I was very disappointed with customer service at the checkout stands this past week. One lady was wearing her face mask only on her mouth, and the lady with shoulder-length blond hair who checked me out was wearing it, like a new fashion statement, around her neck. When done with the payment transaction, she turned around to face me in the bagging area and, while bagging my items, was talking at me full mouth only a foot away from my face. The CDC and other scientific bodies have determined, based on scientific studies, that the coronavirus travels through the droplets a person produces not only when coughing or sneezing but also when talking, and that an individual can spread the virus even if he or she doesn't feel sick or show any symptoms, and that about 35% of infected people are asymptomatic (show no symptoms). One study even found that the virus is exhaled with our breath through nose or mouth. So unless the lady who checked me out had been tested within hours of my checking out of the store and found right then to be free of the virus, she could well be one of the asymptomatic spreaders of the virus. Like most customers, I wear a mask to protect others from me in case I have been exposed to the virus and am pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic. My mask protected the checkout lady from my breath, but it could not protect me from her droplets. I would expect employees of this store, of all people, who work not just in a "health food store" but an "organic" foods store, to be aware of all this information and to show more responsibility and consideration. If you find the wearing of masks to be an onerous requirement of your job (or "a joke" as the blond-haired lady described it on a previous occasion), please request assignment to another duty in the store and have the business owner put more responsible customer service employees in charge of the checkout counters. Or maybe the business owner could assign employees shorter shifts at the checkout counter so they can better tolerate the masks. Customer service is not just about pleasantries. It should also consist of professionalism and, especially in current circumstances, care for the customer's safety. read more

I recently moved to Temecula and found this store. They have a pretty good selection of organic foods. What I do not like about this store is their customer service. I have been shopping there a couple of times a week for about 2 months. I purchased some organic almond milk in their refridgerator section last week. I opened the product and was prepared to use it with my coffee. It looked funny and then I smelled it and it was sour and basically rancid. I checked the expiration date and it was okay. That being said, it had gone bad so I threw it out--including the container. Today, I went back to the store to shop and tell them about the product. I was informed that since I did not have a receipt, they would not give me a refund, which I was not wanting anyway---I wanted a new bottle of almond milk. I was sent to their customer service in the nutrition section and told the about the product. Since I did not bring the rancid milk in with me, they basically said there was nothing they could do for me. They checked with the manager and I was informed that I would not get a credit and a replacement. I was floored! This product is about $6. They basically acted like they did not believe be because I did not bring the rancid milk with me. This was some of the worse customer service I have ever experienced! "Sorry, since you don't have the receipt or did not bring in the rancid milk, we cannot help you! So disappointed in Organic Roots. Prior to this, I thought the store was pretty good. Been coming here since this place was called sprouts. It used to be this tiny little store with a few specialty items where everybody knew you. I have to say as most stores grow they lose a lot of what made them great. Roots however, did not. They still treat you like family. The owner, who is the cutest little old lady, can be found wandering around the store checking in on customers and making sure they are finding everything O.K. That's enough time talking about what they didn't lose as they grew, lets talk about what they gained!; The gluten free bakery is amazing as my wife has Khrons and there are so few sweet things to eat, the coffee bar is so fantastic, really high quality beans and great machines, the staff is a little under trained and I find that to be the case in each premade food department but that's O.K. because unlike most places they will actually gladly listen to you and your instructions, on the other side of the store you have an ice cream/juice/smoothie/frozen yogart bar and it's amazing. The bar is actually one of the first upgrade they installed and they have had it for a while so this is one thing they got down. I'll end my review with little tip to get your self a slice of heaven. In the produce you're going to see baby thai coconuts, pick out one that's nice and soft on the bottom and take it to the juice bar to have them slice it open and give you a straw, take a sip and reeeelaaaaax. read more

I had a hard time going into sprouts since I loved Henry's market so much. But, with no Henry's I finally had to turn to Sprouts. The first thing I noticed right away was how helpful the produce guy was! He recognizes me when I come in now and he is always willing to help. I love the help I get in the vitamin and natural cures section. I have bought stuff to help my grandma with her shingles and for my son with his warts on his fingers. I am always searching for something new in the store and every time I ask an employee where it is they always seem to know which isle it is on. I like employees that understand the store they work in. Nothing is more annoying when you ask an employee for an item and they have no clue. The drink bar is awesome. They have wonderful teas to try. I can't wait to go in and get a tea to drink while shopping. My son loves the frozen yogurt bar! I take him there when I want to give him a treat. read more

First thing that comes into my mind when my girl says we are going on a healthy food diet, is the fact I will have to eat disgusting food. Then I found Organic Roots and I am now a changed man. I walk in and this place is huge with such a wide selection of items. I couldn't believe when I first went in this was all organic and I could eat it all! Also their customer service is impeccable. The employees helped me find all those weird alternative foods that I now have to eat. Obviously I gave them a little laugh at how clueless I was but they were so happy to be able to help me out and I don think I can say how appreciative I am for that. Well this store ha won me over and I may just always be on this diet so I can keep coming back to such an amazing store. read more

I love this place. I've been buying my groceries since 10 years ago, and this place has grown to be one of the best in town. It's a little overpriced in some items, but most everything is organic and very very tasty. I've bought organic fruits and veggies at conventional grocery stores and they are not nearly as tasty as the ones from Roots. If you want to make the switch to a healthier lifestyle and eating habits, this is definitely the place to shop. As for Roots, I recommend that they drop prices a little bit in some of the fruits and veggies, and that they offer more vegan options like they used to about 6 years ago. Horrible service. Went to the juice bar ...Conner the server is a racist. Serves white people before other colored people. Even when I was before others...happened before with the same server Conner. Needs to be aware of serving all nationalities not just white. His demeanor is appalling and that he is serving white clients only is sad. The manager should be aware of his behavior and ill treatment of clients of color. Conner serves at the juice bar and thinks he's the owner. The girl who works with him is just as nasty. I am not sure if organic roots train their employees on discrimination or diversity training. Obviously Conner needs it. read more

I'm a long time Roots customer. I was in the store the other day and noticed that all the employees were wearing their masks, Until it came to my attention! that the store owner Paul and one of his managers were not wearing masks and blatantly walking around the store talking to customers with no concern what so ever for the safety of the customers and staff. Maybe the Owner Paul and the managers need to set an example for the rest of the crew!. Personally, I feel this mask thing has been blown out of proportion however, if it is mandatory to have to wear them then wear them. If not, then don't!. read more

Stayed in Temecula after wine tasting last night and was feeling like something on the healthy side this morning, the front desk at our hotel said to try organic roots....wow, yum, haha, we had a liver cleansing cocktail! it was so yummy, Im a big beet fan any way, my girlfriend had the mighty maca and we both got a ginger shot....ALL ORGANIC!!! Major plus in my book, service, just a weeeeee bit on the slow side, but I find all the natural earthy places seem to have some airy people working for them.... I love this place and have given it 5 stars before but something that really bothers me is that you have to watch their pricing, yesterday I bought tortillas, sign says they are $1.99, they rang up 6 dollars, the other set of tortillas was $2.99 and rang up $3.79. This last time they overcharged me by 12 dollars, so yea great smoothies just keep your eyes on things. Lastly i bought rocky organic chicken last night and opened it this morning and it smelled bad, its sell by date is the 12/11/14 so its still got a couple of days, just be careful. read more

First time coming here, one of my friend have told me to try the food, supposedly very healthy and delicious,, Well,, I grabbed the large takeout bowl, I picked a few things to try,,, hm,, Eggplant was over cooked very oily, Chicken Parmesan was so salty I had to throw it away, Broccoli was cooked nicely crispy, shredded steamed squash did not have to much flavor to it, reminded me when I made baby food for my children! I actually come here when I want a burrito. Even though chipotle is just down the street you can't beat the freshness of this place. All of the ingredients feel fresh and are really tasty. You can get all different kinds of tortillas such as gluten free spinach and beets. They have really good meat too. I love their corn and sides you can add on. Guacamole is additional price but is pretty good. It fills my need for a burrito and also feels healthy. Not to mention it's comparably priced to chipotle! read more

Nice smaller grocery store with meat, vegetable, health products and so on. I understand it used to be a "Sprout market" however, it is more colorful and lively feeling that I personally get from this store. They have an excellent deli, sandwiches & salad counter so that you can order your personalized sandwiches and wraps. They have eating areas both inside and outside of the store. I enjoyed casual lunch, eating out side with my friends after we went shopping next door. read more

This is one of my favorite Health Food Store in town. The setting is great, right in center if Temwcula, the Mall. The food selection is great, prices are competitive, a juice bar, salad bar, coffee and treats bar, great produce selection with local farmers, supplements, cosmetics and raw dairy as well. I also like being able to get my spices from bulk containers, as well as great help and assistance when needed! read more

Organic Roots lost their minds last year and started to make people wear masks. They have no authority over people and their body. What everyone does not understand is they since they are not a membership based business they are breaking the law per the US Supreme Court to deny services to select people of the public when they are come up with their own rules to exclude part of the public. read more

This store carries right-wing religious "free" publications. To my complaint about this their reply that I was free not to pick up those publications but that the store would definitely continue to carry this type of fanatics anti-abortion, anti-freedom stuff. Customers, beware of wolves in sheep-clothing and above all beware of where you spend your dollars. BeAware. read more

Jose and the deli staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. My father's health was very poor and he had to be on a very strict diet. Jose took time to explain the nutritional options and various preparation ideas. My father's health has been improving and I am so thankful for all the information and tips. read more

Roots is the best for anyone looking for a true health food grocery store in this area. Huge organic produce selection, and really friendly staff. Way better than all the pseudo health food stores like sprouts and Trader Joe's, where it can be hard to even tell you are not in just a regular grocery store read more

Roots is one of my favorite stores. They have the freshest produce! I go there every week to by food for the family. They always have new things to try and I like to be adventurous. The only product I wouldn't recommend is the Pread (fake bread). Its inedible. Everything else I have tried is great. read more
