I tried this place due to the many 5star reviews. I was hoping for it to be good so I have a go-to place for cupcakes. The presentation was mouthwatering and pretty to look at. Big disappointment though, the red velvet and vanilla cupcakes were so hard and dry. Heated it up for 30 seconds and it was still hard then added another extra 30 seconds. Finally it was soft, but still very much on the dry side. They probably left the cupcakes in for too long. However, the brownies were semi-good, but hard on the outer parameters. I prefer brownies and cupcakes to be soft and moist all around. I wanted to give this place 1 star, but I'm feeling kind today. If you're looking for moist cupcakes then I don't recommend this place. read more

I came in on July 1st looking for a Birthday cake for my boyfriend. We last minute, came back into town for a celebratory BBQ and I needed a cake for the party. I usually stay away from pre-made cakes from bakeries because they are usually really dry but we were all getting together in just a few hours. I purchased for $25 the tallest double chocolate 8" cake (it was HUGE) and it was by far the best cake I have ever had in Orcutt/Santa Maria. So moist and beautifully rich. Called 3 days in a row, finally got an answer on day 3. This person told me that "you could place he order via message and pay with me. BUT the item you want is too complicated. And besides we are booked now." Rude all the way around. Entirely unprofessional. No sense of customer service. This place is great for our area. Bought a dozen including every cupcake flavor, apple strudle bar, and pumpkin bar for my fiance's birthday and she loved them all. Her ultimate favorite was the apple strudle. My little ones and My Favorite was the Pumkin Bar. We will def. be coming back. The only complaint is the price. This must be the only bakery in town since there are 5 star reviews for it. The staff is extremely rude, they are often "sold out" of special orders (how do you do that--it's a special order for a different day), and the snickerdoodle cake we got was dry and didn't taste anything like a snickerdoodle. It tasted like they took their base cake for carrot cake and just didn't do any of the add-ins. I tried and tried to taste cinnamon, but it just wasn't there. The buttercream frosting is sweet, but the cream cheese filling was just blah. Combine that with the rude service and looks like I'll be driving to Pismo in the future to get cakes. read more

This is by far the best bakery I have ever been too in Orcutt/Santa Maria. The cakes are tender, moist and flavorful. The buttercream is made with real butter not shortening. They have a nice selection if you arrive early. Only one negative, the owner is very unfriendly. It's a good thing the baked goods are yummy. read more

There is nothing better then a "made from scratch" cupcake that doesn't taste like the cookie cutter grocery store cupcakes. This is one of those places. I bought some cupcakes to bring to a girls night and I was so pleased with them. I bought the Angel Food cupcake, a chocolate, vanilla bean and a lemon (I think?) Omg...sooooo delicious. They were moist and rich but not overly sweet. The angel food cake one was a hit topped with a fresh strawberry...mmmm! They truly tasted homemade and full of love. The atmosphere is quaint and shabby chic. It was a tad bare but less cluttered is nice :) I loved the logo's design and the box customized with their logo instead of a generic box. Prices are I would say average for a private scratch made cupcake ($2.00+ per cupcake) but your paying for a quality! If you think that's steep your probably an Albertson's bakery regular....what a shame. I'll be back again and again and again!! :) read more

The brownie was delicious, cakey but also fudgey. Very fresh. The mini-cheesecake was lighter than we like, kinda whipped and egg-whitey. Or it may have been just underbaked. The brown butter chocolate chip cookie was WOW, still warm from the oven. The cookies & cream cupcake did not have the right type of icing. It should have buttercream or something close to what is in the middle of an oreo cookie. This was more like meringue....whipped and wet and eggy, totally wrong for this type of cupcake. I went to Orcutt Bakery to get a desert for my birthday. I had never been in before so I had no idea what to expect. The nice lady greeted me at the counter and explained that the cakes in the cases were for sale as well as cupcakes, mini cheesecakes, brownies and cookies. They offer a package deal of 12 mix and match items for 25$. I decided to do an assortment of mini cheesecakes and cupcakes. TheIr cupcake flavor choices are delicious. I got 2 blackberry vanilla, 2 carrot cake, 2 cookies and cream, 2 lemon cupcakes. I also got 2 raspberry swirl cheesecakes and 2 caramel swirl cheesecakes. Upon trying one of the cookies and cream cupcakes I was floored at how completely delicious it was. The flavor of cookies and cream was perfect and the cupcake is one of the best I have ever eaten. My mom had one of the lemon cupcakes and she said it was the best she ever had. I haven't tried all of the flavors yet but I am beyond happy with how delicious they are. This town has pretty much only had one bakery and I've always said we need a cupcake shop. This place is perfect. Not too big. Not too small. They handle fondant cakes that are really a speciality item that if you know anything about fondant the better you are with it, you're really an artist. I respect a baker that do good work with fondant. We picked out pretty much one of everything which is funny because I don't really have a sweet tooth, only my husband. I can take or leave sugar. We purchased cupcakes, mini cheesecakes which btw would be perfect for a party, and the croissant cinnamon roll. Then we tasted everything like we were tasting for a wedding tasting (reminded us 25 years ago lol) the coconut cupcake was probably my favorite and chocolate my husbands. Mind you I had only a tiny bite of each and husband a good chunk of each lol. There's still a lot left in the fridge. I would recommend to anyone.
