One of my favorite restaurants in Tulsa. I love the minimalist decor and they have two nice outdoor patio areas for when the weather is nice. On a recent visit we tried several menu items which are made for sharing. Our top picks were the artichoke panzanella, crab cakes, pasta bolognese, and short rib pasta. The cocktails are also great and it's the kind of place you could sit at the bar and have a drink and maybe a couple shared plates. I want to come back and try their brunch sometime. read more

Oren is a place that has embraced minimalism in all dining regards: Flavor, atmosphere, and service. Too bad the bill isn't in that list as well. This new progressive American restaurant is a great touch to the Brookside restaurants. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great tips. I recommend going with a small group and trying multiple items. I went with a group of 4 and we got the squash, avocado tempura, tartare, ricotta gnudi, roasted chicken, and duck. It was incredible! Honestly, loved everything we got so it's hard to say what was best. You'll spend some money here, but it's definitely worth it! Makes for a good date night spot. If you've ever been to Amelia's downtown, this is like the Brookside equivalent - upscale, rotating menu, small plates, delicious and unique food. read more

A hidden gem worth seeking out. An elegant blend of exotic flavors, innovation and classic technique. Art on a plate. Inspired cocktail menu. Gorgeous modern design. Thoughtful service. We had a party of 7 and were seated in a quiet corner table. We started with tapioca crackers that are light and seasoned with fennel salt. We had a 2 spread of hummus and pepperonata which is the best I've ever had and a house made ciabatta that is ridiculous, so good. For dinner the centerpiece of Bone in Rib Eye, which was cooked perfectly, with the veal jus, charred broccoli with cashew, crispy Brussels, arancini, ricotta gnudi and everything was delicious. It was all very different but the flavors went well together. Dessert we had the decadent chocolate mouse with local candied whole hazelnuts and Local French press coffee. An absolutely incredible experience. And to top it off the best salted chocolate chip cookie complimentary to finish. The best food in Tulsa, I agree. read more

Had high hopes, and left incredibly disappointed. Our table ordered the steak, which was overcooked, and not as big as a tomahawk should be. We were also disappointed in both the grits and risotto - such a shame. The scallops we got were great, our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable, but I can't see myself going there for dinner again, and I definitely won't recommend it to anyone. I've been to this location twice now, once when they first opened for dinner and recently for brunch. Both experiences were great. First of all, I love the all white ambiance. The servers I had were always polite and attentive. It had been a while since coming for dinner, but I do remember having the arancini (fried rissoto balls) and it being great, so we ordered that again. For brunch we ordered the Benedict, beet root salad, pepperonata, avocado toast, shakshuka and biscuits & gravy. Favorite was the beet root salad. It was fresh and good pairing with the mint and feta. Next was the benedict, the creamed spinach was a nice touch, I've never had eggs benedict done that way before. I also enjoyed the avocado toast, they did it on a texas toast. I have to say the pepperonata could have been good, but they barely used any riccota cheese. When I was leaving I saw another table that had this dish and it had a good helping of ricotta. I think if we had gotten that version it would have been much better and not overpowered by the red peppers. The biscuits and gravy were bland, I didn't enjoy it and didn't eat it. The shakshuka was nice, I enjoyed the tomato based sauce. Overall, this is a great restaurant. I always enjoy coming here and look forward to my next visit. read more

This is a restaurant Tulsa needs, but sometimes doesn't deserve. A couple reviews complain about a lack of descriptions for menu items. Tulsa step your game up, lol. Walk into a Michelin-starred restaurant in any major food city and look at the menu. It'll look just like this except the prices will be 4 times as much. Kind of like the spirit of an Omakase sushi menu, if the chef is super skilled and the ingredients are interesting, then it's exciting to see what the dish has come up with using those flavors. And this place delivers on that promise. Small plates for sharing, very creative flavor combinations, seasonal menu, modern plating style, and just so, so tasty. The more people you can bring the better, so that you can try more dishes. Drinks are also among the best in the city, with the only competition being Hodge's Bend and Valkyrie. Had a great experience at Oren a couple of weeks ago. It's amazing how different it looks inside from the previous places that were at this location. The walls are white which really brightens up the space. We did mention to our waitress that the noise level was really bad for a Thursday evening. She agreed and said that it's something they are addressing. So, just be aware of that if you go on a weekend... it was pretty distracting. Ok, so to the food... it was wonderful. I love that they truly have a seasonal menu so it changes often. I will say that I didn't recognize many of the ingredients... so have your phone with google handy. :) Having said that, our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. They have a great cocktail menu as well so try something from that if you can. We ordered several appetizers.... all were fantastic... I love that they encourage you to share those. I'd say don't order the Arugula salad though... it was just a pile of Arugula with a light dressing... too much of it and nothing really special. I got the pasta and it was fantastic and so were other dishes I sampled like chicken and fish. Would highly recommend trying this place out for a different experience! read more

I decided to give Oren another go and it deserves another star. It was a better experience this time as they coursed out the meal properly, nothing was sold out, and the flavor and presentation of each dish was on point. We started with the sweet potato croquettes which were my fave. When you cut open each one, yummy liquidy sweet potato goodness comes oozing out. How do they do that??! The arrancini balls were wonderful as they were last time. The arugula salad was very fresh and light. The carrots were nice but I would like them a little more cooked or roasted. The ricotta was so delicious! Cheesy yummy goodness. The lamb was very flavorful and a beautiful and colorful dish. I appreciate that almost all dishes were placed on a yummy sauce or yogurt in the plate that added a nice zing. I had a rum cocktail which was ok. Eating here you can expect fresh, healthy, bright and innovative dishes. I will be back! read more

Brunch this past Sunday was by far the BEST brunch I've ever had in Tulsa. We are from New Orleans so we hold Sunday brunch in high esteem. It did not disappoint. We had 8 people, including kids and everyone ate their plates clean. The French toast was the crowd favorite and not at all traditional. Truth be told - I don't like French toast but I've dreamt of this ever since. Everyone's food was phenomenal. I can't say enough about this place. Cocktails were small but plenty for the morning. This place is exactly what Tulsa needs. We'd eaten Chef Amberg's dishes before at his previous restaurant in Brooklyn (The Farm on Adderley) and loved it, but Oren blows that out of the water. We shared three dishes - the carrot, beet and tomato - before our mains (chicken and beef short ribs). They were all fantastic. The taste combinations were simple yet exquisite. We shared the pana cotta with watermelon for dessert, and left feeling satisfied, not stuffed. This will be our go-to date night/birthday/anniversary/guests in from out of town to impress place from here on out. read more

Really torn about this place. Decor and vibe are great. The food all tasted very good with some unique flavor combinations and each dish was presented beautifully. I really did not like the way the menu is written though. It is extremely brief and does not explain what you are getting, so you either have to ask your server to explain every single thing or roll the dice. It also annoys me when restaurants don't elaborate on what's in each dish and also put on the menu that they don't do substitutions or changes. So I guess this restaurant isn't for people who have any sort of strong food aversions? Our server told us the concept was to "make the vegetable the star instead of the side dish." That's totally fine, and this would be great for vegetarians, but it made me immediately think we meat-eaters were going to leave hungry. I wouldn't say we left hungry, but again, the lack of description on the menu made it very difficult to order because we couldn't really tell how light or heavy each dish was going to be, and they aren't sorted by starters/mains/side dishes. Also, this is the first time in a long time that I left a date night dinner without ordering dessert. Sorry, but when you put "Strawberry- various preparations"- that does not inspire me to indulge. read more

Fantastic addition to Brookside. First, I was struck with the chic ambience and patio. Great place for happy hour with friends. Decor evokes the "am I in Tulsa or Chicago?" reaction. I appreciate the philosophy of the place as well like using locally sourced products. I sampled several of the dishes and I was impressed with them all particularly the oysters, croquettes, spinach, and cauliflower. The seasoning is outstanding and the flavors were original and creative. They were out of a couple of their more popular items (e.g. Ricotta Gnudi) so I'll return to check those out for sure. Finally, make sure to see their wine list and specialty cocktails. The highly talented Read Richards has created some innovative and sensational mixed drinks. I sampled a few and was very impressed...and tipsy. Oren is a winner. read more

We had been wanting to try this place for quite a while and were able to last week. We went later on Saturday evening. It was relatively quiet that late in the dinner service. However, the food and service were excellent. I tend to avoid small plate concepts but was pleasantly surprised by how tasty and substantial each dish was. The food was innovative and delicious. The staff including the kitchen staff were attentive and engaging. The bar service was excellent with amazing cocktails. We look forward to returning soon. read more

Tried Oren for lunch with coworkers. There were eight of us, and maybe 2-3 other tables for the entirety of our meal. The ambience was nice and our server was friendly, but overall service was slooooooow. We waited nearly 20 minutes from the time we ordered for our first round of cocktails (which were good), and considerably longer than that for both our appetizers and entrees. The bread and hummus app was excellent. I ordered the short rib sandwich for my meal, as did the person sitting next to me. Both of us found it extremely disappointing... essentially and extremely bland pile of shredded beef on a commercial-grade bun. Very much reminiscent of a school lunch sloppy joe. The "bland" designation seemed to be a common denominator for the entire group; all of the dishes seemed to lack seasoning, and were generally room-temperature and disappointing. Definitely a bummer of a first impression, especially considering the size of the tab! Won't be going back. read more

Been meaning to try Oren and my niece finally spurred us to do it. So glad she did! The space is open, clean and upscale but comfortable. Service was excellent and, the food, wow! Started with falafel balls that were some of the best I have had. Between us we had the roasted chicken breast, green curry and gnudi pasta with ricotta. All three were equally delicious and we each shared a bite of the others. Wonderful flavors carefully prepared and presented. For desert we did the chocolate mousse with hazelnuts and candied ginger. We decided to try Oren for Brunch today and were very pleased with the food and the service. I had the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of sausage which also included 2 poached eggs. Couldn't eat it all but was tasty. Jon had the Shakshuka which was poached egg, roasted tomato, parsley, chick peas and a big slice of house made sourdough bread. Our server was Nick and he did an excellent job. One drawback was price of coffee, $4.00 for drip coffee. read more

This is a nicely done modernized space with relaxing music & food that appeals to several senses. It was fun to see/taste the tapioca crackers sprinkled with fennel salt. What a treat for someone that is gluten intolerant! The beet salad was nicely balanced with feta & light vinaigrette dressing. The risotto was creamy, but not heavy with a nice smooth feel in your mouth. However, the pork tenderloin was my favorite of all of the dishes we shared as a family. My friend suggested Oren for lunch and I am so glad that they did. I reviewed the menu online before our lunch and was amazed at the selection of innovative dishes. I selected the Asparagus. I am a vegetable lover and as fantastic as the Asparagus sounded from the description it was even more amazing when it was served. First, the presentation was phenomenal; it was almost too pretty to eat. I do really like Asparagus so my hunger won out and I eventually began to eat. Then came the second pleasant surprise that not only was it pretty it was also the best meal I enjoyed in a restaurant anywhere in the world in years. My friend commented that it was the only time they recalled seeing me finish my meal. Each bite of the Asparagus seemed to be a more wonderful culinary treat than the bite before as the flavors blended. The service is attentive without the hovering feel. The atmosphere is clean and modern without a cold and stiff feel. Oren coffee is served French Press at table. Oren's bartender is a Mixologist: if you allow him to ask a couple of questions he will blend you a drink to your tastes. I didn't check their wine or beer list, but I'm sure that it's also great like everything else at Oren. I have no idea how far you would have to fly to find a meal of this quality, but I do know that I will definitely be coming back here on a regular basis. read more
