This is my first ever yelp review, and it's because I love this place so much. I have now gone three times for a gel manicure, and the ladies took their time and were incredibly thorough on the prep, gently removed the previous gel without damaging my nails, and just generally did an incredible job. All of my sets lasted close to a month with little to no chipping until the last week. The only reason I had to get a new set was how grown out they were! I also got a gel pedicure two months ago that hasn't chipped at all. Overall, the most long lasting gel I've had in the DMV area. Wonderful service, clean location, and stellar results. I had the worst service at this salon, I booked an appointment online but received a call asking if I could come in an hour after the original time. We arrived 30 minutes before the appointment. It wasn't crowded, however all the nail techs were busy I thought after 20 minutes of waiting someone could of said it was better to cancel or start removing our gel polish. After an hour of waiting no one said anything to us, also we were the only customers waiting for our turn. Finally, I asked if anyone was going help us. Cong was super careful and paid extra attention to detail to the nai shape and even helped me pick a color when I told her I wanted a natural sheer pink. I love it!! read more

Nancy is super efficient and quick and I appreciated that. I went in-person to book an appointment the day prior and when I arrived the next day, she was the only person there and ready to go. I asked for a french gel manicure and it took around 30-40 minutes. The nail salon is clean and well-lit with easygoing soft piano instrumental playing on the radio. The only complaint I have is that her accuracy on painting my middle finger's french tip is a bit off (see photos). Overall, still gorgeous and I'm happy despite that detail. Oh. After painting my nails, she slathered both my hands with this mysterious oil and I'm not sure if she is hard of hearing or didn't know, but she smile shrugged/dodged the question when I asked what the oil was. I was thoroughly impressed with my experience here! I was worried my reference photo would be too complex or time-consuming seeing as I had a late appointment. But Chanh Le did an exceptional job! The cookie on top was how affordable it was. I will definitely be back. My only note would be that they use latex gloves, so if you have an allergy, be sure to let them know. During my first visit to this salon, I requested a manicure and pedicure. Within 5 minutes of my pedicure, as the staff member was trimming my toenails, she cut one of my toenails so low that it began bleeding. And as I looked in horror, she kept working and did not even look up or stop. I motioned with my hands to stop working and pointed to the injured toe. She did not speak English well, so I spoke to the staff member who was working on my hands. I told her that I needed to put medicine on it- thankfully I had Neosporin in my purse- and requested that another staff member finish the job. I was really disturbed that they took it very lightly. Their attitude appeared to be - Sorry, it happened but let's move on. What if I was diabetic? What if an infection set in? It was poor customer service and poor craftsmanship. I would not recommend this salon and strongly encourage management to make sure this staff member receives proper training. read more

I came for a walk in gel manicure here. Service from the moment I walked in the door was subpar - no greeting or any indication of where I should sit. Once I was eventually seated, the lady who started doing my nails was distracted the whole time. She was moving very quickly, which isn't a problem if she were simply efficient - but her movements on my hands felt reckless, and she wasn't even looking at my hands when she was trimming my cuticles. She ended up cutting into my nail bed while trimming my cuticles. I winced in pain & asked her to please be careful. She laughed and kept going. I told her to stop once I noticed my finger had started bleeding, and I went to wash my hands. I stated I'd like to stop this service since she had injured me and my finger was too bloody to continue with the manicure safely, regardless. She tried to charge me $30 for the manicure, saying she's giving me a $5 "discount" from the usual $35 for the inconvenience. Given the injury & bleeding finger I was forced to walk out with, along with the fact all she had done was filed my nails & unsuccessfully "trimmed" my cuticles, I refused to pay the full amount. We settled on a discounted amount, but given the recklessness & complete apathy from this employee, I should not have been charged at all. I would highly dissuade anyone from coming here. I haven't had my nails done since February 2020 (pre-pandemic) and now that I'm fully vaccinated, I decided to head to La Vie Nails for a gel manicure and an eyebrow wax. The salon is very clean and they take COVID precautions very seriously. Masks are required of all guests receiving services and everyone was wearing a mask. There is hand sanitizer everywhere, each technician is wearing a mask (or two!) and gloves as they do your service, and there are plexiglass screens between you and your nail tech. They are also very reasonably priced for gel manicure ($30) plus there are specials if you do a mani/pedi to save even more. For the eyebrow waxing room, there was hand sanitizer available and my technician was double masked the entire time (as was I!). This was my first time at La Vie and I definitely will be back. I was very nervous about going back into a salon, but the staff was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome in the space. I felt at ease during my entire visit because of their protocols. My gel manicure came out amazing as did my eyebrow wax, especially since I was in maintenance mode for over a year! I highly recommend La Vie for your next manicure, pedicure, and wax! 10/10! read more

I have been doing eyelash extensions many times. But this time is the worst!!!! Read before you step in this shop! I have been doing lashes for years. I had done lash extensions here for the first time and I am so disappointed. What they did to me after my lash extensions was done was to glue all my single lashes to together in one piece without asking me!! I told them I don't like it at all. I came back on the second day to make appointment to fix my lashes, they just kept pushing me to the next time and didn't put me down in the schedule. So I came back again on the 3rd day to fix my lashes, they said they will remove it for me and refund the money which not want I asked for at the first place. I don't understand why they talk like shit to me?! I was so tired talking to them. After I removed the lash extensions with glue all my lashes, then they want to charge me another $15 again which is not fair to me!! 1. I know the process of doing eye lash extensions need to glue fake lash to real lash but NOT putting glue all over every single lashes to make it stick together as one thing 2. I have never glued all the lash extensions together. It made my eyes swollen 3. "Don't come back here" is what staff said to me 4. "You chose cheap lashes, it will be like this" NO, I didn't choose cheapest lash! I did ask "Do you have another choices for me? " and she doesn't understand English at all. This was absolutely the worst experience I've had at a nail salon. I called in to make an appointment told them exactly what I wanted, pedicure, gel manicure with nail designs. Within 2 days the polish is coming off of my nails. Not sure if it's the quality of the polish or how it was applied but other salons the polish at least stays on for 3-4 weeks. 2 days is ridiculous! the polish didn't cover my full nail, they had to re-do at least one nail, I didn't have time to get the others, fixed. When It was time for the design, she pulled her phone out and using a translation software typed that she doesn't design, and her designer is busy. I told her I requested that when I made the appointment. I guess they only have one designer. That should've been communicated when I called to make the appointment and I asked about designs, I specifically asked if they could do designs. So she asked if I could wait. The designer was working with another appointment and left that woman to come do my designs. She asked one of the other ladies who was lounging around if she could do it because she had to get back to her customer, and she said no. This was completely unprofessional. I shouldn't have had to pay for this shoddy service. I will never go back and telling all I know don't waste your time or money. Absolutely horrible. I live around the block and was so excited to try this place. I visited La Vie on a Sunday afternoon as a walk-in. They requested I return 3 hours later considering they only had 2 employees, which wasn't a problem for me. I wanted a gel manicure, pedicure and eyebrows waxed. I wanted a standard pedicure with polish. When I got my toes done, the employee completed my toes without any color. After the fact, she said "oh that's gel color," so the finds a similar color. Unbeknownst to me, the color was so off. She painted on top the clear coat, and I expressed I wanted a color change after she finished one foot. I pick out another color, and she paints over the undesirable color (this is the second paint-over correction). I asked "should you paint over that?" Because that's never happened to me before. And she completely SNAPS at me. She throws he hands in the air and said "Ughhh, it's okay. You don't need to clean it." And keeps painting over them while I said "Um I don't like that...." She rushed through the end, leaving an uneven spot on my big toe. After that, I said I wasn't comfortable having her handle my hands and eyebrows and couldn't tolerate staying longer. read more

This was my first time coming to this salon. I made an appointment because it was recommended I do so. My appointment was 2pm. I arrived a couple minutes before. There were only three people working there and they had clients they were working on. I was told to pick a color and wait. I chose a color and sat and waited for quite a while. Finally a technician was ready for me. As she was doing my nails I ended up not liking the color because it had sparkles in it. She had just dipped two nails only one time when I told her it really wasn't what I wanted. So, we looked again and I was given some samples to look through. I chose another but that ended up with sparkles as well. I could not see them in the samples but in the powder itself. So, I finally chose one that worked. The technician, Julie, seemed impatient that I was trying to find the correct color for me and made a comment about I was choosing these colors, like it was my fault. Perhaps so, but I was paying her to help me do my nails. Then she suddenly got up and took another client in a room and was gone for quite some time. I had no idea what she was doing and she didn't say anything about her coming back or that she had to do something. It was just weird and uncomfortable and the communication really lacked. So, I sat there until she finally came back. She did do a nice job with my nails, but when I got home, I noticed that one nail that had to have a tip has a dent in it. It was filed too much and the nail apex now has a divet instead of a smooth arch. I've attached some pictures. I may come back but it would be nice to go to a salon where they communicate with you and are more helpful in choosing a color. Manicures are expensive and choosing a color can be stressful. More courtesy from the staff would be helpful. read more
