Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. After my second visit to this salon, I realized the owner (woman) is a racist and blatantly despises black women. She accused me of being another black woman who she said always causes problems and all over nail polish. UNBELIEVABLE to say the least. She said that women like me always cause problems after the nail service by messing up our nails right after they're done and asking for help to fix the nail. I was completely taken aback by her comments because they were racist, derogatory, unprofessional, and ridiculous. Whether she was having a bad day, which seemed apparent, this type of unprofessionalism will never be tolerable in my book. The owner, an Asian woman, said to me that women like me are never satisfied. Mind you, she started saying all this when she asked me to pay for the $26 fill-in and new polish service I came in for before she began polishing my nails. I told her that I usually pay after the completion of the services I came in for. I honestly felt that she was accusing me of "dining and dashing" if you will which was totally not the case at all. I CANNOT believe the blatant bigotry and discrimination. She then snatched my polish that I brought in and aggressively began polishing my nails BUT not after she LITERALLY spent 10 min (felt like 30 min) chastising me that I should pay before she paints my nails because she swears that she's sees women like me before who have hassled her after messing up the polish when it's been done and that she will not repolish my nails if I mess my nails up. I explained to her, the owner, that not only was what she saying disrespectful, derogatory, rude, and racist, but that I was completely uncomfortable with her antagonism. There were other customers around me who literally asked her, is this how she runs a business by speaking poorly to her customers like this? Finally, after I asked her to stop and told her that her behavior was out of line and to finish the job so that I can pay, she stopped. I patiently sat there disgusted after being verbally disrespected and deliberately chose to maintain my calm. I wanted to show her, the owner, that black women are not like her in being disrespectful, derogatory, rude, or racist. I do not divulge in juvenile behavior when confronted by foolishness. After paying, I vowed to never return. I was embarrassed by her actions towards me as a black woman and being the only black woman in the salon that afternoon. She made me feel like I was a second class citizen and that I was some filth vagabond from the street. What she failed to realize is that I had every intention on leaving happy, with a large tip as I did my first visit, and with a good taste in my mouth BUT instead, I left knowing that I would never give my money to her business ever again. I'm leaving this review because after a few days, I'm still disturbed by her racist behavior and comments and unprofessional behavior towards me. Thankfully, I've found a new salon that I'm happy to call home. If I could give 0 stars I would. The service is horrible ! I asked for a gel manicure because I have been growing my natural nails and the nail tech seems to think he heard full set! And chopped off all my natural nails ! Meanwhile another customer was getting her pedicure done and heard me say gel manicure. The owner tired to say we can add a tip but youd have to pay 40 dollars ! Wtf ! In what world does it make sense that I should have to pay you more to fix your mistake ! A gel manicure is $25. First off I wanted my natural nails..but you cut them off then proceeded to say oh it will be $25 to put on a tip without gel....now your trying to give me fake nails and no gel ?! That's everything I didn't want! Then has the nerve to be like we can make it gel for $40. If it wasn't for your mistake cutting off my nails I wouldn't need acryllics ! So I definitely shouldn't have to pay an extra $15. I will not be returning to that nail salon and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. They just ruined my nails then tried to make it seem like it was my fault. Disrespectful. Like at least own up to your mistake people. Look at my nails. read more

Wow. You ladies need to check this place out. It's small but very clean and they have so many types of services, including waxing, facial, and massages. They have new OPI, Gelish, Shellac, and Pink & White for your nails services. I just got a job offered in downtown Silver Spring and I need to look for my new nail place. So I checked out the review on yelp.com and saw Orchid Nails with four star ratings. Then I called to schedule an appointment. I got there five minute early and lucky for me, I don't have to wait. I got my new Axxium OPI gel color done with Laura and she is excellent. The technicians are very friendly and they have deep knowledge of what they're doing. I highly encourage you to try this place out if you live or work in the downtwon Silver Spring area. I will definitely come back to Orchid Nails. read more

DO NOT COME HERE FOR ACRYLICS.. if you do ask for Lily at least they'll make it through the week. If theyre done by Tommy they will start falling off like press-ons after 2-3 DAYS (I have an office job, and Im careful with my nails.) They also change the prices at whim by $3-$5 & nickle and dime depending on shape of nail, trim down, ECT. get a basic mani- pedi if u insist but their polish is watered down so it will chip within a few days. I've been going to this shop for about 5 solid years. Haven't found a better place and I'm traveling from Rockville. So that says a lot in itself. Eyelashes, manicure, pedicure, eyebrows!! Everything is excellent. My gel manicure always lasts. Eyelashes last the few times I've gotten them done, and pedicure lasts for about 3 weeks. Favorite place to get my nails done! I have gone three times, each visit with Cathy, and have never been disappointed! She is very friendly and defiantly knows what shes doing. I have gone into the store not knowing what color I wanted but have left every time satisfied with what she helped me choose. This company is not good. I went in on Friday the 15th and paid 81 dollars. Tommy did my nails and after couple of days gel polish chipping. I called and Laura said they would do over they than tried to charge 50 percent off. The worst customer service ever!!!!! read more
