Today was my first Brazilian . Painful is an understatement. I took 400mg of Advil 3 hours prior to my appt, maybe next time I will take it 2 hours before. Note to self take a shower 2 hours before and not one hour before (to decrease perspiration). Maria was very nice and informative. Hopefully next time it want be as bad. I'm glad I was the only person there they would have thought I was dying. The hotter the wax the better just my two cents. She was very close to were I live which was convenient. WOW. When people say she's amazing, they are NOT kidding. She is so fast, and it was the least painful sugaring I've ever gotten. She's personable, professional, and above all, extremely precise. She got almost every single hair, and with my native american hair, that's amazing. I get way more breakage than the normal "white girl" and she was very thorough. Did I mention fast?! That woman is a miracle worker, I swear. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. When she got started I was concerned because she seemed to be laying the sugar on in large swatches that I assumed would be painful as all getout...but I was so shocked at how quick she got everything done. I am so so glad I found her through groupon, and when my groupons are done I will be GLADLY paying full price. I have a hard time writing a bad review, but honestly I didn't get quality hair removal from Maria. First of all, whoever said sugaring is LESS painful than waxing is insane- the application of the stuff was painful, it tugs on your hairs like crazy without pulling them out. She did NOT go slow with me even though I told her it's been a year since I had been waxed, and had never had my legs done before. She did ask "Too hot" a few times, but only once there was a huge strip already applied to my leg. She was all over the place with removing hair from my legs, and as a result missed a ton of patches, which I had to point out. She did remove them, but when I got home I found another HUGE patch on my thigh! It should not be MY job to find the patches that are missed. She wasn't exactly friendly, and went right in for my bikini area and just started applying the sugaring wax right away, no prepping or explaining what she was doing. She also kept asking about my sweating- like, yes, it's extremely painful and HOT. Also, the normal wax studio I go to normally immediately presses on the area of skin they rip the hair off to ease the pain- she did not. She also didn't want me in positions that made the skin more taught (which makes the hair removal less painful) she wanted me in positions that made it easier for her to reach. This left me basically having pieces of very sensitive skin ripped WAY harder than necessary. There are also hairs on my calves that I'm pretty sure weren't too short or thin, but I just wanted to be done with the pain. I'm really disappointed that I wasted so much money here, and will be sticking to waxing elsewhere. The sugaring pots also looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a week which was honestly the least of my worries by the end of the visit. I will never go back and would strongly recommend against investing in hair removal here- also want to add that I didn't use a groupon or anything so I really do not know why she did such a poor job. read more

Very clean/ sanitary place as stated in other reviews this was my first sugar wax and Maria was very patient with me because I did not take the pain very well(suggest to take pain killer before you arrive). This was however a lot less painful than traditional waxing with strips. Maria is very skilled and her obvious knowledge of waxing helped calm my nerves. I used to be a client and I thought Maria was very friendly and she did a good job but the last 3 times she was not removing the hair from the root and it was growing back real fast and really thick like if I had shaved. I did send her a picture and consulted with her to see if she can give me a discount next time and we could try again to see what the problem was and she refused blame it on my coarse hair and asked me to find another studio. Found this studio from Groupon over a year ago and am still a loyal customer! I love Maria and Monica. They're both so sweet! Maria really knows what she's doing - I explained to both how I had a negative experience with a hard wax removal which is why I decided to try "sugaring" after my first experience I was in love with the results! I did not have a bad reaction at all. This studio even creates their own exfoliation scrub! Like with any wax, there will be pain/uncomfortableness. I've read previous reviews of how Maria is, like her personality and I feel it's a bit unfair. Not everyone is rainbows and butterflies- don't take things so personally. Be polite, and respectful and you'll receive the same back. Unlike previous reviews I think Maria is very thorough and will help if I ever suffer an ingrown hair. On the skin care side- Monica gave me an amazing facial and I'm dying to get another! I suffer from cystic acne and after 1 visit my skin looked better already! I loved it. Fastest wax I've gotten ever, and she didn't miss one hair. It had a been over a year, so of course I forgot the first is the worse with pain, but from experience it does get easier. Just left my first wax with Maria and can honestly say it was the easiest, fastest, and least painful wax I've ever had. I've been sugaring off and on for 8 years and have been to a variety of studios across MD, DC, and VA and Maria was the best of all. First, she accommodated me although I showed up on the wrong day (after the studio confirmed my appointment via text - totally my fault). Both Maria and the kind woman at the front desk were very friendly and took time to explain their processes. Then, the wax took maybe 15 minutes but was thorough! It was only slightly painful in the beginning, but it was nothing compared to what it should have been and what I was expecting. Maria also gave me an exfoliating scrub to use to help prevent ingrowns! She has really great prices for return visits scheduled within 4-6 weeks.
