What sold me on Sweet Pea Bakery in Arroyo Grande is its variety of flavors with offerings that change daily and the option for regular and mini sized cupcakes so you can try different flavors. I figured four regulars which actually aren't that big and 2 minis to share over 2 days would be perfect. As soon as I had my first bite of the raspberry champagne, I regretted not getting more especially since they were closed the rest of our stay. Whereas most cupcake frostings are so sweet, I wipe off 3/4 of it before eating, these had the perfect sweetness not to overpower the flavor it gives the base. First choice of Raspberry champagne that thankfully I got 2 so I didn't have to share, with salted caramel a close second, peanut butter chocolate and mini cookies and cream tied, and a pass on the mini lemon in the future. Went back twice 3 months later for champagne strawberry, more salted caramel, and peanut butter chocolate and discovered another favorite, the s'mores that I had to get another the next day. Two months later, a full dozen including 4 raspberry champagne, 6 s'mores, 1 salted caramel, and 1 chocolate strawberry to bring back. Yep, I'm a fan. Note: Champagne ones are only available about once every 3-4 weeks unless someone special orders and they make extras.

The workers behind the counter are very nice and seem happy. The quick walk in and go is convenient. If you have been here before be aware that even though the pastry is good it has lost its freshness that it had a year ago and more. The fairy buns have lost a lot of their flavor. The scones have become even more dry. It'd be nice for them to rehire whoever they have lost that resulted in the reduction of quality.

We stopped by to pick up some macarons but unfortunately they didn't have time to make any that day (before Easter). I ended up picking up some mini cupcakes instead. We got a regular size lemon, 2 mini red velvets and 2 salted caramel. The mini cupcakes were tasty little bites and we enjoyed them. The lemon was dense, more cornbread like but had great lemon flavor with lemon curd. Overall delicious treats.

Tuesday is Gluten Free Day. Missed it, but they had some GF treats. The staff was friendly and the ship smelled like haven't. A great place to go while your waiting for your car at the car wash. Everything in the store looked well taken care of and replenished quickly. You can call in for orders. I would give more stars but have to taste the amazing creations first.

I love love love this little bakery. The cupcakes here are delicious, the icing is sooo buttery and thick, the cake is moist and perfect. The decor is simple and sweet with a European vibe. There's a few bakeries in town but based on the cupcakes alone, this one is definitely my favorite!

Excellent sweet service immediately. Vegan Maple Oatmeal Cookies? yes, please! Mini cupcakes for a bite of sweet pizazz? Absolutely! So glad I popped into the Sweet Pea. Charming Shoppe, clean, fresh, not over-decorated, just great aromas of fresh baked basics & delights. Exactly what you're looking for in a good bakery; delicious baked goods! I brought home 4 minis: Lemon so sweet & tart, the S'mores, oh my gosh, ooey-gooey chocolate deliciousness, the Red Velvet & Tiramisu. All very good!! Also tried a vegan cookie - Maple Oatmeal Delicious. And tomorrow I'll have a Biscotti with my coffee. Great little gem - check it out! I'll be back for a wedding order soon.

Half of my little one's flakey, buttery breakfast croissant, which he gave me a moment to photograph, before devouring the remainder of it.

    Do you make wedding cakes?

Hi Jenny! Unfortunately we don’t make any full-sized cakes, including wedding cakes, just cupcakes. We do have a lot of customers order cupcakes and/or cookies for their wedding from us. Thanks for thinking of us!

Nearby parking can be tough, even in the paid lots, but we were able to find a place kiddy corner from the store. Seating is outside and is limited, but we lucked out and a table opened as soon as we were getting ready to sit down. Grab a couple extra napkins to wipe the table, because as I mentioned they're very busy so it doesn't seem they get to cleaning the tables often. Nothing gross, but not freshly wiped either. This place was very packed in the afternoon -- the line was out the door but moved really fast. When you walk inside, you get hit by the smell of fresh cinnamon rolls and you can see the workers making it fresh. We ordered the following items: 1. Pecan roll: 9/10 This was sooo delicious. I had expected the cinnamon rolls to be better but this was actually the highlight. The dough was flakier and softer than the cinnamon roll and the fresh pecans were so delicious. It wasn't too sweet which I appreciate. 2. Cinnamon roll: 6/10 This was pretty good but I expected more cinnamon flavor in the dough so I was a bit disappointed. The dough was a bit harder as well and it wasn't too sweet, maybe the one with cream cheese frosting would taste better. Overall, this was super delicious and worth it. Portions were huge and it's quite filling.

We stopped by after the weekend up in Paso Robles for wine tasting and SLO town. It was still early so the town was pretty mellow and starting to open up. Well, this place was very lively and packed when we arrived. They have patio seating with some table's available but once you walk inside, the place was packed. All the tables and seat were utilized with people enjoying their meal and a cup of coffee. And a line forming for ordering. I've only had their drinks and pastries but they do offer food. Seeing what was being picked up and taken back to their seats, everything looked amazing. The open sandwiches, a must try next time we're here. But I was there for one thing, the scones.
