is miles better than any of the other salons along the Rockville Pike in this area. The salon is very soothing and well decorated, and the technicians are skilled. One star off only for the waxing experience. I tacked on a bikini wax the last time I was here for a pedicure, and was horrified when the technician began doing everything without gloves! When I asked her to wear some, she said they usually don't because the wax sticks to the gloves.... Not a valid excuse in my book, I've done waxing at other places and they ALWAYS wear gloves and manage to do a good job. She did eventually put on gloves though. She also poked my leg with scissors accidentally at one point, which to me is a sign of inexperience with waxing. The staff here are so sweet! From the moment I walked in I was offered water, had my coat hung and checked in on while I waited for my technician. Trinh did my nails and was meticulous. She did not skimp on any part of my treatment and took her time. Trinh impressed me with her attention to detail. As soon as a towel got wet, she immediately replaced it so I wouldn't get cold. She got a little dish for me to put my ring in while I got my manicure. She also stopped after painting my first nail to make sure I still liked the color (sometimes the color looks different in the bottle then on the nail). I would certainly go back! read more

I had my first experience at Kosmo in Rockville last night and loved every second! A friend and I made appointments for manicures ahead of time and they were ready right when we arrived. Both of us wanted a neutral chrome nail and we loved the final product!! The pics don't do it justice- I had bubble bath OPI as the base with chrome on top and it turned out very pretty. I really appreciated how attentive the manicurists were and the time they spent on my nails. So many nail places try to rush you in and out as fast as possible, but I didn't feel this way here. They took ample time to trim my cuticles, shape my nails to my liking, and meticulously apply polish and chrome. It was worth every penny. I payed an extra $15 for chrome, which seems a little bit steep to me, but I love the result so it was worth it. My nail technician rushed through it and was very rough with my nails. I messaged Kosmo and they offered a 20% discount on the next service. Unfortunately this first service I got was not worth my time, money or the pain. I'd rather go to a place that doesn't treat the customer like they're a waste of time. I get that technicians have a lot of customers to go through and they need to speed through --- but doing a whack ass job and leaving cuts on the customers nail is not the way to go. I was able to schedule an appointment online which is SUPER convenient. Upon entering, I was able to see that there was a lot of thought put into the design of the space. It feels modern, sleek, and clean inside. It's definitely one of the more updated nail salons that I've been to and it feels very comfortable inside. I've been going to Kosmo since 2021 and have never been disappointed. I've been seeing April since March 2023 and she never fails to impress!! I almost always get SNS dip w/ extensions, and I will say, they're not cheap. But they're definitely worth the price, and their loyalty program is a pretty good deal. April has really good attention to detail and is very meticulous with each set. I'd say all the sets pictured have lasted at least 2 weeks, if not longer. Went to Kosmo today for a basic manicure. I made an appointment and was 10 minutes early and they sat me right away. My nail tech was very thorough but quiet - didn't really ask me anything other than the shape I wanted my nails. Not even sure her name! I saw there was water and wine available but wasn't ever offered to me and I don't tend to be the person to ask. please note this salon only provides sns/dip powder service and gel services. the customer service is amazing. i don't necessarily recommend this place for pedicures. my technician was mindy and she did a horrible job. the shape isn't correct and the polish is lumpy. i had to keep telling her spots that she missed and i hate doing that. the water was lukewarm at best, there was no massage and no proper cleaning of my cuticles. my nail artist was lilly and she did pretty good. it's unfortunate because i just moved to the area and i'm getting married in friday. i'm not satisfied with the services i received and will not be returning. Ahhh! I love this place! So clean and aesthetically pleasing. The techs and staff were kind. They got us in on short notice while we were in the area and they were very attentive. The ONLY downfall is that they use the drill to take off gel, which is never the best option for healthy nails, but sadly many places use the drill because it's quicker than soaking and scraping. That's the only negative thing... Everything else was wonderful. My pedi and gel mani were very enjoyable. I forgot my tech's name but she was so sweet and friendly. The inside is really clean and it seems very well kept, with a ton of activity going on, even in the closing hour on a random Tuesday evening. The technician who was assigned to me did exactly what I was hoping for in my gel nail request (with some glitter, since I couldn't do a true fade without going the dip route); however, for being just over one week out and having a chip/lift on one of my nails + other chips/lift on another a few days later, I wouldn't say I would go back to this salon, even as convenient as they are...! For the price you pay for a gel mani + add on ($48), I have higher expectations for quality/how long lasting it should be. read more
