I hate to say it, but I was truly let down by Ore Nell's tonight. I'm new to Biddeford and have been looking forward to getting some brisket and figured while I was at it I'd get some ribs and a hot link. First the good: the hotline was delicious. Right amount of spice and flavor. Would order them again. Unfortunately, that was it for me. The brisket had good flavor, but I found it dry for my liking. But the ribs were frankly awful. They had obviously been reheated multiple times resulting in literal jerky. Maybe I caught them in a bad night, but the fact that these rocks even left the kitchen is remarkable. The sandwiches were pretty good. Decent size for the price. But they didn't hold the pulled pork over the container for 3.5 seconds to drain the liquid, before assembly, so the bun just completely fell apart in an inedible sogged mess. This wasn't the "mopp up the juice with white bread Texas bbq style!". The service was poor, but the servers were friendly and pleasant. The vegan mac & cheese was basically inedible. They really need to work on that. Flavor, texture, all off. A weird liquidy slop. The hot bbq sauce was tasty, as was their trad sweet stuff. But the honey mustard was also very off. Just a weird diluted flavor watery dust tasting puddle. Something was not right about the vibe too. Like the fengshui was bad or something. I'll give it a year or so and check back in. read more

First of all, ignore the 3 month old reviews on this place where people expected a brand new establishment to not have any kinks to work out. The food here is fantastic. I went in on day one and there definitely were some service kinks, but the food more than made up for it. The few times I have been in since were also excellent. I highly recommend trying the frito pie. It was the best I've had. This place is a welcome addition to Biddeford's restaurant scene, which did not have a bbq place! read more

This was our first time going here and we came to check out the Wednesday special of .50 wings and $6 draft beers. The wings were coffee rubbed and lemon pepper rubbed. Both were equally tasty...got two orders since we liked them so much. The very sweet and attentive bartender Claire told us the flavors change daily. Great location in downtown Biddeford, there's plenty of parking available. This restaurant is beautifully unique &the staff were genuinely friendly. They have a great selection of BBQ favorites served up in a few different ways. We were a party of 4- sat at the bar. I ordered the Brisket w. Collard greens & Mac n cheese. The brisket was cooked perfectly- very juicy & delicious! The Mac n cheese was better than I expected & I will be back for that. Everyone in our party was very satisfied with the food, drinks & service. I ordered a side of pickles (pickle connoisseur here) & they were the best crunchy dill chips! Having been to the Ore Nells in Kittery, I was excited to see them expand to my hometown in Biddeford! Nestled right in the heart of downtown, it is the perfect location for Ore Nells to be, as there are varying breweries and surrounding restaurants that continue to make a name for themselves. First off, they did an amazing job renovating the venue, as it was previously a pizza/sub shop. It's fairly small, with a small bar, tables, and booth seating, but it has an elevated southern feel to it with the wood tables and modern fixtures. The Biddeford menu is similar to the Kittery menu, and naturally highlight BBQ favorites like pulled pork, brisket, sandwiches, etc. There are a great deal of sides to order as well ranging from collard greens to coleslaw to mac n cheese. Ore Nells also has a curated cocktail menu with southern/bbq inspired influences, as well as local drafts and wine. On a recent trip, my partner and I met up with my parents to check out the new spot. We had made a reservation (another huge plus), and got there a little early. The staff were extremely nice and sat my partner and I right away, even before my parents arrived (another huge plus)! Our waitress came over and took our drink order as my parents arrived. From there, that is when service became a little slow. As we sat and my parents ordered their drinks, it took a while for the drinks to arrive, and as we sat throughout the entire dining experience, the drink service was particularly slow. However, as a group we ordered the Family Cookout, which is a platter that serves 4-6 people and comes with ribs, sausage, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and sides. I will say that the portion of this platter was large, especially for the price ($89). The sides were all good...nothing to ride home about. We got the mac n cheese, cole slaw, and potato salad, but nothing particularly stood out about each of these. As far as the platter, the pulled pork, sausage, and brisket all were very good as far as taste, however, the platter came to us not very hot. The chicken was also VERY tough and we had a hard time pulling pieces from it, so that was also a disappointment. If Ore Nells can fix some of their challenges, they could be super successful in the Biddeford area, as reading through other reviews, patrons have experienced the challenges that we faced when going in. read more

Great service, food and drinks every time! Prime rib special was great! My wife and I got 2 different cocktails and both were great.

The service was very very very slow. We waited 45 minutes to place an order. The food was not good. Not sure what is in the Cole slaw but it was an orange-red tint and nasty. The strip of brisket was so dry I choked on it and the pinto beans had zero flavor. Our waitress could have cared less about our table. Overall it was not a good experience. read more

Our son told us we had to try Ore Nells BBQ in Biddeford. We went in today and had the best BBQ we have ever had. We got the barbecue for 2 which allowed us to try an assortment of their offerings. We added on the jalapeño cheddar cornbread which was awesome. Service was great and had a nice chat with the owner/manager. This is a must try. read more

We were on a weekend road trip and decided to stop at Ore Nells in Biddeford. It was not very busy, maybe because it was a Friday lunch. The menu was well done with explanations of different offerings. I appreciated that as I have to be pretty careful about what I eat these days. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. She explained the extensive beer menu to us and we asked a few questions about the food. I went with the 1/4 lb of pulled pork and collard greens. The pork was tender and flavorful and the collard greens were fantastic. They were not super salty or greasy, the way they often are. A little pile of pickles and onion were in the corner of my tray. It was just the right amount for me, for lunch. Hubby got the pulled chicken sandwich and it was huge! Fries would have been extra and he was glad he hadn't gotten them. He was quite full after the sandwich. Both meat options had that wonderful smoked flavor and were extremely tender. It really hit the spot. The place was nice. The music was a bit loud, but it usually is for our tastes, no matter where we go! The bathrooms are a bit funky, with two steps up after you open the bathroom door! Definitely would recommend. Great food, snappy service, good people, at a good price. My girlfriend and I shared a 1/4 lb of both the brisket and pulled pork, a large side of the mac n' cheese and a small side of beans. The pork and mac were amazing, while the brisket and beans were not "amazing", but good nonetheless. It was the perfect amount of food for two, and the prices were very fair even with a couple beers. We will definitely be coming back when we're in the mood for barbecue! read more

I have to say this Is NOT Texas style barbecue! Not even close. What a disgusting mess, it was so greasy the bottom of the bun was soaked and therefore became inedible as a sandwich. I also tasted a bit of vinegar (again, that would not be TX style. The meat basically had no flavor. I also ordered mac and cheese which was also a big disappointment. This was our second meal at Ore Nells. I think the food is outstanding and I really appreciate the accommodations to gluten free diners. Service was friendly. I have only one complaint which is portion size relative to cost for the barbecue for two. Our dinner companions had sandwiches and fries and corn bread and were understandably stuffed. My husband and I are both gluten free and shared the $44 barbecue for two. There was a very small half rack of ribs (6 very small ribs) and a small scoop of pulled pork and a few slices of brisket. We were both hungry and felt like we definitely wanted more food. When we considered that along with that $44 price tag, it didn't seem like a fair value. What we were served would have been a really generous service for one person - not two. Other than that, tasty food. For people who can eat gluten and fill up on filling sides, maybe they won't mind or notice smaller portion sizes of the meat..... read more
