We had a lovely lunch at Ore after touring Versailles. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the beef tartare - simply delectable. Ore's kids menu is outstanding too - albeit the dishes may be a bit too refined for a child's palette. What keeps Ore from being a 5 star meal however is for the price, I expected the service to be a bit more refined and the ambiance is devoid of any sense that you are actually eating in Versailles, which is unfortunate. I expected the restaurant to take on more of Versailles' personality. Nonetheless, the kitchen turned out delicious food and the meal did not disappoint.

Exceptional in every aspect as it should be for a restaurant housed at Versailles! What a wonderful way to end a day of touring. Atmosphere is gilded and beautiful with unique objects and features everywhere you look but not overdone or pretentious at all. Definitely book ahead. The price fix - basically 3 courses with amuse - was divine and they will make accommodations for dietary needs. Food was filling but not heavy and just great all around. The bread is to die for. Love that wine was included too. Loved it and highly recommend if in the area.

Came to Chateau de Versailles today and got an invite for lunch here. It is a high end Michelin star French cuisine I was told. We ordered the tasting menu - 1 starter, 1 main and 1 dessert. Very very delicate and flavors were interesting. Love it. Especially love the Roasted guinea fowl, leg confit with jus, carrots and soft tops crushed. Highly recommend

View from Ore-Ducasse in the palace of Versailles

We had an all-day private tour of Versailles booked through "My Private Paris" (see separate review - highly recommended). They arranged for lunch in Ore - Ducasse - a high-end restaurant located within the Versailles palace compound. This is an Alain Ducasse signature restaurant and the food and service was excellent. You can order ala carte, or they offer two-course or three-course prix fixe options. We chose the three-course option, and my wife also ordered a souffle (order at the start of the meal, as otherwise it can require an additional 10 minutes later). I had the salad with poached egg, lentils, and country bacon - absolutely delicious and a generous portion. I would say this was the best part of the meal - it was so good, I almost wished to cancel the main and get another salad. I followed with the coquillette pasta with ham and comte cheese - a rich and filling lunch meal. Excellent and tasty. For dessert, I went with a lighter citrus sorbet (and a couple of spoons of the souffle). My wife started with the beetroot salad, with comte cheese, which she really enjoyed. She had the chicory braised chicken for her main and said it was the best tasting chicked she ever had. She loved the souffle for the finish. If you are planning on touring Versailles, you will spend most of a day. Rather than fighting the crowd for a meal in the village or at one of the other restaurants (Angelina or the Grand Cafe d'Orleans), I recommended booking lunch at Ore - Ducasse. Be sure to make a reservation in advance - you can try to walk in, and the day we were there, there was a walk-in that *seemed* like they would get seated, but it was also possibly the lightest crowds ever seen at Versailles. Service was friendly and prompt and responded quickly to any requests we made.

Very classy place. Food is good . The staff is friendly and no wait. We have a 9 am appointment for breakfast and we were there on time. Service is fast and the place is classy.

5 stars is not something I give out lightly and which is why Ore gets 4 stars. This place was recommended from a friend and I'd like to pass that recommendation- they were accommodating at peak lunch hour with no reservation we were seated immediately. It's beautiful and quiet with piano playing (perfect atmosphere!) The decoration (as the name suggests) is guilded in gold. All of the food was absolutely perfect. Here are some notes I took on the food itself! (Separated by if it is an appetizer, meal, or dessert) Egg and beans - it is indescribably perfect Foie gras - texture temperature flavor (everything) absolutely perfect Bread provided was a beautiful rustic country loaf Haddock- a sweet almost fruity flavor for the fish and the vegetable portion has very complex flavors highly recommend Pasta- creamy , flavor explosion highly recommend Souflee- fantastic souflee full but airy Chocolate cake- extremely rich Raspberry- good served with matcha ice cream I actually was almost finished writing a perfect review for this place and then the server asked us to tip I know good service isn't French people's strong suit and I wasn't even going to complain about it but the audacity to provide mediocre service and then ask for a tip in a country where tipping is not the norm is mind boggling to me- feels like taking advantage of Americans knowing if they ask us we will tip. with the exception of the service 5 stars.

3 servings of mini pastries - pain au chocolate, croissants, & a raisin pastry - all delightful, flaky, & tasty!

Reserved a 9am breakfast for 3 people in advance - very easy via their website. We arrived a few minutes late due to changes to the RER C train lines from Paris but were still greeted so nicely upon arrival by the hostess who confirmed our reservation and directed us upstairs to the dining room to be seated. We all had the "Le Grand Lever" for 45 euros per person which includes entrance to the Palace of Versailles. Everything was delicious. Note that the hot chocolate is very thick - it tasted/felt like straight up melted chocolate with a bit of cream - this is excellent for chocolate lovers. Once we were finished and settled the bill, we were given our Palace tickets and instructed where to go. It was a side entrance on the ground floor that got us right to the security screening, took no longer than 5 minutes to go through. I highly recommend this as a more relaxing and stress-less way to visit the Palace, since you will need to fuel up anyway if you're planning to tour the Palace and grounds. Thank you and merci beaucoup to everyone at Ore! Note that if you go, the entrance is on the left side of all the main Palace entrances - look for signage pointing you towards Ore. There's usually no line / no one waiting for Ore.

Coffee, juice, and hot flakey pastries

How often can you say you dined inside Versailles? I came here through the Viator tours which I believe is the best way to skip the line in Versailles. The menu was fixed, but came with a basket of 6 hot pastries (!!!), coffee, juice or tea, followed by a plate of organic eggs your way and sausage. Simply done, but delicious and kind servers too. I definitely recommend to make your trip to the palace even more memorable (and way easier) too!

An upscale restaurant that is open during lunch hours only. I would recommend a reservation if you were to visit. The food is not bad. I arrived for a late lunch at around 1:30 PM or so and they only had one table open. We were able to get seated after a few minutes of wait. Definitely, make a reservation. My friend and I tried the following items: cheese board (14 euros), hot chocolate (7 euros), sea scallop (30 euros), and chicken breast (26 euros). The hot chocolate was the highlight, as it should be! So smooth and rich. Generous serving size. The sea scallop was okay, but expensive for the amount of the food served. The cheese board was also excellent! Try it! If you were a tourist, I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are visiting Versailles. I saw some locals celebrating special occasions at this place and get seated next to the window for the view. Clean single stall bathroom in the back. Hand dryer only.

Why creating 3 lines, based on time, but end up in one entrance with one person checking the ticket? Such a bad planner. No sign indicating what line for what hour and the personnel there cannot even control the line or tell people in queue to go to the right line before they stand in line for 15 mins or so then tell us we in the wrong line.

Beef tartare

Great location, with good food! I highly recommend to try Beef tartare. My husband and I had many beef tartare dishes in Paris, but this place was winner. If you visit versailles and want to make special memory in the place, try this place :) We satisfied all courses, but service?... I can't say it's best. But they did thier best I guess..

Great location within the Château gates. This being a Ducasse eatery, service is extremely smooth (although some staff members look so young you wonder if they're under age?) and prices are steep. Food is an attempt to elevate ordinary fare. The result? Good and interesting, but definitely not a place you would go to for gastronomic enjoyment. It's just convenient a-t-il for a visit to the château.

Solid French bar with good food. Nice selection of 8 beers on tap, with cocktails and mixed drinks…read moreavailable as well. I ordered the meat skewers (one beef and one chicken) and was quite pleased. It came with a decent bit of salad and we'll prepared fries. I speak quite limited French, but the bar tender was quite friendly and worked through the language with me. He offered several samples of the beers they had on tap before I made my selection. The place had a neighborhood bar feel to it, with regulars as well as tourists sitting side by side. I highly recommend the place for a quick bite to eat or a drink after visiting Versailles.

I'll try to write in English now, because I think it's kind…read moreof selfish to write in German about a place, hardly any German would ever discover. Except they know like us somebody living three streets away from this place. Le Moutbaron is a pub/bistro/billardhall and in the daytime it looks as if it's been closed since the 80ies. Kind of shabby, not that inviting in the daylight. But just like Robert Pattinson it looks way more inviting from dusk till dawn. We've been there twice. First because we just didnt't find any other place to get a beer on a saturday night in Versailles. It was kind of crowdet and the service needet a while. We also had a little problem communicating, since one of the waitresses (is the the plural of waitress? I hope so) spoke english just as bad as I speek french, but we tried our best and got what we ordered. (Two beer called Stella, better tham Kronbourg anyway). Actually we had a nice night there and even another Stella, whice was about 6 EUR, as far as I remember, a normal price in France. Oh right now on their webside they disclaim 4,80EUR. I don't remember it beein that cheap? Strange. Ah OK, I see it's the daytime card. At night (after 7 pm) 6EUR was right. Strange onlinecard though. The second time we went there for dinner accompained by our host living nearby and speaking better french than me. The menue was bilingual strange, because, unlike many places in Paris with only a french menue I don't think many tourist go astray to find this. I was very interested in fries on salad for about 5EUR. I wondered what this would look like. (I was serious, i did never mean to make fun of the French and their english) The boys went for burgers (about 12EUR). And fries. Big fat french fries. They're awesome. The waiter this night as far as I remeber one of the owners was speeking english quite good and considering his T-shirt was a fan of the british empier anyway. I asked for the fries on salad. Seriously. He looked a bit surprised and step by step we found out that it simply was a misspelling an meant was fries OR salad. In French it was spelled right of course, but as I said my French sucks. All of us laught about it and I got a really big bunch of fries and an even bigger salad on top. The food was OK, the boys liked their burgers, I think that the fries as well as the salad would have liked some more salt and pepper, but our host told us before that this is pretty normal in France. They generally spice very coutiously here. After all we had a fun night here. It was warm, we sat close to a window, and whenever the boys went out to have a smoke, they stood in frot of my window an I was leaning over the window bench like a kiosk lady. It's a fun place. You can definately go there. I never played billard there cause I hate billard. Ok, I didn't expect i was able to write such a long article in English. Please correct mistakes if you find them.
