This was a huge dissapointment, I was looking forward to relaxing in the jacuzzi after a long day of hiking and it was closed, I had just reserved it a few days earlier and talked about the jacuzzi and pool, it was the main reason I reserved. The big lady at the counter didn't want to work with me regarding rates, at least a small discount, but nope. She said I can at least use the pool.....I feel cheated. I'm extremely dissatisfied. My first time visiting this beautiful state and I know I will never recommend this place to anyone. This is already an expensive room. :( read more

Love the cottages they offer instead of a big hotel, everything is just very charming, the main building, the lounge with all the couches and the quaint decor in the cottage rooms. We had great service overall, although I think if I make a dinner reservation, they should know how many are in my party and shouldn't need to ask, and if when I make a reservation you ask if we're celebrating something, then acknowledge that. Most places offer a complimentary dessert for such occasions, not here though Also, the bed was not comfortable, I could feel the springs and the pillows are too full/firm, it was uncomfortable for my neck. Very beautiful place! The room was nice and the garden was amazing. We enjoyed a couples massage, that was the highlight of our stay! Would definitely recommend the spa. The restaurant was pretty spendy, so it might be worthwhile to get dinner elsewhere. The only negative part of our stay was the front desk employees. After our spa treatment, we wanted to purchase a lotion but the spa was then closed. We went back on the morning of our departure and saw the spa was still closed. We kindly asked the front desk employee if she was willing to grab us a lotion from the spa we could purchase and she said she was not able to do so. I find it pretty ridiculous considering we spent over $500 for our entire stay. Very disappointed in the front desk employees attitude. read more

SO disappointed in Oregon Gardens Hotel & TravelZoo. Paid $199 for a certificate that promised 2 nights hotel, dinner, etc, but the hotel "never had availability". Tried 3 times to redeem it and each time the front desk said they had no availability. But on-line it showed plenty of rooms available. This is obviously a big scam! Yesterday I received another TravelZoo/Oregon Gardens offer for $169 for the same deal. It must be working for them, but I feel sorry for all the people buying these and not being able to redeem! When we talked to the hotel manager about it, she said we could use the amount we paid for the certificate anytime. So, you pay for the package, but only get the amount you paid toward a full priced room. Terrible!!!!! read more

I booked the dinner escape package for a romantic night with my boyfriend. I booked online, and requested extra towels and a nice & quiet room. I even had called to make sure it went through the next day. We went on a long hike, and went to the hotel to check in. The person who checked us in was very spacey. We went to our room, didn't take too long. It was the FIRST room from the main lodge. Right by the street, and parking. In the room, there were only two tiny towels. I called the front desk to voice my concerns and ask if we could switch rooms. She had basically told me no, and did no form of apology. I work at a front desk of a hotel, and I would have NEVER spoken to a guest in that manner. It took 45 minutes to get towels. We decided to go to the restaurant, hoping it would be better. I got the special "Blackened Salmon Cajun Pasta" and my boyfriend got some pork over orzo. The salmon in my meal was definitely canned, and his orzo was microwaved. The waitress never asked us how everything was. For a $60 meal, I would expect better quality. We didn't get ANY sleep since we were so close to the lodge and the terrible live music went until 11:30. Even with the curtains shut we could hear every car and person walking by. In the morning I asked to speak to a manager, and was told there wasn't one on property and the GM was on vacation. There was only a supervisor. When checking out, there was a line of people. Every person in front of me had been asked how their stay was. Was I asked? No. They also had a hard time locating my incidental cash, which is a huge red flag. I would honestly really like to speak to the GM, and get my stay refunded. I'm really disappointed I spent money at this place. You should not treat guests so terribly. read more

The two stars are for the friendly staff and the spa employees who gave us a wonderful facial. Unfortunately this venue is a little closer to a two or three star hotel as far as the accommodations are concerned. Rooms were very outdated and in need of some minor repairs, vending machines out of order, and bed was pretty uncomfortable. The food in the bar and restaurant was Applebees quality, nothing overly special. The staff at both restaurants were amazing. Unfortunately we checked out of our room a day early because I pulled back our sheets to find bedbugs. I did inform the office and was immediately asked if I got a picture?! I didn't of course because, well, bedbugs scurry and hide...like everywhere, in light sockets and crevices and mattresses. I was told they had had a complaint before but until someone got a picture they couldn't fumigate the rooms. (BONKERS) I found the policy so appalling we left immediately. I was told they would go and "investigate" the room. I absolutely did not ask for a refund or any other form of compensation for the trouble but it still felt like we were being told we were lying about the bugs. Nobody seemed to take us seriously and treated us like maybe we were trying to run some sort of scam even though we asked for nothing. There was no apology. We left our number but were never contacted and my guess is that the same room is now occupied by another overpaying guest. We had to bring our things home and wash and decontaminate everything. It's a shame, even for sort of an outdated room, we did enjoy our time here before the bedbug discovery. The fact that the hotel knows about this and will not fix the problem is just so disappointing. After mulling over their nonchalant response to a serious health issue we have decided to report to the health authority. Maybe future guests can avoid being bitten and bringing home bugs if they are forced to treat. read more

Beautiful!!! My husband and I are from California; this review is for the whole Resort. I purchased a deal from Travel Zoo, it was a 2 night stay with a complimentary dinner for two which included 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and a bottle of wine from a local winery, as well as a 50 min massage or Facial. With unlimited access to the garden and a buffet breakfast each morning we stayed. And we were given vouchers to 4 different wine tastings and beer sampling, as well as a discount to a chocolate store and another restaurant! Such a great deal!!! My husband and I walked the garden and that was beautiful, yet educational. The pride that Oregon takes in agriculture, I think, is refreshing. It sprinkled a bit when we walked the premises but that didn't stop us it was too beautiful to run for cover. We also went to the Garden View restaurant to take advantage of the dinner for two deal we got. The waiter was very kind, he served our wine the proper way and recommended us plates that were tasty. It was not the best I've ever had but it was pretty good. The wine we selected which was another suggestion from our waiter was a White Cuvee which was very good! The setting of the restaurant was booth style seating as I'm sure they set it up that way because of the spacing. But I didn't go there because of the restaurant I went for the Resort and Garden. We also sat at the lounge which had a live singer/ guitarist he was quite funny (music was not my taste) but it sufficed, the lounge also had a big stone fireplace in the center with couches and chairs for seating with flat screens around the lounge and the bar off to the side. The bartender was very nice even though it was technically suppose to be closed he allowed us to stay longer. My husband enjoyed that. We also went to the spa/Jacuzzi which was nice as well. For the massage we decided to do a couples massage, so because the deal was for only one 50 minute massage we had to pay for the extra massage. I did have just this one issue with the spa receptionist, although she was very nice, she set up our appointment for 3:15pm and told us to arrive by then. But when we got there they told us we were late.... So we said that it was alright for whatever time we had remaining we would take. Well, later that day we got into the Jacuzzi one of the massage ladies that worked on my husband went to the Jacuzzi as well and she talked more about how she wished we would have arrived on time so that we would have enjoyed the whole experience. So we brought up that we thought we were on time and because our appointment was at 3:15pm. But she corrected us nicely and said "no, your appointment was scheduled for 3pm," and that we should have been advised to show at 2:45pm to set up and get ready. We were not told any of that. So she strongly suggested to complain so that we can be accommodated for the mishap but we decided to forget about it. It wasn't a big deal since we had gotten so much free stuff from the Travel Zoo deal. We went wine tasting and had a beer sampling at the Seven Sisters Brewery which their food was great! THIS IS FOR THE GARDEN VIEW RESTAURANT: I might have given it 3 stars, but the food was mediocre and the service staff, to put it kindly, was out of their element. Inexperience doesn't even begin to broach the lack of knowledge they demonstrated. The ambiance is fitting and is reminiscent of a rustic, Sunriver type, lodge. 4 ppl, 4 entrees, 2 glasses of wine = $119. The scallop special was described as, "scallops with some kind of like a pasta and pesto." Then she checked her notes and she corrected herself to scallops over a risotto. Riveting...and how much did you say it was? Oh yeah, you didn't. The Garden View missed it on all marks for me, even the nice ambiance was spoiled because we were seated in a room with terrible acoustics with a larger party, 8-9 ppl. (Opaque glass widow walls and a tile floor - maybe some blinds and a carpet to help with the acoustics?) My duck was over cooked. The potato, tomato and asparagus hash was almost ok, but my potato wedges weren't al dente, they were just undercooked and $10 for a glass of Pudding River wine. I could have gotten a bottle at Safeway. I'd say more about the food, but there isn't anything else to say. I'd forget the entire experience if it weren't for the cost. read more

Welllll.. I have mixed emotions on this place. The rooms are very nice and private well appointed with down comforters and HUGE neck killer pillows. (bring your own if you don't like huge pillows) We also loved the lounge with live music every night and a big warm REAL fire to sit by and drink. Very nice. (But don't order anything to special as they don't have it or don't know how to make it. If you consider a Hot Toddy special) Now for the dark side.... mu ha ha ha ha! Their restaurant, while posing as a nice place, has something missing... We couldn't quite put our finger on it. I think it is that they must use bad oils or all the food is made from substandard ingredients but we felt off for a few hours afterwards and never satisfied. Also the place had a bit of a feel like a up-scale retirement home. Nothing wrong with that, just seriously lacking in "hip". We ended in sneaking out to other restaurants in town and Sliver Falls state park, which were more our style. All in all, I enjoyed our stay there...... mostly. read more

We had a Living Social deal and it was awesome! It was our first time here and we loved it. You get access to the garden you entire stay whenever you want, as long as it's daylight. There are so many themes in the garden and everything is labeled so bring something to write on if you see a plant, bush or tree that you love! I really enjoyed the children's garden and also appreciate how they are restoring/saving the oak savannah. If you walk down towards the greenhouses, you will see huge, old-growth oak trees! They have a cute lounge with happy hour and a restaurant that has a great view of the valley and top part of the garden down the hill from the resort. We had John as our waiter our first night there and we think he must live there because we saw him working the breakfast shift the very next morning too. He's friendly and a hard worker. The dinner food was wonderful. My husband had the NY flat iron steak and I had the grilled salmon. The breakfast is free and it's buffet but it's nothing that special. The bread pudding was mushy and needed some oomph and the sausages were salty but the scrambled eggs were good and so was the granola and yogurt. Parking is free and is right next to your room, unless you stay in the main lodge. We stayed in the cottage rooms and each has it's own little patio. The cottage rooms are comfy and new feeling. The only drawback is that the breezeway outside your door echoes all noises. At 6am, the lady in the cottage next to us rolled her luggage past our door and it sounded like machine gun fire! We stuck our head out to see what the loud/weird noise was and laughed when we saw the neighbor's across the hall stick their head too looking startled. Our Living social deal also included one free massage and we paid $80 for an extra one so we could both get one. Loved it. I had Adam as my masseuse and he was great. We felt very relaxed and pampered. It was too cold to swim in the pool in April but we did use the hot tub both mornings and the maintenance guy was out there on sunday and he's super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed bird watching from the hot tub since they have lots of bird houses scattered around. All in all, it was a lovely first visit. We look forward to coming periodically over the years to see how the garden grows and changes. It is really special. read more

The Resort is a very pleasant little place connected to The Oregon Garden. The rooms are clean and private, with small outside patios. The guest accessibility to the Garden means you can enter freely and walk through some really lovely settings! There is a nice pool and an 'exercise room' containing a treadmill and a stationary bike. We did not have time to take advantage of the Spa options. The wi-fi was very spotty where we were lodged and we had to utilize our phone-hot-spot features. The main reception area includes a very nice little pub and a so-so restaurant. Everyone was uniformly friendly at the restaurant, but the fact that they were unable to fill three items I tried to order from the menu means...they need to update that menu. The quality of the food was very good, but not memorable. The breakfast buffet was definitely intended for the grab-and-go crowd. Overall it is an extremely peaceful setting, family and pet friendly. Well worth it if you take advantage of the Garden strolling options. But they need to work on the restaurant. read more

Atmosphere: it was very friendly and homelike. I've not been to an area as quiet as this ( Seattle). Rooms: very comfortable, loved the inside fire, and porch outside. I wished we stay an extra day because I was barely getting comfortable on my second day. Package:$169-2 nights for 2 adults, 4 winery passes, a free dinner for two with a wine bottle, unlimited breakfast for two days, and unlimited pass to the garden. It's deal was great! Garden: I expected a bigger garden, but I can't complain. I can tell they were still adding more to the garden. Garden restaurant: we ordered two different meals- salmon with Cesar salad and a rib eye ( that was suppose to be a prime rib) with a field salad. The only complaint I had was that the rib eye tasted burnt on top. I didn't want to inform the waitress because it seem like she was having a hard time already. Her name was Peggy, she almost forgot to give our leftovers if we didn't ask for it. I enjoyed the baked potato and salad and some of my boyfriend's salmon. The staff was nice overall. read more

I adored this place. It's a drive from Portland, but was totally worth it. We were there for Christmas in the Garden. We ice skated and walked around the garden all lit up with 400,000 holiday lights. We also indulged in German food and stayed at the on site hotel. I have nothing but good things to say. It was an excellent experience. I have a teen, a tween, and an 8 year old and they all had a good time! That's saying something. read more

A beautifully decorated resort with a top notch spa, resturant, and bar with a huge fireplace to sit by and sip your favorite drink. The package deal we got was an amazing deal and I left feeling relaxed and plotting my return. The rooms have fireplaces and flat screens and the beds have down comforters & pillows that you just sink into. I highly recommend this amazing get away tucked into the little town of Silverton. "It's like staying in a model home." It also smells like one. Got a good deal online with breakfast and dinner included which is what took me here. It's super new, which is why it's like staying in a model home. The restaurant is decently nourishing, I wouldn't bank on the live music in the lounge. Early March was too early for a fully blooming garden, but there's a really old tree there that's neat, and the daffodils and magnolias were in bloom. You could just as well bring your own food and prep it via microwave at the cottages, and stock some wine and corkscrews to enjoy on the patio out back. read more

We booked a package and I quizzed the girl over phone..."is it more cost effective to book package or just book a room and pay to go into Christmas in the Garden"? She said "once you pay for your room, admission to Gardens, admission to ice skating and skate rental. It all adds up so the package is best". We arrived and told skating not included. I explained to front desk what I was told. She said "I 100% believe what you're saying but need to check with my manager ". The other person at front desk said reservations located somewhere else and he called them while I was standing there to tell them not to say skating included. I was later contacted and told Manager wouldn't honor what I was told. It was my Daughter's birthday and opening weekend for the Gardens so understandable mistakes could happen but not to honor what a guest was told is simply poor Management. The Gardens themselves were "ok" but not worth the hassle and being charged erroneously for what we were told was included. SHAME ON THE MANAGER. OK, so maybe not the most exciting place on earth, but this is the Oregon Gardens. Gardens. In Oregon. What kind of excitement were you expecting? The gardens themselves are lovely and the resort is nicely appointed with a more than adequate pool and hot tub. The rooms were surprisingly nice with refrigerator, microwave, soft beds and pillows, fireplace, flat screen, and a sense of Eco-friendliness. On to the included meals: I'm a foodie-in-training and it's generally pretty hard to impress me. Considering the dinners and breakfasts were included, they were pretty good. Would I be as impressed if I had paid for them? Probably not. I had the wild salmon with blueberries and hubby had scallops and steak which he proclaimed "very good." The Cuvee gave me a headache. The real gem was the setting. Getting to eat on the patio at sunset was a marvel. Exquisite. read more

The lodge is nice and there was live music on the Saturday night we were there. The Garden was pretty cool, as well. I'm not really into that kind of stuff usually but this is a great place to visit. Our second, and last stay here for sure. You can hardly call this dated, amenities-free place a 'resort.' From start to finish, we found this place lacking: unhelpful customer service, surly front desk staff, hard-as-rock pillows, very noisy room A/C, and horrific breakfast foods. Since we spent 3 nights at the Oregon Garden 'Resort' we had no choice but to eat breakfast here. Each time the offerings changed little and there were only a few things to eat anyways: bone-dry tasteless scrambled eggs, shriveled sausages, plain yogurt with preserves to add, overly sugared squares of cake, and boring fruit . The staff was indifferent and had to be reminded to restock the items when they were used up. The only thing good about this place is its proximity to the lovely Oregon Garden. read more

Do not recommend The reservation was made by my mother, 7 weeks in advance of our stay, for a handicapped room. She was accompanied by her daughter to to see the Christmas lights on Nov 29th. The hotel room's thermostat was broken open and the fireplace did not function. To make matters worse the shower water was cold to lukewarm. There was food left from previous guest in the room's microwave. Management was told about the condition of the room but failed to make any amends. My mother wrote a respectful and accurate letter to management with no reply and also left a respectful & accurate review on the resort's website, which the company, Moonstone Properties, removed. The cost of the room was $200...you'd expect a clean warm room and warm/hot shower for that price. We did enjoy the restaurant and the Christmas garden. read more

Just returned home from another wonderful stay at the Oregon Garden! We were there this time to celebrate my wife's birthday and like usual they did not disappoint. We stayed 2 nights this time in a 2 queen room which was not as roomy as a king room but great room as always. Their rooms have always been exceptionally clean and well cared for with very comfortable beds and soft linens. My only complaint would have to be that the anti-slip matts that are stuck to the floors of all the tubs have started to peel off in all the rooms we've stayed in. I'd like to see those replaced but that's my only complaint. We regularly dine at the main restaurant and have always been pleased. Our server Thursday night was Michael and he was wonderful. Took very good care of our party of 4 and even sang happy birthday to my wife! The included breakfast is by far one of the best of any continental hotel breakfast out there. The bar has great happy hour and we have yet to try their drinks. Some of the entertainers in the evenings are very good! Some, well.... Haha We've stayed there a number of times and have always left very happy and looking forward to our next trip. read more

Stayed one night for a two-day conference in May 2016. Room was fancy and elegant -- everything I would have expected from a "resort." Conference accomodations were average -- one day in a ballroom in the main building, second day down in an "education room" near the entrance to the Oregon Garden itself (second room was a bit weird acoustically and it was cold in there!). Complementary breakfast was average -- food wasn't that impressive, in my opinion, but it was free, so it had that going for it. Main reception area was under construction, so there was tons of plastic blocking off the main lobby area and the reception desk was crammed into some "excercise room" with tons of cords taped to the floor running all throughout the main building. Got a deep pressure massage that left me sore the next day (probably won't get a deep pressure massage again -- but that is a personal preference, NOT a criticism of the therapist -- she did her job well). Overall, this hotel seems nice -- there were two weddings going on at the same time on the Saturday our conference ended -- so be aware of that if you're going to be a guest during "wedding season". The combination of the whole building being under construction and not having time/good weather (it was raining) to actually visit the garden means that I will likely have to come back again to get the full Oregon Garden Resort experience... read more

My husband (28) and me (26) finally went on an anniversary night out for the first time in 6 years because we are young parents. it was a series of bad luck with a nail in the tire that we had to fix before leaving, my period arriving, him realizing he has lost his ID while checking in, realizing I was developing a cold once we got there, n we decided to stop at the fire lounge to talk there away from everyone. We weren't planning on getting drinks until the bartender came by with a menu and we decided to give it a try showing a picture he had taken of his ID stored in his phone. The lady said no had to be physical which is fine and I gave beer to my husband once we went back to our corner to try which yes our bad. but then the bartender came quite aggressively towards us and scolded at us like we were teenagers trying to sneak into a bar. Ironically we realized that he lost his ID while buying a beer just the day before at Fan Expo in Portland. It completely ruined the night and to find out they they even filed a report against us. We are closer to 30 than we are to 20. I understand following the law but it quite honestly felt very ridiculous and silly. If you're curious make sure you have your iD ready for the white dreadlock cultural appropriation lady because she will get her panties in a bunch. read more

I love the Oregon gardens, the garden is beautiful especially around Christmas time, their food is delicious, I always get the seafood pasta, it's my favorite. And their chocolate cake! There is also amazing staff there, I've met everyone there, William is a very amazing server! He is knowledgable of the food and very kind! Try to make it before Christmas in the gardens ends because right now it's GORGEOUS! Ice skating, little shops along the path to get cocoa at and other items like lotions and soaps! My husband and I really enoyed staying at this resort the past couple days. The suites with fireplace do look more like houses than cabins or cottages, so be prepared for that. It has a kind of old country feel and there are cobwebs all over the light fixtures, but it is a garden so I guess that comes with the territory. The garden, there are more than 20 specialty gardens within it, including a forrest. It's beautiful, but best appreciated when you take the 20 min trolley tour. They have a lounge area where they have all kinds of board games and live music, along with specials like "upside-down pineapple cake" martinis and "BFK's" (Bailey's, Frangelico & Kalua). The first night we ate at their restaurant, it was heavenly. I ordered their special which was a Painted Hills tri-tip with gorgonzola and dark balsamic. Oh my gosh, it was lulling me into a spell-cast state of ecstasy. But the next night the special was really mild. I had to empty half the salt shaker on it, and then it was pretty good. The house Merlot is very strong, but has a great flavor. The resort is only 20 or 30 minutes away from the Tulip Festival (great for kids!) and Silver Falls which is spectacular. read more

Definitely a great place to go for a private and secluded get away. If you don't mind getting engulfed with your significant other, this is a great place to go. The rooms are separated into different little buildings like duplexes. The rooms are spacious and has a romantic fire place that heats up the room. There's also a cute little patio in the back if you want to enjoy the outdoors and have a cup of coffee out there. Bed was super comfortable with a good amount of pillows. We stayed here as part of a leisurely road trip from CA to WA and I'm so glad we did. The drive up is a treat as you wind along the Oregon Gardens and past the FLW house. The resort is a series of bungalows with spectacular views over the valley. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms have vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, an outdoor patio, large bath/dressing area and comfy beds. Add in dog friendly, free wifi, free admission to the Oregon Gardens all in an amazingly peaceful setting and you have a winner! read more

Pricing was very good overall for a hotel stay. Cleanliness of room and private outdoor deck was a little on the gross side. Bugs everywhere. I get it's s garden, that's what you get and I understand that, I just don't want them inside my room. Deck definitely needed a lot of TLC. If you've never been to the Oregon garden you should go once but, I won't be going back any time soon. read more

I visited to give a presentation to the students attending the Oregon Executive Development Institute. Although I opted not to stay the night, the facility was nice. It is located in a remote location away from any noise or distractions. I was able to travel through the adjoining town of Silverton and it was pretty neat for a small town. We loved this place. The staff were so kind and thought of everything for our take out meals. We also loved our room. Fireplace was such a nice addition and being dog-friendly was the best part ever. Went there for our anniversary and got to bring our beloved dog with us. He went to heaven just 3 weeks later so our stay at the Oregon Garden Resort will forever be a wonderful memory for us. read more

This place is amazing! Very few negatives.....The hot tub could have been a bit warmer, but hey, it was an amazing stay otherwise. They occasionally run a Travelzoo special or dinner special on their website. Book It! It usually includes full dinner with a bottle of wine, admission to the gardens, breakfast in the restaurant on the next day, and a beautiful fireplace room. The rooms were very nice, and the resort is only three years old. We spent our next day enjoying the Oregon gardens for 3-4 hours. It's now ten years, old and almost completed. It's a wonderful stay, I'm planning on telling all my friends and family members to go back and try it. guests stay in "cottage" style accommodations which is very appealing, since most rooms have high ceilings and no neighbors above. My wife and I visited the Oregon Garden Resort in March on a package deal (1 night stay, dinner, and admission to the garden) and we had a wonderful time. It is a very calm and peaceful place. Our hotel room was clean and quiet. The dinner was excellent. And the garden is spectacular. The only negative I have is that the mattress in our room was not very comfortable. Probably needed to be replaced. I would definitely go again. read more
